“The Final Victory” shall work a little differently to regular StC stories in that, although there’s four parts, each of them are included in this issue as one long story, which is a collab between Kitching, Stringer and a whole team of artists. If you’re coming here from IDW or Archie, you’re probably thinking that’s usually how stories work in those comics anyway and you’d be right. But for StC, which is usually broken down into smaller stories, this is the first (and only? I think?) time the whole issue is one long story

Sonic explains the plan that I’m sure a few of you figured out already - the electromagnetic pulse knocking out all the computers will stop Robotnik from being able to turn the Emerald Hill Folk (& Knuckles) into a supercomputer. Hell, it’ll wipe out Robotnik’s badniks across the board and give the people of Mobius the biggest chance to fight back against him that they’ve ever had

It does leave the big problem of Super Sonic, however. But at least now all of Sonic’s problems are in one place. And he can go home! Say goodbye to the Chaotix for this issue, but we will be seeing more of them in future

This is one of the Super Sonic images I first think of whenever I think of him. Pretty sure they make it into a poster at some point? Either that or I just put this page on my bedroom wall as a kid

Speaking of Sonic, the man himself is back! Though there’s too much going on to celebrate that just yet

Also, I had a moment of thinking it’s neat to see Vermin in Elson’s art style that got me thinking… have we even seen Elson draw Shortfuse yet? I’m sure we will at some point, but it’s kinda funny if Vermin got there first

We’ll get a longer update for Knuckles in the next part of this story, but for now, here’s the reassurance that everyone’s okay

The team confirms their suspicions that all the badniks are offline (I think Vermin managed to sneak away?). And now… their next biggest problem is here :) 

Look, I just love all the pages of Super Sonic wrecking shop. I don’t want any harm to come to the Freedom Fighters, but just seeing this guy getting to shoot lasers out of his eyes just feels like enrichment for him

What’s this?

So yeah, the Super Sonic problem has sort of solved itself for now? If you’re wondering where he’s going, then we’ll get to that later in this issue as well

Sonic, however, is more concerned with the lingering threat of Robotnik. He heads off to the next part of the story, leaving the citizens of Metropolis Zone in celebration, even if Amy is wise to be cautious

Even though objectively speaking he is the less developed character out of the main cast compared to others like Sonic, Amy or even Porker, I’ve came to appreciate him more as time went on. He was a nice character to have around on the comic, and I’d said that the continuation online of the comic managed to give him some depth as a character that I really liked.

…..I know I’m being too vague here and that’s because I don’t want to risk spoiling any new readers of the comic, but if you already read all of them then you already know what I mean XD

Decided to start drawing the characters from the british Sonic books because I love them, starting from the animal friends since only Sally, Johnny and Porker seemed to be actually made into characters

Amy's made it through the 1960s, now it's time for the brown and orange decade!

(The 1970s must've been terrifically cold even in discos, with all these full suits and turtlenecks I'm seeing in photos from the time!)

It’s the very first Amy solo story! She’s here! She’s wearing a great outfit! …Sonic’s about to ditch her again, booo!

We’re still  in those early stages, where Amy was the fangirl who Sonic didn’t want hanging around. StC Amy doesn’t stay in this role forever, but that’s going to be the basis of this story

Oh hey, they’re acknowledging one of the Post Mag stories! Glad that I factored them into my reading order now, even if my placement for reading some of them could’ve been improved

Don’t worry Amy, one day you’ll basically be the next leader after Sonic. But for now, she gets ditched. I know it’s the premise of the story, but it still makes me frown about how it’s inconsistent with other stories so far, where Amy has been allowed to come along on Sonic’s adventures and has been equally capable to any of the other characters. Tails still has one foot in the “getting left behind by Sonic” door, but lately seems to be getting included. And I don’t care for that role being passed onto Amy, even if it’s for a short time

My girl really just said “Oh no, what am I going to do about these Buzzbombers?” and then loaded up her crossbow to blast them out of the sky. Respect

For a bit of added lore, she even made the crossbow bolts herself

We get a short fight scene between Amy and the Buzzbombers, then Sonic returns after the false alarm

Amy smiles at the readers, while telling the others that there was nothing left behind that she couldn’t handle and that’s the end of the story. Even if I’m meh about Amy being used in the role that Tails has just graduated from, I am glad to see the first Amy story and know that she moves onto better things. By the time I started reading, there were regular Amy & Tekno stories of them having their own adventures together and that was my introduction to Amy as a character, so it is a bit weird to shift back to a time when the team believed Amy wasn’t capable, even if I already knew her character arc started out that way in StC

I imagine Johnny is one of the oldest of his siblings, and whenever he can he helps around the house when he visits
