Tumblr media
Foods You Should Eat for Stronger Teeth
Overall oral health depends on having strong, healthy teeth, and nutrition is a major factor in reaching this objective. Just Search for the Best Dentist Near Me All Over Known as Dr. Nivesh Kakkar oral Clinic in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, stress the value of particular meals that can support oral health and strengthen teeth. This blog will discuss the many foods that support dental health, their advantages, and how to include them in your regular diet.
The Role of Nutrition in Dental Health
Your diet has a direct impact on the condition of your teeth. Foods high in vitamins, minerals, and other vital elements can lower the risk of cavities, promote gum health, and strengthen tooth enamel. On the other hand, gum disease and tooth decay can result from eating foods high in sugar and acid. You may greatly improve your oral health by making educated food choices.
Foods That Strengthen Teeth
1. Dairy Products
Calcium and phosphates, which are essential for healthy teeth, are abundant in dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt. The casein protein in dairy products stabilizes and restores tooth enamel, while calcium aids in its growth and repair. It has been demonstrated that cheese, in particular, raises the mouth's pH level, lowering the risk of tooth decay. Think about fortified plant-based substitutes, such as soy milk, if you have a lactose intolerance.
2. Leafy Greens
Vitamins and minerals included in leafy greens, such as collard greens, spinach, and kale, support dental health. Their high folic acid and calcium content can assist to fortify gums and teeth. Because of their fibrous structure, these veggies demand a lot of chewing, which increases saliva production, which is crucial for counteracting the acids that oral bacteria produce.
3. Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables
Apples, carrots, celery, and other fruits and vegetables that need to be chewed a lot are good for your teeth. These crunchy foods promote salivation while removing food particles and plaque. Malic acid, which is found in apples, can aid in the removal of tooth surface stains. Vitamin A, which is abundant in carrots, is necessary to keep gums healthy.
4. Nuts and Seeds
For your teeth, nuts like almonds and seeds like sesame seeds make excellent treats. They are low in sugar and high in protein and calcium. By supplying vital nutrients for strong teeth, the good fats in nuts also support general oral health.
5. Fatty Fish
Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D are abundant in fatty fish, such as salmon. While vitamin D aids in the body's efficient absorption of calcium, omega-3 fatty acids offer anti-inflammatory qualities that promote gum health. Eating fatty fish can help maintain healthy gums and strong teeth.
6. Green Tea
In addition to being a delicious beverage, green tea has other dental advantages. It includes catechins, which are potent antioxidants that attack the germs that cause plaque accumulation and help reduce inflammation. Fluoride, which is necessary to strengthen tooth enamel, can also be obtained by drinking green tea.
7. Whole Grains
Because of their high fiber content and vital elements like iron and B vitamins, whole grains like brown rice, oats, and quinoa are good for your teeth. These nutrients enhance general health and promote gum health.
8. Water
Maintaining ideal dental health requires drinking plenty of water. Water encourages the production of saliva, your body's natural defense against cavities, and helps wash away food particles and bacteria from the mouth. By offering more defense against decay, drinking fluoridated water can improve your dental health even more.
Foods to Avoid
While certain foods can strengthen your teeth, others can contribute to decay:
Sugary Snacks: Sugary drinks, candies, and cookies encourage the growth of dangerous bacteria that cause tooth decay by producing acids.
Acidic foods include soda, pickles, and citrus fruits, which can erode enamel if ingested in excess.
Sticky Foods: Bacteria thrive on foods that stick to teeth, such as caramel or dried fruits.
Conclusion
A straightforward yet efficient method to maintain good oral health and strengthen your teeth is to include tooth-friendly foods in your diet. A balanced diet full of dairy products, leafy greens, crunchy fruits and vegetables, nuts, fatty fish, whole grains, green tea, and lots of water is what we at Dr. Nivesh Kakkar Dental Clinic advise our patients to eat.
Keep in mind that maintaining strong teeth requires both routine dental checkups and appropriate oral hygiene habits, such as brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Please get in touch with us if you need expert dental care guidance or if you have any issues regarding your diet! You should take the greatest care of your smile!

Vegan Recipes for 2023
Tumblr media
Veganism has become increasingly popular in India in recent years. A vegan diet excludes all animal products and byproducts, in addition to any foods that involve exploitation or cruelty to animals. In principle, a vegan diet is a pure plant-based lifestyle that emphasizes fruits, vegetables, seeds, grains, and nuts. Sarita Bazaz, Founder of The Food Affairs, of the top 5 catering companies in Delhi offering luxury food services in India uses the start of the year as an opportunity to unveil the idea of how veganism is an emerging movement that is gripping the globe by sharing some of the most delectable vegan recipes to try out!
1. Chia Pudding
A chia pudding would be an attractive option to the conventional breakfast of toast or oats. Chia seeds are grains that are rich in nutrition and energy. Thus, a small portion of it could offer you a strong, stimulated start to the day.
Ingredients : 3-4 tablespoons chia seeds, 1 cup milk, and honey. Recipe: Inside a large bowl, mix the chia seeds, milk, and honey. Allow it to settle for 10 minutes before giving it another gentle stir. Allow the pudding to thicken and cool. Let the pudding settle for at least a few hours (or overnight) in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, top with preferred fruits and nuts, or layer a fruit puree on the top.
2. Jaggery Granola
Jaggery Granola is a natural source of proteins, dietary fiber, and critical nutrients, and it is packed with a richness of healthy seeds, jaggery, and cinnamon flavouring to make the meal hearty, delectable, and crunchy.
Ingredients: Oats, coconut powder, pistachio, a few sliced almonds, jaggery, maple syrup, blackcurrant, glazed cherry, and salt. Recipe: Set aside the oats after roasting them in a large pan until they turn golden brown. Then, separately, roast the nuts and seeds in the same skillet with a tablespoon of oil until lightly browned and set it apart as well. Heat the jaggery in a wide, deep-bottomed pan over low heat until fully melted. Mix the roasted oats into the jaggery in the pan till thoroughly blended. To avoid burning, keep stirring the mixture consistently. Add the nuts, blackcurrant, and seeds and continue roasting on low heat until the jaggery caramelizes and the granola turns a dark golden brown. Now add the remaining ingredients to the mixture and mix well. Take it off the stove and stir all of the ingredients together for another minute. Lastly, let the Granola cool completely before transferring it to a sealed container.
3. Apple Cake
Apple cake is a light, soft, spongy recipe made with whole wheat flour that keeps the taste buds delectably intact and leaves the body feeling light after consumption.
