Hey Mack! I had a question for you? So I'm trying to learn conversation Spanish, since the area I am located at has promidomitly more Spanish speakers. Also the grocery store I frequent is a Hispanic grocery store.
I was wondering if you had any files on Spanish or could point me in a direction to find resources for learning Spanish.
I've tried Duolingo but find it's hard to keep up with it.
Thanks! Hope your having a good day!
Hello, thank you for reaching out!
I definitely have some Spanish resources in my MEGA folder (link in pinned post).
You can also find some nice podcasts and video series online like Coffee Break Spanish, News in Slow Spanish, SpanishPod101 and Easy Spanish.
If you want to give some other apps or websites a go that aren't duolingo you can try out mango languages, drops, memrise, clozemaster or busuu. A great online dictionary is spanishdict.
Have a nice day too!

Also here’s some stuff I use for Spanish while I’m here
Obviously the best way to learn a language is whatever gets you to do it but I also think that some people are addicted to grammar drills or something.
Like eventually you’ve gotta listen to it. Eventually you’ve gotta read. You can’t avoid the comprehensible input forever, bud.
My question is, even if you do like grammar drills, why don’t you also listen to the language? That’s gonna be doing most of the work for you.

Is it possible to stay focused at home?
You certainly need a good amount of discipline and motivation to create and follow your schedule. Not only that you should be aware of your goals and how to measure and split them into attainable results.
That’s why this course comes with the “Ultimate Guide to Learning a language at Home, at Your Pace”.
Even if you don’t know exactly what your goal should be and how you can effectively create a routine, this e-Book will actually do it for you, leading you from 0 to Hero in a few pages.
Tips & Tricks to Learning a Language at Home
Set up Successful Goals:
What are Successful Goals? They are Small. Measurable. Realistic.
- Small: so as not to overwhelm yourself
- Measurable: so that you know when you can reach it and set a timeline
- Realistic: Easy enough to fit into your daily schedule
The number one reason why most language learners fail is because they set huge, vague goals like “I want to be fluent” or “I want to speak.” Oh, yeah? By when? Let’s see an examples of “good” goals:
• Learn 100 new words by the end of this month. Deadline: April 30th.
Now that you have a Goal and a Deadline you can adjust your routine by splitting 100 words in 5 words a day for 5 days of the week or 3-4 words a day every day for example.
•What if you fail? Don’t beat yourself up. Aim Lower. Start Again!
More things inside the “Ultimate Guide to Learning a Language at Home, at your Pace” that will make your study session easier:
How to Create a Successful Routine
How to Make your Daily Planner (with a Printable Sample)
30 Actionable ways to Learning a Language
7 Tested Study Techniques
..& More!

