Sigh. It is hard having above average intelligence in a world hellbent on hating on real artisis while praising conformity and mediocrity. Every day I am attacked by the Swifties for calling out their leader's basic music and mindlessly dull lyricism, while I and my objectively better art are shoved to the sidelines. I should be packing stadiums with eager minds ready to absorb my writing, and yet, the youths and the feminists flock to Taylor Swift like mindless sheep. It makes me Pissed Off and Sad for this generation........

Because Dick is Tim's idol. He's the person Tim's wants to be and models himself after and that can be so juicy in many ways.

this song is so fun for like. a more obsessed Tim, i love the repeated lyric of "I'll do whatever it takes". i *love* Tim's idol worship of Dick Grayson so dearly, it is a foundation of DickTim. the song has a shyness in it's worship with the first verse that i love? sitting nervously just for the chance of getting looked at? begging for the person to just ask for your *name*? god i love it. would be fun to explore the angle of Tim always seeing Dick at galas and social events and never having the guts to talk to Dick on his own, but *praying* he'll have his little moment of Dick coming to him and introducing himself and wanting to know who Tim is.

i always love the fact wth DickTim, that Dick suggested Tim to be Robin. bc it means Dick is the one that Tim feels like he has to prove himself to, not Bruce. so him wanting to be like Dick, trying to mirror everything that Dick is in that "Robin is magic" sort of way. Tim's problems are easy to ignore when he's Robin, bc he doesn't have to be himself. he gets to be Dick's mirror, Dick's legacy.

i think the line "and you should bite your tongue 'cause i'd steal it just so i can be a muse" is *super* fun to get into the more unhealthy side of Tim's obsession/worship of Dick. how badly he wants to hold onto Robin, hold onto the pieces of Dick that he's been given and not let go. anything to stay in Dick's footsteps. even when Dick hurts Tim, he still wants to be Dick. his love for Dick is so layered, i'm obsessed with it. could also be interesting if that's part of why it takes Tim so long to realize his feelings include a crush, bc he's always perceived it as wanting to *be* Dick, not being in love with him. but what is being in love with something if not loving it so much you crave becoming it? he wants to consume Dick whole and be him bc then maybe he can love himself more. there's so much to be done with that complex.

so I’ve been standing here intermittently laughing maniacally and jumping up and down because I’m so absolutely cracked to have the new Jhariah album. And I wrote my initial responses. Here they are!

TOOTH PACT - amazing. AMAZING. stunning. love the opening half especially

BIGSHOT - also amazing. not quite as amazing but that’s difficult to achieve since TOOTH PACT is so good. also it’s giving me the vibes of something that gets better on each listen. i really like the instrumental ending

FIRE4FUN - i do like it but it’s just not the same tier as the other two. i do not like the auto tune

OH THE TRANSITION BETWEEN FIRE4FUN AND RISK RISK RISK. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!! “to command… risk” *dodododo* I HAVE LITERAL GOOSEBUMPS

RISK, RISK, RISK! - well, we already know I love it! i think i like it about as much as BIGSHOT, not quite as much as tooth pact.

COLLARBONE - slightly boring. sorry. it makes a very good interlude but it’s just not all that good in its own right.

PIN-EYE - I know I absolutely fucking adore it. It’s up there with TOOTH PACT. I like the jazzy instrumentals in this album, I think.

MAYBE LATER DANCE - 💃 ooooh I like it!! I reallllly like it!! This absolutely slaps I will be listening on repeat. a mastering of mimicryyyy

CONTROL BABY - unusually minimalistic for a Jhariah song, but ABSOLUTELY pulls it off. I love it. I love it so much.

EAT YOUR FRIENDS - I know I quite like it, but it’s not my ultimate fave. Controversial, I know, especially when I also really like Pinkshift.

RE: CONCERNS - I estimated I would like this based on its title. It lived up to expectations. It’s gorgeous. I particularly liked the end.

SASUKE - funky. danceable. I quite like it. (Naruto reference??)

RUSSIAN DOLL - really nice opening. i love my dramatic minor chords. It’s in 6/8 and I love that for it. This is gorgeous actually, the more I listen the better it gets, it might be my favourite on the whole album! I love it! I LOVEIT! ILOVEITILOVEIT

TRUST CEREMONY - oooh sad piano. Jhariah’s voice is so fucking gorgeous on this. I like it very much.

They like to draw! They have a sketchbook they draw in while they’re waiting on customers and yes it’s full of drawings of Swaine. They’re also an amateur historian on the side! Part of the reason they travel so much is bc they’re trying to learn more about the different cities and regions :3 I like to think if she were in the game she’d give Oliver some of the ‘Regions of the World’ pages for the Wizard’s Companion as he’d encounter her.

You have invited me into your online home to talk about Trust Ceremony and boy, random person on the internet, you will regret it!

I am foaming at the mouth in happiness, the album is literally amazing!!!! All my creative urges have been strengthened by tenfold and I think I could cry!!! This dude wrote a song about a Naruto character and I think that is fucking awesome! Can you believe he’s his own writer AND composer??? That is some serious Talent! Maybe-later Dance is the best song I have ever heard hands-down omg. Out of the thirteen songs in the album, ten are in my playlist and there’s a big chance that, once I’ve warmed up to them, the three remaining will soon follow. God I wish they’d be able to tour outside of the us because I’d do anything in my power (which, admittedly, isn’t much) to go to their concert. I adore the way Tooth Pact and Trust Ceremony loop into eachother. If I had the skill to edit them into eachother, I would. They almost feel like two parts of one song while still being powerful and great stand-alone tracks. I am slowly going feral over this album. Give me a week or so and I’ll need to be caged. I’m afraid it’s terminal/j

The fact that Jhariah is still somewhat underground is wild with how good Trust Ceremony is. I feel like this is gonna be how he breaks into massive popularity. RE: CONCERNS is a fucking bop that I have to force myself not to loop every time i listen to the album in its entirety. I also hope we get more fun music videos. Thank you stranger for bursting into my home screaming :3
