Warnings: swearing, Jungkook abs, smut (18+ only plz)
Chaos is not something you’ve been apart of for quite some time.
You traded in your busy life of hustling and turned away the bustling city you were born in to retreat into what could only be described as paradise.
Sure, the bugs can be a bit overwhelming and mating season amongst your animal neighbors doesn’t provide the most serene of soundtracks but, it was home.
Home is now a small cottage nestled into the forest at the base of Mount Iridescence.
The exterior is made of smooth grey stone and the roof, which your husband laid by hand, is made from the finest oak the two of you could find.
Of course, the exterior is covered in greenery, it wouldn’t be a cottage paradise if it weren’t.
The front of the cottage is adorned with a massive flower garden full of white daisies, pink roses, yellow tulips and tons of baby’s breath.
Your porch served multiple purposes; housing the ridiculous amount of plants you’ve nursed, providing shelter to the occasional racoon or squirrel and, allowing you and your husband to watch the sun kiss the crest of the mountains every evening.
The interior of your cottage was intentionally simple. Other than your husband’s many homemade ceramic pieces, the main source of décor was of course, more greenery. White linen, chocolate colored clay and, delicate lace also accented the inside of your home.
Behind the cottage was essentially a small zoo, complete with a dozen chickens, a handful of geese, a cow named Jezabel, a llama named Su and, two baby bunnies named Floof and Tokki.
Beside the animals was a garden that provided many of the ingredients you use in your kitchen every day; broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin, green peppers, jalapeños, garlic, thyme, parsley, tomatoes, strawberries, grapes and carrots. There was a lemon tree or two as well but, the garden was consistently expanded as you and your husband learned new ways to be better plant parents.
The point is, you had made yourself a nice little life in the forest.
An odd trip into town occurred every week or so as well as visits to friends and family but overall, life had resigned to the small nook in the forest.
You had never felt more at peace...
“JAGI,TOKKI IS MISSING!!!”
Your husband’s urgent call rips you out of your gratitude as you begin frantically looking towards the direction of his voice.
“What??? Are you sure?! We locked their little home last night didn’t we?”
You’re now questioning every life decision you’ve ever made and whilst you’d like to be absolutely certain you’d never do anything to endanger the lives of your two tiny fluffy children, the fear in your husbands voice is unsettling.
Finally he whips around the corner, his black hair flopping about as he does, eyes wide with panic.
“I can’t find him anywhere- I went to feed them and I can only see Floof!”
“You checked under the patch of bedding in the left corner? He’s always hiding under there...” You insure, your breathing slightly increasing.
He seems to deflate beneath your question and, suddenly a rush of pink comes across his cheeks, “I- well...ok I may have forgot to check underneath the bedding...”
He rushes out the last bit of his words before hastily running to the backyard. Despite your inability to keep up with your freakishly athletic husband, your anxiety is fueling your movements to the point that you aren’t far behind him.
Excuse me Su, Jezebel! Ge-Get out of my way please!”
You hear him try and reason with the ladies currently blocking his path as he nearly trips over some stray chicken wire.
“Slow down!” You call after him, slightly out of breath as you see Jungkook halt abruptly in front of the baby blue hutch housing the bunnies.
“Hi Floof, sorry to bother you again I’m just gonna-” Jungkook murmurs into the hutch as you finally catch up to him.
Eagerly, you peak over his shoulder, heart wildly thrashing in your chest as you see him lift up the fluffy padding on the bottom of their home.
Sure enough, Tokki is sleeping soundly beneath the padding, his small caramel colored body curled into a little ball, completely unaware of the panic over his disappearance.
“Oh god...babe I’m so sorry, I just freaked out I thought- I thought I let him out because, I was the last one out here last night.”
You can hear the tightening in his voice and it sends a thousands pangs of sadness into your heart.
Kissing your teeth, you pull him into your chest, laughing gently as you pat his back.
“Hey, hey it’s ok sweetheart. He’s right here yeah? You’d never forget to lock them up.”
His hands quickly find the back of your cotton dress, clinging to you tigher than you’d expect before tucking his face into your neck.
With a kiss he mumbles, “ ‘m sorry I scared you, I was trying to finish all the chores since you worked so hard on the garden yesterday.”
“You’re so sweet.” You peck at his cheek, “And wonderful.” Another peck, “And amazing.” Peck. “And cute.” Your kisses move lower so they are focused on his neck, “And I love you.”
With the onslaught of kissing, Jungkook snickers and playfully wiggles away from you as the sensations overwhelm his sensitive skin.
Despite the bit of tears that stain his cheeks, his brilliant smile is out to play as his hands find your waist to pull you against him.
“Soft.” He teases, sniffling slightly but the love in his eyes is unavoidable, “I love you too...”
“You really want to talk about who is soft right now?” You quirk an eyebrow, “You’re still crying...”
At this he laughs, his body shaking as he pulls you in closer to him, the scent of his eucalyptus body wash enticing your senses.
