Angel Island Guardians Wachowski pt 1 backstory
tldr: Sonic Unleashed based universe where Mobians, Chao, Humans + sacred creatures just exist. Like real life except there's Mobians just chilling on the streets + in the history books.
This exists for 2 reasons: More Mobians, Sonic needs friends. And giving Tom and Maddie some things to do for plot/character aside from, "this our foster kid Sonic and the family nemesis Eggman".
This is my sandbox, please sit and enjoy. Incorporating video game/TV show lore in broad strokes, just take what you want.
Part 1: general changes (here)
Part 2: Sonic movie 1 + 2 changes (https://www.tumblr.com/lazlolullaby/766607274156376064/angel-island-guardians-wachowski-pt-2-movie?source=share)
~millions of years ago, when the Earth was created
In ancient times, the Master Emerald and the Chaos emeralds were created when Light and Dark Gaia first clashed. Mobians and Humans have used them for power, fought over them, but they are now considered myths. Their power to change thought into reality created some sacred beasts like the Pheonix from Unleashed, weird architecture / rock loop de loops, etc. Chao gardens exist as protected areas across the globe.
~50 years ago (only to be revealed in Movie 3)
A joint Mobian/Human project of researching and healing diseases that affect one species but not the other was created. Several creatures were created in pursuit of immortality. (Involve the family of Dr. Starline, Tails, or Sticks as their main Mobian scientist?). The Biolizard happened, Shadow was created for Maria, the Gizoid incident, etc. But it was shut down violently by GUN. Any creatures that were made were placed in cold storage.
Per the fandom theory, Grandpa Wachowski shot Maria and had issues with it. He left to Green Hills.
~25 years ago (only to be revealed in movie 2)
The Echidnas gathered the Emeralds + were about to attack the Master Emerald Temple and the Chao. Tikal summoned the Owls + and tried to fight. The Temple was raised out of the ground to become Angel Island. The island gets teleported away. Tikal's dedication changed many minds and (most) Echidnas stopped being Warriors and decided just to live as civilians.
Angel Island was teleported to Green Hills. It floats above the forests and moves in a pattern. There's a few spots per year for roughly 1-2 weeks that gets it close enough to the ground so people can jump on it and climb the sheer rock face. It's difficult for most people and Mobians.
Dad Wachowski and his bestie, Maddie's Dad... uh...Dad Sumpter, figure it out. There's just a small Chao garden and a Temple for the Master Emerald, room for a small edible garden, but due to the altitude and rain conditions it's hard to grow anything substantial. The Spirit of Tikal tells the besties what happened. They decide to keep it a secret, because why would they want unlimited power anyway? They tell people that it's too hard to climb, and spend the next few years visibly "training" to get strong enough to climb up there.
(training where they go to the local rock climbing place and throw buckets of the water on each other to simulate rain. There's a local competition now.)
Then they take pictures of barren places for the research + get the Government to sign off that it's a highly dangerous hike and there's just the Chao. The Guardians have to divert attention from thrill seeking tourists, but it's not bad. Some locals suspect something is up there, but don't pry.
Tom Wachowski + Maddie Sumpter grow up each year watching their family climb up the Island and check in on the Emerald and the Chao. Then they do it too. Rachel was trained, but she's been out of practice since moving to San Francisco. Since they don't have kids, they're looking into getting a club together of locals who are in on it. Maybe the Thorndykes, since they're rich and don't need to have jobs to live? But they only have a vacation home, so it's not feasible.
Also the Wachowskis have Chao Companions that come down and chill with them sometimes. Based on the SA2 Chao they are both adults. Tom's is Normal/Power, Maddie's is a Fly/Power. (Cheese is still normal/baby, but I like the peachy Fly/Run to match Cream the Rabbit)
(image id: infographic chart showing the difference between the Chao forms based on stats of Normal, power, run, fly, swim, and baby form.)
~15 years ago (also movie 2 + adding context for movie 1)
Longclaw comes back and says she's got a better plan for the Master Emerald. Dad Wachowski and Dad Sumpter team up with her to bury the Master Emerald in the Ruins and teleport and hide the compass in the Siberian mountains.
Unfortunately. Locke the Echidna followed them back to Angel Island. Dad Sumpter convinced Locke that he was the only one who knows where the Emerald is. Locke kills Dad Sumpter in front of Dad Wachowski, Tom, and Maddie. It's traumatic, Locke escapes.
Maddie stops climbing for grief reasons + focuses on her veterinary degree. Tom supports her. Since there's no more Master Emerald, Tom breathes easy for a bit. But then he's feeling lost without something to protect, what his family has been doing since before he was born.
Tom is still a cop, but in this world he's got "unexcused absences" (Chao emergencies), "a bad exam record" (issues with the material), and "won't meet his arrest rates" (that would follow kids for life for a dumb mistake!) so he's not qualified for Sheriff. Which is dumb because he knows the protocols, knows the people, people trust him.
(Small town "technically loose cannon" cop that's less likely to abuse his authority/power than actual real life cops, definitely still "copganda"/"this is the Ideal Cop that wields his Authority for Good Reasons", but it balances with the military depiction of "Too Much Force is Not Enough Force" that pops up in 1+2 and i hope to hell that the military continues to be assholes in Movie 3.)
anyway the local park rangers are trying to poach Tom because he's great at Search and Rescue + knows the emergency town protocols + knows all of the forest trails. (While park rangers do have some of the same issues as Cops, there's less connotations. Tom Deserves Better than being a Cop. Sonic and the franchise deserve better than Copganda.)
Wade is the Sheriff instead. Yes he's still very inconsiderate and incompetent at his job. Yes it's funny.
Maddie is both a pet veterinarian and an emergency Mobian and Chao doctor. Her and Tom trade off when they go to the Garden.
Meanwhile on the other side of the world...
Longclaw finds Sonic and takes care of him. We don't know why Sonic has superpowers he just does. we love that for him.
Locke the Echidna was unfortunately, not happy he missed the Emerald, grabbed his son and stole "the Flames of Disaster" so Knuckles could be powerful, and raised him to fight. That's why Knuckles is the Last Echidna Warrior, sworn to find and protect the Master Emerald.
Blaze, unable to take her family birthright as the guardian of Iblis, ended up with Mephiles power set. Smoke manipulation and shadow teleport. She's training to get the Flames back.
Silver got involved with the power transfer somehow and is actually the Iblis Trigger, not that anyone knows it. He's training to also head out with Blaze to collect the Flames.
(but this Knuckles + Blaze + Silver drama doesn't happen until the TV show.)
Locke thought Longclaw kept the compass to the Master Emerald for herself. He gathered allies to attack her. Same as in Movie 1, Sonic was sent away for his protection.
Sonic was sent to Angel Island. He was traumatized and mute for a bit, swore never to talk about his speed powers. He spends a few days alone + was afraid to approach the Chao until he calmed down.
Tom was able to collect him and give him to a local Mobian foster family. Vanilla the Rabbit takes Sonic in, and he's a great big brother to Cream. Amy is "the girl next door who could beat you senseless". Tails' parents just drop him off in the woods one day and Sonic finds him.
Sonic grows up in Green Hills, surrounded by friends but still restless. There's projected movies in the park, so he can still see "Speed" and adore Keanu Reeves. (sudden impulse to make Sandra Bullock a Mobian. the exploding bus can only be driven by Mobians. Miss Congeniality but with Mobians.)
Cream and Tails both learn how to fly, so they go to Angel Island whenever they want. Sonic can also jump off of some mountains to get to the Island before it's time. This is where Cream meets Cheese.
Tom has a slight panic, but doesn't say anything about the Temple or the Master Emerald until "it's relevant" (see: when movie 2 happens). He just says that it's hard to get up and down for most people, his family checks in on the Chao when they can, please tell your family when you'll be up there so they won't worry.
.
.
.
so. that's all the set up and world-building notes. Hope you liked it~ You've got blanket permission to use these ideas in your fanworks, but NO AI please, it's not enrichment if you're not doing it.

