AKIRA HOYOMA has always been faithful to cooking. To Jun’s orders and advices. To people’s boundaries. He never crossed a line, always being focused. One day, as usual, he went into Erina’s office. His brows completly furrowed when he saw your form, fingertips grazing against the spines of the library old books. Who were you ? You weren't supposed to be here. Didn’t Hisako tell you that this office was private ? He opened his mouth to question you, but you turned to face him before he could even form words. His jaw tightened, fists clenching, but unfortunately, much to his own disbelief, no sound erupted from his mouth - and the sweet, polite smile adorning your face was nearly making him feel dizzy. Uneasy. An uncomfortable silence filled the room, so you broke the silence with a fake cough.
“Nice to meet you, uh..”, you said, in a weak attempt to get him to introduce himself. His piercing gaze was enough of an answer, and you gulped. “I’m looking for Erina, perhaps you’ve seen her ?”
“No.”
“Oh. Okay”. You’re immediately confronted by a loud and weird silence again. He seemed.. rather friendly - ironically, of course. After some minutes, Erina walked into the office, raising two suspicious eyebrows at the, well, kind of cringe atmosphere of the room.
“Akira, what did you do to my guest ? Y/N, I’m sorry, did he make you uncomfortable by any chance ?”, she asked, walking towards your form.
“No, don’t worry. He’s nice,” you lied, teeth clenched together. You flashed her a bright smile, that Erina reciprocated fondly; she glared at Akira, fully aware of his cold demeanor, especially to strangers. His intimidating tendencies were definitely not working right now, especially not on Erina.
“I have some things to discuss with Y/N, Akira. Can you leave us alone for a moment ?”
“Yeah, right. Sorry.”
AKIRA HOYOMA quickly left the office, feeling a bit nauseous - he didn’t know why, but he had a weird feeling in his stomach, and he felt like his head was burning. He wandered in the corridors until he crossed Soma’s path. He smirked, a teasing glint in his eyes as he watched his white-haired rival with amusement.
“Wow, Akira. Are you sick ? You’ve never been this red.”
Akira tsk-ed, hurrying to the bathroom. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, completely taken-aback. He was, indeed, a bit red. Cheeks flushed, the tip of his ears were blazing, his breathe hitched at his own view; what was happening ? He was sure he was okay this morning. Perhaps it was you. He scoffed at the thought, washing his face with cold and refreshing water before leaving the bathroom. He never saw you before. Were you from here ? He found himself looking for you in the corridors all day, sighing at the end of the day when he realized he haven’t seen you. He was still embarrassed of the awkward silence that filled the room earlier - and he blamed himself for it. He should’ve been more welcoming.
AKIRA HOYOMA, 5 or 6 days after the incident, noticed strands of hair walking past him; they were looking similar to yours, so he turned around. You were walking alongside Hisako, laughing at one of her comments. Hisako looked at Akira and waved.
“Oh, hey ! I was searching for you. Erina needs my help, could you show Y/N the different classrooms in the other building ? I’m coming back as fast as I can !”
She didn’t let him answer as she walked away already. You sighed. It could’ve been anybody, but no, it was this guy. It wasn’t like you hated him - he was just straight-off rude.
“If you don’t want to, I don’t blame you. I can-”
“Come on, we don’t have all day.”, he added, cutting you off without even looking at you. You rolled your eyes, giving him a small smile, hoping it’ll help to ease the atmosphere. Spoiler alert, it didn’t.
The walk inside the cooking classes building was awfully quiet. Not a word was shared - except the little presentation he did of each room, his tone as cold as ice. You nearly shivered.
“Are you always this rude ?”, you asked with a sincere curiosity, "I mean. I’m not telling you to be the friendliest guy but..”
“I’m not rude.”
“You literally refused to give me your name earlier.”
“Akira Hoyoma. That’s all you need to know about me.”
And after this small interaction, Hisako came back. A small feeling of warm in his chest quickly regretted his lack of sympathy towards your person, and he felt like a douchebag for not even apologizing properly. He stopped in his tracks, opening his mouth to call you, but you were already gone with Hisako.