Top 11 Spanish YouTube Channels you should try!
To the beginning of the year, we make ourselves promises to upgrade our lifestyle and now is the time to put our new year's resolutions into actions. Eat healthier, do more sports or learning a new language? Although we have neither a new fitness program which promises you the look of Ryan Gosling in 6 weeks nor we will tell you that a salad with flea seed tastes way better than a burger. ;-) But we have a clue about language learning. That’s the reason why we researched the best Spanish Youtube Channels among language learners for you. So if you want to learn Spanish like a native in 2019, you really have to check this out!
(without order)
Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com
With almost 270.000 subscribers on Youtube “Learn Spanish with SpanishPod101.com” is one of the biggest Channels for learning Spanish. You can look forward to new Videos, which combine audio and video lessons, every Tuesday and Friday. They have a wide range of different topics which they explain handsome in their really nicely designed videos. Additionally, you can get many useful learning materials on their website!
Learn Spanish Step by Step
Is a channel with almost 60.000 subscribers. They mostly have short videos which always covers one small topic (for example special vocabulary about one topic), which is perfect to learn it step by step and not getting overwhelmed by too much information! But additionally, they also have longer videos which almost provides you a whole course.
Spanish and Go
On the first glance, with nearly 30.000 subscribers, Spanish and go doesn’t seem like one of the big players in the youtube Spanish learning business. But firstly thank god it’s 2019 so that we always have a second look now and secondly everything which Spanish and go seems to be missing - for now - when it comes to subscribers gets blown away with the enthusiastic and sympathetic attitude from Jim & May. The two combine their videos with their travels so that you will get real-life Spanish experience. While improving your listening skills and learn useful phrases you will discover interesting places! Yes, I know what you think! That sounds great!!! And in fact, it is. So don’t waste time and check them out!
ButterflySpanish
With almost 450.000 subscribers ButterflySpanish is probably the biggest channel on youtube for learning Spanish. With grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, general tips & tricks and cultural aspects, it covers everything which is important to learn Spanish. With her enthusiastic attitude, the summary below every video, the fact that she produces videos for every level you will realize really quick that Ana spends really much effort to not just making a good video, but much more, really making a good and confident Spanish speaker out of you.
Lirica – Learn Spanish with Music
If you like music clap your hands now! If you think logically about it, almost 100 per cent of the people who read this should have clapped their hands. But honestly, I think I am the only one whos sitting here and clapping his hands - still...
Anyways! Lirica gives you the wonderful possibility of connecting your studies with music. So if you love music (clap, clap) and want to learn a new language this could be the real deal for you! They are playing a Spanish song in their video and show you the translation, meaning, and subtitles of it. They even have an app in the Play store and Appstore where you can also learn the grammar!
Spanishland School
One big objective for the Spanishland School is to get you speaking and thinking Spanish like a native. Andreas lessons will cover pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, slang and much more. Additional to their channel they also have a blog where you can find material and articles for practice and a podcast which is 99 % in Spanish. In this podcast they talk about music, culture, food, movies, shows literally about everything. And you also can download the transcript of every episode!
Easy Spanish
All their videos are subtitled in both Spanish and English. And they have two kinds of videos. Every Wednesday comes to a video with street interviews with local language and culture in everyday situations. And every Sunday comes an explanation video for beginners and advanced learners. And if you become a supporter of them you will get more extra content!
Learn Spanish
Instead of teaching you abstract grammar explanations or vocabulary which has very limited use, the Learn Spanish-team teach you structures which can be used in multiple contexts. So you will get a variety of useful knowledge, in a short period of time, which you can use in many different situations. This is a highly effective method which will lead you to success much quicker than many other approaches!
Lecciones Español
Lecciones Español gives you a selection of videos which are designed interestingly and cover up many different basic topics. If it comes to numbers, food, prepositions, adjectives or many many other topics you will get an interesting explanation in English on this channel.
Maria Español
If you have already learned Spanish and you want to refresh it now or, in principle, you like to learn a language from the very beginning in the appropriate language? So you want to learn Spanish in Spanish? Then Maria Español is the right person, for you! You can look forward to new videos every Sunday. And if you like what you see, and maybe you can’t get enough from Maria ;-), then you can be happy now! She also offers private online lessons!
Spanish with Paul
The combination of Pauls beautiful designed videos and his soothing voice is very pleasant. This makes it really easy to concentrate and follow him while he shows us how to learn words and vocabulary way faster than you did before! Additionally, he also offers course books which you can download on his website.

What resources are out there for C1 and above? I can't find anything like that for Spanish either, and have resigned myself to the fact that everything above B2 is going to come from native materials and conversational practice [with learned speakers or just casually]..
It’s frustrating because you know you’re advanced, but there are still some rusty areas and I wish there were more specific resources out there to polish them.
I couldn’t find many for Spanish either, except for espanolavanzado.com. It has a bunch of articles with highlighted advanced expressions that you can learn and test yourself on. It’s free for the first month. And there’s also advanced Spanishpod101, which I haven’t tried. I tried downloading the files from lovelybluepanda’s folder, but I could find everything except for the advanced files. Here are some advanced books I dug out that I planned to use for the challenge, but haven’t yet (all from @lovelybluepanda ‘s resource folder, bless 💕)