Who is the new character on Sonic x Shadow Generations?
This was the question that was going non-stop in everyone's head.
It definitely isn't Tails since Shadow absolute hate him for no reason
Since the game drops in october, i might as well make a theory about it and guess it.
So here are some characters that might be teaming up with Shadow.
Let's start with simple ones
1. Omega
We saw him appear in some of the games(Sonic adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, 06), and he was teamed up with Shadow and Rouge mostly.
2. Silver The Hedgehog
He was also like Omega teamed up with Shadow in 06 game. But unlike Omega he was sent to kill Shadow but teamed up with him to stop Mephiles.
He is also in Sonic and the black knight, a son, Galahad, to Shadow, in other words, Sir Lancelot.
Also, they have some similarities in their personality, powers, and form.
3. Cream The Rabbit
She hasn't appeared in Sonic games for few years now and it might be her who will assist Shadow.
Shadow and Cream seems to have very good relationship together. He acts like an older brother or an uncle to Cream. We can see that in archie comics.
And last one who i think it will shock many Sonic fans and that it will finally make their appearance in the game.
And.................... that character...................................... is.................................... no other than............................
4. Eclipse The Darkling
Yes i know what you're all thinking but hear me out.
Eclipse and Shadow share some similarities towards eachother.
Eclipse is fiercely loyal to his race and is willing to do whatever he can to make sure that they will not go on the verge of extinction. He is at times is playful in cruel ways and even at times mocks his foes while fighting them. He is the only one in Black Death's army to have a free will.
Even though he was created to destroy Shadow the Hedgehog, he decided that it would be better if he can convince him to return to the Black Arms. He often refers to Shadow as "brother" even though they were both created by two different masters.
While Eclipse is loyal to Black Death, he, at times, questions his orders or even tries to make the situations for the Dark Arms better. Sometimes it works, while other times it doesn't. Eclipse cares for no individual that isn't part of his species. He would rather them use them for the good of the Black Arms or just to rid them of their existence. All he wanted is to do right for his endangered race, even if it means destroying another to save it.
He holds a sense of responsibility and greatly cares for the hatching Dark Arms, despite the fact that they are a hive mind.
Doesn't this reminds you a bit of Shadow.
Shadow was created by Gerald Robotnik in order to cure Maria but after Maria's death he brainwashed Shadow by changing Maria's wish.
He also taunted Sonic in Sonic x many times and also in the games too.
After his redemption he starts to care about people around him and he doesn't admit that aloud but he does care. We can see that in archie comics, games and shows.
We can see that in archie comics, Sonic x, 06, Sonic Generations, Sonic Forces, Sonic Prime and etc
The difference between them is:
1. Their form
2. One of them choose to rebel against Black Arms, defeat Black Doom and become better while the other one didn't but still try to get better
3. Shadow didn't care about his kind but cared about his friends and people on Mobius. Eclipse cares about his kind but doesn't care about people on Mobius.
Well that’s it for this theory. Please Share Your Thoughts About This.

ok fuck i think i figured out a timeline regarding sonic's (and scourge's by extension) age in new game. i wanted to use game timeline logic but with my heacanon ages for sonic throughout the games. here's what i came up with for sonic as a reference
sa1: 13 sa2: 15 heroes: 15-16 06: 16 shadow: 17 unleashed: 17 forces: 17-18 frontiers: 18-19 new game: 21
scourge is 2 years older than sonic a..allegedly?? in the comics i believe he was like 17 for some reason???? idk i see him as 17 when sonic is 15 idk how that works but hey alt timelines i guess. so in new game he'd be 23! amy would be 20 (i pictured her as 12 in sa1, a year younger than sonic), tails would be 14, and knuckles would be 22! thats all the (main) characters who appear in the comic for reference
i hope this all makes sense!!! i pictured mostly everyone in new game to be young adults. to clarify once again theres no rom shipping in new game so the ages are literally just headcanon stuff. thank u <3

