Shadow the hedgehog. A seemingly edgelord on the surface but truthfully a traumatized introvert. He simply stands on the planes of green hills. A tired sigh escaping the ebony hog as the breeze blows through his quills. The sound of quick footsteps skidding to a stop next to him cause the red and black hedgehog to glance over. Scowl slightly on his face that only lightly softens as he realizes who it is.

Sonic. The blue blur waves with some energy as he grins at the other.

"Hey Shads! Howzit going?" Shadow does an eye roll, shaking his head and looking towards the slight sunset.

"It's going fine, faker. What brings you here?" The blue hedgehog bounces on his feet, smile wide.

"Eh ya know me. Always getting some fresh air in with a good run. Speaking of which. Wanna race?" Shadow turns to the other with a blank expression. Before cracking a small smile that looked more like a smirk than anything.

"Sure. Gives me another chance to absolutely humiliate you." The two hogs share a glance before chuckling. Sonic holds up 3 fingers. Lowering them slowly. Both hedgehogs crouching into a running position and taking off at 1.

There was no fighting, just leisurely running and dodging of obstacles every now and then.

"Ya doing good there, Shads?"

"Just fine, Sonic!"

"Great! Let's step it up some then!" A slight increase in speed as the duo zoom around the zone. Loud, wild laughter from Sonic as Shadow cracks a grin with a soft chuckle. This was truly fun.

But. Something's started to be amiss with their run. Was Sonic getting faster? Shadow frowns. Struggling to keep up with the other. Sonic turns back and laughs softly.

"C'mon Shads! You can do better than that!" Shadow growls lightly in frustration. The blue blur getting farther away from him. To a very concerning extent. Shadow seems to falter iin his normal demeanor. Becoming almost worried to an extent.

"Sonic! Slow down!" He hated having to call after with that of all things. But sonic was getting far ahead. The world around them slowly shifts. Shadow growing more worried, though attempting to stay calm.

The area was no longer colorful like how green hills normally is. Instead the plant life looked rather dead. Dull grey. The sky grew dark before being illuminated with oranges, yellows, and reds. Fire shades. Eventually Sonic comes to a halt. Shadow finally catching up, being only a few feet away. Sonic doesn't mind the world looking very off. Almost like he didn't acknowledge the shift at all.

"S-Sonic.. Jeez Faker. When did you-"

"Shads?" The sudden cut off causes the ebony hedgehog to freeze. Sonic turning back to the other with a grin. A strained one that felt too familiar.

"You know I care about you. Right?" Where was this going? Why was this so sudden?

"Sonic? I. Of course. I care about you as well but what does this have to-" The words getting caught in his throat. Was it getting warmer in here? Sonic's grin trembles as tears prick the hedgehog's eyes. The fire rises, slowly surrounding the two.

"Sayonara. Shadow the Hedgehog." Shadow's eyes widen. As the fire comes closer a robotic figure comes into view. It looked awfully like Sonic but with a grey color as a base instead of the bright blue color like the hedgehog. The robot was massive as well. It grabbed Sonic rather harshly. Shadow reaching out as panicked words die in his throat. The robot would be smiling if it could as its chest plate opens, reveling a furnace type cavern. The blue blur being shoved in.

"SONIC-"

There were screams, defeaningly so. And the smell was horrible. Absolutely revolting. The smell of burning fur, cooking flesh. Shadow covers his muzzle. Sinking to his knees. Not real. This couldn't be real-

Shadow sits up abruptly. Choked sob escaping his body. Another one. He thought he'd have gotten over these. But just like Maria's death. It was still so fresh. He couldn't save Sonic if he tried, he knew that much. But the guilt ate at him. Long time rival that became a friend- maybe more. Gone like that. And it hurt to remember.

Shakily the ebony hog touches his cheek. The bite mark still there, the fur never quite managed to heal over it and left a bite shaped scar. He grimaces through the hot tears. Maria.

Fucking. He hated the memories. Of that awful game. Maria would never hurt him. But the one of her he met back then.

The one who used the falling mobians for food of all things. He hated that corpse that wore her face. Maria was a saint that wouldn't hurt a soul. Shadow sighs.