30 days Spanish Challenge
I decided to do a 30 days challenge to improve my Spanish , but you can do it in any other language. I am at an intermediate level, but I don’t know grammar at all and I’ m going to change this in this challenge.
But enough about me, these are the rules of the challenge:
This part is mandatory:
- grammar for about 30 - 60 min
- one question for speaking & one question for writing - 30 min
- vocabulary - 30 min
- 1 hour on language apps: Duolingo, LingoDeer, Drops, Busuu etc.
I know 3 hours may seem a lot, but if you are doing something you like, it will seem like nothing.
Now some things you could do in addition to the mandatory part:
- listen, listen, listen; music, youtube videos, tv series, poscasts. As long as they are in your target language they’re not a way of procrastination
- write in a journal in your target language
- read one chapter of a book; you can find a lot on vk, you just need to look for libros en español
- put down a song or a story(you can try the ones on Duolingo) that you like and look for words you didn’t know
- do a lesson on SpanishPod101
I will be updating everyday and tell you exactly what I do each day. I f you want to join me in this challenge or if you have any question dm me. And if there is anyone who knows Spanish really well and could help me, don’t hesitate to sent a message. I really need the help!

Quick update!
Hey my fellow students and learners!
As first I want to announce that I changed studies. I’m no longer studying environment & ecology. Next school year I’m moving to Nursing, in the hope I have found a study I love.
Now to my language studies. I still want to study Korean, Spanish, French and Thai. My huge priority right now is Spanish and French, because of work and family. My boyfriend’s family is Mexican and I noticed their English is as broken as my Spanish! So I want to be nice and study the beauty of Spanish. In hope, I can talk to my boyfriend’s sister and talk about Kpop all day long, jajajaja.
French is also a priority because lately a lot of French people has been stopping by at Subway, where I work. But that will be my second priority. I feel like I will exhaust myself if I study two languages at the same time. So Spanish is my n.1 priority.
~~ How will I study Spanish? ~~
I will be using Spanishpod101, Duolingo, and Quizlet for the Flashcards. I will also learn 1 song each week which will focus on my Pronunciation and I will be also translating it. I would also like to watch some things in Spanish with the Spanish subtitles but I’m unsure what yet.
I might do study with me’s and vlogs about my Spanish language exploration.

Paul Noble and Michel Thomas are less boring and than say, Pimsleur, but Michel Thomas is still expensive and Paul Noble lets you pick how much you want to listen to per day but it’s not like… fun. I wouldn’t call it fun. It’s doable.
Spanishpod101 is not as boring but because I get real bad secondhand embarrassment and hearing the hosts try to be funny with each other in a super inorganic way makes me cringe a lot.
You kiss a Spanish woman when you meet her. Oh, I like that wink wink. Oh, I thought you would haha.
Just get on with it already and stop with the G rated locker room talk, my god.
Anyways, I’m learning but I’m gonna complain the whole time.
Unfortunately I think audio lessons might be really effective for me (talking about learning languages) in terms of actual retention and forcing me to space out my learning so I don’t overwhelm myself. Also you can do them while walking so I have less of an excuse to ignore them.
Which is unfortunate, because they are boring as hell.

28/29 Days of Productivity
I decided to comine both yesterday and today's work into 1 post since it's pretty much the same - while I am in Vietnam
28.09.2018
Went to the beach and it was super hot, even the waater was hotter than tea 😂.
Came home in the evening and did Duolingo and Memrise for Spanish and Dutch. Also listened to spanish vids (Spanishpod101)
29.09.2018
Today was amazing! Rented a scooter with the bf and drove around the city and saw so many beautiful places! 😍
Also, when I woke up I revised some Dutch vocabulary with (learndutch.org) and achieved level 2 in Dutch on Memrise 😀. Now I did Duolingo and Memrise for Spanish and that's it pretty much.
