The melody flowed through my fingertips, echoing through the halls of Croft Manor. This connection with music captures emotions words can't. Being here at Lara's stunning home always brings back a flood of memories, especially our college days at CULA. We were sorority sisters at Delta Nu, bonded by late-night study sessions, shared laughter, and daring adventures. One adventure stands out. We worked together, building a shelter, rationing food and water, and signaling for help. It was harrowing, but it strengthened our bond and taught us resilience. Eventually, we were found, exhausted but exhilarated. The experience left an indelible mark, reminding us that even when lost, we can always find our way back, especially together. Get Me to the Greek

We grow up being taught not to judge others. To be ourselves. Not to care what others think of us. Be our own sunshine. Build other girls up. Don't tear other girls down. All of the strong, independent, I am woman feminism stuff.

Then, we send them off to college & support/encourage their decision to rush. Don't get me wrong, I am a sorority alum. I did the vaseline on your teeth smile and the pinch your cheeks so they're pink charades. I've sang the songs and chanted the elite chants that made us believe we were the best.

The idea of a sorority never appealed to me. I had learned long before college, large groups of girls create drama. But, after spending a year on campus, in the dorms, going home every weekend, I realized I wanted to meet new people. Make new friends. Get involved in all the fun events created just for the Greek. And, so I did.

20-something years later, I listened to my niece every night and every morning on the phone during rush week. It was horrible. You are judged after a 10 minute interaction. You are forced to smile and be engaged when you've been running from house to house in the 100�� Alabama heat. Everyone is nice to you. So naturally, you get excited.

The next day you wake up, excited yet nervous to get your schedule. Who kept me? Who dropped me? Went did Sally get invited back to 12 houses and I was only invited back to 8? You get no feedback. No details on the process. And how does that leave a vulnerable girl who is starting over, away from home, and just wanting to make new friends and be a part of something feeling? Depressed. Like she's not good enough. Like no one likes her. Frustrated. Anxious. Homesick.

Sure. Maybe you get into a sorority but that doesn't mean it was the one you felt most at home in. It may even be the most desired sorority on campus, but not the one you thought were your people. But hey, someone accepted you. Right? No. Wrong. You still feel a tinge of excitement because of the gifts and the screaming and the gorgeous house. But, you still feel rejected. And, quite possibly, out of place.

Not all girls are cut from the Greek cloth, fitting into that stereotypical southern rich and beautiful, peppy and proud, extroverted and Miss Popular box. Some girls just want a home away from home. To find a few girls she can call her best friends from college. Someone she can trust. Girls she knows will be there when her mom is too many miles away.

I love the Greek life. I met so many people, have so many memories, and was way more involved on campus than I ever would have been otherwise. But, if you asked how many of those girls I still talk to today. Outside of social media. Zero. Not a single one.

I would never discourage my niece from going Greek because it can be a ton of fun. But, she isn't me. And her school is bigger than mine was with more than 4 times the options. They have the largest rush class of any college. It. Is. Competitive.

We spend 18 years building them up. Preaching to them about their worth. Telling them not to judge others. Then we send them off to college and within the first couple of days, they are judged and rejected over a 10 minute interaction.

I've said, more times than I care to admit, "trust the process." And, maybe it works. Sometimes. For some girls. If they fit into a box. But for others it kills their self-esteem, leaving them more fragile, more insecure. They feel out of place because they are in a place chosen for them. Not by them. They have been rejected more than they have been accepted. And that...well, that just isn't cool.

Tem um bom papo, um beijo bom,  é carinhosa.

Ela não quer relacionamento sério só porque é legal com você.  Não precisa fugir. RECIPROCIDADE no meu ponto de vista é você retribuir o carinho dela por você.  

E se você não quer mais meu amigo, ninguém te obriga a ficar com ela. Mas você poderia ter o mínimo de respeito e chegar nela, falar e explicar que vocês estão em momentos diferentes. Te garanto que é muito melhor do que sumir e ignorar. 

Isso é atitude de moleque de 12 anos. 

Então da próxima vez que isso acontecer tenha RESPEITO pela pessoa que você beijou, pelo corpo que você tocou. 

Tenha empatia pela mulher que ela é e pelo que ela entregou à você.  

Não seja esse filho da puta de novo.

Nosso corpo é nosso templo, é solo sagrado. E se ela ofereceu à você,  não usa e joga fora cara. Isso não se faz. 

Ela pode até nem querer compromisso. Mas ela com certeza quer respeito. Então me ouve. Não seja mais esse cara.