AKIRA HOYOMA was fully conscious of the “issue”. Time passed, and days after days, he grew more open to you. Not completely of course - but he was slowly accepting your presence in his group of "friends"; actually, enjoying a lot more your alone time together in class. He was secretly happy you two had been paired together. You tried to crack some jokes to make him laugh or at least, to make him smile, but it failed every single time. When you finally did it, a slight smile on his face and a “you’re the dumbest person I’ve ever seen in this school, I’m trying to concentrate, stop distracting me”, you beamed. He never saw a smile so radiant, so ethereal and yet so delicious to look at. A true bundle of sunshine at its finest. His cheeks heated up and he forthwithly focused on the plate you two were supposed to prepare. He would die to see this smile again - he wanted to be the reason you were smiling that way in the first place.
AKIRA HOYOMA was fully conscious of the situation. Time passed, and months after months, he grew more fond of you. So when he saw you eating one of Soma’s plates again, smiling at him with all your teeth and laughing at his antics - he was mad, as per say. His jaw tightened, fists clenching, but unfortunately, much to his own disbelief, no sound erupted from his mouth; it felt like the first time he ever saw you. A fiery and fervent emotion bubbling in his chest as he made his way to you. He grabbed your wrist and dragged you outside the kitchen, closing the door to have some “privacy” (in a empty corridor of Tōtsuki High, though). You were completely unfazed by his behavior usually, since you were used to his (sometimes) weird demeanor for the several months you two spent together as friends, but right now, his silence grew quieter, and you were worried. And for this only one time, he broke the stillness.
“You’re a distraction. I meant it. I’m hoping everyday to see you, to feel you near me. Is it out-of-place to say that ? You brought me a warmth that I never experienced - and I don’t want to let that go. Don’t eat this idiot’s food, you know you deserve well better than that. Let me show you how you should be treated, Y/N. Please. Let me show you how I feel about you.”
AKIRA HOYOMA’s words couldn’t describe the high spirits that invaded his heart when he realized you were wearing your signature warm smile, just for him. You took the hand that was grabbing your wrist in yours, intertwining your fingers.
“Here. Maybe you’re not as rude as I thought you were.”
SOMA YUKIHIRA tried to give you hints. But you weren’t getting it. Teasing you all the time, small compliments here and there, spending quality time with you. Unfortunately, you were always running away from him, a small pout on his lips as he chased after you. It wasn’t because of his awful mixes; when you two were together, in a somewhat romantic moment, and he was ready to confess to you, there was, no matter what, a disturbance. Whatever actually, a teacher coming in the classroom, Ikumi or Megumi; and you immediately backed off. He couldn’t help but sigh, his efforts ruined, but could he really blame you ? His yellowish eyes drowned so easily into yours, so he just smiled and bit back his disappointment, glaring at the disturbance with a vague hatred, that was rather scary, to be honest.
“Don’t chop it that way, it takes too much time.”
“Then show me, sir,”, you answered with a slight smirk, knife in your hand.
“Anything for you, ma’am.”
His devilish grin was addictive, really; you loved the small moments spent together in the classroom kitchen, but insecurity was always catching up with you, pulling you into abysses you prayed you'd never see again. Your worries faded away when you felt him behind you, caging you between his toned body and the kitchen countertop. His hands slided on top of yours, gently gesturing you how to cut the vegetables in a “more efficient way”; truly, it was an excuse to touch you. A comfortable silence filled the room, the sound of sliced and chopped foodstuffs echoing on the sunbathed walls. He kept his teasing to himself, deciding to enjoy this small moment of shared intimacy; he felt his head heating up at your warm breath fanning on his neck. He stopped his movements, locking eyes with you. The world seemed like it stopped itself; he leaned downwards to kiss you, his hands still on yours, your head turned to face his-
Until someone snapped him out of it. Erina opened the doors of the kitchen brutally without even knocking - he cursed under his breath, blaming her for this ruined opportunity to finally show you what he truly felt.
“Look who’s there. Giving lessons to average students, now, Yukihira ? I didn’t think you were into charity-stuff.”, Erina smirked, not even shooting you a glance. You backed off from Soma, already fed-up by her condescending behavior.
“Erina.. what a pleasure. Always coming in due course,” Soma answered with a forced smile, anger running through his veins.