“Shhhh...” He giggles, pecking the shell of your ear playfully, “Our children are safe, let’s just pretend this never happened.”
You giggle and shrink away from his kiss before your body seems to snap back like an elastic band, your arms wrapping around his waist.
“Fair enough. As long as you promise to check the ENTIRE hutch next time.”
He nods, smirking against the side of your head, “Deal.”
As you pull away from him, you feel a pang of regret, wishing desperately that you were able to stay near him for the entire morning.
Or the entire day...
Or the entire year...
But who’s counting?
However, cottages do not tend themselves and while you have the strongest urge to pull your husband into your bedroom, you know that there are chores to finish.
Jungkook’s eyes are on you, like he’s reading the script inside your head and as much as you’d like to convince him (and yourself) that everything in there is PG, you both know it’s not.
Newlyweds are like that right?
All passion, no pause.
Sex, love, touching, laughing, getting drunk off of one another...
It’s a daily occurrence.
The honeymoon phase isn’t supposed to last forever but, you’ve been back from your honeymoon for 4 years now and you swear you want him more than you did when you first met him.
He giggles then, like a school-boy, his eyes alight with mischief.
“Stop staring at me...” He tucks a finger underneath your chin, “Weirdo...”
His soft cherry lips tuck into yours then, slowly unwinding you with his kiss as his fingers delicately cup your face.
Of course you reciprocate, drinking up every bit of his affection that you can, your hands sliding beneath the white t-shirt that hangs loosely off of his body.
Jungkook shudders as he feels your fingers brush over his lower stomach, arousal beginning to bubble up in his gut.
However, you aren’t going to let his snarky comment go unpunished so as you peek an eye open you say, “The hutch is still open...”
With a pop, he pulls away from your kiss with wide eyes to check on the bunnies. Once he’s satisfied with their well-being, he gently shuts the hutch and turns back to you.
“Rude.” He remarks, trying to appear unamused, “I was literally trying to make out with you.”
A laugh leaves your lips, “You can make out with me later...” You lean in to peck the mole beneath his lip, “We have chores to finish.”
“wE hAvE cHorES to FInisH...” He mocks you playfully and snickers as he narrowly avoids your hand as you swat at him, “I’m kidding! I’m kidding you’re right...just c’mere one last time...”
Your eyes narrow in suspicion but because you are completely weak for him, you allow him to tug you against his chest once more.
“I love you Mrs. Jeon...” He vows but this time, you can practically taste the sincerity in his tone as he kisses the side of your head, then your cheek, then your lips, “I’ll see you in a bit ok?”
With nothing but warmth in your chest, you offer him a cheesy smile and give him a proper hug.
“I love you too Mr. Jeon...”
As the two of you part ways he turns around to continue his tasks revealing to you the sculpt of his ass within his black jeans.
And of course, you smack it.
Because, who the hell wouldn’t?
“Don’t forget the chicken coop!”
You yell as he jumps a mile high.
“YAH!” He calls after you, chuckling to himself, his cheeks reddening involuntarily.
The rest of the morning passes easily.
You harvest the various herbs and produce from your garden, clean the bathroom, organize the refrigerator after your grocery delivery and catch up on some of your reading before deciding to make some lunch.
Jungkook had been out all morning as well: tending to the animals, fixing some of the fencing, weeding, repotting some flowers and, mowing the front lawn.
He’s probably feeling the same level of hunger that you are so, you head out to the backyard to ask him what he’s in the mood for.
It takes a minute for you to find him but, when you do...you really regret that you did.
His white t-shirt has been discarded over the fence; the only left adorning his body are the dark wash denim jeans, his black work boots and, sweat.
Before he even notices your presence, he pushes his sweaty mop of hair away from his face, squinting at the ray of sunshine currently in his eyes.
He truly has no idea how attractive he is.
But you certainly do.
And you feel like you’re going to faint.
His wedding band catches the sunlight and it reminds you, once again, that this man is your husband.
Which is a fairytale within itself.
Jungkook rubs the back of his neck, wincing slightly before his hand slides down to rub over his stomach (abs), signifying in his own way that he’s hungry.
Which causes you to remember why you came to find him in the first place.
“H-hey babe!’” You call gently, your voice wavering.
Eyes widening a bit, he hones in on the sound of your voice, his face lighting up as he sees you.
“Yah! There she is! Are you all done?”
You smile, adjusting your clothes and wishing that your knees were kissing the soft grass of the garden.
Nodding, you step a little closer to him, trying to avoid full-on eye contact, “Yeah, I just finished up, do you want something to eat? I was gonna make lunch...”
“That depends...” He maneuvers his head to try and catch your attention, his body bending slightly in the process, “Are you on the menu?”
He has the audacity to throw a smirk and an over the top wink your way before immediately cackling as you roll your eyes.
“Shut up...” You shake your head, trying desperately to fight the urge to smile at him but when his face lights up with laughter, you have no other choice.