Sonic would have liked her more than that phoney. The door to his room opens as Amy peers in with concern in her eyes. Holding a mug of warm milk and one of hot chocolate she comes and sits next to the shaking hedgehog.

Shadow hadn't even registered his body shaking.

He should really stop sleeping to pass time since he didn't need any.

"Shadow?" His name being called snaps him out of his thoughts, turning to Amy who offers the milk.

"I heard you... sobbing. Did you. Want to talk about it?" He shakes his head. She knew it was more of a 'not atm' rather than a 'I don't'so she didn't push. Shadow holds the mug in his hands. Mumbling an apology under his breath.

"It's ok. I'm not mad. You're still recovering and grieving after all." How was she so understanding? He wouldn't know. For now he just sits. Letting Amy sit next to him as they sat in silence.

An experimental E-series built with the capacity to save enough power to function without their animal for a short period of time. After escaping from Eggman's facility, she and her animal Hammy live together peacefully. Eventually remodeled and takes on the name E-122 ☆, or "Star" for short.

Here’s my opinion on some of my favorite Sonic ships. I don’t have a controversial ship here, sorry not sorry.

Surgamy: Look, I really like ships about a nice and loving person with a someone who is the opposite. And Surgamy is just that but the goodest. The moment I saw people ship it, I saw the potential immediately, and it just flourish even further. This might be my only Amy ship that I full time ship all times. Sorry Sonamy, Blazamy, Shadamy, Metamy, etc shippers, I like this one more. Sunshine/grumpy Sapphics go hard.

Shadamy: Alright admittedly this isn’t my FAVORITE Shadow and Amy ship, I don’t even fully ship it. But I get it now. I used to think people who shipped this was the cringiest part of the fandom. BUT I SAW THE LIGHT AND THE POTENTIAL AND I AM ON BORED. I mean, kinda… I still see them more as friends. But yo, anytime I see y’all make ship art or something, i’mma be like “Yo dog I get it. Sunshine and grump, that shit go hard!”

Metamy: METAMY SHIPPERS PLEASE CALM DOWN! I haven’t stopped shipping them, it’s just the fire has died down. I just, started to see them less as a couple potential and just more as friend potential. Like, I just think the idea of Amy, being the ultimate friend maker she is being besties with a clone of her crush that has to kill her like 20 times while he’s going through a existential crisis is cute, funny, and full of potential that doesn’t have to be romantic. And I’ve just started to see them in more of that light.

Knuxrouge: According to the shipping wiki this is one of the more popular ones, and this is one of the only BIG ones I actually ship fully. IDK dog, I just think it’s cute and funny when a character’s reaction to be flirted with is “W…W…Women pretty.” They be cute.

Bigfinite: BLAME THIS ON @bbgatile 1000%. For those who don’t know, they made a bunch of crackship art a few years ago, which they now since deleted, which please don’t hate them for its their art, they can do what they want with it, if you want to find it, just google the ship name on google you’ll find some reblogs. But I saw that shit and I’ve loved this pairing to death since. I love dog/cat pairings! I love calm/extreame pairings! I love villains/that one side character pairings! It’s just a good ship and it’s BULLSHIT that there is only like 4 works of it on AO3. Best believe my next STH fic is gonna be about them.

Whispangle: Do I even need to say anything? Pretty sure this shit practically IS canon! Whatever! Lemur and Wolf sapphics goes hard AF.

Shadknux: This like my only Shadow ship. I think this is real good soup. Although, if I had a preference, I prefer the Boom! Iteration of this ship more. IDK Dumb himbo with enough Twink is extremely cute. I really like these two. I admittedly don’t read a lot of Sonic fics, but I wanna know if there’s some good ones with this pairing.

Jetilver: I understand why one wouldn’t ship them together, but I think the idea of Silver learning how to ride extreme gear, even though he can fucking fly, cute. And listen, these two is just a gay middle school couple to me. Jet is a closeted gay teen who is CONVINCED they are straight, and they just wanna be seen as cool but they come off as cringe. And there’s Silver who is just openly himself and can probably blow you up with his mind yet he finds Jet riding on extreme gear and finds it rad as shit. They cool and cute, and they deserve more attention.

That's when Silver decided to go to the academy and become a head detective! He wants to help keep his city safe amd prevent anything bad like that from happening again. No matter what...

