I appreciate so so much that Maomao continues to visit Xiaolan after she's transferred to the Jade palace. It would've been so easy from a narrative stand-point to just have Maomao go "Man good riddance" about her chatty barely-friend from "back then", but no.

Not only does she continue to speak to Xiaolan, she uses her as an informant of sorts, because Maomao recognizes just how much a person like Xiaolan helps on that front. And she's reoccuring and not forgotten by Maomao Or the narrative as a whole!

Also, Miku is young and thus would probably not have gotten the full goldhaube yet, but instead a smaller golden cap meant for teens and young adults. There is of course also a smaller cap even for tiny little ones bc it's cute. Both in gold though.

The first image is from what I gathered from illustrations around the 1890s, the second is closer to what my grandma wears for church processions on holidays, like Easter etc. It's a very shiny black fabric, and the umbrella has the same one. The dress being this short is not a thing anymore, my grandma's dress is almost floor length, but it was in all the old illustrations I found!

sometimes i get bored and scroll up to read old discord messages and sometimes i find my very own late night rambles. i found one just now and its amazed me.

like if your favorite is misty then you probably try your whole life to fit in and be included yet find yourself alone each time because people can't handle your strong personality and traits that others may find strange. all you want is to have people who appreciate you but find yourself putting more into your relationships than others do for you. it feels like your efforts go unnoticed- or that people have already made their assumptions about you that refuse to change no matter the actions you take.

or if your favorite is tai then you battle yourself constantly against two warring sides, never knowing which one will take over and you worry about what you do when the bad part of you is provoked. you feel guilty for it but the swings are out of your control, your actions spontaneous. only after do you feel the effects but you're powerless to stop them- a victim of your own mind.

or if it's nat then you spend your whole life trying to find your place in the world and fall short each time. all you long for is to be happy and yet it slips your grasp time and time again. you have a strong moral compass that terrifies others because it makes them think about their own moral shortcomings. in the face of adversity you still fight your hardest because nobody else has ever fought for you so you have to do it yourself. you use things like substances to help you cope and give you reprieve from the bad parts of your life but it doesn't make you feel good- not anymore.

or van- you are fiercely loyal to the ones you love and the actions you've taken to protect them haunt you sometimes but you don't regret it because they're safe because of you. you're stuck in the past and don't know how to move on, collecting items and memories from a time when things were better.

or lottie- you find yourself lost in what's real and what's a false reality to help you cope with your actions, give them some higher meaning. you struggle with yourself over whether you're truly doing good or if it's all a mirage. you've done some unjustifiable things but meet your shortcomings with grace and a hope that you can do better, help others in the way you wish you were helped. also you might be medicated (same though)

even shauna- your anger consumes you. it scares you sometimes how angry you are but no actions are taken to change yourself. you find yourself falling into old habits and trying to fit in but it never feels like enough. you pay little mind to how your actions affect others but there's still a part of you that longs for connection, and for things lost that you can never recover. the past haunts you and propels your actions and you feel powerless to the onslaught that comes with being provoked but you also often revel in your steadfastness. you find yourself longing for more out of life but you're not sure what that "more" really is.

all of the characters are so different and have such different journeys that it truly is telling who you are based on the character you feel most connected to.

