Bring back the days where lying in the grass on a warm summers day and just watching the leaves rustle was enough. When sticking our feet in the sand and listening to the waves lap in was okay. When not everything had to be 'productive'. We are not here to tick off societies checklist. We are here to live. We are here to breathe in the moments of beauty and joy and wonder around us. To spend some days dancing in adventure and others melting into the world with nothing but the moment on our minds. We are allowed to simply ‘be’.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐨𝐧 📍 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧⛰️
I cannot begin to tell you the immeasurable sense of freedom you would feel from being atop one of the most spectacular mountains in Rio De Janeiro 🇧🇷:
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 ⛰️ - 𝐏ã𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐀çú𝐜𝐚𝐫
.
A cable car 🚠 ride up, you have about three floors to the top you can explore and take photos.
The view is just breathtaking. 🥰
Separating Rio De Janeiro from the Atlantic Ocean, this is probably the second biggest highlight of Rio, after Christ The Redeemer.
.
I felt such a rush of energy from being up there and just seeing the entire city from above. I think much of this has to do with the awe-inspiring magnitude of nature. There are so many instances in the world in which you can see nature in its greatest form, but I have to say few can beat that of a magnificent mountain view.

The last three months and 9,000 miles exploring the country smashed into the most fitting song! 🤩💙
I decided now was the time to make this recap video because I've just crossed the border into Canada and am embarking on part II of my journey to Alaska.
I have a list of favorite places and add to it all the time. I've met some incredible people, but mostly I've met myself. Free, with heart open. This is a feeling I never want to lose.
You are never too old to try new things or to chase your dreams. Don't let other peoples' fears stop you from doing things you know you are capable of. It's just you and you at the end of the day anyways, so make yourself proud, and do the dream.

A little update on my life. I know I haven't posted much lately. After I was diagnosed with ADHD, I made the mistake of telling my work. They made my life miserable after that so I decided to go back to school and finish my degree in Geospatial Science. Only 3 semesters left, and still have a GI bill to pay for it. I sold my house, my Jeep, and my Motorcycle. Once those were sold I put in my two week notice and used the money from my house to spend a couple months in Europe. Today is my last day in The Netherlands, tomorrow I head to France. I will say I'm feeling a bit lonely, the hostels I've been staying at are nice and all but everyone seems to be in their own little world, or coupled up in a relationship. I'm definitely enjoying myself don't get me wrong, but I feel like it would be better to share this experience with someone. I'll try to update this more often. In the meantime you can check out my TikToks @Anistasia

Hi, I'm Karen 😊
My two favorite things are traveling and photography. Of course, I found a way to combine them!
I am a photographer, filmmaker, traveler, writer, graphic and web designer, and so much more. As you can probably guess, I keep myself pretty busy. I can’t help but think of new ideas and dive headfirst into them.
I have been a photographer for 15+ years and specialize in documentary-style photography. Throughout those years my interests expanded to filmmaking, graphic design, and web design. Naturally, when I started traveling, my camera came along with me. I fell in love with seeing parts of the world I haven’t seen before and experiencing things different from my normal. So far, I have traveled to 15 countries and 20 US states, and I am always looking for new places to explore. Photography has always made that exploration even more fun and helped me end up in places that I would have least expected. There is something about a camera being in your hand that pushes you to explore that hidden spot, walk that extra mile, and improve your patience when waiting for something amazing.
This is how I came up with the concept of The Everyday Adventure. When you start to think of everything as an adventure, it makes life a little more exciting. I help with everything travel. From before your trip to after, and everything in between! Click my website link below to plan your next journey or just daydream about future trips with me.