Ingredients: A touch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder, and 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder. Recipe: Mix together all the dry ingredients. Then, to the dry ingredient combination, add half a teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Set aside the dry ingredients after sifting them twice. In a blender container, combine 2 cups sliced apples and 3/4th cup raw sugar to make an apple puree. Add 1/4th cup oil to the puree, followed by 1/2 cup water and either almond, cashew, or coconut milk. Finally, add a tablespoon of lemon juice and stir until all of the ingredients are evenly mixed. Now add the sifted dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and pour the mixture into the baking pan. Keep in the microwave for 10- 15 mins and the fresh delight is out and ready to eat!
4. Roti Jala
Roti Jala, which translates to “net bread,” is inspired by a fisherman’s net. This is a healthy and light evening snack when served with the traditional stew, Moong Bean Salad, Spicy Sambhal, and Pachadi. The roti was revived in an Indonesian cultural context to complement and be used with other traditional food dips.
Ingredients: 2 cups flour, 1 cup water, 1 cup coconut milk, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon turmeric, and vegetable oil as needed. Recipe: Whisk together the flour, water, coconut milk, eggs, salt, and turmeric in a medium mixing bowl until well blended. Poke three holes in the cap of a plastic water bottle using a paring knife or fork. Fill the bottle halfway with pancake batter. Over medium heat, gently oil a saute pan. Invert the water bottle swiftly and spray the batter in quick circular motions to make a netlike design. Allow one to two minutes for the pancake to cook. Don’t flip it and keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn. Take off the pan, fold in the sides, and roll up. Serve with gravy and enjoy.
To summarise, becoming vegan requires no change in our fundamental moral views, but rather a commitment to be healthy and sensitive to the environment that shapes us. Hope to see more catering services using vegan recipes like these to help you relish the joy of taste and health in the new year!

Benefits of solid Blasting
Looking for the best dry ice pot machines in Delhi Cold Jet can help. We provide the highest quality technology, so you can get your hands on exceptional dry ice production equipment.
Tumblr media
Recent advances in technology have made solid blasting an increasingly practical and affordable alternative to traditional cleaning methods like sand, soda, or water blasting and manual cleaning with solvents.
Dry ice blasting are often utilized in a good sort of applications starting from sensitive cleaning situations, like removing flux from electronic circuit boards, to heavy sanitation jobs, like removing slag from automotive assembly rails.
Dry ice blasting features a wide selection of applications in food processing, plastics and molded products industries, automotive, printing, aerospace, contract cleaning, general maintenance, and lots of other industries. Listed below are the first benefits of cleaning with dry ice:
Faster & simpler
Compared to manual cleaning with solvents and a wire brush, solid blasting can cut cleaning time, resulting in reduced costs. With solid blasting, you'll clean your equipment, molds, and dies on line and "in place." there's not needing to disassemble, mask, then reassemble large complex machinery. Downtime is minimized, labor costs are reduced, and productivity increased.
A Dry Process
Since solid sublimates (turns into CO2 gas) upon contact, the method is dry. solid blasting is non-conductive and safe for electrical applications where using water might not be advisable or permitted.
No Media Waste
Frequently the "clean-up" from your current cleaning method is worse than the cleaning itself. solid solves that problem by eliminating secondary waste. solid pellets do the work and easily disappear, eliminating the high disposal costs related to other materials.
Non-Abrasive
The non-abrasive nature of solid means cleaning won't damage sensitive parts or production equipment, extending the useful lifetime of equipment and minimizing the probabilities of defective products.
Environmentally Friendly & Safe
Dry ice cleaning may be a "green" process that uses small pellets of recycled CO2 to wash a surface. The pellets sublimate (turning from solid on to gas) during the cleaning process. The CO2 gas is absorbed by trees and plants and converted into carbon (plant growth) and oxygen. solid blasting is basically "green" recycling at its best.
Dry ice pot blasting doesn't contribute to greenhouse gasses and no hazardous wastes are produced. With basic safety precautions, the work process is safe. No ozone-depleting chemicals are used and there's no exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).

Water Water everywhere but…...
In the present times of COVID 19 pandemic, one of the many guidelines at health centers and by medical practitioners is to drink at least 1 to 1.5 liters of water, warm if one can get. This triggered my memories and experience with drinking water.
In school going days of 1950s and 1960s, I used to drink tap water everywhere and whenever I got thirsty.
I often travelled on long journeys of approximately 24 hrs by train in summers to go to my maternal uncle’s town (Karad, Maharashtra from Ahmedabad, Gujarat). All along the route, we drank water from taps of the railway stations. We boys brought the same water in bottles or lota for the women- mother and sisters- who travelled with us.
At our residence at Ahmedabad, water was scarce as tap water was limited to 1 to 2 hrs in a day and we depended on hand pump to bring up water. Despite it, the water was ok to drink without filtration but sometimes stored in earthen pots to cool during summer months. As children, we played outdoor games and whenever thirsty, we went to anybody’s house and asked for water to drink.
In those days, we did not mind drinking water from a tap while standing but nowadays they insist that we should sit and drink!
In Gujarat and Maharashtra, it is customary to offer water to every guest and now I can appreciate the importance of that custom.
When I joined BITS, Pilani in 1967, on the train journey of 24 hrs we drank water from taps on the numerous stations which we passed. I do not recollect having carried a water bottle. This continued for five years till we passed out of BITS on both way journeys.
In the first semester at BITS, Pilani, my three best friends (roommate and neighbours) were down with jaundice, one after another. I was spared by the grace of God. Each was hospitalized for a week or so and then they decided to go home for recouping as the Malayali nurses were not so attractive at the hospital.
During this period, I got a valuable tip from the compounder of our health clinic on the campus that in BITS Pilani, one can eat anything and any amount (Hogg) but must drink a lot of water after each meal. Water of Pilani, though subsoil, was the key to good health. I followed it up and most of my friends did so. As a result, there were no major illnesses thereafter. In Pilani, we always drank tap water except outside the mess. There was a cooler in summer months, but water quality was same.
While working in Delhi in 1970s, I used to buy cold water for Paise 5 from the hand cart during summer and I am sure it was ordinary water.
I was fortunate to make a trip to France and UK in 1979 as a member of a team from Engineers India Ltd (EIL). On that tour, we drank more table wine than water as water was expensive. Also carbonated or sparkling water was popular to our disbelief.
I stayed in Bombay in the late 80’s and the overhead tanks provided water to the flats and that too for a limited period. I faintly recall that in 1980s we started filtering this water for kitchen and drinking use, especially in monsoon months to remove fine dust particles. Most used a stationary candle filter of two compartments- upper and lower.
