Same-Day Dental Implant Tooth Replacements
To make life simpler for our patients in need of tooth replacement, we offer same-day dental implant in our office.
Dental implant  is the ideal solution to tooth loss. They’re permanent, durable, natural in appearance and function like real teeth. Unlike dentures, there are no messy cleaning products to use or fear of your teeth falling out after crunching into an apple or ear of corn. Just relax, enjoy your favorite foods and display your beautiful smile to the world.
Most significantly, dental implants sustain the jaw bone. When missing teeth fail to be replaced, the jaw bone withers and the structure of the face is altered. This occurs because the jaw needs to anchor teeth in order to remain healthy. Because the implants are secured into the bone, it allows the jaw to serve its purpose and maintain stability. Dental implants restore health, beauty and function to your smile, and we can install them in just one day.
In most dental practices, patients are referred to an outside oral surgeon to undergo the first phase of receiving dental implants. This brief procedure involves placing a small implant, known as the “post,” into the bone. The post serves as the anchor for the artificial tooth. The surgery is simple, but you would still be forced to travel to another practice, meet new doctors and prolong the process of receiving your new teeth.
Things are different at Foothills Dental. We are staffed with dentists who possess the expertise to perform the implant surgery in our office in the Hinton area, as well as install the artificial teeth. This way, you save time and are spared the hassle of visiting a specialist. Both phases are performed in one office visit, allowing you to experience convenient and quality same-day dentistry.
Once the posts are placed in the bone, your dentist will continue the procedure by securing a temporary artificial tooth onto the implant. The temporary restoration is replaced with permanent teeth shortly after.
General dentists who perform the surgical phase of dental implant installation need to have a great deal of training and experience along with the best equipment to ensure a smooth and comfortable procedure. At Foothills Dental, we have a staff that truly cares about your oral health needs and wants to make the experience as comfortable as possible. That’s why we offer personalized care and attention to those considering dental implants.
Depending on periodontal health, dental implants may not be a suitable answer to tooth loss. We would love the opportunity to evaluate your smile, answer any concerns and determine if dental implants could benefit you. To learn more about same-day dental implants in the Hinton area, give us a call today.
To schedule an appointment, call Foothills Dental Centre. Trusted and proudly serving Hinton, Edson, Jasper, Grande Cache, Spruce Grove, Whitecourt and the Drayton Valley.

July 2022 Mangum Dental Hike-of-the-Month Sierra Prieta to Butte Creek
Distance: 5.7-mile loop
Difficulty: Moderate (First mile out and back would be easy)
Elevation Gain: 935 feet (7,016′ high to 6,152′ low)
Parking: Parking for this hike is across the road from the trailhead at the Sierra Prieta Overlook (or Skull Valley Overlook).  It is a dirt parking area with an amazing view of Skull Valley.  There are no restrooms or water.
Directions: The trailhead to Sierra Prieta (#366) is 9.2 miles from Mangum Dental on Willow Creek Road.  Drive south on Willow Creek and marvel as the same road changes from Willow Creek to Miller Valley and again to Grove. When Grove ends, make a right on Gurley and a quick left of Park Ave.  Pass Lincoln School and turn right when Park Avenue dead-ends at Copper Basin Road. Take Copper Basin Road west for 5.7 miles.  It will turn to dirt halfway up the mountain. Pass the Aspen Creek Parking Area and at the intersection of Copper Basin, Mt. Francis Road, and Thumb Butte Road, take a right onto Thumb Butte Road.  The road can be rough at times.  The parking area is on the left about 1 mile on Thumb Butte Road.  The alternate route would be to go out Thumb Butte Road 5.5 miles past the Thumb Butte Recreation Area.
Summary:
Sierra Prieta to Butte Creek is an absolute gem in the high elevation mountains south of Prescott and starts at an elevation of almost 7,000′.  It is a combination of the Sierra Prieta Trail (#366) and two old jeep trails (#9401J and #9707T ) that are connected by Potts Creek Trail (#327).  The first mile on the Sierra Prieta Trail (#366) makes an easy 1.8-mile hike that is simply out and back.  It has many oak trees and makes for a beautiful fall hike. In the first mile, there is a barbed-wire gate and magnificent views that need to be savored like the filet at Farm Provisions in downtown Prescott. To the east find Mount Francis, Spruce Mountain, and Mount Union all with towers or antennas. At 0.9 miles the Sierra Prieta Trail (#366) ends and there are two old jeep trails. Trail #9707T is on the left and heads north-northeast, downhill and rocky.  Williams Peak looms large to the west. There are large trees that provide shade and the jeep trail appears to be more single track as vegetation and new growth pine trees have encroached on the old road.  At about 2.0 miles the trail meets Butte Creek.  Here the trail is wide and soon intersects with Potts Creek Trail (#327).  Turn right and follow the trail as it leaves the jeep trail and then joins it again.  Parallel Potts Creek until the “area 51″ marker.  Take a right for 0.4 miles and take another right and join Potts Creek Trail (#327) again.  Hike south for 350 yards to the intersection of trail #9401J.  This trail is moderately steep uphill and more exposed due to recent fire abatement work in the area.  Partway up the trail, the views of Granite Mountain and Thumb Butte are special.  Join back with Sierra Prieta Trail (#366) and back to the trailhead. Having a map or GPS is helpful on the north end of this loop as there are many trails in the area.  This is also a popular mountain biking area and segments of this hike are included in the Whiskey Off-Road Race.
Viewing Thumb Butte from the south, the mountain looks more like a hen’s comb than a Thumb.  My favorite view of this iconic Prescott landmark is from the north.  I see a lying lion. Perspective is influenced heavily by our position and in this climate of political and social intolerance, it would be beneficial for us all to view issues from a variety of positions.
The dentists at Mangum Dental have been serving the Prescott area since 1978.  We strive to be earning your trust with a smile.  Find out more about us at www.MangumDental.com and click on our Hike-of-the-Month link to view our previously featured hikes.

The benefits of regular dental check-ups
Regular dental check-ups are one of the most important steps in maintaining good oral health. Your dentist in Spruce Grove is your first line of defense against oral health problems and regular dental check-ups are key in detecting and preventing potential issues. While many people may feel nervous or uncomfortable about visiting the dentist, dental checkups in Spruce Grove are actually very beneficial to your overall health and well-being.
One of the key benefits of regular dental check-ups is the detection of early signs of oral health problems. Your dentist in Spruce Grove is trained to identify and treat any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Early detection of these problems can prevent more serious conditions from developing, saving you time and money in the long run. With regular dental check-ups, your dentist can also spot any signs of oral cancer, which is one of the most serious health conditions that can develop in your mouth. Early detection is key in treating oral cancer and increasing the chances of a successful outcome.
Another important benefit of dental checkups in Spruce Grove is the maintenance of your overall oral health. Your dentist can assess the health of your gums, teeth, and jaw and recommend any necessary treatments or interventions. Regular cleanings and check-ups also help to keep your teeth and gums healthy and prevent gum disease from developing. This is especially important for people with existing health conditions, such as diabetes, that can increase the risk of gum disease.
Regular dental check-ups also help you to maintain a beautiful and healthy smile. Your dentist can assess your teeth and recommend cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening or veneers, that can help to improve the appearance of your smile. This can boost your confidence and self-esteem, and help you feel more comfortable in social situations.
In addition to these health benefits, dental checkups in Spruce Grove can also help to promote good oral hygiene habits. Your dentist can provide you with guidance and tips on how to properly care for your teeth and gums, and offer advice on which dental products are best suited to your needs. This can help you to maintain good oral health and prevent the development of oral health problems in the future