alright kids we fuckin did it
and even managed to first try s-rank the final boss somehow. crazy. im pretty sure that's the only s rank i got in the entire game.
so why did i do it? how do i feel? most of the experience of playing 06 is stuff that really only matters being experienced in the moment, but i took a shot at trying to quantify why i went out of my way to play sonic 06 anno domini 2024, with some subsequent thoughts about each after having finished.
1. silver is there. i like him. it seems most people do these days; no doubt largely due to the comics, but that was absolutely not the case upon his debut. i wanted to see where the character started and if there was truly Anything salvageable from his initial appearance, or if there are any throughlines to his current characterization. verdict: yeah, like, way more than i thought there was going to be actually. it solidly exceeded my expectations here. obviously, i was will to be EXTREMELY lenient about him because hes my special little guy and he is SUCH a gift in idw; but even so he never really did anything like, wrong. like as a character i mean. he's a little annoying sure, but so are most of the characters in this game. i know this would have been infinitely worse back when it was his only appearance, but UNLIKE most of the characters in this game, he is at least also consistent. all in all he's still just kind of a hasty little fuckup here, which is much of why i like him in present.
2. the general notoriety of it. everyone knows sonic 06 is bad. you hear lots of insane stuff about all the various ways in which 06 is bad, but they all feel like such disconnected points by now. you need to get the whole picture you know. the full breadth of it. i think cultural significance for being dogshit is just as interesting as cultural significance for being brilliant. verdict: its so bad. its fascinating. there really were quite a few cool ideas in here but the execution of them all is consistently so, SO baffling. there's the utter lack of polish and functionality yeah, but even underneath that in its base design it there is just so much that's so inherently unintuitive. one really does have to wonder about it. i must, however, stress that poor execution on decent ideas [or in some cases decent execution on bad ideas like, say, omega's fucking bizzare characterization here, and really most of the plot in general especially wrt to elise] is far more forgivable to me than no ideas [most of the boost-era games If I Am Being Frank], or cool ideas with No execution [sonic forces. [i played through it about right in the middle of my 06 journey and it's amazing how that game is like the exact opposite kind of bad from 06. that one is the kind that really pisses me off, as it turns out! you would not believe how hatermoded i got during forces' short duration.]
3. it had a lot more going on than i'd realized. i'd kind of always just held 06 as "the sonic and silver game and sometimes i guess shadow is there also?" but the more i heard about it it was like "wait blaze is in this game? how does that work??" "omega is in this game? AMY is in this game???? PLAYABLE????? how does all that fit together???". in more recent years i've heard people refer to 06 as 'the last sonic game where they really tried', and now that i know my own disdain for boost era games and gameplay was NOT just me being a shitty teen, i figure it would be interesting to see what all that was about. now that the series has returned from its, shall we say, prodigal son arc, i'm in general a lot more willing to explore where things went awry. verdict: turns out it did not in fact fit together very well at all, but again, i respect a blundered attempt at something like this far more than the subsequent several years of "sonic and his one wacky gimmick partner" games that followed. i think anyone genuinely praising this game and its Quite Frankly Pretty Damn Bad characterization is insane, but i do understand the respect for its ideas; and i definitely understand the 'this game could be so good if it was good'-type obsessions. it's certainly a type i am prone to but fortunately it did not get to me with 06.
4. hubworlds. this isn't a full point in and of itself, but it's why i decided to just play the damn game as it is instead of playing project 06 and/or watching the cutscenes on youtube. it feeds largely into the second point of just wanting to experience it as a whole package; but also i just generally like the idea of hubworlds in sonic, and i like that they have missions in them here. verdict: there's not a verdict for this one as it wasn't a question or a curiosity i had. naturally, they're also not good, but i didn't go in expecting to enjoy the sonic 06 hubworlds. i just think they're nicer than only having a map screen or level select.
all in all i think it's kind of impossible for me to hate sonic 06. like at this point you know what it is. you know what it's known for, its reputation far preceeds it. i've dealt with my fair share of janky games, and it actually wasn't nearly as uniquely unplayably nonfunctional as i was expecting. it's bad but it's the amusing kind of bad, and though there's certainly no laughing with it, if you aren't laughing at it you're laughing a yourself for deliberately choosing to play this stupid fucking game 18 years later.
#sonic the hedgehog#sonic 06#bweeeaaahh#btw as gameplay goes omega is the best character it's like not even close#hes straightforward And functional And also incredibly broken. that guy can go anywhere#i'd heard a lot abt how blaze was better than sonic and probably best to play overall but i could not figure out how she worked at all.#my other hot take is that silver is the least bad to play of the main characters#the gameplay Ideas for him are a lot worse but he is again at least Functional. far more than sonic.#he doesnt have much to do but at least the shit he does have works#they expect you to do a lot less with him and the game doesn't fuck you over nearly as much

hi!! I was wondering if you or anyone else could answer a question I have about sonic lore (i only know lil bits of it atm)
Why was Blaze in the ruined future in Sonic 06? I know she's like, a princess from another dimension, but why was she there? Did they just want to use her in a 3D game but couldn't find a way to squeeze her in with the main gang?
um
so
yeah it was the last one
to expand a bit; we don't really like.... know? We don't know. Honestly our best guess is "Sonic Rush was popular so the '06 crew were told to put her in but they had 0 information on her so they just yeeted her in with Silver." Evidence for this being her bio mentioning a cape that only appeared in early concept art of Rush; with this, it's likely that they were only given, like. her concept sheets. Considering how rushed '06 production was, and Rush only releasing one year previously, it's very likely she was added late.
The end with her being like "yeah im totally sealing myself in another dimension" was likely their last-minute attempt to make the games connect, forgetting that Blaze in Rush was like. born in the Sol dimension. Is part of a long family line there. Has a long history there. Heck, her appearance in Rush predates '06's spot on the timeline. She seems to recognize Sonic when Mephiles mentions him and then proceeds to never reference that again, tell Silver to kill Sonic, NEVER TALK TO SONIC DIRECTLY EVEN WHEN THEY'RE FACE TO FACE, SONIC NEVER TALKS TO OR ABOUT HER EITHER WHEN HE CAN SEE HER, OR LIKE IS SHE ACTUALLY FUCKING THERE??? And ANOTHER thing– it's established in-game that Iblis can only be sealed within royalty, so if Blaze actually did "seal Iblis" then she would've HAD to be royalty like in Rush, except how the FUCK could she be with her family line only existing in the Sol dimension––
tl;dr yeah. Yeah there's pretty much no canon explanation for what she was doing there, we just kinda assume that they threw her in with only like half the information they needed.

I definitely agree that sticking Shadow right back into his past is a bad move post 05 (man he hasn't been in the games much since, no I don't count 06)
But in the same turn, it's Sonoc x Shadow Generations, this is serving the same purpose the original Generations is. A lot of kids can't go back and play the 2000s games, this will be their introduction to these stories.
I just want to see what comes after all of this.
From what I've seen, Iizuka has confirmed that basically this is all meant to tie-in to the third movie. So yes, at the end of the day, it is a marketing move to introduce newcomers to Shadow and his story.
The OG Generations wasn't for newcomers, though. It was a love letter to the series for old time fans, in a time where fans were happy with "going back to the roots" (and the reason I prefer it over Mania is that it was a love letter for the whole series, not just a small part of it). A game meant for newcomers was, say, Sonic Heroes which came out at the same time as Sonic X and the boom of Gamecube players who tried SA2B - and even that game was rife with references to past games for the sake of old fans lol.
I dunno, I get the logic, but
they could have promoted SA2, anything from re-releasing it in a slightly polished state to just putting it on sale. It's on Steam. Release it on Switch, I don't know. Promote those old games! They're not garbage!
as pointed out multiple times, it feels disingenuous to have a game where Shadow revisits his past in great detail when that part of his arc is effectively done. Newcomers might not know what a ShTH is, and no way they're going to promote that one, but games are supposed to be valid experiences through time, not just be locally relevant. Then again, Frontiers reopened the arcs of Amy moving on from being a lovestruck Sonic fangirl, Knuckles grappling with his role as the guardian of the ME and Tails gaining confidence away from Sonic, so I guess we're just doing the Adventure games 2.0 now.
this comes after years of the fandom reducing Shadow to his angst out of backlash for the 2010s (I still posits that his portrayal in Forces had nothing wrong with it), the fandom coming up with headcanons like "Shadow was tortured on the ARK because Gerald always saw him as a tool" to really squeeze as much pain from him as possible. So there is definitely this feeling of ST, once again, listening to the most vocal side of the fandom who's just in for the vibes of the blorbo and who hype his writing in SA2 despite it being the lowest point of his character (not in quality, but you know, he was a brainwashed villain and all).
I'm not angry, honest. I'm not a Shadow fan so I'm not personally invested, I'm still intrigued, I hope there are as many references as ShTH as possible and I'm already happy they remembered Battle. It just feels... iffy, the whole thing. Yes: it's just a marketing ploy for the kids who'll come out of the theatres fascinated with Shadow - and we still don't even know what they'll do with him.
#sonic the hedgehog#sonic x shadow generations#how's it that i'm back to talking about sonic and i already feel insufferable#i'm not hyped and i'm not angry it's awful#'a lot of kids can't go back and play the 2000s games' makes me feel old lmao

