I am experiencing Stamptown withdrawal. Before we get to that, I need to explain that there is an NHL hockey player named Zach Aston-Reese. And there is another NHL hockey player named Jason Zucker. At one point in time, they both played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, which is a hockey team in the NHL that plays out of Philadelphia but instead of having Gritty they get three of the greatest athletes the sport has ever produced (Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby).

Anyways. I am experiencing Stamptown withdrawal. So I do what any person might do when they want more of the media than exists and I look for it on tumblr dot com. There isn't much. But maybe, maybe if I search for Zach Zucker, the ringleader of Stamptown, there will be more on offer.

No. Remember those NHL guys? The degenerates on this site are so goddamned horny for the Pittsburgh Penguins I cannot believe it. And like, yes, sure, Sid has the thickest thighs to ever grace The Steel City okay, fair play tumblr. But Jason Zucker? Zach Aston-Reese? You can do so much better.

this was stamptown btw and I actively hope they're on here and see it. you canNOT as an MC run FIFTY MINUTES OVER and still spend your time doing like 3 5-10 minute self-indulgent repetitive bits between each act. your job as MC is to keep the show to time. if you've hit your finish time and you still have 4 acts to get to, you have to cut your bits to speed things up. shut the fuck up and get on with the show you absolute hog.

my friend invited me to go with them to a show tonight

and the thing is it was not good. it was a cabaret with some amazing circus acts but each of them got like. 5-10 minute slots. and were interspersed with 20+ minutes EVERY TIME of some of the most tedious standup work I have ever seen from the MC and the same 5 physical comedy bits repeated ad nauseum. this guy literally did a Borat bit. in the year of our lord 2024. he sang 2 entire rounds of the Family Guy theme.

and it just KEPT GOING. it was meant to be a 90 minute show, which imo is already a slog for a show starting at 11:30PM but within the bounds of reasonable. it finished. at fucking 1:50 AM. ALMOST TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF THIS SHIT. and it did not help that the 5 bits were all of the 'OH NO SOMETHING HAS DISRUPTED THE SHOW' variety which is funny for a bit, less funny when you're literally 45 minutes past the end of your scheduled finish and still fucking going.

HOWEVER. what I did not realise was that this was in fact. my friend's favourite comedian. and if I had known this I might not have gathered up my stuff and walked out during the curtain call and probably would not have announced on the way out, 'that was the most tedious fucking thing I have ever endured.' and I almost certainly, when someone overheard me complaining about the length and tedium and said 'yeah it ran a bit long huh,' have replied, at the actual near-shouting top of my voice, "I AM GOING TO KILL MYSELF."

I feel. bad for spoiling the show for them.

in my defence I have been very tired this week, I got home at 2:30 AM, and raked seating really hurts my hips so I was in agony by the end of the first hour. but mostly I'm just a bitch who loves to hate tbh.

Hard to explain this but Natalie is not actually his girlfriend. He talked about this on a recent podcast. She’s his best friend of many years & one of the Stamptown performers & they touch every nude part on stage (it’s a very sexual show as previous anons have noted!) but they’re not actually together. Note how the caption says they’ve kissed etc. onstage but “never in real life”

My predictions were so off lol. With less free time I managed to see WAY more shows cause I actually stayed in Edinburgh for the month. I ended up seeing even more stand-up and enjoyed it.

I saw 74 shows and got a lot of in person experience this year.

Didn’t get to see much circus or any Opera like I was hoping again.

Next year I doubt I’ll have so much availability to see so many shows so I’ll probably see less one-person stand-up shows as they often seem to have good marketing and the comedian themselves pitching it so I see them even though I’m not the biggest fan off in person stand up.