“I was searching for you, actually, Yukihira. Well, not me, but Takumi was. He wants to have a contest with you again, and I’ll be the judge.”
“Uh. Sure. Can Y/N come too ? I-”
“It’s a private contest.”, she immediately urged to add, “Between the three of us. Now, come on, I have other things to attend to.”
Erina walked off, and Soma followed her with a sigh, giving you an apologizing, awkward chuckle. You knew better, but you just smiled, murmuring a small “good luck”, as you saw him leave.
Her little crush on Soma was unbelievable; you wanted to tear the stupid grin plastered on her features so bad. Technically, yes, you were jealous. She was always shattering his plates with critics, giving prideful advices, even if he didn’t need it. And he was still cooking for her, working all the goddamn time to satisfy her “god’s tongue” and her insatiable appetite. For him, ironically. And Soma was terribly clueless; not noticing her taking a liking in this little game. Or maybe he was not ? Maybe you were a second choice - and Erina was first. She was always first. You weren’t the type to envy others, but right now.. you sat down next to the window frame, staring at her proximity with Soma from afar. It was eating you alive; the abyss you were so afraid of was most likely, a warm embrace in comparison of your sinking heart.
SOMA YUKIHIRA felt that something was off. You were ignoring him like a plague, switching seats and changing class pairings. He knew he fucked up, but what did he do exactly ? Oh right. You were jealous. Because last time, he left you alone to join Erina and Takumi in a contest that he obviously won. Now, he was facing the cold-shoulder treatment, and his teasing wasn’t helping anymore. Yet, he’d still try to talk to you, but you were walking past him without a word; your eyes filled with sorrow. Or you were faking a smile, trying to make up an excuse and leaving. He wanted to beat himself up; because he was the one who put you in that state in the first place. It was his mistake, and he knew it. But why were you feeling that way ? He tried to talk about it to Takumi - he was a gentleman after all, he’d definitely know.
“You did what ?”
“I mean- I didn’t know it’d be an issue. I always did that and they never said anything about it.”
“Soma, are you seriously this dumb ? You’re leaving them to hang out with the Nakiri Erina and you’re seriously thinking that they won’t be insecure ?”
“Why would they be ? They’re literally the most beautiful and caring person ever. There’s nothing to envy in Erina.. Plus, I’m not hanging out with her. She’s the one who’s coming at the worst times.”, he stated, genuinely dumbfounded by his friend’s words. It was the truth, though; she interrupted you two when Soma was nearly kissing you.
“Soma. Think about it just for a moment- you told me you liked them, yeah ? And when you’re with them, and Erina walks in, you leave to follow her. They must think they’re a second choice or something. Please, you can’t be this oblivious.”
And then, he realized. Realizing the hints he gave you were nothing compared to his acts. His face in his hands as his elbows rested on the countertop, what should he do now ? Apologizing, yeah, but it wasn’t enough. He longed for your touch, and craved for your pardon. The next day, he searched for you in the Polar Star Dormitory, everywhere. When he finally spotted you, he opened the door of your bedroom without even asking. You yelped in surprise.
“What the hell ? Soma-”
“You’re the only one I want to be with. The one I want to dedicate my cooking to. I thought I made it clear. I’m sorry for my behavior. Erina is nothing for me, and she’s not even coming close to your ankle- look, I fucked up, I know. But I promise, you mean everything to me.”, he bluntly said, not giving you a second to breathe.
“And what are you gonna do the next time she’s gonna walk into us ? Hide me shamefully ? I-”
But he cut you off again, one hand stroking your cheek. He lifted your chin, in order to make you look at him.
“I’ll simply say that I’m taken by the prettiest and smartest person around. How does that sound ?”
He leaned, and this time, he wasn’t going to back off, with or without somebody walking in.
“Maybe I can show you who I’m talking of, baby,”
He smirked, your worries vanishing instantly in his yellow orbs. A kiss sounded good after all.

I was thinking about Soma and Megumi recently:
A great thing about their friendship is that he lets her cry and is witness to almost all the times she does so. He doesn't ever tell her to stop crying (like he does to Alice after she loses) nor does Soma mock her for crying (ep 11 he laughs briefly at a possible future outcome, not the crying itself).