The Cause and Effect of Stolas' actions throughout the show. This is mostly for peeps who claim he never gets consequences. - Stolas being playfully sexy (in his head) turns out to be degrading. Leading to Blitz pulling away, feeding his preconceived notion that Stolas is just a kinky royal prick who wants to feel "dirty". Stolas' attempts at bonding and spending time with him is forever tainted by this and in Ozzie's this is brought to light. It also has further effect up until Apology Tour. (Sure, Blitz has his fair share of issues that also leads to this but part of it is because of those instances when Stolas acted in a way that fit Blitz' view of him). Stolas is continuously hurt by this.. which is why he's so scared of giving Blitz the crystal. Also starting their relationship as a transaction didn't really lay down good groundwork either. - Openly flirting with your new fling while still married and in front of your daughter.. being continuously neglectful towards her despite not meaning to. Leading to several instances in which Octavia feels replaced and forgotten. We see this several different times when Octavia is in an episode. And even though they kinda made up, it kept happening and eventually Octavia pulled away completely in Sinsmas. (Seeing stars was more cus of the divorce and all but they're all tied and shit) With this I'd like to include a thing he did that he thought was for the best but still bit him in the ass. - Shielding your daughter from the mess of your family and circumstances of her birth, your mental health and relationship with her mother. This was all in good faith.. He wanted her to have a better life than he had. To be able to be a kid and be loved. But.. it still gave him consequences in him looking like the ultimate shithead when he tried to chase his own happiness for once in his life. For Stolas, being w. Blitz and asking for a divorce was long overdue and good things for him. For Octavia it looked like a selfish dick who wanted to run away from his family. Not being open with her made him look like the ultimate bad guy. Speaking of Cheating. While Stella's treatment of Stolas is NOT justified (I get that she's in a shitty situation but it wasn't Stolas fault and choosing to take it out on him makes her shitty still). Him cheating on her with an imp of all creatures led to her treatment of him to escalate. It seems like she at least kept most ill treatment behind closed doors before since Octavia seems to correlate her behaviour to Stolas cheating. Plus now there's an assassin involved.. only for fun, mind you. Stella just want to torment him. And more recently -Lending out a powerful artifact illegally just because you have a crush on the guy. Ended up biting them both in the ass when the wrong person found out. Not that they were particularly careful about it tbh. Stolas ended up taking the full blame.. but it was definitely a stupid thing to do and it had direct consequences. And Stolas was the one with the responsibility there. All this to say.. It wasn't just this episode that ended Stolas in trouble because of his actions. I've seen a lot of people shouting "finally" as if this man hasn't had a miserable time throughout most of the show. People act as if he isn't aware of his wrongdoings even though he constantly mention how HE was the one in the wrong. He realized in Ozzie's that he'd treated Blitz the wrong way.. and that the deal was fucked up (not because Blitz thought so, mind you. I stand by that) and tried to rectify it by getting the crystal and giving Blitz a choice. And not calling him on the full moon nights anymore. Even while hurt and feeling rejected he still thinks that HE's the one who missed something and who messed up. He blames himself for the way Octavia feels about him too. He never even put the blame on Stella to her.. And more recently.. his words in Sinsmas "I caused ALL of this".. Just saying.

One of my favorite ways to explore a character is how they like their coffee or tea. As in; which one do they prefer, or do they like both? How much sugar and/or cream do they add, if any? Hot or cold? It’s something so niche and minuscule that you probably wouldn’t ever think about otherwise, and yet imo it can tell you a lot about a character.

(Examples below)

1) Mollymauk prefers coffee. He tends to add a lot of sugar and creamer—to the point where it’s more cream than coffee—and prefers it iced rather than hot (my explanation for this in my fic was bc tieflings run hot, they need iced drinks to level it out). Essentially, the way I see it, he likes his coffee the way I do lol.

2) Caleb prefers tea. He adds a bit of sugar to cut the innate bitterness, but no cream, and almost exclusively drinks it hot. This being said, he is known to switch to apple cider on occasion, if he wants to switch it up.

3) Shepherd prefers hot black coffee. Ik this makes no sense considering my logic for Molly drinking iced coffee, but…idk, I can’t see Shep drinking iced coffee. He does drink iced tea if he can get it tho (yes I am implementing my southern roots onto him, what of it)

4) Sarnax almost exclusively drinks hot tea (don’t remember the name of the specific type he carries). No sweeteners or cream or anything, just the pure tea.

5) Skrimm likes apple cider. I mean, he prefers booze, but if there’s no booze available, then he’ll subconsciously go for the cider if given the option

6) Gricko likes apple juice. I can’t really explain why, but my brain has latched onto this idea and won’t let go. So yeah. Gricko likes cold apple juice.

7) Torbek also likes apple juice but like. Room temperature apple juice.
