Cas's Season 12 Love Confession in Spanish

This post on plural and singular in different languages made me curious, and I had to hit play on the love confession from Stuck in the Middle 12x12 in Spanish:

The Spanish Sub and Spanish Dub are DIFFERENT. The Spanish Sub is singular and the Spanish Dub is plural. I'm going to scream.

Sub: Eres mi familia. Te Amo. Amo a todos. ERES - Singular informal /familiar conjugation of is TE - Singular Familiar you

(Dean) You are my family. I love you (Dean). [glances away] I love Everyone.

Dub: Son mi familia. Los Amo. Los amo a todos Son - Plural Los - Plural

Reminder that this is a near exact replica of the Cas love confession form Season 15. (x) So it gets better (worse). So much better (worse), when I looked at the whole speech. Literally the Sub made me emotional: Under the cut.

Sub: Crowley (has reason/logic) You (singular) must go. You (not specified) listen to me. Thank you (singular), Knowing you (singular) has been the best part of my life and the things we've shared together they have changed me. [Mary looks at Dean] You (singular) are my family. Then in the SUB Dean responds in the ensuing scene by telling Cas he is family, but in the DUB he says 'we're family'

[throws up hands] I give up on this show WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT?!

The implications of Dean using the singular after Cas said he loves Dean specifically are sending me yall.

Any native Spanish speakers please correct me if appropriate. Latin American Spanish does not use the informal you plural form, subbing in a reuse of the formal plural form. Hopefully this has no effect on implications.

“I know who you love” is who singular or plural

I have found out the answer.

I never thought I would’ve been glad for foreign languages having different words for “who” to clarify if its singular of plural until now. I found an official Spanish translation of the episode in order to clarify.

For any non-Spanish speakers, quien = who (singular); quienes = who (plural)

So now there is no doubt that castiel is in love with dean someone, and it would have to be someone frequently shown in this season. And due how dean was acting because of cas’ death and the iconic “BUT I CANT” line, its safe to assume that it’s dean.

And regarding which would be the Spanish Kansas, I've been PONDERING about it for a while. I don't know much about Kansas but my investigation has given me a few keywords: big, no coast, rural, empty, friendly people, lots of farms. So my conclusion is: Castilla la Mancha. No one fits that description better lmao. NOW, I went a step further - the specific city. Lawrence... college city with a river and 94k inhabitants... I have to choose Toledo (college city with a river and 85k inhabitants)

You know what's been bothering me? I don't know what would be Dean's Spanish name. John would be Juan, Mary would be María, Sam would be Samuel. But Dean doesn't have an equivalent. It'd have to be something like Daniel probably

If Supernatural had been set in Spain, baby would've been a Dodge 3700 gt

John would've been a former legionario (and he'd have the legion slogan "novio de la muerte" tattooed). Dean would've smoked since he was 15 (he would've rolled his own cigs of course) and he'd have an eyebrow piercing. Sam would've carried around a (stolen) copy of García Lorca's poetry and estampas de santos (pics of saints) hidden in his wallet

Also the religious themes and imagery would've been catholic, which means way more dramatic (and aesthetic). Mary as the Virgin Mary would've been a recurring parallel. Sam would've prayed the rosary for atonement or protection. The concept of penance would've pervaded everything.

There would've been more than one episode about Franco and the dictatorship (fun fact John would've been 21 when it ended wow). Also, knowing how Spanish tv works, we would've gotten many nude shots and sex scenes. Oh and several beach episodes (because Spain has lots of beaches but mainly because it's another excuse to show them semi-naked)

We would've gotten more gay characters since Spain was more accepting at the time (same sex marriage was legalized in 2005). And Sam and Dean's weird dynamic would've fit fine with other famous incestuous sibling couples of Spanish tv from the early 00s lmao (I can think of at least THREE beloved canon couples between step-siblings (not related by blood tho) from different shows of that time. Yeah crazy I know)
