Megaloceros for St. Patrick’s Day

There is no animal that is as emblematic of Ireland’s prehistoric past (and the country’s rich heritage as a whole) than the Irish Elk, scientifically known as Megaloceros gigas, which despite its name is actually a gigantic relative of fallow deer. M.gigas was a staple of the middle to late-Pleistocene Megafauna of Eurasia alongside beasts such as the wooly mammoth and wooly rhino, and its spectacular-looking antlers, which have a span of 3 meters, are the largest of any deer species living or extinct. The first fossils of the creature came in the form of antlers that were commonly unearthed in Ireland since ancient times, and Irish physician Thomas Molyneux made the first scientific descriptions of the Irish Elk based of a pair of antlers found in Dardistown, a hamlet near Dublin, in 1695. Numerous remains of these huge, cursorial (long-legged and adapted for running) deer have also found in Irish bogs, and have given M.gigas its vernacular or colloquial name.

Here in the middle of spring an Irish Elk stag is standing in the middle of a meadow that spans the land bridge that connected the British Isles to mainland Europe at the time due to the Pleistocene’s low sea-levels, and is watching over a small harem that consists of a few does and their recently-born fawns.

Set a bonfire, piss off the cops

Yeet your enemies into the sky so that they freeze to death.

Adopt a child who refuses to leave you alone.

Bargain with an angel to be allowed to judge the souls of the Irish on Judgement Day

Remind your local surviving members of the Fianna that all their friends are dead and in Hell.

Have two oxen decide your burial place

Develop a long and complex relationship with St. Brigit in the folk tradition, despite neither of you being contemporaries.

Refuse to suck the nipples of the pirates who you are trying to convince to take you back to Britain.

Disguise yourself as a deer

Fight against manmade climate change

Be accused by your former friend of unspecified charges that might or might not have involved gay sex and write a long self-justifying letter about your tragic backstory.

Remember this St. Patrick's day that Patrick is a saint for converting pagans and/or druids and making Ireland Christian.

it's celebrating how pagans and druids were attacked or converted into another faith. many pagans/druids will use St. Patricks day to honour the losses their faiths have faced.

(im not an expert on this, but i recommend doing research especially if you plan on celebrating St. Patrick's day at all)

Anyone else think it's weird that Snake is born on March 15th (Ides of March), while that's when we get our first spoilers for ch210, and now we have the rest of the ch210 spoilers on St. Patrick's Day? The saint credited with getting rid of all the snakes in Ireland....

March 17 is also the day our earl officially gains the title of earl.