[deep breath]
i just spent a significant amount of time putting together (a) timeline(s) for every piece of sonic media i can think of minus the racing games because... idk it doesn't matter that much
points of interest under the cut, follow the image link for full size!
origins shows that cd came before sonic 2
just pretend sonic 4 episodes 1 and 2 are classic games. they're styled like classic games and apparently intended to be direct sequels to sonic 3&K
sonic boom is what happens when they go modern but wrong
alternate "forever classic / young" timeline made by phantom ruby fuckery
sonic advance 2 has to take place before sonic adventure because in sonic x (based on adventure) sonic already knew cream
solaris' flame existing causes sonic 06 to happen but it got deleted when they went back in time in Sonic 06 so therefore that never happened
Sonic 06 time fuckery caused displacement with silver and blaze, making silver really confused and placing blaze in the sol dimension i guess
sonic rush and sonic rivals therefore have to happen before the storybook titles because in alternate modes versions of blaze and silver are available and iirc every alternate character in those worlds are based off of sonic's memories of his friends
at least sonic and the secret rings has to happen before colors because sonic directly references "saving genies in magic books"
sonic generations classic sonic is sonic's younger self (likely from sonic 2 due to the absence of classic knuckles and him being mute)
the chao in space short can just be sonic chilling. let him chill. he never gets to chill
sonic lost world has to happen before forces for zavok to be in the picture
idw sonic starts right after "the eggman war" which i presume is sonic forces
sonic prime has to happen before sonic and his friends are separated in sonic frontiers
knuckles then disappears due to what happens in the prologue short
... sonic frontiers happens
i presume that this has taken place over the course of 2 years at the very least due to sonic canonically having a birthday in sonic generations and sonic's birthday seeming to be a pretty big deal in sonic frontiers with all the cosmetics and attention given to it, but looking at all this this has to have happened over a longer period of time because wow that's a lot of shit
there's gotta be another one between sonic blast and sonic advance because there's a shift in style and it feels appropriate
feel like there'd be a significant amount of time between sonic adventure 2 and sonic heroes
something happens between shadow the hedgehog and sonic rush. feels like a good place to put a divide
probably a gap between sonic unleashed and sonic free riders
sonic lost world and sonic forces are so different plus I think there was an irl big gap there
there had to be enough time between the end of sonic forces and sonic prime for everything to be kinda okay again
so that's… maybe 5 or 6 years for all of this? that feels about right. still hectic but y'know

My dear friend from Discord sent me some questions for Silver and Gold, so here we go:
Silver:
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
How utterly, fully and completely determined he is to help others. Silver has a heart of gold and he can't let people in need go by unhelped, it seems. That's the only explanation I can give for why he's collecting apples and doing plane races for ghosts in '06, haha! Not to mention how he's eventually okay with helping Amy out to find Sonic, despite the fact he believes the whole future is hinging on him killing the Iblis Trigger instead. I believe that is the reason Silver keeps going back to the past to prevent devastation from befalling the future: he can't just sit still and let injustices pass otherwise.
3. What's something you have in common with this character?
I like being helpful, but also I am opinionated as hell and quite a hothead at times!
4. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Left-handed Silver still lives in my mind rent-free, but I have actively proven that is not canon, haha. Hmm, I love the idea that Silver eventually stays in the past longer and longer, building up a full life there as well. It's where his friends live, after all! I also like the idea that he becomes a history teacher in the past when he's an adult; I wrote a couple of posts about that once too.
6. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I love making Silver say "Hey, Espio?" in my fics. He does so in Rivals 2, after all! One thing I don't like is that I feel like I've been baby-fying him too much in my older fics, especially in mannerisms. That makes it more difficult for me to read those...
7. Favorite picture of this character?
I really like this sprite from Colours DS! I think he looks very cute with the slightly more tan muzzle; it goes very nicely with his fur, in my opinion.
I also really like how he looks in SEGA Heroes, in part because he was so OP in that game. Look at how serious he is!
This one too, he looks so happy with his appie!! And for the second one the text apparently describes him as having a mischievous side, which I adore as well.
Gold:
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
In the concept art, Gold is 20 centimeters taller than Silver, and yes. Let her be tol!!
3. What's something you have in common with this character?
I get stressed out in mere seconds also, and then I panic quite quickly, rip.
4. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
She was the youngest in an altogether huge family, but the only one with powers, which put quite a divide between her and her older siblings with her parents struggling to help her. Also, she's the one responsible for unleashing the Second Devourer into her world: she opened a Genesis Portal by sheer accident when she was five years old, and promptly the beast escaped and began to wreak havoc. The portal that brought her to Onyx City was thus opened by her as well, in a moment of blind panic. But Gold herself has completely suppressed these memories, due to the guilt eating at her.
6. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
It's been ages since I wrote full fics for her, oh dear... I like the idea that she's infatuated with romance, though! And I guess what I don't like is that I don't have steam for Genesis anymore XD
7. Favorite picture of this character?
This reference sheet is really cute and nicely shows off various expressions she has!

Ok...after several hours..here is (FINALLY) everything that happened in Act 2! :D
Cheers when there were 59 seconds left
Played the drowning theme when there were 10 seconds left
We were told to take out our phones during the I Am All of Me intro
Immediately everyone started cheering when I Am All of Me started
Someone screamed when they showed Maria during IAAOM
I've never heard What I'm Made Of before so I had to mumble along the words XD
Someone kept barking like a dog (going "hoo hoo hoo!"). Can't help but feel that's a reference to Snapcube ("That's so sick it makes me wanna bark like a dog!")
Everyone started screaming at the intro to Open Your Heart
The guitarist didn't do the riff during the instrumental break in Open Your Heart :(
Everyone screamed the second Knight of the Wind started
The audience sang the "woahs" at the start of KOTW
Everyone cheered when Sonic's Knight transformation was onscreen
Audience waved during the second "woah" bit
Johnny did a sword slash at the end of KOTW
Clap along at the start of His World
People cheered when Silver and Blaze showed up oncreen
I think someone screamed when Mephiles showed up
The cheers were deafening when Fist Bump started-
Cheers when Ian Jr showed up
Ian Jr showed up more than Gadget during Fist Bump!
Johnny straight up yelled "We fucking love you!!!"
Johnny fist bumped an audience member
Audience members in the front were jumping at the end of Fist Bump
Johnny asked "Do you wanna..." And the audience started finishing with multiple different songs names or quotes. My guess was "follow me" to lead into City Escape. The correct answer was Reach for The Stars
Wave-along during RftS
Everyone started waving around their flashlights during the end of RtFS
Sing along during Endless Possibilities
Johnny hit an E note at the end of EP
Johnny asked us to get angry for Break Through It All!
Got goosebumps when everyone screamed "you'll wake the beast inside!" and "Don't look down!"
The last chord of BTIA was discordant and dissonant but so cool!!
We're the loudest crowd yet, according to the guitarist-
It was someone's birthday so we all have them a birthday clap! 🎂🎁
Because it's Halloween they performed Pumpkin Hill! 🎃
Everyone started screaming at the start of Pumpkin Hill
Johnny said he wasn't comimg out until everyone stood up for Undefeatable
When everyone screamed "Face your fear" I realized just how much screaming is in the Sonic Frontiers soundtrack-
We totally broke the sound barrier at the end of Undefeatable. The crowd was cheering so loud!!
They were supposed to do the fakeout ending like in the 30th anniversary version, but because we were such a good audience they didn't do it
Everyone screamed the "woo!" during City Escape
Johnny went out into the audience for City Escape
I swear we broke the sound barrier during Live and Learn
I was convinced L&L would never end because Johnny kept shouting people out onstage! :)
Johnny said he wished tonight would never end and he got teared up earlier in the performance.
They played Green Hill as exit music while the credits rolled, and i heard some audience members singing to it.
While I am sad some of my favorite orchestral medleys got cut, like the Sega Saturn Medley, the Sonic 06 Medley, and the Sonic Colors Medley, I do realize that they clearly wanted to focus more on the rock section, what with the songs added. Overall I had an absolute blast and I hope a full video surfaces or I can find my audio of act 2!! So excited if/when it returns to Chicago!! 🦔💙