He doesn't like talking about her, especially not with his partner. If Blaze ever brings it up he tries to quickly change the subject. He still wears his ring too

Ive also had a few thoughts about Amy. I think I might want to make her a journalist or something like that, trying to get the guts of a good story and ends up getting involved in Sonic and Co's. Shenanigans.

Okay headcannon time: Cole never liked fame which is kind of shown after Zanes death. He doesnt like to be recognized. I'm having too many thoughts of fucking soulmates aus now so have some little tidbits for a potential fic or smth I may write. This is dsmp based I'm sorry.

Soulmates take a while to form, and the bond is only truly established during moments of large emotional impact with your soulmate, whether it's stressful and traumatic or an extremely happy moment. Before then, the bond isn't final and therefore any effects such as intertwined lives doesn't get taken into account until the marks show up. Soulmates also don't form until people are around 16.

Soul marks! They show up when the bond is finally established, and tend to be something mutually significant. It can be a scar, a birthmark or even like a tattoo.

Soulmate bonds can break in certain circumstances, such as an event that may make them feel severely disconnected from their soulmate/others.

Lives are intertwined, if one dies, then the other also dies.

List of people I think would be soulmates:

Wilbur and Quackity, they realised during the burger van arc.

Sapnap and Karl.

George doesn't have a soulmate for reasons (XD wanted George so he was made off-limits)

Tubbo and Ranboo, obviously. The bond doesn't sever with Ranboo's death.

Techno and Phil. It's not romantic or a qpr, they're just destined besties and that's okay.

Ponk and Sam, but after the whole mess their bond was severed. Neither have picked up a new soulmate bond yet.

Ant and Velvet.

Skeppy and Bad, though their bond became severed after the eggpire shit.

Lazarbeam and Vikkstar, their bond was established during the revive book experiment stuff. Platonic or not, your decision.

Niki and Puffy have a sort of strained bond, however they still remain soulmates. Niki and Jack are self-declared platonic soulmates, destined besties if you will.

Purpled and Fundy are platonic soulmates, becoming so bonding over the whole betrayal from Las Nevadas thing.

Schlatt and Quackity were soulmates, though during Manberg it faded until it severed during the red festival.

On the line of faded bonds: Eret and Wilbur (platonic), who's bond was severed during the final control room.

Eret and Foolish become platonic soulmates when Foolish comes to the smp.

Tommy and Tubbo are unofficial platonic soulmates, with Ranboo being pulled into the mix when his and Tubbo's bond is established. They're besties for life and have little marks for each other they all redo. Tubbo still refreshes his mark for Tommy. Tommy keeps both of his.

I feel like these wouldn't have soulmates:

Slimecicle due to his species not having soulmates.

Punz simply because they have no interest in soulmates.

Jack doesn't have an 'official' soulmate but he has an unofficial soulmate.

Connor is too busy being sonic.

And, of course, the last ones I've got some modicum of an idea for: Tommy and Dream, platonic soulmates. Dream specifically fostered that type of bond during exile to keep Tommy linked to him, so he wouldn't be killed during the final disc confrontation.

To expand on discduo, here's some fun tidbits about them:

Their bond is established during the beach party, as that is when Tommy accepts Dream is truly his only friend and the only one to care for him. It's one established due to extreme stress and desperation, and due to the unhealthy obsession on Dream's part.

During exile, Dream purposefully damaged the area Tommy originally kept his mark for Tubbo, punishing him if he tried to fix it or redo it. Tommy eventually stopped doing it all-together.

Little sidenote: Techno was the one who encouraged him to redo it after exile, despite thinking that nobody in L'Manberg wanted Tommy, because he values the importance of soulmates despite everything.

The only reason Dream went with them during the disc confrontation was because Tommy threatened to die otherwise, which would reveal their bond and Dream wanted that secret for fucked up evil reasons. Except, their bond doesn't have their lives intrinsically intertwined, only their mortality (so if Tommy is mortal, Dream is, and if Tommy is immortal, Dream is immortal too).

Their bond hasn't broken despite the prison and such, as revival caused it to become a permanent bond due to Dream being the one to revive him. Tommy tries his best to cover the mark.

