March 16, 2022 - Clark, a Swedish series directed by Jonas Åkerlund and starring Bill Skarsgård as Clark Olofsson - the notorious Swedish bank robber, and the man whose actions inspired the expression “The Stockholm syndrome” – is coming to Netflix on May 5, 2022.

About Clark

The fictional drama series Clark follows the man behind the expression “The Stockholm syndrome” on his life journey as he fooled all of Sweden to fall in love with him, despite several counts of drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft and dozens of bank robberies. Based on the truths and lies revealed in Clark Olofsson’s autobiography and directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the series provides a fictional take on one of the most controversial personalities in contemporary Swedish history.

Halfslachtige poging om Hollywoodiaanse thriller te maken Erik Van Looy verraste vriend en vijand met De zaak Alzheimer in 2003. Watched “Het Tweede Gelaat” (French title: “Double Face”, English title: “Control”) (2017), Jan Verheyen’s latest movie.

(Jan is somewhat of a legend on the Belgian film scene: when he was 18, he started a new film festival on the Belgian coast and such guests as Robert Altman and Dennis Hopper showed up.)

“Het Tweede Gelaat” is Jan’s second thriller based on a novel of the Belgian writer Jef Geeraerts with the police detectives Eric Vincke (Koen De Bouw) and Freddy Verstuyft (Werner De Smedt).

This time, they struggle with a serial killer after the police dogs find 6 bodies without a head buried in the countryside.

I liked everything about this movie: the complex screenplay, the acting (with newcomer Sofie Hoflack as a nice surprise), the cool photography in scandi noir style and the locations. (I recognised most of them instantly.)

The Antwerp cathedral plays a big role in the finale: Vincke discovers where the killer is hiding because he recognises the carillon over the phone. A pursuit on the rooftops of the adjoining houses ensues that made me think of Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”.
