I have a theory regarding Spidersonas. Specifically after someone said that the desire of a spidersona is to replace Peter Parker, I found myself disagreeing with them, but wondering why. So I came up with a new theory. I believe that Spidersonas come not from the desire to replace, but rather the desire to help and to be a part of a community. We all see the tragedy that binds together the lives of Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and all of the others, and it strikes a chord. We say to ourselves “if I was there, this wouldn’t have happened. If only I was a spider-hero too, I would’ve helped them. I could’ve stopped this tragedy.” And then beyond that we find others who share the same desire, and a community is born. And so we dream and desire, not desiring to be the only Spider-Man, but to fight in a community alongside him. We dream of an army of spiders. A collective of wall crawlers so great that none of us will ever have to suffer tragedy ever again. Because the others will be there to lend a hand.

My latest piece is of Miguel O’Hara from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

So my teenager is really into him (and dat ass) so I mentioned to her that we should collaborate on a piece of artwork since she is an artist as well. I’m going to do the line work and she’s going to color it. It’s going to be a fun project and I can impart my finite wisdom upon her lol. But before I do any big piece, I always study the characters facial features and this is the first study of Miguel that I have done. The looser coloring with different textures that the movie employs was so much fun to do since I’m usually pretty precise about my stroke marks.... It was very free-ing 🥰💙❤️🖤🕷🕸
