THEY EDIT FINE THINGS WELL: OFMD KISS AND KNIVES SCENES (S1 E9 & S2 E3) COMPARISON
Marveling at the OFMD editors who did so much more than just reuse Schumann’s Kinderszenen, Op. 15: VII. And Erik Satie’s Gnossiennes No. 5 from the season 1, episode 9 kiss scene in the season 2, episode 3 knife pulling scene.
Unedited audio from both episodes plays simultaneously in this comparison video. Take a look and a listen at what happens, with Gnossiennes No. 5 from 0:15 to 0:52. The music is playing twice, but you only hear it once because it matches perfectly. The way the verbalizations and dialogue work together are the kill-me-now gut punch taste-of-orange frosting on the best cake ever.
It's beautiful.

Emma Bürklin (@plush__baby):
Earlier this year we completed 6 videos for @panicatthedisco filmed over the course of 9(.5) days. This was a massive undertaking for our crew and cast and this entire team knocked it out of the park. I will never get over the intricacy and care of every aspect. Thank you to everyone who made these happen❗️

Totino's Pizza Rolls - 'Toti' from Emma Debany on Vimeo.
The secret alternate ending to the Totino’s Pizza Roll ‘Ask Mom’ commercial. Most of this was shot in twenty minutes after wrap.
Legally, this extended cut is a short film, not an ad. :) Honestly I'm not sure if Totino's even knows about this so maybe don't tell them.

Legendary Sound Engineer Scientist in the Studio: A Photo and Video Essay
Legendary Sound Engineer Scientist in the Studio: A Photo and Video Essay When legendary Jamaican sound engineer Scientist (né Hopeton Brown), with whom I’m in the midst of conducting an exclusive multi-part interview series, asked recently if I wanted to watch him work in the studio, my heart skipped a beat. Immediately, reflexively, as any music fan with half a brain would, I agreed. When Scientist told me he’d be working with some of the most distinguished musicians in reggae history (including drum-and-bass production duo Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, guitarist Tony Chin, and keyboardists Franklyn “Bubbler” Waul and Michael Hyde), and that they’d be recording four tracks voiced by Odel Johnson (a versatile Jamaican-born, Canadian-based artist), I thanked the reggae gods, and smiled. Honestly I haven’t stopped smiling since, and I hope, after viewing some of the photos and video I took that day at Studio City Sound (owned and operated by Grammy award-winning mixer Tom Weir), you’ll catch some of these irie vibes, too. John - Who Gone Be | Music Video Trailer from Vita Pictura on Vimeo.
The official music video for “Fight City” mini-series produced by Vita Pictura and Roll Up Films and directed and performed by John Lee.
John Lee created this series while teaching math at a high school and doing his master’s degree. Fight City was shot in New York, Cleveland, and Tallinn. The film builds on the range of issues one faces while growing up in a community segregated by financial status, class, and race. The production just proved that film has no boundaries, as long as you are convinced to go through all of the ups and downs of the process.

THEY EDIT FINE THINGS WELL: KRAKEN CONSTRUCTION (S1 E10) AND DECONSTRUCTION (S2 E7) COMPARISON
I continue to be gobsmacked by the OFMD editors' attention to detail when editing new content so that it calls back to older content, dramatically increasing the emotional impact of both.
The scenes of Ed constructing the Kraken (season 1, episode 10 - Wherever You Go, There You Are) and deconstructing the Kraken (season 2, episode 7 - Man on Fire) synchronize beautifully.
Note that I did not adjust the speed of either video clip. They are playing exactly as originally edited. I did remove the audio track from the S2 E7 clip (Schubert 4 Impromptus, Op. 90, D. 899: No 4 in A-Flat Major: Allegretto) to eliminate sonic chaos. Doing so made me realize how well the S1 E10 sound effects match the S2 E7 clip.
Much respect to the editors for tapping into what feels almost like muscle memory for the season 1 scenes. That recurring feeling is what prompts me to compare S2 scenes with S1 scenes: A body-centered sense of familiarity that is just on the edge of conscious awareness, and makes my brain explode when I actually see the similarities.
This meta was written before OFMD season 2 has fully aired. No idea what’s going to happen in the finale (and I’ve generally fled social media to avoid spoilers). I’ll be back, looking at everyone’s fascinating posts after episode 8 airs.