At most of construction sites which I had to visit as project in charge, drinking water was from unknown source but it was still not bottled.
I lived in Pune before going to Japan in 1990’s and we still continued ordinary filtration of tap water. In Japan like many developed countries, tap water was potable but the water management was very elaborate and expensive for the residents. Water supply was from one pipe, but effluent (waste) water was segregated in three different categories 1) water from kitchen 2) water from bathroom and wash basin 3) water from WC. Kitchen effluent was treated and sent to non-civil use. Bath water was treated and fully recycled. WC waste was treated and probably used for irrigation or gardening. There were four meters and I paid for each consumption and effluent stream.
I came across a contradictory custom in Japan. In the residences/homes, Japanese would invariably drink warm water or preferably drink Japanese tea-Ocha or Miso soup-with warm water available from an electric kettle 24x7. In contradiction, the dine in restaurants (Red Lobster) would serve water with lot of ice without asking (like the custom in India). We had to ask for water without ice.
My Japanese boss would stick to beer or scotch with chilled soda and he avoided ice cubes when in India. When I asked him the reason, he mentioned that he was not sure of the quality of water used to make ice cubes. He also told me that families of Japanese staff of Sumitomo in Mumbai washed vegetables bought from Crawford market with bottled water-Bisleri.
I spent a few years in Muscat, Oman in the late 1990’s. The tap water came from the desalination plant, but the potable water had to be from a packaged jar or PET bottle. This water came for desert streams called WADI.
I do not recall when we started using UV filtration in Pune and buying drinking water from outside when travelling or visiting. Probably in the mid1990s.
My daughter mentioned that while in school in Japan (early1990s) and University in Australia (early 2000) she never carried any drinking water. But in India she carried a bottle of water as there was no way she would be drinking water from a tap!
In the last ten years or so, we have started using RO Green Aqua guard filter and it throws out rejects to the tune of 40 percent. Anywhere outside, we demand bottled water (wrongly called mineral water) or at least Aqua guard filtered water.
I have experienced the potable water being supplied at taps in developed countries like Canada. I believe that the water is heavily treated with chemicals and does have an adverse effect on the skin and hair. Many Indian women complain of their hair falling or becoming very rough after a head bath in these countries. Finally, it boils down to “what is the quality of water that is potable?” Also, such heavily treated water loses its natural taste which we find in streams in the hills or Himalayas or Alps or Rocky Mountains.
It is reported that the first distillery/brewery of Mohan Meakins was established at Solan, near Shimla purely to take advantage of the natural stream water. Cool climate added to its advantage.
In conclusion, I can say that, in India, most population- urban or rural – is getting the water for daily use (washing and potable) from the same source over the past couple of decades. The sources are river, dam, its reservoir, and canals (mostly irrigation schemes), lakes and wells including bore wells. Over the years, the population has exploded and there is more migration to cities. The new settlements of people in areas near dams and lakes or rivers have introduced pollution to the sources of water. Earlier these sources delivered almost pure water but now the same sources deliver impure water. We, in India, waste the rare resource of water instead of managing it as a priceless commodity. Israel experts have opined that India should be able meet its needs with 10 percent of the water available, but we have water shortage and water supply cuts in many cities in summer months when water is most needed.
It is also a fact the younger generation and the foreigners who visit India have lower immunity and hence must be careful in choosing drinking water quality.
It is time (may be already late) that we, in India, wake up to the importance of water as a scarce resource and manage it prudently.

One of the best ways to get results right away is with in-office whitening procedures. High-concentration hydrogen peroxide gels that are triggered by certain lamps are commonly used in these operations. The procedure is perfect for people looking for immediate results before a big occasion because it can lighten teeth several shades in a single session.

Natural Teeth Whitening Remedies
Natural teeth-whitening techniques have gotten more and more popular as customers' health concerns have increased. Common household items that are less harsh and chemical-free are frequently used in these treatments.
Baking Soda
Baking soda's mild abrasive qualities make it a popular natural whitener. When combined with water to form a paste, it can aid in the removal of surface stains. Over time, consistent usage of baking soda toothpaste can help create a whiter smile.
Hydrogen Peroxide
Another powerful natural bleaching agent is hydrogen peroxide. It can be used with baking soda to intensify its whitening properties or used as a mouthwash. However, because of the possibility of tooth sensitivity, it should be taken with caution.
Oil Pulling
The ancient practice of oil pulling is swishing oil—typically coconut oil—in the mouth for 15 to 20 minutes. Whiter teeth and better oral health may result from this technique's potential to lessen plaque and bacteria accumulation.
Fruits and Vegetables
Natural enzymes found in some fruits, such as pineapple and strawberries (bromelain in pineapple, and malic acid in strawberries), may aid in stain removal. Although the effectiveness of these techniques has not been demonstrated by science, they can be used into a more comprehensive oral hygiene regimen.
Innovative Teeth Whitening Products
The market for teeth-whitening products has grown dramatically, offering a wide range of convenient and efficient solutions.
Whitening Strips
Whitening strips are tiny plastic strips covered in a whitening gel that contains peroxide. Within a few days, they can have obvious results and are simple to apply. Nowadays, a lot of companies sell strips that are safe for enamel and made for teeth that are sensitive.
Activated Charcoal
Because of its adsorptive qualities, which may aid in binding stains on teeth, activated charcoal has gained popularity as a component in oral care products. But if used excessively, it can be abrasive, so exercise caution.
Natural Whitening Gels
Natural whitening gels free of harsh chemicals like peroxide are now available from a number of companies. These products are promoted as softer substitutes for people with sensitive teeth or those looking for environmentally friendly options, and they frequently contain plant-based components.
Preventive Measures for Maintaining Whiteness
Achieving a bright smile is not just about treatment; it also involves preventive care:
Dietary Choices
Over time, some foods and drinks can discolor teeth. Whiteness can be preserved by consuming less red wine, tea, coffee, and dark berries. Using a straw or washing your lips after drinking these things can help reduce stains.
Good Oral Hygiene
Regular brushing and flossing are essential for removing plaque and preventing stains. Using toothpaste with baking soda or activated charcoal can further enhance stain removal while promoting overall dental health.
Regular Dental Check-Ups
Professional cleanings that eliminate surface stains and tartar accumulation are made possible by routine visits to Kakkar Dental Clinic. Additionally, our dentists can offer tailored guidance on how to keep your smile looking its best.

NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH
Tumblr media
Nutritional education should be the first one among the educational topics taught to children. Decrease in the amount of food and the nutritional absorption of food can result in malnutrition among children. Not only the parents but also the children need to be aware and conscious about the foods that they should consume and the quantity of food required for their age and weight.
The National Nutrition Week has a purpose of creating awareness and spreading knowledge about the importance of nutritious food to the human body. For good health, satisfying nutritional needs of your body is highly essential. Not only humans but animals also require proper nutrition to grow and perform their bodily functions properly.  If somebody is a workout freak or remains consumed in his mental and physical office work and needs more than the supplied nutrition to the body; he can turn weak.
National nutrition week has its theme each year. The theme for the year 2017 was ‘Optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health’. For the year 2018, the theme for nutritional week was ‘Go further with food’. The campaign of National Nutrition Week was started in the year 1982 by the central government of India to encourage good health and healthy living through nutrition education as malnutrition is the main obstruction to national development. Keeping this in mind, let us discuss the ways through which we can increase our nutritional intake and absorption:
Consume Plant-Based Foods: Plant based food is easily digestible and keeps your bowel movement functioning properly. Adding vegetables and fruits to your meals and snacks can soothe your digestive tract. Specific plant based food can be beneficial in cases of many diseases. E.g. fruits like apple, blueberries, cherries, jamun or black plum or Indian blueberry, pear and guava have strong positive links with managing diabetes.  If you talk about calcium supplements; plant- based calcium supplements are absorbed way better than artificial calcium supplements. Artificial chemical calcium supplements do more harm than good and can lead to formation of kidney stones and deposition on bones which may lead to small bony outgrowths. Plant-based calcium supplements can be found in hadjod, sahijana, Ashwagandha which have been blended with curcumin in Bonboost Tablets which are the one among the best Ayurvedic products online in Delhi and world.
Ensure Nutrition Education in School: Schools should also make an effort to teach children the importance of good diet and nutritional needs of their bodies. Teachers and the nutritional staff at school need to be really creative as gaining attention of children on a certain topic is highly difficult. And next difficult thing is making kids abide by healthy diet plans. Demonstrate good foods to kids in a pictorial way to make them understand and remember the same. You can also use new ideas to show kids what bad nutrition and excessive fast food consumption can make them look like. Once kids get in their mind the need to consume healthy and nutritious food; they can automatically make their parents cook nutritious food. School nutrition staff can also suggest ways to cook nutritious and interesting food at the same time so that kids can eat healthy food happily. Parents and teachers can make combined efforts to teach children to read nutritional label on each product they purchase from the market.
Use Minimum Amount of Fats While Cooking: One should also take care that vegetables are cooked in minimum possible amount of oil. Use oils which promote the good or HDL cholesterol and have very low amount of LDL or bad cholesterol so that good health of whole family can be promoted. Parents while cooking should include their kids in the process of cooking. Making your kids see the process helps them understand the efforts required to make nutritious food. They will never leave their foods in their plates once they understand the efforts that are put to get the food on their plates. Try to bake foods which can be baked instead of frying. If you consume meat; bake, grill or boil it instead of frying it.
Good Nutrition is Incomplete Without Proper Hydration: Drink zero calorie or low calorie liquids to keep the hydration status of your body up to the mark. Drink water and consume herbal curcumin teas which not only help in quenching your thirst but also have various health benefits. Avoid sweetened drinks, soda, and flavoured milk, sweetened iced tea as they contain a lot of calories and do no or little good. In fact, the calories in them increase your weight.
Tumblr media
Maintain a Balanced Diet: Each and every nutrient is important for good health including good fats. Fibre found in healthy foods including vegetables, fruits, beans and whole grains can help in having normal bowel movements. Also, if you are suffering from any kind of disease; take your diet accordingly which satisfy your nutritional needs. You can use best ayurvedic products online in delhi and world which are made of herbs and curcumin and help to manage your disease.
Minimize Distraction While Consuming Food: Television, computer and mobile phones are easy distractions while eating. You may consume more than required while watching television or you may end up with half filled stomach in a hurry to play your favourite game on the smart phone or in order to chat with someone. You can become overweight or malnourished. Even when you drink an ayurvedic tea in your tea time; drink it peacefully so that you can enjoy each of the ingredients present in the Ayurvedic tea.
Experiment With Your Food to Make it Healthier: Certain foods are amazingly nutritious when taken in combination.  Certain combinations of foods can deteriorate your health. Be aware of foods which are good in combination. Make your tea time healthier with herbal curcumin tea. While the government is doing its part by promoting nutrition education at various forms, we should also play our roles in maintain our and our family’s nutrition intake.

·Garden pests can also give you a headache if you’re a nature loving person. Mix a little tobacco with the soil to keep them away or you can use tobacco water as a pesticide to keep your plants natural and pest free.
·Although, most of the spiders that are present in our homes are harmless but still they make your house look dirty with their webs. Spiders are reluctant to strong smell, so you can make some natural mixtures that have a strong smell to keep the spiders away.
·Ants can be very annoying; they can appear from anywhere to destroy your food products. You cannot kill all the ants, but you can definitely make your house less attractive to them. As a fact, ants hate cinnamon so putting cinnamon powder on their entrances can do a great job.
However, these remedies can only provide a temporary solution for your pests and they might come back after some time. If you want a permanent solution for the pests in your home, shops or offices, contact Pest Control Delhi. We have the best herbal products for the pest control treatment that are very effective and safe for use.

year of the wildflower
I can’t believe it’s fucking February and I have yet to sit down and reflect on the end of yet another year. 2018.
Two Thousand and Eighteen.
What a glorious, glorious year you were for me. (It was the ten-year anniversary of 2008 after all, so I probably should have seen that one coming. Hindsight is a fickle beast I’ve yet to learn to tame.)
I started the year off with a lot of newness—preparing to move out of my apartment of seven years, for example.
Though I knew it was time for a new beginning, the months leading up to this move were hard for me. I felt like I was separating myself from some former version of myself; a hermit crab shedding her proverbial shell.
The moment we found Hoegarden, however, I knew it was the right choice.
Only four blocks up the street (a six-minute walk; I timed it) from my old place, it felt like the comfort of home laced with the thrill of a new start.
And so, I packed.
I purged.
And the week before I moved, I flew to India. (I am nothing if not wildly ridiculous at a seemingly predictable rate: life change? Leave the fucking country!)
I have been talking about going to India obsessively since the eleventh grade (I had learned about Holi and became obsessed with Eastern culture quickly after.)
