something funny about Eggman in the Olympics, in the first game Beijing he says "I'm the best in the world!" when he breaks the world record
but in Sochi he says the same thing literally every single time he scores a goal in Ice Hockey, while not breaking any world records, even when his team isn't winning either
his ego is so huge, he doesn't need a world record or even to be winning to truly believe and proudly claim he's the best in the world! he loves himself so much, it's so cute for an evil egotistical bastard 🥰💜

#orkowhereheshouldntbe#real life#fencing#i wanted to make him fence. i'm sure that's what you wanted#i just couldn't find an image i thought i could stick him in#what with the scale of him it would be hard to insert him into an image and have it look right with the swords and all if that makes sense#anyway. i think about the 'engarde...allez!' from mario and sonic at the olympic games beijing 2008 often

-ENGLISH-
This year I was expecting a new Mario and Sonic at the Olympics game until I heard the news, so I decided to draw a farewell to both of them. This saga marked my childhood, I only got to play a few games for the handheld and 2 board games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2026 and Tokyo 2020). I had a lot of fun with them as much as I could. See you!!

Honestly such a weird franchise if I think about it. A line of Mario sports games? Sure there’s Mario Tennis and such it’s not that weird. A line of Sonic sports games? Kinda weird if it’s not running lol but Sonic is a sporty guy. A cross over between the two franchises was bound to happen one day - apparently there was a big battle between their respective companies (Nintendo and Sega) like before I was born so now that things were less tense it makes sense for corporations to make money off the concept. However a cross over sports game officially licensed by the olympics? That’s pretty weird right?
I have the first game: Beijing 2008, the first Winter one: Vancouver 2010 and then London 2012. (It’s kinda weird kids born in 2008 are old enough to use tumblr now. They’ve never known a world without Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.) The franchise has a game for each Olympics up through Tokyo 2020, I just don’t have them. Honestly if you’re looking to play the games it’s best to just get one summer and one winter game. London 2012 might have a few more features and playable sports than Beijing 2008, but fundamentally they’re the same. As a kid, I saw no use in continually getting a new game nearly identical to one I already had.
Beijing 2008 is rather simple- Mario and Sonic in the middle of a race, mirroring each other’s movements to create a fun symmetry as both leap over a hurdle. This is the first game the two mascots are both in so a race makes sense. Play off the rivalry the two companies had. The background is a bit simple the track is clear and distinctive but it took a bit for me to realize there were hurdles in the art. They blend into the gray of the stadium honestly. The people in the crowd look like TV static which I think is fun. Behind Mario we can see someone is holding a Mario flag, behind Sonic someone is holding and Eggman flag, and between them someone holds a flag of China. I like this idea but I think the flag should have been Sonic or the flag on Mario’s side should have been a different Mario character’s. Idk it just bothers me.
Anyway I like that the top of the stadium loops into an oval, revealing a blue sky and the 2008 Olympic logo. It’s good framing! Though they could have blended the white background of the logo in better with the clouds or have tried to make it stick out More but that’s just a nitpick.

So, I know Pokemon and Chao come to visit and will live there sometimes, but does Wondaria get other visitors, like Mario, Link, or Animal Crossing villagers?
It was all a process…
Wondaria’s first contact with the Multiverse was through Mario and Sonic, when they participated at the Olympic Games for the very first time (Beijing, China); the red plumber and the blue blur have helped out in skyrocketing the popularity of some Magis since 2008. Overrall, it was a calm and peaceful period, and there wasn’t a lot of big changes.
However, the calm came to an end thanks to certain events…
Nova’s arrival to Wondaria (the ONLY benign event!);
Thanos and the Avengers’ irresponsibility and negligence;
Galeem and Dharkon’s invasions.
These events have thrown the Multiverse out of their balance more than ever before. With these anomalies (and possible casualties) in mind, Nova creates the Wondarian Bureau of Multiversal Rescue; a program specialized on the aid and protection of the refugees of the Multiverse.
And believe or not, but the Magis have participated in the events of World of Light, helping out Kirby in saving his companions and successfully putting an end to Galeem and Dharkon’s terrors (if you really think about it, the Magical Guardians are basically war veterans!)
After the monsters’ defeat, an alliance has been made with all of the worlds that have been affected by the war, so they now work together, trying to get by in the fragile cosmic web that is the Multiverse.
So, yeah; there are occasional visits from these colorful outsiders.

