#np up late, listening to my most recent obsession, the sublime Several Shades Of The Same Color, by Patricia on Spectral Sound. elegant techno, defying codification. "This grouping of audio recordings is for aural use only. Any emotional content perceived herein is borne of its listener, and is in no way intended by its author. Any sounds resembling speech are not intended to convey meaning." tones + rhythms, abstracted, floating in blank field, pulling biochemical puppet strings, dopamine flashes beneath blue lights. Tips for listeners: consider the moment in which you exist; pay attention to how these sounds evoke physiological (rather than cognitive) responses. Listeners may find themselves deriving immense physical pleasure from exposure to these sounds. Inability to achieve such pleasure is likely attributable to over-analysis of the aforementioned audio content — or to improper amplification. My contribution for the Spectral Sounds exhibition:

The sound­piece “The Recording with the Sound of its own Recording” makes the recording of a recording process audible. The title refers to Robert Morris’ piece “The Box with the Sound of its own Making” from 1961 and also makes the production process of an art piece audible. In the case of “The Recording with the Sound of its own Recording” the only material used is the ambient sound of a recording studio which shapes the final result of the piece. The process­oriented structure makes multiple spaces audible: a sound studio, the recording of a sound studio, the recording of the recording of a sound studio (in a control room), and finally the propagation of these sounds in the space of the listener.

Spectral Sounds

Spectral Sounds is a curatorial/artistic project in the public realm that I have initiated in Innsbruck/Austria: a site specific sound art exhibition at an abandoned band stand entitled Musikpavillon at Hofgarten Innsbruck. 

Seven artists were commissioned to realise a site specific sound piece for the location. Every week another composition can be heard on site between the 8th of january till the 29th of february 2016.
