“I’m not a goth”
I say to my kid while wearing a lace-up black blouse, black tiered ruffled skirt & black ankle boots, while handing her a stack of old Gothic Beauty magazines for inspiration by the skeleton in our front hall.

Jason would be the type to use anything he can find as a bookmark.
At the same time he has a collection of fancy and normal bookmarks that he barely uses.

Do you have any advice when it comes to finding references for your vintage work style-wise? Are there certain keywords or particular artists you look for?
It actually all sorta came about naturally for me since I grew up watching lots of old cartoons!
Things like Garfield, Schoolhouse Rock, and commercials animated by Hanna-Barbera definitely held a lot of visual inspiration for me. A good resource I found is old, print media. I find antique places sell old magazines and junk papers super cheap and I look for the ones with lots of illustrations! But Internet Archive has free scanned catalogs of old comics, books, magazines, cartoons, ect to peruse which is an invaluable source! Decades like the 60s, 70s, and 80s had cartoon styles that I really grew attached to, so try poking around those dacdes' for art inspiration! It's easy to get lost in it...