Anyways that's my fucked up evil lil soulmate au, just some good old discduo shit going on. Feel free to give more fucked up evil ideas.

 “Why you little...I haven’t chased Sonic since I was twelve! I don’t liiiiiiike him anymore!” Her words slurred because of the fact that she had eight shots. Rouge and Blaze started giggling, but it sounded more like they were choking.

 “Why don’t we call ‘im over?..” Blaze asked, waving her phone in the air. Amy pouted.

 “Go ahead! I-I won’t stahp you!” She stuttered. Truth was, she still loved Sonic. Her crush on him only seemed to increase by day.

 “Move out of the way, Virgin Pussy-cat. Give me that fahking phone.” Rouge snatched the phone out of Blaze’s hands and dialed Sonic’s number.

 “Hello?” Sonic’s voice could be heard cracking a little, as he was listening to a speech delivered by Knuckles about how love is love. (Knuckles is his best when he’s drunk, he’s the smartest at those times)

 “Hey, Big Blue! Bring your asses up here!” Rouge yelled.

 “I’m talkin’ to your girlfriend!” Sonic shouted over at Knuckles, who was pissed that his speech. Rouge started giggling at being called the Echidna’s girlfriend.

 “HEY! Why you laughin’?” Amy asked her best friend.

  “Sonic called me Knuckie’s girlfriend!” She squealed. Blaze and Amy joined in. Within a few minutes, the doorbell rang. Amy answered it, and as soon as she opened the door, Sonic fell on top of her.

  “Heyyyy, Amesss.” Sonic slurred, not bothering to get off of Amy. She didn’t care, probably because of the influence of alcohol, or the fact that she had always dreamed that this would happen.

  “Hey, Sonikku...” She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

  “How long are ya’ll gonna stay like that’?” Shadow asked, pissed off as usual.

   “Yer just jealous ‘cause you don’t have a gal to love~!” Sonic exclaimed. (They aren’t dating)  He leaned into Amy and took in her scent. “You smell like roses ‘n honey..”

    “Nuuuuu...I don’t smell like that, I use scentless shampoo!” She yelled out. Sonic only chuckled and grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up.

    “Whaddya say, Ames? Shall we take dis to the bedroom?” Sonic questioned the flustered pink hedgie, before a sober Lyra busted through the door.

    “AHHHHH! IT’S THE FUCKING FBI! STICKS WAS RIGHT!! SHE KNEW THAT SPIES WOULD BE AFTER MY TAIL WHEN I STOLE THOSE MCDONALD’S FRIES-”

    “Shut up Knuckles! I’m not a spy! Everyone go home before you end up Gang Banging!” She yelled.

    “Hmph. I wouldn’t mind that...” Shadow stated, eyeing Knuckles and Rouge getting a bit too intimate for Silver and Blaze’s liking. Lyra’s face looked horrified.

   “Oh, fuck no.” Lyra pounced on top of Shadow and chaos controlled him back to his house. She saw that Knuckles was starting to take off Rouge’s clothes. She threw Shadow’s chaos emerald at them. She turned to Blaze and Silver. “You guys fine getting home on your own?” She asked the two. They seemed a little tipsy, but nothing serious. Blaze looked somewhat sober at this point. They walked out the door, thankful that Lyra didn’t use aggression on them.

    “Sonic~! Stop it! Lyra’s still in the room!~” Amy squealed, as Sonic appeared to be doing something to her neck. Lyra got excited, and by reflex, she took out her phone.

    “Wait no, I’d be in big trouble, wouldn’t I...OH WELP.” She walked over to where the two lovehogs were making out, and dragged Sonic up to the bedroom, while Amy was in his arms. “I mean, I really don’t want you to, but you guys should really stop. You aren’t even dating, let alone confess!”

   “Well then. Let’s do foreplay then confess. Hey girl, you look nice, let’s fuck, oh you want to? Great let’s go. Babe I’ve loved you ever since I met you and I don’t care if what we’re about to do is unforgettable, and you might kill me in the morning, but I don’t care. Story time with Kezi.... ^^;

Hey guys… it turns out that turning in early when you're not used to sleeping means you wake up hella early even though you were exhausted and still tired. And well when you lie in bed awake for a couple hours your mind kinda has time to wonder and think.. 