Chance encounter in Busan
DongHyun glances at me in the quiet afternoon train and with mischief in his voice he says "you're cute". Saying it out loud is a risk and he knows it. His English can only carry simple sentences but we're able to understand each other because we are both excited and the novelty of meeting each other makes everything feel possible. He found me struggling with my luggage at the bus terminal looking for the subway sign just as I arrived in Busan. He offered his help as many other korean men had done since I arrived but usually they'd help you up the stairs without a word then be on their way. DongHyun, eager to practice his English, I assumed, asked more questions. He asked where I was headed and if he could help. I gave him a once over and decided he didn't seem sketchy and honestly I could use the help getting to my beach side hotel. I had left Seoul without doing too much research on how to get around in Busan and now in this new city, I felt out of my depth.
Once inside the train he gestures for us to stand up and walk towards the door where the map is located. He then explains to me the route we will take and the subway connections we will make to get to where I am going. As I'm standing next to him I became hyper-aware of the looks we are receiving. Me, a pudgy black girl with fauxlocs in a sea of korean people next to this towering Korean man who appears to like being seen next to me. Most people in the train are elderly which only heightens my self consciousness.
We sit down and I want to make conversation but the other passengers are quiet so I follow suit. He also seems comfortable in the silence.
After a few changes and very curious stares from children, we reach the Gwangalli beach station and he takes over my suitcase. The oceanside air is balmy and there's a breeze. It's Sunday afternoon and the beach is packed. The walk to the hotel is longer than I expect and with a suitcase in tow, far less comfortable than I prefer. As we approach the hotel I start to get anxious. How will I politely thank him and ask him to leave? He's been friendly but I definitely get the impression that he has nowhere to be and he's looking for a good time. I too wouldn't mind fooling around but I need to get a bit more comfortable with the idea.
As we walk up the stairs to the entrance I broach the subject. "Thank you so much. You've been so helpful, I'd like to treat you to a meal but I need you to wait for me in the lobby so I can freshen up a bit. Is that OK?". "Oh it's okay. But you can't buy me a meal. In Korea older person buy food", he responds. I get the sense that there's no arguing but I protest anyway. We eventually settle on a plan where he'll buy me dinner and I'll pay for drinks. It's a compromise.
He takes a seat on one of the couches at reception as I check in. My room is impressive and has ocean views but I don't have time to admire it, I take a quick shower and put on comfortable clothes with a floral headband and go back down stairs. I'm half expecting that he's left but I find him waiting outside smoking his e-cigarette. "Wah, beautiful" he says, when he sees me. I giggle a little which he seems to enjoy. Out we go looking for restaurant. I'm finally going to have the barbecue I haven't been able to have as a solo traveller. And the tall eager man with a big build and glasses next to me is going to show me a good time.

la dolce vita. my trip to italy was amazing! I met another solo traveller, ate the best dishes and tiramisu, tried wine throughout lombardy, limoncello throughout Tuscany and took some stunning photos. I think the way I travel has been forever changed because now, I always want to hire a professional photographer - I don't regret the money I paid at all. cheers to a successful trip!

Week 2: February 20th-26th, 2023 // Lions and Tigers and… Lizards?
The beginning of this week has been slow and beautiful. I drove Alissa and her friend Katy to the start of the South Coast Track at Cockle Creek, and found myself a nice little spot to set up the van for a couple nights. It’s the first time in a long time where I’ve felt like I can really just “be.”
There’s nothing I have to do and there’s nowhere I have to be, and it feels wonderful. My days have been filled with hours of reading, wandering around the beach, and staring mindlessly at the view from the comfort of my bed. There’s no rush, no urgency, there’s just this beautiful feeling of pure existence, for no other purpose than to just exist.
---
Feb 22nd I finally went out on my first hike in Australia! I got up at 6am to watch the sunrise from the beach + have breakfast, then I drove 10minutes up the road back to where I dropped Alissa and her friend off. It was a beautiful ~16km round trip to Lions Rock at South Cape Bay and oh my goodness – when I say the view took my breath away… was such a beautiful spot to end at! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves (even though they really don’t do the views any justice). The whole trail covered a variety of landscape, from spidery archway trees, to vast open plains, to amazon/jungle like dense forests – it was truly a great introduction to Australia hiking. Got to see my first snake (a black tiger snake) and many lizards, lots of cute birds, and cool plant life.
My favourite thing about this type of lifestyle is the people you meet – always so friendly and a wealth of knowledge for other experiences, always so eager to help you in any way you need! I lucked out with having this super lovely older couple set up in their van next to me, Rab & Jude, who offered me food and a place to stay for when I’m in New South Whales, a map of the south coast, and plenty of destination recommendations.
---
Back in town on the 24th I spent my time at a beach, lots more reading, running some errands, getting some Graphic Design work done for a friend I met back in May who owns the lovely art studio + workshop business Luminous Elephants Studio! Highly recommend checking out her courses if you’re looking to get (back) into creating and learning, or organizing a corporate event! https://www.luminouselephant.com/socials
---
Sunday was a lovely, slow and connected day – spending some time at the Mayfair Market in the morning, and making dinner with Alissa + her roommates. We made lasagna, garlic bread, and a beet salad (made by Sam, who was inspired after Alissa and I spent the morning stating beets were an inferior vegetable and tasted like dirt lol). It felt really nice to spend an evening with great company, eating great food, and having great conversations. Feeling very grateful to these people for making Tassie feel like home and taking such great care of me in my first couple weeks here <3
---
Other fun updates: had my first bad stall on a hill... rubber was burnt... smells were bad... but I persevered and managed to get it eventually lol! On the plus side, my parallel parking game is getting much stronger 😎 Had my first van spider! Aaannd finally learned how to belay thanks to Annie teaching me!
---
These next couple weeks are going to be a combination of some more hiking adventures, getting back out in the van camping again, sorting out some minor van repairs, and (weather depending) getting out climbing on some real rocks for first time in years!
Stay passionate and curious, Hunter♡