Though I paraded around with arrogance, I was quite intimidated to plan this trip. It was something I don’t think I realized was happening until we had landed, disembarked, and had been rushed into the chaotic Delhi streets at midnight before it really hit me—that I was here, and I couldn’t be afraid.
So, I wasn’t.
I had only one bad experience that night, and I handled it—I learned to say no. As an American, millennial, feminist, I thought this was something I was already good at.
Turns out, I was not.
But I got better. And by the end of my trip, I felt so completely safe, so enamored by the sights, the smells (rich dirt moist with the smell of sweat, the sultry scent of saffron, sweetened candy from the streets…curry!) that I was sad my time was over so soon.
This trip prepared me for Morocco—the adult I had to be, the sticky situations I had to diffuse, middle eastern culture. I wandered those golden, enchanted markets thirsty for authenticity, and I always seemed to find it, for better or for worse.
There was lots of yelling. Lots of jetlag. And lots of running for flights.
But between these two trips, these two monumental events in my life, I walked away and felt growth. I felt proud of where I’d gone and what I’d seen. And that, though I was accompanied by friends (and oh, the friends we made!) I had accomplished this feat mostly alone, planning and ultimately orchestrating both trips by my lonesome, endlessly researching cultural customs, Indian cuisines and transport, Ramadan rules (because we were in Morocco during the holiday) and I had fucking succeeded.
I flew again to London (London, London, London, alwaysLondon) and Scotland and finished up my year by going to Australia.
Five continents in one year.
I spent an entire day running around Jaipur, my phone almost being stolen by a monkey, and I tried to get an Uber in a place where elephants are considered vehicles and you can order a tuk-tuk via the app.
I bathed, fed, and walked a rescued elephant—Chin Chin—and felt her two-ton belly swollen with babies (twins!) as she made me laugh by playing with my hair and squirting water on my head when I wasn’t playing with her.
I was welcomed into the home of strangers and fed a home cooked meal; the best I had in all of India.
I made friends with the soda-shop boys near our palace of an Airbnb and left them with all of my change upon leaving the country. (This would leave me completely screwed at the airport where the vendors did not accept credit cards, but alas—who am I if not starving and stressed about non-reving out of another country?)
I woke up at four in the morning and rode all the way to Agra to bask in the wonderful Taj Mahal. I dipped my toes in it’s gorgeous lakes and dreamt of a love so big someone would construct a monument to celebrate it someday that would put this silly marble slab of stone to shame.
I returned to Spain and wandered the streets of Barcelona and Madrid like a pro; how quickly three years had passed, how recently it seemed upon returning.
We flew down to Morocco and booked a famous riad with a driver and were escorted through the airport like queens (gluttons, really.) We wandered the many rooms of our new home excitedly, pretending to be princesses and bursting into wine-induced fits of laughter when the first Ramadan calls came over the loudspeaker and bellowing down into our open-aired fortress.
We wandered the gardens of Yves Saint Laurent and I impressed Lauren and Beebs with my correct pronunciation of the designer’s name (thanks, Cardi.)
We took a horse drawn carriage through Marrakech and were swindled by henna artists in the streets (it was still worth it.)
We boarded a ten-passenger caravan and took a trek that took us through the northern African mountains, the many small villages and ruins, learned about the art of rug making and sipped on delicious mint tea.
And then I was proposed to. His name was Watik. Once again, I said no. Albeit a more forceful one.
We drove directly into a sand storm and learned how to adorn our heads with a “passport to the desert” to protect us from the harsh conditions.
And then we rode camels through the fucking Sahara Desert.
We camped in giant rooms and dined under the stars (the most delicious of the tangines we had, though it’s honestly hard to pick) and listened to our guides play African drums under the moonlight.
And then we went adventuring into the night.
I remember climbing to the top of a dune, digging my toes deeper into the sand and being amazed at how bright the moonlight shone over the dessert sands.
(We watched the sunrise in the morning, and I was equally in awe of nature’s subtle beauty.)
We wandered the ancient city of Fes with our newly married friends and took in the smells of sweet mint leaf and the curing of animal hyde in the tanneries.
I took a few weeks off traveling and fucking prepared for what would be my mother’s first trip abroad: The UK.
I got to see the excitement fill her eyes upon seeing the London skyline, see some adolescent excitement light up in her upon taking her to her first protest (baby Trump riot—yes, it was as amazing as it looked on television) and watched her fall in love with old, ancient English streets, the ones I’ve loved for so many years, watch her accept my longing, my desire to make this my home, as she fell completely head over heels in love with it, too.
I drank violet gin and watched bagpipers play in the street and climbed to the highest part of Edinburgh just so I could turn around and look down at it in awe.
I watched Paul Simon say farewell, with another 500,000 fans in the royal gardens and wept with emotion when he opened his set with “America.”
I came back and saw Paramore with my strawberry, I saw St. Vincent in all her glory, Twin Peaks and First Aid Kit and even flew to Denver to see Ryan Adams play Red Rocks.
I stressed, a lot.
And yet somehow always made it through.
I celebrated my Dad’s sixtieth birthday and got to finally show him around Chicago, my home, and watch as he pieced together a new aspect of me he never seemed to understand before.
I flew to Denver to meet up with my best friend for a road trip to Salt Lake to see Panic. We cuddled and laughed and jammed and danced under the stars in beautiful Big Sky.
And then there was Australia. Rainy, jungle-esque Australia.
Noodle night in the muddy park and Aussie pizza (twice, because it really was that spectacular.)
Twin Peaks at an abandoned skate-house and teenagers blacking out around us.
Ferry rides hopped up on Nyquil. Books read in cafes.
Beautiful, beautiful Melbourne.
Lauren laughing at me because of fear of all the various vicious birds we encountered. My allergies through the roof, throat closing in the royal gardens.
Not one single fucking kangaroo.
There was San Francisco and fleet week and the Mystic Valley Band at a winery in Sonoma. (The most beautiful sunset I’d ever seen—and that wine!)
I left the country so many times this year with no more than pennies to my name, no place to stay when I landed, nothing but an inspiration and the courage to make myself show up for a flight.
I took myself to the Opera and felt bougie for sipping on black coffee the entire time and sitting alone.
I relaxed.
I found myself hiding away in my new home, no school to attend (because again, I fucking GRADUATED COLLEGE) and no trips to take and I felt peace.
An old friend came to town and I met up with him for drinks and now Taylor is my boyfriend.
Me; a boyfriend.
Me; in love.
