#Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley being separated at birth

“I think the drugs might be kicking in.” Steve looks at Robin across the really soft carpet they are currently sprawled on. Like it’s really soft. Surprisingly soft.

Like Eddie’s hair.

Robin turns her head, “And how do you know that dingus?”

Steve giggles, “Because I have the sudden urge to tell you about my crush on Eddie and how that is very confusing. And sober me swore to take that to the grave.”

Steve expects her to freak out, but instead, Robin just blinks at him. “Oh good, we’re talking about this.”

Steve frowns, “Wait, you’re not surprised?”

This seems to send Robin into hysterical giggles, the weed suddenly hitting her at the same time. “C’mooooon, Stevie. You’re so obvious. Well obvious to me, at least. The rest of our friends couldn’t spot another queer person for the life of them. Like seriously, half of them gotta be at least some sort of gay—“

“Robbie.”

“Right, sorry. I just know ya, dingus. And I know your heart eyes. The real ones, not the ones you made at me at some point.”

“Gross. Don’t bring that up.”

Robin rolls her eyes fondly, and giggles softer this time. “It’s okay to like him, ya know. Think he might be good for ya.”

Steve leans his head against Robin’s shoulder. “Yea, I think so too.” He grabs her hand, and gives it a squeeze. “Just like Nancy is good for you.”

Robin whips her head towards Steve, clunking their heads together. “You know about that? How?!”

Steve rubs his forehead, “I had suspicions which you just confirmed.” He bumps his head against her gently, “But mostly it’s because I know ya dingus.”

This sends the both of them into hysterical laughter. It’s at this moment Eddie decides to rejoin the two of them, “Why do I feel like I missed something?”

This only makes Steve and Robin laugh harder. So hard they can’t breathe, like they are trying to steal each other's oxygen.

“Hey, this is a new house, and I won’t have you guys tainting it with bad-mouthing me before Wayne and I can properly break it in.” Eddie feigns annoyance, but a fond smile tries to break his way onto his face.

“Sorry Doofus.”

“Sorry Eds.”

Eddie walks over and plops between them on the carpet. “Apology accepted. Now, spill.” He grins wide with a mischievous smile.

Steve and Robin only giggle in response. Eyes locked with secrets just for them, just for a little while longer.

Thinking abt Steve and Robin, Robin and Steve, two people who look so alike, who act so alike, who are basically siblings, who could actually be twins separated at birth if not for the age gap

(let's ignore that gap, or claim Steve skipped a grade cause he was a 'gifted' child that stopped being 'gifted' as he grew up in that typical neurodivergent experience kinda way).

Imagine it, Robin Buckley, an accidental pregnancy from a romp in the back of a VW, imagine if the Buckleys had twins but could only manage to take care of one, putting up the other for adoption because no matter how much they love the little bean, they can't afford two.

Now imagine The Harringtons, rich and influential and desperate for a child of their own (even if it eventually turns out that they'd never be completely ready to be parents) but... maybe something was wrong. maybe Mrs Harrington couldn't, or Mr Harrington was shooting a few too many blanks to make it work and no matter how many times they try... it just doesnt happen for them.

And then this little boy is born to a couple in Hawkins, a surprise extra alongside their little girl. A deal quickly struck, the Harringtons pay for everything, all the medical bills, and give the Buckleys enough to get them started with a house and enough money to start a college fund for their little girl, as long as they get the little boy before he's adopted by someone else.

And then one day, shortly after the mall burns down, Robin brings home this boy who she claims saved her life. This impossibly beautiful boy, covered from head to toe in pretty little moles and big, beautiful hazel eyes like Mrs Buckley, with Mr Buckleys strong jaw and broad shoulders.

Their little boy has come home, and it takes everything they have to not pull him into their arms and into their home all at once, so it happens gradually, he's invited to dinners, to holidays, he's welcome to stay the night, he has first dibs on the guest room, even has clothes in the closet there, he and Robin are inseparable, they're siblings, without a shadow of a doubt they're siblings. they found each other despite everything.

They might tell him, or they might not, it doesnt really matter.

Their little boy is home, and he's GOING to get all the love he missed out on even if it kills them.

Some headcanons for my Nightwing!Steve Harrington au that only I am talking about because I got brainrot for real right now:

1- He wasn't born into the circus like Dick (the actual Nightwing) was. His birth parents (rich Harringtons) had him when they were teens and weren't ready for a kid, but didn't want to do an abortion because of "christian values", so they abandoned baby Steve on the circus and the Flying Harringtons adopted him;

2- His adoptive parents were great people and taught him all their acrobat and aerialist tricks and sometimes he appeared on the shows as well. But mostly he was backstage watching them and tried stuff off the show;

3- The parents died the same way as in the Batman comics, but instead of being adopted right away by Batman, Steve was (re?) adopted by his birth parents (which were fucking cunts). He lived with them until he was 11 years old and then put on adoption again, where Batman finally got to him (I'm trying to decide whether I put Hopper as Batman or not);

4- While on the care of Batman and going to school, he became a basketball player there and was famous at school. He was kind of a dick for a while because of all the shit he got going on, but became better when he was like 15 because he did some self reflection after doing some shit he regretted;

5- Steve went by Robin just like Dick until he was 18, then he decided to change and become his own hero Nightwing instead of Batman's sidekick;

6- His first try at a costume was a disaster, he tried to make like a basketball uniform and shit and it was just SO ugly and impractical, but babyboy just wanted to separate himself from the image of Batman's sidekick so bad that he used it for a little while before making the actual Nightwing costume;

7- Robin Buckley became Robin at 16 right after Steve left to become Nightwing, thus making their relationship very strained at first. Soon they became best friends and even kind of siblings (Steve didn't have a crush on Robin on this for obvious reasons, they're completely platonic from the start) (but also she could just be Catwoman);

8- After that, she became Red Robin (maybe when Eleven was adopted and became the current Robin? I still don't know who to make Batman) and sometimes tagged along with Nightwing on patrol, but both were their own heroes;

9- Steve met Eddie while the guy was selling drugs on Crime Alley to some dudes and almost beat him up for it, but being a disaster bi he just got lost on Eddie's puppy eyes and stood frozen as Eddie ran away lol;

10- He started encountering Eddie more and more on patrol and got to know why he was selling drugs and tried to help as he could. He finally met Eddie as Steve when Eddie got jumped by some people for selling one of their girlfriend's drugs (you know who). Steve helped him by fighting off the guys and ran with Eddie to a safe place;

11- Him and Eddie became friends (they flirted a lot with each other but never really acknowledged it) while he was Steve and he still met him sometimes while he was Nightwing, but Eddie didn't know who he was for a long time before it finally clicked, though he didn't say anything because if Steve wanted him to know then he would tell him.
