Okay I just finished the chapter, and I’m so curious about what inspired The Weaver? She was so scary!!! I kept feeling like there was something eerily familiar about the way she was described, like I was supposed to know her as a mythical monster as old as time… idk if I’m making sense but anyway, I would love to know what inspired her and any odds and ends about your process for writing that scene!

(Side note that I loved the James POV so much, Worm Moon James is my absolute favorite James Potter I’ve ever read and I wanted you to know, anyway thank you for writing him and Happy Valentines Day!)

so glad u liked the weaver i had SUCH a fun time writing her!! & tbh there wasn’t necessarily a single monster or mythology i was drawing from; i was thinking vaguely of ariadne’s thread for escaping the labyrinth & also vaguely of spider deities & myths (arachne, anansi, etc) & there’s also like. if you’ve watched ‘love, death, and robots’ on netflix there’s an episode called “beyond the aquila rift” that i def also had floating around in my head. but overall the thought process was like:

ok i want a dramatic scene of sirius w a boggart -> let’s do it when they’re in the crypt trying 2 get the horcrux it could be a trap -> ooh what if there was also a dramatic scene w remus turning into a werewolf despite no full moon -> ok so i need 2 separate those 2 from the others & then from each other…but then how does sirius get rid of the boggart -> umm maybe james can just come save him -> but then they all need to somehow get back together without dying and also how did james find him. i don’t feel like explaining all that what’s a fun deus ex machina -> ooh what if james like. encountered an ancient & terrifying deity & made a deal w it to get them all out -> time 2 make up a creepy monster-god thing <3 let’s make her kinda spidery & call her the weaver

so that’s like. an example of what i mean when i say my fic writing process is basically just me haphazardly patch working together fun scenes that i wanna write lol. anyway ty glad ur enjoying the fic & the james characterization!!

Got some decorative window film for my bedroom windows because I live in an apartment and my windows look out onto the parking lot of another apartment complex. This is mostly for privacy but I’m hoping it’ll keep the light from people driving through the lot down some too!

Betelgeuse won’t like this, he enjoys looking out the windows. I left him one window uncovered and that’s only because it’s the one my security camera looks out.

i’ve always assumed because our house is a lot taller than our backyard neighbors that they could not see into our kitchen windows because of the angle but i have learned after 3 years that this is not true and they have, in fact, been able to see my whole ass when i make my coffee pantsless every morning 🫠