Progress Report - October 2024
Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. Happy first progress report, and Happy Halloween!!!
I’ve never done one of these before, so bear with me as I try to figure it out.
Very nice news to share: in the past month, I’ve gotten a lot of preliminary planning done, to the point that I have a complete first draft of the outline of Sonic’s story! Of course, there’s still quite a bit I have to do; things will definitely be changed as I get to work on Shadow and Silver’s stories, but it’s a huge chunk of planning that I didn’t expect to be done this quickly. I also made a lot of progress on planning a side story I’m developing…but I fear I’ll say too much if I elaborate. Lastly, I’m working on - you guessed it - planning what designs I might want to change, and how I want to change them.
Anyways, I wanted to answer some questions some of you might have.
Q&A
How much of the game will you be rewriting?
I’m actually rewriting a lot less than I thought I would be (but still quite a lot). I’m trying to take the base concepts/structure of what was in the original game and make sense of it. Not everything will make the cut, but I’m trying to stay as close to the original vision of the game as possible with a little bit of my headcanons sprinkled in. Think of it a bit like the Resident Evil remakes; the broad strokes are (mostly) the same, but specific details differ.
How many stories will it have?
Four: Sonic’s, Shadow’s, Silver’s, and Final, same as the original.
What inspired this?
I’ve seen a couple people rewrite Sonic ‘06 over the years (mainly Story Surgery and Garrulous64), and I’ve wanted to try to do it myself for a while. The fact that Mephiles showed up again in Sonic x Shadow Generations (and there is some SHIT to unpack there) was the final kick I needed to start. There’s also, of course, the Snapcube dub. Expect at least one reference.
Will it be playable?
Sort of. It won’t be playable like the original (I’m nowhere NEAR able to program an entire game by myself, and I don’t want the gameplay to be Sonic ‘06 Two: Electric Boogaloo), but I will be describing my vision for if this game was actually playable as it goes along. Instead of traditional Sonic gameplay, I’ll be presenting the story in the form of a visual novel.
What engine are you using?
Ren’Py! It’s a free, Python-based engine made specifically for visual novels that’s really easy to learn and use! It’s actually the engine that Doki Doki Literature Club was made in; if that doesn’t speak for how versatile Ren’Py is, I don’t know what does.
Are you doing this all by yourself?
As of now, yes. If I do end up bringing someone else on for art, voice acting, etc., it probably won’t be for a while.
Did you say voice acting?
Yep! Ideally I do want to have voice acting. Whether or not it WILL, it’s too early to say.
Which characters will be staying?
As of now, all major characters will be returning. Whether that ends up sticking is to be determined.
And Sonic Man, of course. Who could forget Sonic Man?
Will [insert plot point] still be in the final version?
That’ll have to wait at least until I have a concrete outline - and there’s some things I want to keep a secret until the final release.
Will Elise still kiss Sonic?
Nope. First, I don’t ship it (but no shame if you do!). Second, even if I did, the current plan is to at least try to leave any ships up to interpretation.
Is Rush/Rivals canon?
No. Silver and Blaze are going to have a new backstory which’ll probably get expanded on at some point. Canon is a sandbox and I am a five year old at play.
When is the finished game coming out?
No clue yet, I literally started this a month ago and have real life to juggle with this.
Where can I get the most up to date info?
These monthly progress reports are going to be the primary source for information. I also might be dropping things more frequently depending on what stage of production I’m in, but that remains to be seen. Regardless, any updates will be the same on both the official tumblr (r-2006-official) and the Game Jolt page (sorry, itch.io people).
And that’s pretty much it! Hopefully by next month I’ll have more to report on. If you have questions you’d like me to answer next month, leave a comment!
Thanks for reading, and until next time!

COSMIC HEART ZONE TIMELINE INDEX
This is just an index that'll list each game within the timeframe of this Alternate Universe starting with Sonic Adventure all to the way to the most recent Sonic game. This will be updated as more asks that refer to what happened in each game's story and/or appearance by Cosmo are included. Note that this isn't 100% a checklist, as a game can be covered multiple times depending on the ask.
Sonic Adventure - How They Met, Confusmo, Big Friendly Neighbor, Cosmo's Tree Form
Sonic Adventure 2 - Cosmo the Hero, Cosmo's Hero, The Asteroideae, Shadow's Visit, Maria Robotnik
Sonic Advance Trilogy - Cosmo's Friends, Team Names, Minty Kisses
Sonic Battle - Remembering Emerl
Sonic Heroes - Cosmo the Hero, First Date, They're Detectives and Thorns In Your Side
Sonic Rush Series - Royal Acquaintances
Shadow the Hedgehog - Cosmo's Hero, Big Friendly Neighbor, The Asteroideae, Shadow's Visit
Sonic Riders Series - Cosmo the Hero, Social Savvy
Secret Rings - (None yet! Send an ask if you'd like to hear what happened then!)
Mario & Sonic Series - Social Savvy
Super Smash Bros. Series - Plant Powers, Social Savvy
(Note: Although Smash is listed, this does not mean Cosmo somehow got playable in the CHZ timeline. It's staying Sonic only as it is for us in official Smash games. This is more so for crossover references. If you want to hear about Cosmo in a fighting game. Ask about Sonic Battle instead!)
Sonic Unleashed - Confusmo
Black Knight - (None yet! Send an ask if you'd like to hear what happened then!)
All Stars Racing Series + Team Sonic Racing - Cosmo the Hero, Social Savvy
Sonic Colors - (None yet! Send an ask if you'd like to hear what happened then!)
Sonic Generations/Shadow Generations - Classical Cuties, Shadow's Visit, Daddy Issues Part 2
Sonic Lost World - (None yet! Send an ask if you'd like to hear what happened then!)
Sonic Forces - Heart of the Resistance
Sonic Frontiers - Daddy Issues Part 1
Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog - The Game is A-Root
These games below can still be asked about but may be difficult for one reason or another
Sonic Shuffle - (Cosmo would likely be at most an extra character ala Big and Gamma and not in the story. As amusing it may be to point out that Lumina and Void have similar design similarities to Cosmo) Sonic Pinball Party - (Can... we really expect much from a Pinball game for Cosmo to be involved in?) Sonic 06 - (The game retconned itself, even if we did cover what she might have done in the game. She won't remember it) Sonic Rivals - (I guess maybe at most a minor role in the 2nd game since Tails gets involved? Otherwise I'm not sure Cosmo would fit a game about rivals necessarily) Sonic Chronicles - (Had a cliffhanger ending that will never ever be resolved. And I'm sure as heck not going to be able to resolve it myself! Cosmo's existence as a canon character isn't just going to create a Sonic Chronicles 2 out of nowhere) Most games set before Sonic Adventure 1* - (That includes Sonic 4, Mania, and Superstars)
*Though it just could cover what Tails said when telling Cosmo of his past adventures

