MattMello Week Day 3: First Date

Ik it's Thursday but I fell asleep before finishing this so here's Wednesday's art

summary — the sturniolo’s little sister goes on a road trip with them

you and the triplets are in the car, going on a road trip. matt and chris are in the front, you sit behind matt while nick sits behind chris.

so far the trip consisted of matt and chris arguing in the front, and you and nick watching random movies in the back.

"i'm bored! let's stop for something to eat." nick said as he stopped editing a video for their channel.

“the only place near is the gas station” matt gestured with his hand.

you let out gasp from that, “i love the gas station! they have such good snacks”

“agreed and i really want a pepsi” chris stated putting his feet on the dashboard.

“get your feet off” matt exclaimed, shoving his feet off.

Matt drives up to the gas station, and he parks the car. he turns off the engine, “hurry up let’s go”.

As you guys head into the gas station, matt and chris go straight to the soda, nick starts looking at random chip flavours, and you start looking at all the little candies.

the candies ranged from smarties — to skittles.

you grabbed a pack of skittles waiting for everyone else to be done.

“y/n!” you hear nick call out for you from across the isle.

“what?”

“look at what i found!” nick exclaims, holding a lollipop pack that you and the triplets used to love as children.

you take them from his hands excited, “c’mon lets go!”

as you all pay for the items, you all get into the car.

nick grabs a handful of skittles and he pops some into his mouth, “oh man, these are the best skittles i've had.”

chris pops open his pepsi, but of course, him being chris, he spilt some.

“what the fuck?” matt said to chris with a disgusted look on his face.

you and nick are giggling in the back, eating skittles.

“napkins, napkins” chris slapped your knee, gesturing towards the napkins beside you.

“okay okay, jeez” you pass him the napkins before speaking again, “the red skittles are the best”.

“i agree, but greens are definitely second.” matt laughs as he pops some skittles into his mouth (him getting a pack himself).

as the trip goes on and light chatter continues amongst the small group, you snuggle deeper into the big blanket wrapped around you.

matt glances in your direction, then goes back to the road.

nick keeps a close eye on you too, and speaks up, “are you cold?”

“a little” you shrug as the ac is on full blast, curtesy of chris saying he was boiling.

nick grins, and pulls the blanket over a bit more on you, “there,” he says, his hand still on the blanket on your shoulder. he turns his head back to his phone.

you smile and continue to watch ‘smurfs’ on your phone.

nick chuckles, “you still watch the smurfs? man, you gotta grow up,” he says playfully.

you shove him in response.

he laughs louder, “what? you like the smurfs.” he grins as he teases you.

“shut up, you do too,” i laugh at nicks expression.

“shut up, i don't,” he says as he fakes an insult. he covers his chest, like he's going to “cry.”

you laugh, hugging him and patting his shoulder.

nick just laughs as you pull him into a hug. he sighs, then speaks up, “fine, okay, i like the smurfs, but not as much as you do.” he says jokingly.

matt glances at the two of you, then smiles at the playful teasing. he then glances back at the road, and starts driving again.

chris on the other hand, throws his empty pepsi bottle at the two of you, “stop bickering about smurfs”

nick hits it back causing chaos on the right side of the car.

as the chaos dies down, chris decides to speak up, “so nick where’s your girlfriend?” poking fun at him because obviously he’s gay.

nick hits chris repeatedly, matt is making sure they don’t spill anymore drinks, you are eating skittles and recording them.

you put on your headphones knowing that it was gonna be like this the entire car ride.

Okay I've had a sleep, I've seen a lot of what the fandom has to say and I'm gonna just talk about my thoughts on the episode 118 stuff in more detail too.

Spoilers under the cut and it's a little bit (5 paras and a tl/dr at the bottom) long

I have never liked the Release Predathos option, but it had been very apparent - since probably as far back as the vorbing - that Matt had been pushing the narrative towards that option whether Bells Hells wanted it or not. The lack of alternatives provided meant that yes, the Hells had little choice but to deal with Predathos themselves; Ludinus was likely not dead, they were low on strength and resources even after a short rest to fight another full-strength Ludinus, and even if they caved in the core and killed Ludinus again someone else would've tried to come and release Predathos. On that I can't really fault the cast for playing ball with the DM and I can't say what the characters are doing is out of character or with bad intentions, it simply annoys me how close we were to entertaining the idea that should've been discussed earlier of putting Predathos somewhere nobody can get to. Objectively it was still a terrible idea, one that even in delivery could've been better prepared with Imogen not in range of the two saving throw buffs or having any Inspiration as she took on Predathos knowing from previous experience that a wisdom save is likely to be involved. But again, the alternatives offered up to them are sparse, nothing else in the narrative had offered a clear solution and if something did suddenly come up it would've felt too much like a deus ex machina. The Hells are not doing this because they want to do Ludinus' plan, but doing so is by proxy doing Ludinus' plan, and thus the problem as of current lies in the Plot.

Right now, they're at a very high risk of the plot not justifying a story, because why did we have this campaign if the outcome is gonna be the same? If the plan is to reset Exandria why didn't we have C3 in the post-reset era and trickle in what happened as lore? Bells Hells have often lacked agency when it came to the Predathos portions of the campaign, but even when they took agency to try and be more than what they were made to be they found themselves punished or being withheld the catharsis they needed to grow. Regardless, the plot is currently failing the characters, and thus the characters are failing the audience - to the point where some in the fandom now want them all to die or for Braius to betray them all - because we the audience don't see the appeal of the direction.

