Imagine a massive celestial bubble made of ice and dust surrounding our Solar System. That’s the Oort cloud and this is its scale.
The Oort Cloud lies at the very edges of the Solar system. Even the farthest ones which are still working, like Voyager 1, Voyager 2 and New Horizons didn't go beyond the cloud. Long period comets, taking centuries to orbit the Sun, provide evidence for the existence of the Oort Cloud. Scientists believe this vast region is the birthplace of these cosmic travelers...✨

Concept art of a few things I'm trying for one of my stories, "funny ferret bookclub." it involves 5 seporate books representing the 5 different genres our main characters enjoy reading.
Gene loves mystery so I'm thinking of their chapter be spy themed. And for Prince, a book that fuses star wars with the Orville in an enjoyabe sifi chapter.

Preparing to board. Astronauts Pete Conrad & Gordon Cooper get set for Gemini 5, Aug 1965. The 7 day, 23 hour mission was the 1st time NASA held the world record for duration in space, having beat the USSR’s Vostok 5’s accomplishment in 1963. Hurricane Betsy’s impending presence cut G5’s mission short a day. The cabin size of the Gemini capsule was equivalent to the front seat of a VW Beetle. Nearly 8 days spent in such a small space. Incredible achievement.

Mangna-fied extrasolar explorers courtesy of Midjourney’s Niji 5 algorithm. I'm a little bummed about the recurring flag patches, not (necessarily) because I Hate America but because generally speaking I think of scenarios like this playing out far enough into the future that terrestrial nationalism is no longer an issue.

If you were to be unlucky enough to be just about a thousand miles from a magnetar, the magnetic force would warp the atoms in your body and the gravitational forces would literally tear you apart. A magnetar just 100,000 miles away from the earth would wipe out all the data in every credit card in the world.