CAN YOU FUCK BLAZE THE CAT?
From one purple cat to the other. Strap in, this is when it starts to get a bit weird.
Alright, as always, we're going to start off by going to the Wayback Machine and digging up the unlisted character ages.
Funny enough- This time, Sonic Channel is our only source, as Sonic Heroes was the last time the character ages were EVER listed- outside of a specific internal guide book thing that Sega has where they list off... The Classic characters. With Sonic being listed as 15 there. Classic Sonic. Yeah, you can tell it was made in the middle of Forces' development.
That aside, let's take a look...
... What?
Ok, so, for reference, Sonic had been listed as 15 ever since the manual for Heroes came out- even after Generations, the game where his literal birthday party happened. Before and after the anniversary game where they celebrate Sonic's birthday in-universe, he was listed as 15. Which is stupid. But what's even more stupid is the idea that Blaze could be younger than Sonic. Blaze, on multiple occasions, shows a similar, if not slightly higher level of maturity than Sonic.
Her dialogue has a MUCH more refined tone very frequently- she is shown to be highly responsible, and despite her tendency to have a one-track mind, she's shown to have a pretty large sense of responsibility. Something that would be hard to buy if she's younger than sonic.
In fact, recently we've gotten artwork of her displaying said sense of responsibility, and the fact that, y'know... She's a princess. A literal one. Or well, more like a queen all things considered, but y'know- she holds actual political responsibility, and, well-
Nothing really seems to show she can't handle said responsibilities. She seems to be a competent, active political figure! Which I guess isn't impossible for a 14 year old in a fictional universe, but Sonic, despite its absurdity, has a lorekeeping team now for a reason. Having a preteen be an important political figure is just a bit too far for Sonic, considering all the political figures we've seen, human or animal, have been on the more realistic side.
To add to all this, the idea that Blaze's level of maturity is pretty well defined and definitely not as young as Sonic Channel says it is, I'd like to bring up a segment from a design document, from Sonic 2006.
Forgive the poor image quality, I couldn't find anything better. Text is in the image ID. While this is likely not canon, funny as it may be to assume it is, due to it being from a somewhat early design document for Sonic 06. However, the fact this was ever considered at all tells us one of two things, either Sega is full of freakos that think about underage people's chest size and their feelings on it, or maybe, just maybe, she's always been meant to lean more on the mature side. The latter seems more likely, but who knows.
Although there's a possibility that she's not an adult by the time Sonic Rush and/or 06 happen, she is absolutely not 14, and since those games, there's been both an in-universe birthday party for Sonic, and a 6-month timeskip in Sonic Forces. So with an age that was unlisted that completely contradicts her actual behavior, and time clearly having explicitly passed between and during games, it's highly unlikely she's still a minor. Remember, the ages were unlisted for a reason. Most of them were either plucked from the American manual for Sonic Heroes, or seemingly made up on the spot.
I believe that's what happened here- with the Sonic Channel age for Blaze. There's no other official documentation that refers to her age, only Sonic Channel. If I had to guess, since they had already listed the ages of the Sonic Heroes characters, they felt an obligation to list the ages of the other characters from games past Heroes. But, of course, Sonic Channel is just a website. It is not a published work, it is not a game, it is not anything of large significance from a company perspective. Likely thing is, some random employee at Sega was tasked to look at these characters and assign them an age, without any real consultation, and put them up on the website. After all- why else would they get removed? If they're accurate, reliable information, why would they randomly decide to remove them?
So, TL;DR- I don't think Blaze's listed age on Sonic Channel ever held any ground, due to a very clear and consistent pattern of decently mature behavior from the character, and a character document making reference to pretty mature matters regarding her, which would be EXTREMELY weird if she was, indeed, 14. That, combined with the passage of time within and between multiple Sonic games, makes it impossible for me to believe she's still a minor, if she ever was one.
In conclusion; can you fuck Blaze The Cat? Considering the aforementioned information, the answer is, most likely...
Yes, you can fuck Blaze The Cat.
Most likely, anyways. There is a small, pretty small chance of her not being 18 or above. That will go for a lot of our candidates. But, until Sega says otherwise; You can, in fact, fuck Blaze The Cat.

Another one please~ youtube(.)com/watch?v=SaaKO0f6Cs0&t=62s
Okay so... for this one, I'm hesitant to do a whole transcript.
The question is, "In issue 9, Blaze and Amy talk about how Blaze used to be when they all first met. Is this a direct reference to Sonic Rush, and is this also a reference to Sonic Rush Adventure?"
Ian just confirms with a "yes" and then the rest of the conversation is about the folly of '06. Ian mentions how the game didn't get enough time in the oven, but this is common knowledge.
If you guys want a transcript of that, I can do it, but it's very, very short, and in terms of content, it's very similar to the question I just posted. I would write the transcript and then save it to my drafts to post later, just to space out the answers, but I could do it.
So, uh, let me know what you all think, I guess!