I held his hand at Chriskindel market and consoled him after an eventful first Thanksgiving together. I rubbed my hands through his luscious hair and kissed his forehead where the small patch of gray grows in with the eager fervor of old age. (My old man.)
I let him love me, all of me, and sat back in amazement as I lowered my walls, my protection, and let this one man weasel his way through the booby traps I had planted long before.
(He detonated them all.)
I watched, silently—though often times conflicted—as the light in his eyes grew familiar, listened as his sweet, humble snoring cooed me to sleep.
I fell in love.
And through all of the fantastic adventures 2018 took me, through every corner of the world, I did not know that what I had been looking for all along was him. My love, my prince, my sweet, sincere, annoying, handsome, smart, idiot, adorable boyfriend Taylor.
And now I feel so whole.
2018 was a big year for me—in every way imaginable. I even started grad school (I’m a masochist, I must be). But it was the last year I would be in my twenties.
In February, I turned twenty-nine and began preparing myself for the start of a new decade. I felt unaccomplished and somehow proud of what I’d done—scared yet eager to grow older.
Weeks before my birthday, I marched proudly with thousands of others through the streets of my home, my city, protesting our asshat of a president and the suppression of women’s rights. I remember walking through the streets, sign in hand, feeling like a fully actualized version of myself; I was finally the person I had always wanted to be.
It just took me longer than I had expected to get there.
My twenties were a tumultuous time (something eerily familiar about the terrible two’s, no?)
Where I lost myself and tried on new versions of myself for extended periods of time.
I dropped out of college and worked three jobs.
I moved cross-country with my best friend to live in a big city like I had always wanted to.
I became a flight attendant.
I went back to college and graduated. Then I got into fucking grad school.
I fell in love with four boys: the first, my first. The truest, the purest; a complete and total heartbreak. The second, from afar—that spark, that magnetism—now a friend engaged himself, and I couldn’t be happier for him and his wife-to-be. The third, my German—a wrong fit I tried so desperately to squish into all of my open, healing wounds. And the fourth, my love—my Taylor. My partner.
I slept with some awful people (two; M & T).
And kissed plenty more.
I lost friends I thought I’d never lose and met friends I thought I’d never have.
I discovered what it is to be broke.
Brutally, honestly, broke.
And yet I traveled.
I visited fifteen countries in those ten years and did it all on my own terms. I saw Stonehenge, the Sahara, the Taj Ma-Fucking-Hal, went to Oktoberfest, played Sega in Japan and even saw Alex Turner a whopping four times in one decade. (What a facetious little man.)
I cried in bathroom stalls and did coke in bathroom stalls and danced so much I felt invincible and once upon a time even owned the streets of Ybor.
I did acid on tinder dates and even dated a girl, my only girl, my Kelli.
I watched as my sister got engaged and our little family grew by one.
I lost my Cody, my baby, and felt his spirit in a haunted hotel in South Dakota (hi, baby.)
I wandered many foreign streets and stumbled my way through foreign languages and ordered foreign food I couldn’t pronounce the name of and didn’t like the taste of.
I went to so many concerts I’ll probably be deaf, and probably soon.
I was so surrounded by love and so alone at times I silently cried myself to sleep in a new city.
I cut off my hair, got six tattoos and went to so many different music festivals.
I was wild; I was timid. I was fierce; I was afraid. I was whole; I felt alone.
(Walt Whitman isn’t the only one who can contain multitudes.)

Cleaning Tips This Diwali: Why Use Air Purifier This Festive Season
Diwali comes with its cleaning rituals. Every corner of the house needs to be squeaky clean, to usher in good luck and prosperity. However, if you are not a big fan of cleaning, and freak out looking at the mess at home, we have all the tips ready for you.
The Diwali Countdown Begins so does your Cleaning Schedule
Come Diwali and the houses are filled with guests, which is the reason why you need to pay special attention to the cleaning process. So, to help you out, here are some tips to make your cleaning tasks easy.
Make sure the indoor air is clean: Many of us are allergic to dust, dirt and as a result may suffer from asthma attacks or allergies during the cleaning process. The dirt and dust that settle on the carpets, sofas, and beds loosen up during the cleaning process. This may trigger allergic reactions and breathing problems. This is the reason why it is a necessity to have an air purifier, especially during the festive season.
Organize your wardrobe: Dispose of the clothes that are lying idle in your closet for a long time. The clothes that you don’t wear are a safe haven for pests and dust mites. This is the reason why it is advisable to organize the wardrobe every festive season.
Done with wardrobe cleaning? Pay heed to the stuffed bed box: Some of the common items that we generally neglect is cleaning the bed box. Keep the blankets, mattresses, pillows and other stuff that is stored in the bed box out in the sun to remove dust-mites and germs.
Figure out what needs to be washed or dry cleaned: If you have not yet started with the cleaning of your linens and curtains, we suggest you take some professional help. Give your carpets, curtains and bed sheets for cleaning weeks in advance, as the rush at the cleaner’s store is bound to increase with each nearing day of Diwali.
Remove the cobwebs: The corners of the house have a lot of cobwebs. It’s time to wipe them out of the door. From behind the wardrobe to under the bed, cobwebs can be found anywhere. Put a mask on your nose and start with your mission against cobwebs.
Take help of professional cleaners for pest control: Cockroaches, bugs, insects need to be removed with the help of professional cleaners. Make it a point that you call them in advance, as you are likely to get even more busy with Diwali preparations in the coming days.
When just a week left, time to speed up
Diwali is just around the corner, and so you need to take your prep up game a notch higher. Make sure you receive everything that was given for the dry clean or regular wash to avoid running around at the last minute. Here’s the checklist.
Clean your appliances: You also need to clean the home appliances such as television, refrigerator, water purifier, washing machine, microwave during the festive season. Use a good vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from their surface using a clean, dry cloth, and then, wash the stain by using a cleansing spray. Do read the respective manuals beforehand to avoid any damage to their delicate parts.
Take on the task of kitchen cleaning: Say no to vinegar, baking soda and dish-washing soap this year, and try an efficient kitchen cleaning spray. It will relieve you of the effort that goes in rubbing oil stains off the kitchen slab and tiles. For cleaning the kitchen floor, you can use any floor cleaning spray or liquid.
Make sure the bathroom is spotlessly clean: The mirror and wash basin are some of the things in the bathroom that need proper cleaning and attention. Don’t forget to clean these important areas during the festive season amid the excitement of Diwali.
Renovate the garden area: Paint the flower pots that are losing the sheen with time. Un-earthen drying plants, mow the lawn and trim the hedges. These things will add a fresh touch to the outer space of your house. In the last two days, focus more on decoration.