And Soma even lets Megumi have her moments (however long she needs) and sometimes not interrupting her overwhelmed states (like his hand on her shoulder after she beat kojiro). He doesn't get mad at her either or call her mean nicknames. I like this from Soma's perspective.
But I also like that Megumi cries the most around him.
I think she feels the most comfortable being around Soma, ultimately showing her vulnerabilities to him (not doing well in school up til now).
And how easily Megumi even cries happy tears around Soma too, such as when she's proud of him or them both having a nice time together! And even when she doesn't let her happy tears fall, is special too!

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Souma in: Having a Baker S/o
(Char. Involved: Sōma Yukihira, Akira Hayama, Erina Nakiri, Takumi Aldini)
Tumblr media
Sōma Yukihira
-Same old Soma tbh
-Sees you as quite the worthy adversary whether or not you're better than he is
-Always the first one to try your dishes
“C’mon! Lemme have a taste, it looks so good!”
-Biggest supporter honestly
-It doesn't make him any less likely to make you try his gross dishes though
“Oh don't be a scaredy cat, Just one bite!”
-At least one food war per day honestly
      -Tiring, to say the least
-I'd like to think he has a sweet tooth so you being a baker is like heaven for him
“Everything is here. The cake is cooling in the fridge, The fondant is rolled and properly colored and the frosting is-'' I pause my listing as I realize the frosting isn't where I left it. “Huh?” Did I misplace it or something? “Could've sworn I left it right here.” I blink twice in an attempt to backtrack from when I had it. “Okay, so I remember grabbing the ingredients from the fridge, then setting them right here,” pointing to the counter as I pull a pout. “Then I brought out the stand mixer and began making it. Afterward, I turned away to put the mixer away but when I turned back I still remember seeing it.” I close my eyes in hopes that’ll jog my memory, “Then I ran to my room to get my molding knives and called Soma in to watch the Strawberry puree boiling.” Wait. I called Soma. “I came back and that's when I don't recall seeing it.” That bastard. “SOMA!” I yell throughout the dorm as I dash to his room in a fit of annoyance. As I made my way past several of my roommates, they each gave a fearful expression and made way for me to get by. I clutch the doorknob, slamming the door wide open as I catch the thief red-handed. He had the spoon halfway in his mouth as the frosting was mostly gone, eyes slightly dilating at my entrance. “Oh, Uh...Hey Y/n.” I glare at him, “Why are you eating my frosting.” He looks anywhere but my gaze as he lets out a nervous chuckle, “It looked good so I took a bit and then a bit turned into a spoonful, and well you see what happened.” I sigh, “Whatever, just know you’re making me dinner for the next month for that.” He smirks, “Why say that like it's a bad thing? I love making food for you, Y/n.” My heart warms at his sentiment, “Yeah yeah.” I make my way to close the door but stop just short to peek my head in, “However, do that again and I’ll make sure the only thing you can eat is frosting.” He drops his smile to replace it with worry at my threat, “Yes ma’am.” I close the door and shake my head, too touched to be truly mad. “He thought it was that good?” I let out a breathy laugh on my way back to the kitchen to remake it, “Stop making me want you to come back to steal my food you idiot.”
Tumblr media
Akira Hayama
-Very proud of you
-However, he isn't very keen on showing it so you’ll have to be patient
-There are some things you add in that even he doesn't sniff out which is probably the only time he’ll get curious and ask about it
“Making something new? What crazy ingredient did you add this time, hm?”
-May act all mean but he is actually very excited when you come to let him try your food
-Never call him out though, he’ll always deny it
- “This again? Still hard at work trying to perfect it, are you? Fine ill have a taste.”
-Don't let the facade fool you, he’d hate if you asked anyone else to try your food.