There is a caveat though: it's not yet over. We expect that there will be a fight between the Hells and Predathos!Imogen (we need a name for that) and possibly Ludinus swooping in with the harness to try and steal a victory, but that does mean that the theatre of imagination can come into play in dealing with Predathos itself. There is of course uncertainty whether Predathos can die, since Vecna at 0hp would've just discorporated them for a bit, but there are a lot more options for the Hells to entertain now than there was at 118, including having to kill the vessel - be it Imogen or transferring it to another like Ludinus or Liliana, being able to expel Predathos from Imogen and entrapping/banishing/killing it with the knowledge that yeah that was a terrible idea, or somehow having Imogen suppress it and remain control over herself (and hope that the same rule doesn't apply to her as it does with Delilah being free when Laudna dies), which all can involve exciting twists and turns and creative solutions befitting of a conclusion. In that hope is the opening for a more exciting and satisfying end, and while the plot has had rightful criticisms a good ending can make up for them just as much as a bad ending can ruin a good plot.

So in short; I don't like that Imogen did that, but I know why she did it. And why she did it is more the plot's fault because we never saw it as a good idea, just the only decision that was pushed to be made. There's hope though, and all is not lost, but the plot as well as the characters are gonna have to earn it.

i think part of why matt is underestimated in the house is ableism straight up. he was clearly overwhelmed the first two to three weeks and trying to adjust to being around so many people, to get comfortable asking people to repeat things and get used to people’s quirks when they speak, and over the weeks people have been taking him into account more (purposefully sitting where he can see their face, asking him if he understands, getting his attention when a group chat is happening & he looks spaced out, etc) so game talk has gotten easier, but at the same time, the image of him being like, overwhelmed and helpless, has stayed in a lot of people’s minds.

and tbh he’s clearly played that up which is smart! he definitely plays into his silly side & he says stupid shit like “a fun fact about me is i’m deaf” lol, and meanwhile people spill game info to him all the time bc he’s just silly matt, never mind he’s the best rat in the house! it’s interesting to watch him take his disability and the unfair way it’s been handled by production and even house guests and then use it to his advantage in the game.

summary — matt, chris, and nick go see you perform for your second tour!

the triplets being excited to see you preform was an understatement. they have been your best friends since you were little. you and matt got together around 2 years ago

they saw you preform for your first tour, sour, but the guts tour is bigger and better.

you have recently released your second studio album , GUTS , and now you were on tour.

the triplets took their spot at the end of the pit in a small secluded area, but still that people could see.

the moment the guts intro showed up on the big background screen, the crowd went wild.

there you were, center stage. white sparkly two piece set, with a little skirt, and your signature black doc marten’s.

BAD IDEA RIGHT?

nick was recording everything, ready to make a wednesday vlog, his obnoxious voice screaming along in the back.

chris was jumping up and down, waving his arm like a lunatic.

matt. he was mesmerized.

he was holding his cup between his teeth while taking pictures of you.

throughout every song, every outfit change, every short little speech you had, matt was there smiling through his teeth and taking it all in.

you jumped, you sang, you beamed with sunshine.

the stage was yours

it was now the last song, GET HIM BACK.

the show ended after around an hour and 40 minutes. the triplets were waiting backstage for you.

you ran out from backstage. you were wearing sparkly little shorts, a white tank top with a red bralette underneath, some star tights, and the doc martens.

matt engulfed you in a big tight hug.

you standing on your tip toes, arms around his neck. his arms were placed around your waist tightly. you guys stood there, rocking side to side.

“you did awesome, y/n/n” matt’s voice was muffled by your hair.

nick was cheering and ripped you away from matt.

“it was so good, like you literally stole the crowd!!” nick stated hugging her.

chris was holding the camera, so he couldn’t do much.

“it was great y/n!” chris cheered along with nick.

Well another week of Tal and Ashley putting Callowmoore through the emotional ringer. I'm kinda okay with where it's at right now (okay less kinda but I can still see an end goal for them), of course it wasn't the most ideal direction I thought up in my head but it rarely ever is. There's time, there's room, and maybe in 2 3 (again guys? mental torment for 3 again?) weeks time - because no show on Thanksgiving and then Candela Obscura - Tal and Ashley will pull the trigger and not leave me an anxious mess like they have the last month and a half every Friday Morning when I have to work XD

He got me a signed Olivia Rodrigo picture and my dad works for a printing company so he knows if it’s been printed or actually written and it was actually written. She also gave him a guts record for me for free bc she saw me on his insta and asked if that’s who the signed pic was for 😭 (I do have picture proof that he knows her btw i swear im not lying.)

When you randomly go back and watch HSMTMTS and decided “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo isn’t about all the drama between Olivia, Sabrina Carpenter, and Joshua Bassett but is truly about Nini, Ricky and Lily. And like Sour is just the music Nini wrote the summer where everybody was at camp in szn 3. Like I mean hear me out. My illogical conspiracy theories also include the songs being about Nini, Ricky and Gina and kind of EJ. But like rewatch the show and then listen to the album and than talk to me about it.