My thoughts on the Knuckles series
I want to preface this by saying that if you haven't watched the series yourself and have the means to do so, I suggest watching it yourself and forming your own opinions on the series. The episodes are about 25-30 mins long, so it should take about 3 hours. But if you'd rather give the show a pass, I understand, especially given that so many people have given rather mixed reviews on the series. I don't think I have much to say that hasn't already been said, but I thought I'd share my personal thoughts on the series.
I will be discussing spoilers in this post, though I won't be breaking apart the plot per se. I just want to discuss some thoughts on the series, good and bad, since I know some people have been very harsh on this series. And as a disclaimer, these are personal opinions rather than outright critiques.
For a tldr rating though, I'd give the series like...6.5/10?
Things I Liked
I really enjoyed the plot of the first episode or so. The scenes with the Wachoski family was probably some of my favourites for the series, even if only brief. I wasn't sure that they would include the other characters, so it was nice to see most of them. I wasn't super keen on the GUN agents necessarily, but I thought their story parts were the most enjoyable. I enjoyed watching Wade scheme to save him and immediately fumble the bag, but ultimately sort of recreate his plan? I also appreciated him using the siracha to free himself from the GUN agent since it was starting to wear a little that he seemed utterly incompetent - more on that later.
I once again appreciate the references to the Sonic universe. I only really noticed the Knuckles hat (which if I'm not mistaken is a reference to the OVA cartoon?), but I also saw someone mention Sonic 06 before watching it, which helped me recognise the reference to the game (both Knuckles' power and the creature that I assumed to be Iblis). I also saw a Reddit post pointing out that the alien attack mentioned by the bowling tournament announcers took place 50 years ago, which could be a reference towards Shadow, but it's not outright stated to be that.
The animation was surprisingly good. Part of me thought the animation quality would be off, but it was more or less on par with the movies from what I could see. Some scenes were a little off, but I can't really fault it since they're trying to incorporate an entirely CGI creature interacting with everything, but for the most part it was awesome.
Things I Didn't Like
I think one of my bigger issues with this series was the humour. That's not to say I didn't find it funny, but the constant surreal/cringe humour eventually wears on you. It worked at the beginning because Knuckles and Wade alternated being the 'straight-man', but for the most part, the characters fell into the same 'I'm dumb' type of humour. I don't quite know how to explain what I mean by this, so I guess I'll give a few examples to illustrate what I mean.
There's Knuckles himself, whose 'stupidity' mostly comes from him not fully grasping human culture. There's also Wade Whipple, who is portrayed as an idiot or loser, something he's called by the other characters. There's Jack Sinclair who acts intimidating while still being dumb behind his seriousness, and was the kind of character that seems threatening until they're dethroned, by which time they start wailing like a baby. We see this mostly when Wade is captured and 'duels' with him, only for him to lose and plead with Wade not to take his clothes this sounds really sus out of context. I didn't particularly care for him, which made some scenes drag as Wade's story with him was being addressed, but he's more of a stepping stone character for Wade's development.
I thought Knuckles and Wade themselves were funny for the most part, but it does begin to grate a little when their goofy humour is pretty much all you get. I get that Wade is the underdog guy, but it didn't feel much like he actually grew as a person. I thought perhaps he would learn to be more self-reliant and competent, but even at the end of the series, he mostly just stalled for Knuckles. This sort of ties into the complaint a lot of people have that the series focused less on Knuckles and more on Wade, which I agree with. It was set up at the start that Knuckles was looking to find his home and purpose, but it didn't feel like that was fully explored. It was sort of implied at the end that the Whipple's were his home, but it felt like a lose end more than a solid conclusion. I also wouldn't have minded if Knuckles actually spent time training Wade, but that didn't really happen either. Most of Wade's 'development' happened away from Knuckles, which made Knuckles feel more like a bit character a lot of the time.
And then there's Wanda Whipple. I'll be honest, I really disliked her character. For the first few minutes it was fine, but the entire scene with the Whipple family dinner just felt awkward and annoying to me. It felt like I was watching two children argue, which I suppose was the point, but watching a grown woman act like a child was just uncomfortable and felt like it was dragged out for ages. I think the only scene I found her funny in was towards the end when she dislocated her thumb, but that was about it. Every other scene she was in felt unenjoyable for me, and frankly I hope she's not in the third movie at all (or if she is, please make it short).
I suppose I could sum this complain up as there being too many comedic relief characters without there being straight-man characters to balance out the chaos. The beginning worked well because Sonic, Tails and Maddie worked as straight-men for Knuckles, so it was funny to watch him be a menace since we could see everyone else's reactions. But for the rest of the series, it was mostly just silly humour. Even the 'adult' jokes weren't particularly funny to me (thinking specifically about the metal detector scene), but maybe I'm just not the right demographic for this kind of series? Who knows.
I watched the series with my dad, and I agree with his thoughts on the series. He felt it could have been done in a movie instead of having a tv series that seemed to drag on a lot. I do agree that some scenes felt like they were going on for too long, which at times felt like I wasn't even watching a Sonic series at all. I guess they want to flesh out the characters unique to the movie universe, but it felt a bit weird to have Knuckles barely involved in the plot given the series was named after him.
It's unfortunate because I think that they initially set up something interesting. I thought they'd focus on the GUN agents pursuing Knuckles, with Knuckles training Wade along the way. But the GUN story got shelved almost immediately to focus more on the bowling stuff - Wade and Jack had an awkward sword dual, and Wade had a bowling match with his dad? I honestly thought The Buyer (that ex GUN weapons guy) would be Wade's dad, but instead we randomly got introduced to Pistol Pete...I dunno, it felt weird to me. It felt like they mashed three unfinished stories together into one weird amalgamation.
I feel like they could have focused more on the GUN agents plot. Perhaps they could have clashed a few times with Knuckles and Wade, but ultimately fail over and over. Wade would have learned indirectly from his warrior training to be strong enough to defeat Jack at bowling and show his progression. The GUN agents would be replaced by The Buyer after he grows tired of waiting for them to fulfil their deal, and who would be more of a threat. While that's happening in the background, we could watch the bowling tournament with Jack losing instead, then have The Buyer crash the party like he did in the actual series. But this is all just me brainstorming what I would have done.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. It's a shame since I love the Sonic movies a lot, but I'm not too worried about Sonic 3 based on this series. Jeff Fowler (the writer for the movies) only wrote the first episode of the series, which was arguably the best episode, so I am confident that Sonic 3 will be good. Admittedly it has me a little worried, but I'm trusting them to do Shadow justice with his debut.
Sorry this is such a long rambly post, but hopefully it's cohesive enough to follow for anyone actually reading it.

