HEYYY DESPICABLE ME HOMIES
So I looked up some spoilers about DM4 and I was wondering…
Is Clive with Bratt with the other villains at the end? They seemed pretty close so it would be odd if they weren’t in prison together. If he isn’t I hope that doesn’t mean he’s dead, but anyway if that’s the case I’m just gonna imagine that Clive found another job and visits Bratt in prison frequently.
So? Please tell me ASAP! I need to know if Clive is alive!

HEY Trigger warning for the new episodes of Our Flag Means Death!
People who have issues with suicide or suicidal ideation being depicted should be careful. More details below. Vague spoilers.
I'm only halfway through ep 2, so I can't speak to all three eps. But there are multiple scenes in the first two eps where someone holds a gun to their head or talks about suicide or it's implied a suicide by self-shooting has occurred.
Also there's a general vibe that there's serious passive suicidal ideation going on, specifically with Ed.
So if you're sensitive to this, ESPECIALLY to suicide by gun, or people threatening to shoot themselves, I'd watch out. I don't think that it will happen at any point in this show, but still...

somebody help me figure out this lore
flemeth/mythal sent morrigan with the warden to have an old god baby. BUT veilguard says there never were any old gods, just dragon thralls of the evanueris through which the evanuris whispered to the magisters, so was it an evanuris soul that kieran ended up with? Why would mythal want to save one of them if they murdered her and solas locked them away? and WHERE IS KEIRAN I CANT BELIEVE THEY DIDNT INCLUDE HIS POSSIBLE EXISTENCE!!
im on act 2 so maybe it'll be explained later? here's hoping

No worries if the adaptation written by the actual cast who rped them years ago wasn't 1 to 1
Because you have vox machina at home!
Im begging you to watch c3 ep 112 when it comes out and just feel good about the world
They're just so dumb I love them. Remember they're loved by the cast of critical role and be jolly
And honestly bard's lament was my fav and I will lament losing it but sometimes you do what you gotta do to make sure the series (which may have not been renewed for s4 at the time of writing it) gets a semi positive open ending

WoT episode 8 ramble:
Ishamael so dumbfounded to be thwarted he sat there throwing pebbles directly at a shield instead of, like, sucking the air away into a vacuum or collapsing the whole tower
Setting up Lanfear to be an inverse foil to Moiraine: I expect to see Lanfear sacrifice herself for Rand and Moiraine become scarily Forsaken-sequence with her willingness to sacrifice everyone and everything else for Rand, and Lan has to save her
Mat’s level up moments so hilarious
Moghedien most best ever Forsaken
Egwain went over to the dark side, super keen to see the repercussions
The Bornhold - Perrin setup was actually GOOD.

Spoilers for episode 10 of The Magnus Protocol
Current theory: The creature breathing at the end IS Jon “speaking” through the tapes. He had sent emails and statements to Sam to lure him to the institute to “set him free”. This is why the [error] voice actor was Beth Eyre, because she gave a statement in the Magnus Archives, it’s a tape that he can speak through. This is how Jonathan Sims can still win please please please

On the muffled line we finally hear in the dream:
I haven’t brushed up on my startouch elf lore, but isn’t the sun a star? Couldn’t swallowing someone who draws their power from the sun be Aaravos’s method of either recovering or bolstering his powers after being exiled by his species?