So, why do you need an Air Purifier?
The question that many people have in their minds is why do you need an air purifier during the festive season.  Diwali is not only the time to enjoy a good time with your friends and family, but it is also the time when the pollution level is at a peak. Every year, the air quality in the whole of North India, especially Delhi and NCR reaches an alarming level, thanks to the excessive smog. The extremely high levels of PM 2.5, PM 10 and other pollutants lead to a number of respiratory problems among people of all age groups. While most of us pay a lot of attention to outdoor pollution, we hardly give a second thought to the quality of indoor air that we breathe.
Considering the grim situation, air purifiers are a necessity and not a luxury during the festive season, especially if you have children at home. Air purifiers from renowned brands such as KENT come with advanced HEPA technology which effectively catches and traps PM 2.5 dust particles so that you breathe safely. Some of the air purifiers also come with an air quality monitor that you can keep a check on the air quality on a real-time basis.
Last Few Words
So, what are you waiting for? Follow the tips mentioned above to start your festive cleaning without any hassle. Don’t forget to bring home an air purifier to enjoy a safe and pollution-free festive season. To find the right air purifier for your home, click here.

A glass apart: Rs 65 lakh for a litre of water
A glass apart: Rs 65 lakh for a litre of water
Mohit Bhatia, Prerna Bhatia and Ashish Bhatia of Malaki. In a month since its soft launch in India, the company has sold 3,000 units of its gold water
India is opening up to the luxe version of the humblest of drinks—water
Would you pay ₹65 lakh for a single litre of water?
American company Beverly Hills is set to introduce India to its uber-luxe brand of water—the Beverly Hills 9OH2O Luxury Collection, Diamond Edition. Designed by Mario Padilla, jeweller to Hollywood stars, each limited-edition bottle features a white-gold cap, set with more than 600 G/VS-grade white diamonds and about 250 black diamonds.
The bottle comes encased in a custom box set, complete with four engraved Baccarat crystal tumblers. “Beverly Hills 9OH2O is superior spring water from the California mountains and the first ever water product to capture the best of everything: Taste, health, design, and experience,” says Martin Riese, a leading global water sommelier and part of Beverly Hills 9OH2O’s team of experts. “Its exquisite design is made of the highest quality material and captures the classic elegance and glimmering vitality of Beverly Hills, California. We’re looking for new distribution partners and would love to come to India.”
The company is headquartered in Beverly Hills, California, and aims to launch in India later this year.
Beverly Hills isn’t the only one toasting to the country’s new-fangled want for a stylish sip. A market once dominated by Evian and Perrier is now seeing a pulse of activity. Mumbai-based Malaki, a retailer for gourmet food and beverages (F&B), had a soft launch for the Malaki Luxury Water—which comes swimming in edible 24-karat gold flakes—in May. In November 2017, IRIIS Food, an e-store for premium F&B imports, introduced a natural, black-coloured water. Blk, a Los Angeles-based product, comes pumped with fulvic minerals and antioxidants that turn the water naturally dark and alkaline, giving it various healthy properties.
An older entrant is Finnish water brand Veen, which has been in India since 2014. Packaged in swanky glass bottles, the brand has partnered with most major hotel chains and many premium restaurants across the country, making India its largest global market.
According to market research firm Mintel, the Indian market for packaged drinking water was valued at ₹87.86 billion in 2017 and is estimated to reach ₹109.84 billion in 2018. Bottled water in India grew at 19 percent between 2016 and 2017—outpacing all other global markets.
There’s an increased willingness among consumers to pay for premium bottled water, says Alex Beckett, associate director, food and drink, at Mintel. “India has a fragmented and comparatively unregulated bottled water market, but big, global companies appear keen to expand their presence in the country.”
While a 500-ml bottle of Bisleri costs ₹10, prices for premium water can go up to ₹300 for the same quantity. The gold-infused Malaki water retails at ₹599 for 375 ml.
Pots of gold
In a month since its soft launch, Malaki has sold 3,000 units of its gold water, retailed exclusively at Mumbai and Delhi’s international airports. In August, the product will see a full-fledged launch and will be available for retail, at fine-dine establishments.
“In the olden days, people used to put water in gold canisters to derive health benefits,” says Ashish Bhatia, founder of Malaki. “This is a modern extension of that philosophy, and we’re the first Asian brand to introduce such a product.”
The 24-karat edible gold flakes are imported from Dubai, where Malaki has a head office, but the water is bottled in Mumbai. The liquid is purified and neutralised in the city.
Gold-charged water is said to help with asthma, arthritis and skin ailments, and increase stamina and relaxation. “It has several benefits,” says Bhatia. “It makes for a great gift, especially for those who do not consume alcohol.”
The idea came after Malaki tasted success with some of its bestselling products, a range of luxury teas. “Tea is the second-most consumed beverage in India—the first is water,” says Bhatia. “We were keen to enter the water market, but not in a run-of-the-mill fashion. That’s how the luxury gold water was born.”
Malaki will soon also introduce a variety of alkaline water. Two new variants are at the research stage, including hydrogen water.
Dikshit Jhanb, director of Blk in India, admits that the brand’s premium alkaline water product is for fit and rich people
The Dark Side
According to Dikshit Jhanb, director of Blk in India, many health concerns, especially in India, stem from poor digestion. “Diseases are more likely to occur in bodies that are acidic. Cancers spread quicker in such an environment too,” says Jhanb. “Indian food is inherently oily and acid-inducing, so we were keen to introduce alkaline water in the country.”
Blk is a premium alkaline water brand sourced from Los Angeles. It is available in 17 international markets.
While regular drinking water has a pH level that hovers around 6 that of Blk water is 8.8+, making it alkaline. A pH of 7 is considered neutral.
It is naturally black; the liquid looks like a cola, but tastes just like regular water. Purified alkaline water forms the base of Blk, sourced from multiple locales, including springs and aquifiers in the US and Canada. This water is alkaline at the source and flows through plant roots that contain fulvic minerals. These minerals give it its dark shade. Blk water contains 77 naturally-occurring trace minerals, trace elements, amino acids and electrolytes. No additional dyes or colours are added in the water.
A 500-ml bottle of the black water is priced at ₹260. “To be honest, it is a product for fit people and rich people,” says Jhanb. “However, a bottle of Blk in London costs £3.30 (approximately ₹300), so it is cheaper in India.”
