Mrs. Bradley Calls

Mom had just pulled out of the driveway when Mrs. Bradley called.

"Come over," she told me.

"I'm not really dressed..." I stalled.

"That doesn't matter, just get over here."

Five minutes later I'm over her lap, pants at my knees.

"Fighting with your mom... I could hear you way over here," she said as she walloped my bottom. "Way" over here isn't far, since she lives next door and we have the windows open a lot.

But "Yes'm..." was all I could answer.

"Have you apologized yet?" she asked. She doesn't care who was right or wrong...

"Not yet," I admitted, knowing that she'd start spanking even harder - which she did.

"You will," she assured me, and I tried to nod. "As soon as she gets home."

"Yes'm..."

"AND for shouting..."

"Yes'm, I said, grudgingly. She could tell. Now she was spanking faster, too.

"I will!" I promised.

"Okay. Be back tonight, before bedtime. We'll go downstairs," she explained. That way my mom and sister wouldn't hear. It also mean that this was just a little bit of what I was going to get for yelling at Mom.

Rock Daydream Nation: The Rise and Fall of Hair Metal - Tuff's Debut Album Reviewed!

Hot on the heels of the fallout from our Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years critique, I was invited back on Peter Kerr’s Rock Daydream Nation along with John Clauser and Steve Deluxe, to review the debut album by Tuff.  I’d never heard What Comes Around Goes Around before, so it was a little “tuff” for me to get up to speed with the other guys.  I listened to the album…
