Inspired by the Disney Princess villain song series by Lydia the Bard, here’s my idea for Princess Sofia’s own dark version of a Sofia the First song and the backstory and animatic script accompanying it. There are mentioned dead bodies and a little blood. I’ve really tried to keep her in-character, despite the very different circumstances and tone. She’s more of an anti-villain here.
I’d love to hear feedback on this and talk to other fans, of Sofia or Lydia.
I’ve written one for Princess Elena too!

SPOILERS
Season 4 episode 17 or season 4 episode 19 on Disney Plus "The Birthday Wish"
Sofia's 11th birthday party was ruined by multiple things so Tizzy, Ruby's fairy godmother cast a spell that would let her redo the day but she hadn't read the spell fully and it had said until "the person who this spell was cast on is truly happy for the day, it will repeat endlessly"
Sofia relived her birthday over and over until she was free from the spell and becoming really happy for the day.
The amount of angst potential this could have in any fanfic where Sofia just questions her age wondering if all those birthday's would count because she had tried again and again to make sure everything went perfectly thinking that a perfect birthday party would make her happy not knowing it was something else. Her being trapped in an endless timeloop of having relived the same day for years and questioning if that technically counts as her aging.
Dear lord the Angst potential. She just wanted to celebrate her birthday and she got a curse instead that wasn't even from the amulet but because SOMEONE didn't want to do their job properly and read the entire spell.

I’m proud to admit that I’m a pink dress hater for this show. I’m not excited to get to the part where her color pallet changes. Long live purple dress Sofia

Holiday in Enchancia
I know that Cedric didn't appear in this episode, which I find strange.
If the royal family had asked Cedric to use his crystal ball to find Roland's location while he was missing, they wouldn't have needed to go looking for him in a blizzard and risk their own safety.
Maybe a locator spell would even end up finding him.
I don't think Cedric would have neglected to look for Roland, even if they weren't such good friends anymore.
Indeed Cedric wanted the throne, but I don't think he would be so cruel to let his childhood friend get lost in the snow to die, especially considering that in addition to being king, Roland is also a father of a family.
The script could have given an excuse that the crystal ball was being interfered with by the blizzard, and that it wouldn't be able to find Roland accurately.

Headcanon: King Roland's Unlikely Detective
In the kingdom of Enchancia, King Roland is known for his wisdom and unconventional decisions. One such decision was appointing a female servant as the royal detective, a role traditionally held by men. This headcanon explores how this unique choice came to be and its impact on the kingdom.
The Servant's Background:
The servant, named Elara, was known for her keen observational skills and sharp intellect. Despite her humble position, she often solved minor mysteries around the castle, impressing those who noticed her talents. Her ability to notice details others overlooked made her an invaluable asset.
Roland's Decision:
King Roland, recognizing Elara's potential, decided to break tradition and appoint her as the royal detective. He believed that a fresh perspective was needed to tackle the kingdom's mysteries and that Elara's unique insights could uncover truths hidden from others.
Challenges and Triumphs:
Elara faced skepticism from some courtiers who doubted her abilities due to her gender and background. However, she quickly proved herself by solving a high-profile case involving missing royal jewels. Her success not only solidified her position but also inspired other women in the kingdom to pursue roles traditionally denied to them.
Impact on Enchancia:
Elara's appointment marked a turning point in Enchancia's history, promoting equality and challenging societal norms. Her success stories became legendary, and she paved the way for future generations of women to follow their dreams, regardless of societal expectations.
This headcanon highlights King Roland's progressive thinking and Elara's determination, showcasing how breaking barriers can lead to positive change in society.

I like to think that maybe Cedric could become a teacher there if it is a boarding school! He had that one episode arc in the original series, but I think it would be fun to watch him fully embrace that.
And the idea with the amulet becoming her staff is so cool! I never would’ve thought of that haha. I figure she’ll probably use the wand she got while being a protector, but the staff idea is *chefs kiss*
Some things I want to see in Sofia the First: Royal Magic
-- Cedric mentoring Sofia as she learns to harness her new magic abilities as a magical princess (I mean, they're close friends and he's a sorcerer- the royal sorcerer of her kingdom, no less).
-- If Charmswell is a boarding school, Cedric could give Sofia some kind of magical object to keep in touch with him (and likely the rest of her family).
-- Sofia unlocking a new power from her amulet, the ability to transform her amulet into a magic staff her size (with the jewel itself as the magical part atop of the staff).
-- Sofia learning to sense magic (I hc sorcerers and other magic-users can feel magic around them).
What do you think? And what are some of your own ideas?

It's so funny to me like how in the opening of STF they show us the castle from above...
Tumblr media
...and you can clearly see that they didn't showed us the big space in the back because they would add more stuff there in the future, and you can clearly see that it's empty. But in season two, in the Enchanted Feast episode... (I'm watching this episode rn)
Tumblr media
...it's full of stuff there. And they changed the design of the isle, because that little tower in the left, with a blue roof, it's on the edge of the isle, and when you look into the first opening/once upon a princess movie, there's like a whole path around it (first image).
I just analyzed two images because I remembered it. There must be more variations of the castle out there, if you find them reblog the post and add them so we can create a chain of versions of the castle, it's gonna be fun
(And when they are in the ballroom it is possible to see Cedric's tower through the window, but looking from outside, his tower is very, very far from the ballroom, there is barely any space between the sorcerer's tower and another tower, it's just- almost facing a wall)
Edit: the whole design of the front garden changed oh my god

THE WAY I WOULD ABSOLUTELY CONSUME A FIC ABOUT THIS.
Imagining them like being in the woods or something (sequestered in a quaint cabin) and Sofia running away when she finds out… maybe Wormwood was the one to tell her?
I’m going to be thinking about this my entire shift haha
umm guys i'm new to the sofia the first fandom and i made an au
it's probably the most basic and unoriginal thing ever LMAO but hear me out guys hear me out
and if something about this is like not original because it's part of the canon series, please forgive me i'm only on the last episodes of season two HAHAHA
so basically queen miranda dies rescuing sofia from something idk
and king roland is like DEVASTATED and he ends up blaming sofia for miranda's death and starting to resent her and treat her very badly. amber and james try to defend sofia, but it only makes things worse for all of them, so sofia urges amber and james to stay safe. but roland's treatment towards sofia grows worse and worse, and sofia turns to the amulet for help, but she gets nothing.
that's where cedric comes in. cedric has always sort of seen sofia as a daughter figure (not consciously) and when he finds out about what roland is doing, he's furious. he takes sofia and runs with her, abandoning enchancia and everything in it, including his job as royal sorcerer. it's the hardest decision he ever made, but he knows that nobody else will be there for sofia. nobody else would dare disobey the king.
so sofia and cedric have run away, off to another kingdom. and sofia is, of course, very grateful that cedric rescued her. but as they're wandering, sofia discovers cedric's plans to steal her amulet. she's heartbroken and terrified. was this the real reason why cedric took her away? to try and steal her amulet and take over enchancia? sofia has no idea who to trust or what to believe. what she doesn't know is that cedric gave up on the amulet and doesn't want to rule the kingdom if it means that any harm comes to sofia. but he realizes that too late, and she discovers the secret too late. so now, cedric has no idea that sofia knows, and he thinks everything is great.
so ummm yeah!
