Day 18 Phnom Pehn to Ho Chi Minh to Sydney
Travelling home today. We left our hotel in Phnom Penh at 10:40am heading to the airport for a 13:50 flight to Ho Chi Minh airport. All good. A 40 min flight!
Then our flight from Ho Chi Minh to Sydney wasn’t due to leave until 21:20 so quite the layover!
But wait, there’s more! Yep, a nearly 5 hour delay. Groan. Phil and I just keep changing the pace. A walk, a snack, some emails, more walking, searched for an empty gate and went horizontal on the chairs for 30 mins, a wine, some plane watching, another walk …
Eventually we were at the gate. When we booked this trip the tour company had already reserved our seats for the two main flights so Phil and I were not seated together! But when we were boarding my boarding pass beeped and the error message said “seating issue”. Long story short, we were sat together in premium, and no one beside us. I don’t think it was “real” premium as the seats were regular but we had loads of leg room which makes a huge difference.
We both watched Love Actually which goes with the time of year. 🎄🎅
Alex picked us up at the airport which was very kind of her. She said “I think I owe you” for all the pick ups you’ve done. But not only that she’d bought us milk, yogurt and bread. 🥰
Home at last. 4pm’ish. Raining outside but that’s fine.
Bags unpacked, showers, PJs, pizza ordered, wine opened, movie lined up and an early bedtime.
Tomorrow we are driving to Stanwell Park for a birthday party for a friend of Phil’s. We’ve booked an AirBnB at Stanwell Tops. No rest for the wicked.
Great holiday. Leant lots! But always lovely to be home. ❤️
The first photo has this teeny tiny little building next to a big high rise. It was the view from breakfast.

November Sew days Recap
Wow - what a wonderful couple of creative days we have had! Vice President - Sharon Nicholls-Thomson - Scrapplique techniques went off with a bang both Friday and Saturday. Thanks for a great turn out everyone. Gosh what a quick hit creative rush that one was. So many effects and ideas bubbling away. Wonderful to see so many members fantastic ideas and samples coming together. I'm looking forward to seeing some finished items next month. If you missed out maybe find a friend and see what you can come up with. Give Sharon a call if you need more of the sheets. You too can have loads of fun with that technique.

Thirroul Library Display - Contact Milica & Ros for their next Display at the Thirroul Library - TBA 2025. Think about things you would like to contribute they don't need to be finished. It is a great opportunity to share some of what we love with the greater local community.
December Sew days - Xmas - We agreed to participate in a Christmas food drive for those less fortunate in our local community. A call for items that kids can also enjoy prepackaged fruit cups, jelly, small chip packets, or other Christmas items. Other things could include pantry staples, fruit cake, or other Christmas goodies you might like to donate. We will get a basket for our December Meeting and get it to the local Northern suburbs contact that we have ready for Christmas.
Sharon did a great presentation on Bee and Group quilts for us today. Loads of ideas on how we might go about getting that going amongst us. Our last Group quilt won best in show for MQSA 2017 - Perhaps we could start thinking for a 2027 finish - get your thinking caps on for some ideas and planning. Find a friend and have a brainstorming session on some ideas lets see what we can come up with.
You can find pics from “Show n tell” and our "Scrapplique" efforts on our social media accounts (Insta and Facebook).
Thanks everyone - Hope you get some sewing in over the month.
See you next month for our Christmas Sew days.

[Address, top right hand corner] Clifton South Coast N.S.W. 7/[3]*/14
Dear Jean, Well how are you getting on. Are you still making doll’s clothes. There are a lot of little girls around here. and boys too, and shops. I see such a lot of trains and motor cars passing. When the train is coming there is a little bell starts ringing so that the woman at the crossing knows when to shut the gate. The bell is on a telegraph just beside the gate and it is connected with the line somehow, so when the train passes this place it starts the bell ringing. We were going to Stanwell Park to the beach this afternoon, but it is raining at present, so if it does not clear up we won’t be able to get, and oh my I will be dissappointed. There is a little baby at the foor of our garden and how it crys. Sometimes it is very quiet, but I think it must be asleep then. I see they have a guard in front of the door, and it tries to get out, and of course it can’t then it starts and howls. Poor little thing wants to get out and make mud pies I think. Ta Ta Jean hoping you are all well, with love, (Kate)
[PS in upper left corner] Timonthy was frightened by a motor car yesterday. You should have seen him run.
*Transcriber's note: The month number could be almost any number, particularly 3, 5, or 8. I've put my guess at 3, as March seems marginally the most likely time the writer might have planned a beach trip and found it rainy on the day.
