#birdenest#the big social vespids can be pissy about their territory but can be acclimated to your presence if you're intentional about it...#and they eat caterpillars like mad#but polistes paperwasps are very chill and easy to befriend and also eat caterpillar! and parasitic wasps of all sizes are very cute 🥰🥰#and they eat aphids caterpillars mealybugs whiteflies beetles mealworms earwigs.........#plus also they are all pollinators. and also all cute :)

ANYWAYS i love. bugs. they are all just little guys and i like to stare at them + i think if ur able you should also stare at bugs. 10/10 little creatures
#jackals barks#we have two (2!) different types of paper wasps but the yellow ones are the ones i see most often#bc im unsure where the red ones nest (the roof maybe?)#theyre extremely social AND pollinate AND feed on caterpillars to keep the population down#an they're just Cute........i love to watch them clean their antenna and legs ;w; they're so Dainty with it#it also doesn't take very many trips 4 them to get used to you!#ive gotten to the point where even the new nests will acclimate very fast + if i sit outside they dont do threat displays + sometimes come#to investigate and see what *im* up to#like yes ofc it is bad to anthropomorphize animals but <3 i like to still think we're Friends

just sat here like "wait it's nearly midnight... what have I actually done today" and remembering that what I have done is clean the caterpillar jars, feed the caterpillars, hold the caterpillars, take photos and videos of the caterpillars, and talk about the caterpillars.
I also got showered at one point but like other than that... caterpillar 🐛🐛🐛

In other other news, I was yearning for my fish science days recently so I set up a planted freshwater tank, small just 10 gallons due to apartment restrictions, but I put shrimp in it once it was thoroughly cycled and I've already spotted baby shrimps.
The tank:
The babies (ft. Some adult shrimps):
#that red and white large shrimp is the most social one he's constantly out and about#I have a gray one a jet black one a yellow one a black and blue one two black and white ones and a brown one as well#so far six baby shrimps have been spotted but they're absolutely tiny so I'm sure there's more#shrimp? you ask. don't you also have rats?#yes and I also raise caterpillars when the season comes. I'm incapable of keeping normal pets. I must have the creatures#msc230#shrimp#aquascaping#neocaridina#one of them also molted today so that was really cool to see. late to work everyday because I always get mesmerized by the shimps