I think it's interesting to see the deconstructions and comparisons, so I'm gonna briefly talk about Nope because it does something interesting:
Nope sort of subverts the fear of observation thing, in a way that's made clear through our protagonists - they're trained animal handlers, and they're the only ones who recognise Jean Jacket for what it is. It's Jordan Peele-clever horror where the humans are the monsters, exploiting each other and Jean Jacket. The difference being that JJ is an animal, and its behaviour is unpredictable to those who don't realise what they're dealing with.
The Haywoods survive not because they avoid looking at it - there are times where they deliberately provoke it by doing just that - but because they take the time to observe its habits, and they begin to understand the pattern of its behaviours.
It's worth noting, half the drive for the Haywoods is to get a picture of a real-life alien - it's a story about the endless media circus that constantly exploits people. Anyway, it's the fourth kind of observation-based horror: fear of exploitation. Fear of being misinterpreted, taken out of context, misunderstood. Fear of your fifteen minutes of fame.
changes and trends in horror-genre films are linked to the anxieties of the culture in its time and place. Vampires are the manifestation of grappling with sexuality; aliens, of foreign influence. Horror from the Cold War is about apathy and annihilation; classic Japanese horror is characterised by “nature’s revenge”; psychological horror plays with anxieties that absorbed its audience, like pregnancy/abortion, mental illness, femininity. Some horror presses on the bruise of being trapped in a situation with upsetting tasks to complete, especially ones that compromise you as a person - reflecting the horrors and anxieties of capitalism etc etc etc. Cosmic horror is slightly out of fashion because our culture is more comfortable with, even wistful for, “the unknown.” Monster horror now has to be aware of itself, as a contingent of people now live in the freedom and comfort of saying “I would willingly, gladly, even preferentially fuck that monster.” But I don’t know much about films or genres: that ground has been covered by cleverer people.
I don’t actually like horror or movies. What interests me at the moment is how horror of the 2020s has an element of perception and paying attention.
Multiple movies in one year discussed monsters that killed you if you perceived them. There are monsters you can’t look at; monsters that kill you instantly if you get their attention. Monsters where you have to be silent, look down, hold still: pray that they pass over you. M Zombies have changed from a hand-waved virus that covers extras in splashy gore, to insidious spores. A disaster film is called Don’t Look Up, a horror film is called Nope. Even trashy nun horror sets up strange premises of keeping your eyes fixed on something as the devil GETS you.
No idea if this is anything. (I haven’t seen any of these things because, unfortunately, I hate them.) Someone who understands better than me could say something clever here, and I hope they do.
But the thing I’m thinking about is what this will look like to the future, as the Victorian sex vampires and Cold War anxieties look to us. I think they’ll have a little sympathy, but they probably won’t. You poor little prey animals, the kids will say, you were awfully afraid of facing up to things, weren’t you?

I was going to go to bed, really, and then I saw that ep 8 of Moonlight Chicken was up...yeah I wasn't sleeping.
So I've watched it now.
As I expected/hoped it was basically entirely fluff. And, yes I think that's what was called for and yet I'm somehow a little underwhelmed?
Me working through my feelings about it under the cut.
IDK IDK I feel like the last episode was a little messy. Like, I'm happy enough, I like where it left everyone, but it didn't hit PERFECTLY for me. Or possibly just a bit of a letdown after the tour de force of ep 7.
That's just my initial emotional reaction. I think partly because they covered SO MUCH time in this ep, months and months we don't get to REALLY see a lot.
It does feel a little strange HOW VERY grudging they were with the kisses, not giving us any real kisses for Heart/Li Ming and only the very last scene for Jimwen.
Actually I think I know exactly what it is. I feel like we didn't get to see the transition from Wen "waiting" to be let in to the moment he is let in. Like we have ep 7 where they are right on the brink. And then it jumps a lot in time and the next thing we really get is Jim introducing Wen as his boyfriend. So it feels like it happened offscreen, that moment we've been waiting for.
Because they are SO coupley this whole episode and I just don't buy that they just....don't kiss until that last scene? Like months of handholding and cuddling? I don't know if that's how we're meant to interpret it. I don't think so. Because of how the kiss happens. Wen doesn't react like it's a huge deal. Just a sweet kiss on the couch.
So we don't get to see the moment that holding back gives way, when Jim finally gives the okay. Or if that is what that moment was supposed to be, it was not clear. IDK. IDK.
On one hand I get it. This last episode was juggling a LOT of stories and stuff to wrap up. But I feel like...Jimwen got a little short shrift of it in the end.
IDK, I need to sit on it some. I intend to write a rec post for the show tonight sometime, and my mixed feelings about the final episode don't change the fact that I loved it and want literally everyone to watch it. I guess I just really wanted it to be perfection...

All right, here’s some Help Wanted 2 update spoilers but y’all are gonna have to guess what happened. Don’t worry, I’ll put it under the cut so you don’t get spoiled right away.
—
(1) Scraptrap is currently crying in the corner of some scrapyard.. again.
(2) MXES is currently re-enacting the “Michael, don’t leave me here!” meme as someone is stealing him to who-knows-where.
(3) I am now convinced that the “jumping through time” mechanic that I predicted for Security Breach might be a thing for Secret of The Mimic.
(4) April 6th of next year is going to be wild for FNAF content.
(5) The Mimic is either free and running around or Cassie escaped. Both could be possible but ehhh.
