I love being nice!! Like yes I will complement that random person's cool outfit and yes I will hold the door open for an unreasonable amount of people!! SPREAD JOY!!! Don't be afraid to be kind!! Tell the people you love how much you appreciate them! Clean up trash you find on the ground! Tip servers well!! Brighten a strangers day!! Donate your old clothes!! Help those in need!! Autumn looks up from her book when Mal flops down on their bed and sighs. Twice.

"Uh... Mal?"

He mumbles something that sounds like, "Yes, kit?"

"Is something wrong?"

"Something wrong, she asks. Yes, there's something wrong!"

"And that would be..."

"It's..." His already crestfallen face falls further. "Nothing. It's nothing."

Concerned, she puts the book down and lays a gentle hand on his cheek. "Mal, you know I'm here for you."

"You'll laugh."

"I promise you I won't."

"Fine. Is..." He pauses. Whatever the problem is, it's hard for him to talk about. "Is Tyril funnier than me?"

"What?"

"Tonight, everyone laughed at Tyril's joke, but only Nia laughed at mine!"

Autumn claps a hand to her mouth to avoid her own burst of laughter. "Mal, are you telling me that you're jealous of Tyril?"

"Do not even suggest that," he says, aghast. "I'm not jealous. I'm simply... confused."

"About what?"

"I'm the funny one! Not Elf Boy! So why was everyone laughing at his jokes!"

Oh boy.

"Come on, love, you know you're hilarious. This one joke didn't land, that's all."

He sits up and glares at her. "My jokes always land."

"And Tyril was in rare form tonight. There might be something to that fancy elf wine after all."

He gasps. "You think the wine bewitched our crew?"

"That's not what I..."

"Of course!" He slaps a hand to the mattress. "That explains everything! It wasn't the joke, it was the wine!"

"Mal, I don't think..."

"Thank you, kit!" He presses a kiss to her forehead and scurries out of the bedroom.

Autumn picks up her book again. He's lucky she loves him.

GGGAAAAHHHHH!!!! OH MY GOSH DID YOU HEAR ME SCREAM??!!! I woke up to this absolute gem of my Autumn and Mal!!! 😍🥰❤️

I died right there. Of course Mal is jealous of Tyril though he'll never admit that. But of Tyril being funnier?! This is art and I am so here for it!

Gotta love that self confidence! And then blaming it on the elven wine??!!! Mal, you are lucky Autumn loves you and was able to navigate this whole existential crisis of yours with a somewhat straight face 😂

(I HC Autumn goes right back to reading the Crown & the Flame while Mal "practices" his jokes on the children.)