-Can be a bit childish when it comes to that
“Is it too salty?” He smacks his lips a few times, taking in the flavor. “If anything it's a bit lumpy, kinda dry too.” I scrunch my face, “Odd. Could've sworn I kept the heat low enough. Guess I wasn't paying enough attention.” He tilts his head, “The flavors aren't bad though, honestly pretty perfect if you ask me.” I give a small smile, delighted by his praise. “Sorry to drag you all the way here for this Soma.” He gives a low chuckle, “No problem. I'm always down to taste test, especially your amazing food!” I grab the plate with the crumbs of the cake I had recently made and brought it to the sink, “You do not need to flatter me.” He shakes his head, “No flattery needed. You’re talented, nothing to sugar coat y’know.” I wasn't sure how to respond to such blatant compliments so I settled for a small lopsided grin.  “Thanks, that means a lot. Especially coming from the first seat of the council himself.” A light pink brushed his cheeks, “Now whos doing the flattering? It's nothing to brag about. I do have a lot I must improve on.” His ability to grow never ceases to surprise me, “You have quite the determined spirit, it's admirable.”
“Yeah, I'm sure he's quite the guy.”
We both turn to the voice that chimed in, “Ah, Akira, how's it going?” Soma inquires with his usual enthusiasm but the albino doesn't share the sentiment. “Fine. What's happening here?” I don't miss his dismissive tone as he turns himself to me. “Soma was just taste-testing a recent cake I was making.” He narrowed his eyes for a moment, “Well how's that going?” He asked but I'm certain he didn't really want the honest answer to that. “Still need some tweaking, but good overall.” He folds his arms, “Well I'm glad he's been of assistance. Now I think thats enough for today, it's getting late.” Its 6:30… Soma chirps up, “Well i gotta head out, needa prepare some stuff for tomorrow's food war, see ya’!” He waves as he leaves the room, and for a split second, you could see a glint of a smirk on Akira’s face.
“You’re such a jealous child.”
“Shut up.”
“You know I'm right.” He pulls me in, pressing a warm kiss to my forehead, “You don't need him to taste your food. I was here y’know.” I rest on his chest, “You never really seemed interested in tasting my food so I asked Soma since he wasn't busy.” He tightens his grip, “Don't do that again. Just come to me and ill give you feedback.” I give a knowing smile but don't comment on his obvious jealousy, “Well ill keep that in mind.”
Tumblr media
Erina Nakiri
-A true sweetheart honestly
-Will 100% help you with your sweets and pastries as the loving girlfriend she is
-Baking dates every weekend is a must
“Quite the variety you have! All this for just one night?”
-Takes a little more time to judge the taste since she does truly enjoy your food and doesn't want to miss any key flavors
-Has to take a few tastes to actually take it in and not just judge with her god tongue and all that
“Wow, this is well made! The ganache you used brings a beautiful contrast to the moisture from the cake; well done my dear.”
-Basically, her and Hisako's relationship if they were dating; just very doting and sweet entanglement
-Loves when you surprise her with your treats after/during a long day
      -Simply brightens her whole day
  (might be ooc)
The kitchen brimmed with anticipation as I stood beside her as she flour-dusted the countertops, and the sweet scent of vanilla permeated the air. Today, she had invited me to step into her world, to experience the artistry she crafted every day.
I watched with admiration as Y/n effortlessly measured ingredients, their hands moving with precision and grace. Their culinary intuition was a marvel, as they expertly combined flavors and textures to create a symphony of tastes. The kitchen became their canvas, and I was fortunate enough to witness the strokes of their pure genius.
With every task that was to assigned me, Y/n’s patience and guidance enveloped me. They encouraged me to embrace the techniques, trust my instincts, and pour love into each step. Their professional expertise blended with unwavering belief in me, ignited a newfound passion within my heart.
As we worked side by side, I absorbed their knowledge like a sponge. They shared secrets and tricks, while their insights lifted my baking skills to new heights. The boundaries between teacher and student blurred, as our connection deepened and our shared love for the craft blossomed.
The oven hummed, the heat embracing our creations with warmth and anticipation. Together, we carefully placed our masterpieces inside, entrusting them to the alchemy of heat and time. The kitchen transformed into a sanctuary of hope and creativity, where dreams and flavors melded together.
As we waited for our creations to bake, Y/n's presence filled the room with an aura of confidence. They smiled,  eyes gleaming with pride and love. At that moment, I knew that this experience was not just about baking—it was a testament to the beautiful bond we shared.
As the aroma of freshly baked goods filled the air, we opened the oven with eager anticipation. The sight before us took my breath away—golden perfection, a testament to our collaboration and dedication. With a sense of accomplishment, we adorned our creations with delicate touches, transforming them into edible works of art.
