Weekend at Bobby’s is literally a canary in the coal mine to me. the first Jensen-directed episode. it’s soooo fun and ridiculous and i just love getting to spend this much time with Bobby after all this time

(and also we get to see Rufus <3 my very good dear friend Rufus)

The tragedy of Weekend at Bobby's is the grief Gavin must have felt at losing the father who loved him

Gavin was the captain of the Star. That means to be captain, he would have had to learn to read for the ship log. Where did he learn to read? Crowley in the 21st Century

Gavin is also smart enough to know that his father's bones won't get burned, because he saw him in the future

But seeing the father who loves you being replaced by someone who wants to torture you, Gavin was justifiably angry and hurt, so he smiled "wickedly"

But it wasn't a betrayal. Gavin is really kind and he didn't want an innocent man to go to Hell and he also knew that his father would be fine

As for Bobby saying "Gavin probably hates you more than me"

I think Bobby assumed Gavin was giving him information about his father's bones out of hatred, but really it was to save Bobby knowing that Crowley would be okay

I think Bobby assumed Gavin may have ranted to Bobby about everything out of hatred. No, it's because Bobby wanted all details and Gavin is someone who went through trauma. He loves his father but I think Gavin really wanted to just vent about that. Like yeah he loves Crowley but Bobby is giving him an opportunity to just let off steam

My mother has created trauma regarding me but I love her and yes I have talked to a therapist regarding that trauma. She wasn't abusive, but she wasn't there. She always made sure we were in safe environments and with trusted family and friends, while she went off to self medicate with alcohol, after losing her husband to cancer

Gavin probably saw Bobby as some sort of therapist and just unloaded about all the abuse he went through. It doesn't mean Gavin hated Crowley but rather he just needed to talk about it with someone. Preferably someone who asked him for information about his father and someone who he wouldn't have to see again lol

Forgiveness doesn't mean you can't vent about what you went through

I feel the need to point out that in the episode Weekend at Booby's (6x04), as a favor to Bobby, Dean and Sam go to Scotland. Dean literally cannot drive to Scotland and there wouldn't be time for them to take a boat. Because it's for Bobby, Dean flies to Scotland. That is at least a 7 hour flight. This guy ^ with the massive fear of flying. It just makes that bit in the later episode so much more to me, knowing that.
