There’s something in me that’s always loved the darkness in others.

Even before I ever knew what it meant to be broken myself, I found myself drawn to the fragmented. I loved them without condition, as if something in me already knew how to hold that which was not whole. I didn’t need their perfection. I needed their truth. I wanted to see where they cracked, not to fix them, but to witness what still glowed beneath their ruin. I no longer rush to rescue anyone, but I do know how to sit in the dark beside them. I’ve learned that loving what’s fractured requires a strength that softness alone can’t hold. See, the soul isn’t made of light alone, it’s shaped by shadow too, and sometimes what we carry in our darkness is the most honest thing about us. Now I see, that each of my greatest lessons came dressed in the form of these fragmented souls. The most aching mirrors, yet my initiators. Pain was the price of the wisdom I now carry in my chest, and now I no longer mistake broken for beautiful, but I still believe in the beauty that can rise from what’s been shattered. I believe in it because I’ve seen it. In them. And in me.