Sitting at the table, forks in hand, we tasted the fruits of our labor. Each bite danced on my taste buds, an orchestra of flavors that sang of our love and shared passion. At that moment, I felt the warmth of Y/n’s presence, the fulfillment of our culinary journey, and the sweet taste of a love nurtured by the joy of creation.
Baking with Y/n was more than an adventure in the kitchen—it was a glimpse into her world, a celebration of her talent, and a reminder of the beautiful bond we shared. Together, we wove a tapestry of flavors and emotions, creating a lasting memory that would forever sweeten our lives.
Tumblr media
Takumi Aldini
-A tad competitive
-Will mellow out when you’re practicing your craft though
-Absolutely will stare hard at you (but do not point that out, he will blush and pout)
“N-No! I wasn't staring. I don't know what you’re talking about.”
-Please make him some, will be fussy if you don't let him have what you made
-Will always give you pointers though so never be afraid to ask
-Especially loves it when you come up to him to ask; makes him feel all bubbly inside And a bit outside too. (Again, don't point it out. Tsun-Tsun.)
I carefully dusted the final touches of powdered sugar onto the delicate pastries, admiring the golden crust and the perfectly piped cream filling. My heart swelled with pride as I surveyed the display of my creations in the bakery. This was my passion, my art—the result of years of dedication and hard work.
Just as I was about to take a step back to fully appreciate the beauty before me, I felt a pair of arms wrapping around my waist. Takumi, my Italian chef boyfriend, nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine.
"Y/n, these look amazing," he murmured, his voice filled with admiration. "But you know, there's something missing."
I turned my head to catch a glimpse of his mischievous smile. "Oh? And what might that be?"
He pouted playfully, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, you see, I've been craving your sweet treats all day. You can't just tempt me with these delectable pastries and not save a few for your beloved Italian chef."
I couldn't help but chuckle at his theatrics. Takumi had a way of tugging at my heartstrings with his charm and infectious enthusiasm for food.
"All right, all right," I relented, unable to resist his request. "I'll save a couple of pastries just for you. But you better be prepared to savor every bite, Takumi."
He grinned triumphantly, his eyes gleaming with delight. "That's what I like to hear, Y/n. You know just how to make me happy."
As I carefully set aside a small box of pastries reserved exclusively for him, I couldn't help but marvel at the power food had to bring us closer. Our shared love for culinary delights was a bond that we cherished—a language of flavors and textures that spoke volumes in our relationship.
And so, with a secret stash of pastries hidden away, I looked forward to the moment when Takumi would indulge in my sweet creations. Because in those moments, as he savored every bite, I knew that our connection was strengthened, and our love for each other grew sweeter, one dessert at a time.
(This is my first writing piece on this platform so it's not the best but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. Never hesitate to make a request and ill make time for it.)

If Sōma & Rin (and/or any of the characters who are Supreme Chefs) have a cooking competition & some (or all) of the other characters are the judges, which one would you pick?
Who would be lenient?
Who would be reasonable?
Who would be strict?
Mako, Tohru, Iruma, and Levi would be the most lenient. For those who are surprised by Levi, keep in mind, this man has never had a real meal in basically his whole life time, so for him to taste such quality food would be a god sent.
Many of them would be, (or try to be), reasonable but my main pick would be Kobayashi or Heine, since she did have her own cooking competition with Tohru (the dragon) and Heine, while a teacher, would know the strength and weaknesses of the two.
And if this competition was just between Rin and Soma, then Chika would try to be strict, but we know that while she can cook well, she’s not exactly on the same level as those two. Ciel would be too, since he is used to fancy food. But surprisingly, believe it or not, one of the stricter judges would be Italy.
Reason: He LOVES gourmet food, and if the food is not up to that quality, he will not hesitate to complain about it, as seen with the episode 8 of Hetalia: Axis Powers where the Allies feed him England's cooking and he immediately freaks out over it. I know he would be nicer with the kids, but I also know he would be more honest.
But to answer your overall question, I narrowed it down to three. And this is if I were to pick one from the adult, teen, and kid groups
Kobayashi OR Heine (really hard to pick) Saiki Nagisa
I tried to go for the ones who would be the most unbiased. Hope this helps!

