Okay so I think the Crystal Ponies who appear in G4 of mlp are inspired by the Sparkle Pony toys of G1.

Like you can't tell me that with everything they pulled from G1 (including the Smooze of all things) that the Crystal Ponies weren't inspired by these things:

They're transparent, they're glittery. You can't tell me the crystal form of the G4 Crystal Ponies don't look like that. Look at them:

I've seen a number of people say they think the Crystal Ponies were inspired by the Twinkle Eyed Ponies.

These guys:

But I don't think that's the case.

Like the only part of the Crystal Pony that isn't all gem-like are their eyes, even in full magic crystal form. Like the Sparkle Ponies, glitter and shine everywhere but their eyes.

While the Twinkle Eyed Ponies whole shtick is the exact opposite. The only special thing about them are their shiny gem-stone like eyes.