Blk has been spotted with stars such as Kendall Jenner and Paris Hilton. In India, it’s been endorsed by Indian skipper Virat Kohli, actors Aayush Sharma and Ronit Roy, among others. It retails at the Hyatt hotels, at premium food stores such as Foodhall and at the Delhi and Mumbai airports.
“The response has been tremendous; we have more than 80 customers who subscribe to Blk for home delivery every day,” says Jhanb. “The biggest challenge has been to create awareness about the benefits of going alkaline, and getting people used to the colour of the water.”
Alkaline water, he adds, is not a replacement for regular water; adding one bottle of it a day can help reverse acidity.
Malaki will also introduce an alkaline water soon, with a proposed pH of up to 9.5. This water will be sourced from the Brahmaputra river originating at the Angsi Glacier located in Tibet and flowing into Assam, where the company has a processing plant. The water is made alkaline by passing it through a mineral bed and having it undergo the process of ionisation. “Alkaline speeds up the hydration process,” says Bhatia.
Bhatia’s sister and Malaki’s marketing director Prerna Bhatia, a yoga teacher, encountered alkaline water while travelling. “A friend suggested it and I noticed it helped me last longer during a workout and feel less sore,” she says. “We decided we must introduce it in India.”
Malaki’s alkaline water will be priced at ₹60 for a 500-ml bottle and ₹40 for the same on the subscription plan. It is likely to launch in August.
Veen is nicknamed the ‘Michelin-star water’, says its India sales head, Ganesh Iyer
Bottles Up
Veen is a Finnish brand that is majority-owned by an Indian, Aman Gupta, based out of Munich. It entered India in 2014 to fill the market gap for premium-packaged glass bottles. “Plastic will never look as classy as glass does,” says Ganesh Iyer, sales head for Veen in India.
Veen, he says, is nicknamed the ‘Michelin-star water’ since it is served at a host of Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. “Aside from the visual difference, glass is much safer to use than plastic and can be easily recycled and reused. Moreover, water doesn’t react with glass in heat or humidity as it does with plastic,” he says.
The liquid is heavy mineral water sourced in Bhutan. “Bhutan is the world’s first carbon-negative country, so the water is absolutely pristine,” he adds. “Most water available in India is from the Himalayan belt, with few differentiators. Many varieties sourced from Himachal Pradesh, for instance, have high nitrate values because of the growing number of factories around.”
Growing at 53 percent year-on-year and present in 38 cities, India is now Veen’s largest global market. “In the West, where local tap water is clean, people are unwilling to pay for water. In China, there’s a lot of competition from other brands with deep pockets,” Iyer says. “The route to market in India is difficult, but once you’re in, you have a ready audience. Moreover, coming to India from our plant in Bhutan is easier than going to China.”
A 660-ml bottle of Veen still water is priced at ₹350 while sparkling is ₹450. Hotels can mark up the prices slightly.
In six to 10 months, Veen is likely to launch a range of craft mixers—ginger ale, bitter lemon, club soda and tonic water—along with a line of ayurveda waters, enhanced with amla, ginger and turmeric. These products are already available in Veen’s other markets.
Testing the Waters
“Some of the differentiators such as 24K gold tap into existing belief systems like ayurveda, so consumer trial might be high,” says Kiran Khalap, co-founder and managing director of marketing agency Chlorophyll. “In economies like ours, existing products often get repurposed into luxury items and cater to those who have no avenues left to splurge on. I remember paan being sold for ₹450 in Nagpur.”
The packaging may be the invitation card, he adds, but the proof will be the product itself.
“There is some scientific base to this, but more research is needed,” says Anjali Mukherjee, nutritionist and founder-director, Health Total. “Alkaline water, for instance, is desirable—rich in minerals and oxygen; it may help expedite their journey towards better health and support in removing toxic waste. However, a body’s acidity is due to various factors. Lifestyle diseases are complex and no single product can easily fix them.”

Want To Know The Secret Behind A Good Cup Of Coffee? Read On!
Which store do you buy coffee in? Some people acquire a taste for coffee later in life, so you might be unfamiliar with the giant world of coffee. You should look into your possibilities before you decide what type of coffee to buy. Read on to learn more about what your coffee options are. A little coffee can be healthy. How you prepare your coffee makes a big difference; cream and sugar are generally not ideal. To make it healthier, try using almond milk, honey, or stevia instead of your normal coffee additions. An air-tight container is a must if you buy your coffee in bulk. If your beans get exposed to a lot of air, they'll go stale and result in poor-tasting coffee. Avoid using those square bags with one-way valves since they will not be airtight after their seal is broken. Their reason for being is to allow air to escape after the beans have been roasted. Pesticide free coffee should be the only type of coffee you buy. Among all crops, coffee is one of the most absorbent. Its flavor is largely derived from the dirt it grew in. Coffee that is grown organically has a nice natural taste. There are many types of coffee you can choose from. Dark roast provides a fuller flavor while lighter roasts provide a milder, smoother flavor. There are also flavored coffees, including raspberry and hazelnut. Most folks will add flavored creamers to their coffee rather than buying coffee that is already flavored. If you are a fan of iced coffee, try making some coffee, then chilling it in the refrigerator overnight. In this way, you can have cold coffee that has not been watered down after being poured over ice. Add the milk and sugar before you chill it. This will help you get the perfect cup of iced coffee for the morning. Brew a plain pot of water before brewing your coffee to get the ideal performance out of an old coffee machine. When the water had reached boiling, introduce the grounds and then return the water to the machine. You will have the hottest water that will make the best coffee. To get more from bulk coffee purchases, protect the beans. Fresh beans have a tendency to absorb other flavors as well as to lose their own flavor when exposed to light or heat. Thus, it is important to keep beans in air-tight containers that are opaque. You can froth milk without a high-powered machine to save time and money. Put a microwave-safe coffee mug in the microwave. Alternatively, you could use a measuring cup. Put a whisk inside the cup, then rub quickly the handle between the palms of your hands. When it is foamy, you are done. Whole milk works well, but you can also use 2 percent as well as half-and half with equally good results. If you want iced coffee, don't just pour coffee over ice cubes. This results in a watery drink. Rather, brew your coffee and pour it into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, just remove them and let them melt. If you can't get the flavor you want from one brew, try mixing brews. Either experiment with mixing beans on your own, or visit a coffee shop where a barista can help you choose the blend that is best suited to your taste. You are not limited to local ground coffee. There are several types including gourmet whole coffee beans from other countries. You can go to a store or buy it online. No matter what sort of coffee you enjoy, it is available. Remember what you've learned here, and you'll make great coffee choices.