Sonichu 11 Page 3
ROBBIE SONEE: So the stockings were hung on the fireplace with care; we thwee childwen knowing Santa would be there. Yay!
SONICHU: Yes, partner, you have been very good for helping me put up the decorations and all.
ROBBIE: Yeah!
SONICHU: What are you thinking Santa will put in your stocking?
ROBBIE: Santa will give me some candy, and I’ve asked him to put the new Wii game with Uncle Sonic in it. Ooh! And I asked him for the big Lego police station set, and all the stuff Cewa, Chwistine, you and mama wanted too!
SONICHU: Well, we’ll see what he brings us. In any case, for mama and me, we have our presents already.
ROBBIE: What did you get, daddy?
SONICHU: Being blessed with you three young ones every day; our little angels.
ROBBIE: Yeah! We try to keep you and mama happy. Yay!
Robbie misquotes “A Visit From St. Nicholas” (better known as “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”), and Sonichu commends his decorating prowess. Robbie’s Christmas wishlist consists of candy, Legos, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, referring to the original game released for the Wii to commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
When asked about his Christmas present, Sonichu answers with the saccharine response that he already has his present, three darling children.
To quote Anna Karenina, “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” The Sonichu family is incredibly happy, and thus incredibly dull.

Published by Nintendo in Japan and by Sega in other regions, it was released on the Wii in November 2007 and the Nintendo DS handheld in January 2008. Outback, Chucklefish & Terminator
IT’s that’s time again, yep, the Nerds are here with another fantastic episode of random pop culture news. So please ensure your seats are in the upright position and trays are folded away as we are expecting to experience turbulence. This week we are taking a look at Western Australia with Buck. Apparently NASA and the European Space Agency are spending time there in preparation for their upcoming missions to Mars. Apparently it is as close as you can get to Mars conditions without going there. Just with super spikey Spinnefex grass to poke holes in your clothes, body, and anything else you put near it. This stuff is more painful than a cactus. But the main reason why NASA and the ESA have scientist out here isn’t for an all-expenses paid holiday. No, they are here to work. What is that work, well it is the first topic so listen in.
Next we hear about a bunch of dead beats who didn’t pay a kid for his hard work making an awesome game. That’s right, a gaming studio has actually shown themselves to be a bigger bunch of scumbags then a politician on the campaign trail. Apparently they only have a small number of employees though, so it was all just some misunderstanding. Wait a minute, hold on, Buck hit’s a sore point here and makes sense in regards to what the dirtbags are up to. Of course this is utterly outrageous, particularly if he is right; my goodness, if he is we’ll never hear the end of it. But if he is, oh the humanity, oh no, this is devastating. But if you want to know more of what I am rambling on about then you know what to do, that’s right, listen in.
At the sound of Tinker Bell waving her magic wand please turn the page… ohh, um, wait a second, are you still here? Dang nabbit! Well in that case We have the DJ for you with a story about a new spin-off for the terminator. James Cameron has announced his plans to reboot the series and is planning to do so after he finishes the Avatar series. So it is a race to see what comes out first, the new reboot of Terminator or Star Con, um, Star Citizen… Well I think we will all be old, even the Rolling Stones won’t be touring anymore by then. Perhaps One Direction will be back together for a reunion tour…oh the humanity, the torture, please stop. On a better note check out our friends at “Off With The Fairies” another outstanding TNC podcast. After this we have the usual shout outs, remembrances, birthdays and special events. As always, stay say, look out for each other and stay hydrated.