I want to see (you) Sorina childhood friends au part 2
Erina becomes a pretty familiar face in the diner. The patrons think she’s cute and Souma keeps cooking for her. Tamako absolutely adores Erina and makes no effort to hide the fact. Her and Kazusato love the little girl.
Erina starts bringing Hisako along and introduces her as her aide. Hisako is a little shocked that Erina spends so much time in such a common setting, but all doubts are gone once she tries Jouichirou’s food. Some doubts return when she fully realizes just how chaotic the Yukihira family can be.
Eventually, Erina starts to cook in the kitchen too and Souma holds his seniority over her. She pouts and bets she’ll already be a better cook but it’s her first time in a live setting but she quickly gets overwhelmed by the pace. Souma calms her down with the hand slap and takes over.
Hisako is annoyed that Souma deigns to assume he can do better than her Lady but quickly takes it back when she sees him work. Erina even admits it that yes, she can cook food better, but Souma has actual kitchen experience. Plating, serving, working under pressure, customer relations, he surpasses her in all of those. But make this a 5-year-old speak version.
Hisako sees what she means and both of them carefully watch Souma perform in the kitchen and the diner, swearing that they’ll surpass him. Soon, when Jo is teaching Erina something, Souma talks to Hisako alone and they get to know each other. Hisako is more respectful to him since Erina is friendly towards him and his family.
Souma asks how long she’s been friends with Erina and Hisako denies this, stating that she is merely Erina’s aide. One such as her is not worthy enough to be her friend. Souma finds this super weird cause he and Erina are friends. And every time Erina talks about her, she always says that Hisako’s her friend, though she wishes she’d be closer. Hisako is shocked and Souma encourages her to stand beside her as a friend instead of behind her as just an aide.
“Oi, Erina. Is Hisako your friend?” “What are you talking about, of course she is!” “Ha! I told you.” Souma tells Hisako in triumph. From that day on, Hisako and Erina become proper friends. As do Souma and Hisako, with her being eternally grateful that he gave her that push. The three go on to be a proper trio.
Souma has been to the Nakiri mansion at this point and met Alice.
just when things are going great for everyone, Azami comes in and begins Erina’s “education.” He cuts off contact with her friends and Souma gets worried that he hasn’t heard from her in a while and reached out to Hisako. Hisako tells him what’s happening, Souma tells his dad, and Jo tells Senzaemon, who promptly kicks out Azami from the Nakiri family. They’re all around 6 now.
Erina returns to the Yukihira restaurant and things seem normal again. Until she tastes a dish Souma cooked. Azami’s conditioning is still freshly ingrained in her and so she’s overly harsh to his food, almost cruel. In fact, for a 6-year-old, it is cruel. Souma starts crying because he doesn’t know why his best friend is mean to him. This gets Erina to cry because she made Souma cry and she’s really sorry. Hisako is crying because her best friends are fighting and crying and Jo and Tamako have to deal with a trio of crying 6-year-olds.
Tamako is consoling Erina while Jo explains to Souma and Hisako what Azami did to Erina in a way that’d be appropriate for 6-year-olds. Souma and Hisako naturally conclude that Azami is a jerk and a butt head and hatch a plan to make Erina feel better
Tamako is comforting Erina when Souma and Hisako come back into the kitchen and announce they’re going to cook something for her so she feels better cause her dads a jerk
they keep making dishes for Erina to try and she starts out still somewhat mean but Erina dials it down each time with Tamako’s help until she’s giving them honest critiques and advice. The “failed” dishes go out to the customers in the diner as an “experimental” gamble like Tamako does but each one is a massive hit for pallets not as refined as Erina’s.
each dish is better than the last one and by the end, all three of the kids are smiling and having a good time. Erina even calls it delicious. Souma and Hisako are happy that Erina is feeling better but he says her “delicious” doesn’t count for his goal since he had Hisako’s help. He wants Erina to say his food is delicious all on his own.
with the combined efforts of her two best friends never giving up on her, therapy, the support her family, reconnecting with Alice, and the Yukihira family, Erina is able to heal from the wounds Azami inflicted. Though a scar still remains.