sorry for not responding earlier! anyway here’s everything wrong with matpat’s latest video on sonic frontiers.
a few months after sonic frontiers was released, matpat made a video titled “Game Theory: Sonic BROKE His Own Lore! (Sonic Frontiers)”. it is generally very shitty and…. may not even contain a theory in the first place?
before i get on with complaining, i want you to guess at what point matpat first says something that shows he knows nothing about sonic.
it’s less than 10 seconds in.
matpat starts the video by saying “let’s be honest. sonic the hedgehog wasn’t originally designed with in-depth storytelling in mind. Mainly you’re just running, jumping and ♪rolling around at the speed of sound♪”. and this man. had the balls. to show FOOTAGE OF AND SING A SONG FROM SONIC ADVENTURE 2, A GAME WHERE THREE MAJOR CHARACTERS DIE, THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT STORY ROUTES AND WHERE SHADOW THE FUCKING HEDGEHOG FIRST APPEARED. AND THE SCENE MATPAT REFERENCED WAS ONE WHERE SONIC WAS BEING CHASED BY THE FUCKING MILITARY.
and it’s not even like the sonic series has really been fumbling its lore for a long time. it wasn’t until sega released sonic 06 before it was finished and got backlash for that that sonic’s stories started getting a little blander (although they didn’t really stop being good until sonic lost world released in 2013.)
after this matpat proceeds to use the old “rough transition to 3D” narrative which is just…. not true in the slightest??? sonic adventure was great, sonic adventure 2 was great, sonic heroes wasn’t as grandiose as other games but it wasn’t bad at all, the first actually bad 3D sonic game was shadow the hedgehog, released 7 years after sonic first became 3D (and the issues with it mostly came from sega wanting to capitalize off of a few fans who wanted guns in sonic games but that’s a whole other story and also gamma, omega, eggman and tails already use guns although gamma is dead but that’s also a different story)
not to mention he also shows a picture of the werehog from sonic unleashed in this part which like. fuck you matpat werewolves are cool actually (and also that game is from 2008 so it’s also not an example of sonic’s “transition to 3D”)
once he starts actually talking about frontiers the video gets a little better for a few minutes. he does slander black knight a tiiiiiiiiny bit but that pales in comparison to the other things he says so i’m not gonna make a big deal out of it. (i would recommend satbk if you can find a wii or a wii emulator though, it’s got a great story and atmosphere)
so after a few relatively peaceful minutes of matpat praising frontiers, he uh. well he fucks up again. he says that sonic frontiers ties together the stories of all the sonic games and “now we actually have to take sonic’s lore seriously.” but frontiers is far from the only game reference other games - the whole thing is one continuous story with a bunch of different arcs. a lot of people don’t realize this without playing the games, since they usually compare sonic to other games that don’t really have very complicated stories, like the mario series. still, matpat should have done some research on sonic’s lore before making a whole video on sonic’s lore.
he also claims sonic frontiers is a multiverse story based on literally one line. it is not a multiverse story. he would know that if he played the fucking game.
anyway. his theory has to do with the aliens that were revealed to have brought the chaos emeralds to earth before most of them were killed by the End (we still don’t know what that is) and the rest were mutated by chaos energy into chao, little baby pudding creatures who you can raise in the adventure games. chaos, the main villain of sonic adventure, is a mutated chao, and he looks just like these aliens. so what is matpats theory in this video?
five minutes of him pointing out something that doesn’t make sense and then showing clips from an interview with ian flynn, a writer for the game, to make said things make sense. that’s not a theory. that’s canonical information.
the only theorizing matpat does in the entire video is that he claims the master emerald must have undone chaos’s mutation. first, that’s not how mutation works. second, wouldn’t more chao have mutated back, since most of them were on angel island, very close to the master emerald? mutations occur naturally. chaos doesn’t need an emerald to be a mutant chao.
so anyway matpat doesn’t know shit about sonic and he apparently doesn’t know what a theory is either
(sorry if this doesn’t make sense, i’m not really that great at writing things out like this)
okay so what i'm gathering is... the dude who most notably runs a channel called Game Theory... has never touched a sonic game in his life. one of the most popular video game franchises. isn't sonic in a few of the intros GT has had over the years ???? i haven't even played the games and I know that there's tons of lore and plot behind them ???
AND just restating stuff that has already been said by one of the writers 😭 you're right that's not even a theory he's just relaying canon information. maybe he should not take credit for something that was already explained
thank u for the ramble because i would not know otherwise just how Wrong he is about a lot of things lmao
#THAT SOUNDS SO FRUSTRATING THO#LIKE ALL IT TAKES IS SOME SIMPLE RESEARCH?? THESE ARE EASY DETAILS TO LOOK UP#some of his videos go into so much depth and take so much research#and then in other videos he throws a dart at a wheel of topics he may or may not know and takes a wild guess and calls it a theory#asks.mutuals

The Sarah Jane Adventures, S01E05-06: The Warriors of Kudlak (2007)
Uhhh warning I got super carried away screencapping this. It would be worthy of giffing if I had the capability, there’s a lot of campy gurning.
---
This is some....CBBC Doctor Who spin-off?
The 'Mistress' in a laser-quest style game is getting some alien bug guy to abduct children for her. Sjsjssjjddkffff OH my god, Mark Grantham owns the premises and is......seeking out kids on the street to come and play Mr Kudlak's game.
HEY KIDS. I'm a huge East End geezer brandishing a pair of pliers, come play my laser quest game!
Blimey he's had more to say in the first few minutes than he had in like. All seven episodes of Doctors? Mr Kudlak the bug alien guy has already told him to shut up :') Dork.
All the children in this speak like aliens what is going on
Shsjskjsffff.
He needs to find better grade children and stop mocking the mistress! No one is irreplaceable!
Sarah Jane and her weird child friend have made a Cloudbuster that makes it rain jelly beans. Wilhelm Reich would be impressed!
Making creepy sounds of appreciation about the 'mummy's boy' doing well! And apparently Mr Kudlak smells bad when he's happy, hence the chewing gum addiction?
Unfazed by the Star Wars reference, oily greasy awful vibes, but god we're all having such fun here :')
"Mr Grantham and his partner Mr Kudlak" THIS IS PUNISHMENT FOR ME AND ME ALONE FOR SUGGESTING BRASSO FUCKS ALIENS
"The ultimate warrior of the future is always on guard...for surprise attacks!" *wink* 💀💀💀
He catches Sarah Jane and her young assistant sneaking round his office:
"D'you know why people come to Combat 3000? They come for the GUNS."
Absolute mentalist. Love him and his alien bug boyfriend.
He's impressed that she's seen an alien gun before.
"Children. Adore. Wargames."
"A conscience is like a stone in your shoe. You cannot begin to imagine the relief once you get rid of it."
Unhinged. Fantastic.
Too unhinged to remember to...shoot Sarah Jane when she reaches for her lippy as a 'last request'. Oopsie, that's a sonic screwdriver! His little link to Kudlak is broken...
Part II
Episode preview looked mad I can't wait.
Uhhhh Mr Kudlak is unhappy. Screenshotted this moment entirely by accident:
Oh dear Mr Kudlak has turned rather mean. He thinks killing the useless Mr Grantham would do honour to both their species :')
Luckily for Mr Grantham, Mistress cares more about getting more children, and he seems to think he has a solution to their security problems....
It involves going to Sarah Jane’s house with his gun to kill her? Sarah Jane is happy for the opportunity to study new forms of human low-life - and he's into that.
"You are a cool old bird, I'll give you that."
Apparently trafficking children to warzones is what makes the galaxy go round :') who hurt you, Mr Grantham?
Outwitted by a child! How fitting.
Sarah Jane saying how Mr Grantham's going to help them: *brandishes cable ties with glee*
Uhhhhh why did they strip his jacket off, untuck his shirt and muss up his hair again?
Why does he enjoy the experience of being cable-cuffed and held at gunpoint so much?
"So you're going to tell the police that I helped some butt-ugly alien send kids to war in a galaxy far, far away?" He finds this very amusing.
"I don't think a man like you will fare too well in prison." Sarah Jane what's THAT meant to mean???!! This is a kids’ show??
Apparently that was enough to change his mind.
I wish you could all here the gleeful chuckle he makes when he promises to get Sarah Jane and her assistant up to the alien ship - "Why wouldn't I? You're never going to come back?"
The amount of fun this man is having should be illegal my god :')
Final analysis: "Worse than Kudlak" "He'll get what's coming to him. Eventually."
And we'll never know what that is! I had been hoping Kudlak was going to beam him up and recruit him into getting back all the child soldiers he’d already sent away, but I guess that’s another one for the fanfic I am not going to write.
Rating:
Dead? Probably not?
Evil? SO EVIL. Child trafficking. To a warzone. Fun FUNSIES.
Affects the plot? Well yeah, he’s abducting all those children!
Solid 4/5 again. I might have upped it if he’d had an epilogue. Awful man. Delightful. Keep doing those silly things with your face. Why are you so tall and such a pathetic meow meow all at once?