 So yeah… There's a little memory that's been plaguing me recently and kinda randomly hit hard tonight as I actually had time to process recent events. It's nothing big, just a story about friendship and betrayal… It came back into my head recently because the other week my friends had forgotten to pick me up for this thing. I'd chatted with one of them in the morning and it sounded pretty definite but then when I waited for a couple hours with my coat, shoes, my bag ready and everything… well I don't even know what happened and frankly I haven't asked. That wasn't too bad but I had this nagging thought in the back of my head that it was happening again…

You might not know this… well not many do but I kinda have a little bit of a fear of missing out and I'm really sensitive to being left behind or feeling like I've been forgotten. By telling you this story from my past I'm not looking for sympathy or anything but just to get this off my chest to hopefully give myself some piece of mind. Maybe I'll stop thinking about it if I tell you guys?... It's not too bad of a story and I know a lot of you have gone through much worse but as a sensitive kid who's confidence and self worth had already been knocked to zero at this point in my life this just really affected me... anyway let me tell you about her..

You see I had this friend, she was my best friend, It was me, her and our other bestie against the world. The three of us together through thick and thin, we had promised to be best friends forever. I made friendship bracelets and we had best friend necklaces.

Every time I went away the first thing on my mind was what gift can I bring back for her. I really looked up to her, sure she was a couple months younger but she had such confidence and everyone loved her, she was like the star, the hero of a story and I could be her sidekick...

Our parents were good friends so we have known each other since forever. We were the admins of our own little friend club that our other friends were members of. In school we all used to play sonic and mario, or families or drag most of the class into a huge game of girls vs boys. We had been in the same classes all the way through primary school. We even had this little imaginary cafe called cafe coco i made up, and we had this plan of opening it together when we were older. I'd renamed Wednesday's as her day because I used to go over every week. 

We were inseparable…. or so I thought…

When we got to high school we were put in different classes…

 "ok, we can make this work, let's just hang at play... I mean break time."

I suggested... and she agreed to meet me at staircase 4 at break and lunch every day. It would be great, she could meet my new friends and I could meet hers. We could all be one big group of friends and play tag or hide and seek or push each other down the hill, maybe even play sonic and mario like we always did…. 

But…. She never came…. I waited… told my friends to go to lunch without me because she'd come… of course she would, she had to... she promised. . . . I waited longer… and longer…. just 5 more minutes… I checked up the stairs just in case she thought I'd ment up them instead of at the bottom… nope not on any of the four levels… well she'll be here any minute...

 "Ok so maybe she forgot today, easily done right, I'll just ask her about it later when our parents meet up...…" I told myself.

So I did, I talked to her and she said she was sorry for forgetting. 

"Ok yeah that's fine we can try again tomorrow don't worry about it." 

. . . 

Again the next day… nothing… she didn't come again but I waited, alone at the bottom of staircase 4…. I didn't have a phone yet so It's not like I could just shoot her a message so I waited of course. I didn't want to let her down… 

Then the next day… and the next, weeks went by and every time I asked she said sorry and we would re-arranged to meet again… but she never came…

 I stopped waiting for so long, each time a couple minutes less until I finally gave up… So I just went and hung out at the library with my other (and not so new anymore) friends...

Then the next time we saw each other… Well I did the stupidest thing and I'd felt bad so I apologised for not going to wait and she told me she noticed because she had gone and waited for me… so yet again we arranged to meet there…

It really shouldn't have surprised me yet it really did when she hadn't shown up again…

 Soon enough after waiting most of my first year of high school for her… I gave up. Obviously her new friendships with the popular group were way more Important than hanging out with an uncool, childish, geeky, embarrassing childhood friend… she then after a while longer stopped talking with me and well… the last smidgen of our friendship had officially dissolved and died in my heart….

I still really care and worry about her… but we haven't talked in years…

Since then I've built my confidence up quite a bit and I have really good friends now but I'm still kinda insecure about being forgotten, left behind or replaced. . . If I don't hear from someone in a while I worry… I'm just kinda nervous about keeping friendships… . 

So there is a little story from my past… hope it didn't bore you… and that you've learned a little about me, like how I'm naive and overly trusting. ^^;
