found out from my coworker that actually i’m not supposed to keep any gift cards customers may give me and it is a fireable offense but it’s like. fuck that actually if some guy i helped to return a $6000 ralph lauren suit wants to give me a hundred dollar gift card in the food court who am i to refuse it? who am i to turn that in to asset protection. so they can go spend money i earned by being nice to people? no thank you. i’m keeping it and if people at work want to buy me things then that’s between me and them <3

help! my sister turns 24 next week and i need to gift her something besides baking her birthday cake. where do people buy fun offbeat presents these days? i would describe my sister as the most basic person i know (she is actively invested in various lifestyle youtuber dramas?) except that all the gift guides for basic women in their 20s that you find in eg cosmo or nymag suggest that women in their 20s are decorating their apartments and/or dressing up and going out while my sister still lives with our parents and has genuinely never been to the club and doesn't want to... what do you get a person like that?

You get a gift card during a boycott. What do you do?

A lot of people probably got gift cards last month, to places like Starbucks, maybe Mcdonald’s, places like that. If you’re boycotting right now, here’s what you can do to make sure that company is getting the least amount of profit from it.

First things first, do not throw out the gift card. The way gift cards work, the company has the money as soon as someone buys the gift card. Other than the initial purchase, they make profit off people either forgetting to use all the money, or going over and having to buy an extra $2.38 or whatever.

So here’s some suggestions

use the gift card! buy a drink! They already have the money- take what resources you can. Try not to go over what is on the gift card, if you have extra you can choose to give it to someone behind you in line

pay for other people! go to the store, give the employee the gift card, and offer to pay for as many people possible. They’ll already be spending money there, money they save is money that doesn’t go to the company.

And remember to be kind to employees during boycotts- they do not decide who the company’s support and do not represent the company. They have a 9/5 to pay the bills and don’t need harassment.