“Are you????” He insists loudly as he turns to sling his shirt over his shoulder, “I’m starving.”
The way he says the last part of his sentence is less funny as there is clearly some humor disappearing from his tone but, his charming smirk remains on his lips.
As he strolls over to you and, you almost have half a mind to retreat back into the house because, your ability to keep from ogling at him is slowly fading.
“I was going to make something with the broccoli I harvested this morning...” You insist, playfully turning away from him when he tries to lean down and kiss you.
"Kiss meee...” He pleads, pouting his pretty lips, the sweat still very present on his figure, “I’ve been working really hard.”
The way he whines at you is actually kind of hot and, coupled with his slick backed hair and his shirtless torso, it’s getting hard to bring yourself to remember why you originally came looking for your husband.
You oblige, kissing the salt from his lips, indulging in the musky scent emanating from his body.
Jungkook doesn’t like to be dirty but ever since moving to the cottage, he’s fallen in love with working outside and doesn’t focus so heavily on being spotless.
“I came out here to ask you what you wanted to eat and, now you’re flustering me in the middle of our garden all over again.” You accuse, smiling against his lips, “You need to eat something, I didn’t see you take any fruit this morning.”
He rests his forearms atop your shoulders, grinning shamelessly, “If you weren’t so adamant on feeding me, I could be doing more than just flustering you.”
Jungkook really is an anomaly.
Hours earlier, he was crying into your neck over possibly letting out the bunnies and, now he’s using his charm and good looks to reduce you to a pile of lust.
Unfair.
“Did you not get enough last night? I’m pretty sure we were at it til after 1...”
Jungkook raises a brow, his grin never fading, “Did you? You’re the one pressing your thighs together right now.”
“No, I’m not.” You lie but, to be fair, you didn’t even notice you were doing it until he pointed it out.
“Yes you are.”
“No, I’m just standing here.”
“Babe, we’ve been together for how long now? I know when you’re in the mood. I don’t know why you can never admit it.”
Because you’re stubborn.
You take one of his hands, leaving one of his forearms over your shoulder as you press a chaste kiss to his knuckles, “I don’t know why you think I’m in a mood. I’m simply asking you what you want for lunch and, its quickly turning into an interrogation.”
It’s impossible to hide the smile on your lips because, he’s completely right.
You are in a mood.
You've been in a mood for hours now.
Jungkook smiles softly, unconvinced, his thumb coming up to brush over your bottom lip, “Ok. Whatever you say. I need to shower really quick; do you need help with lunch?”
Are you disappointed that he didn’t keep at it? Yes.
Are you now left flustered and horny without a solution? Yes.
Do you still get a sense of satisfaction that your husband still tries to pursue even after so many years together? Also yes.
“Nope. I’m good. It should be ready in a half hour or so...” You lean up to press a kiss against his cheek, “Love you.”
A half smile comes over his mouth then, his eyes watching your lips, “Love you too.”
It’s later.
You and Jungkook are sitting on your sofa, nestled under a blanket, eating homemade ice cream sundaes. The fire is crackling beneath the mounted television that is set to one of your favorite films whilst the world slowly goes to sleep outside your windows.
Life is sweet.
Literally.
“Yours looks so pretty jagi, how did you get the whipped cream to do that?”
Jungkook’s lips are pouted, his head tilting to get a better look at the perfect swirl of whipped cream atop your chocolate ice cream.
“I just swirled the can around in a circle.” You giggle, tucking your spoon into the fudgy scoop of ice cream in your bowl.
Jungkook is not satisfied with that answer at all and he looks sadly at the haphazard lines of whipped cream on his ice cream.
“Mine’s ugly...” His pout deepens, pushing his spoon around his bowl.
He’s freshly showered, his hair fluffy and damp, his skin moisturized and smelling like mint and sandalwood and now he’s pouting???
This man does not let you breath.
“It’s not ugly! It’s abstract.” You assure him, kissing the pout off his lips.
He doesn’t move even as you kiss him, his eyes eagerly looking towards the kitchen, “I wanna try again...”
The laugh that leaves your lips is unavoidable as you follow his gaze to the kitchen, “You want to try to top your sundae again?”
He deadpans, “Absolutely. I need to get this right. It doesn’t look like a sundae.”
“You’re just going to eat it babe, it’s fine. We can practice whipped cream swirls tomorrow.”
You’re still laughing a little bit and he’s chuckling too but the determination never leaves his eyes.
“No, nowwww.” He whines before pushing his bowl onto the coffee table and bounding over to the kitchen.
He plops back onto the couch, slightly out of breath with the can of whipped cream in his hands.
“Ok-” He grabs his bowl off the table and hands you the can, “Show me the motion again.”
You shake your head, smirking fondly at him whilst you set your bowl down where his was.
“Like this...”
You point the tip of the can downwards at his bowl and make a circular motion with your hand, glancing up towards him to insure he’s watching you.
“Ok- Ok I think I got it. Here...”  He gestures to the can, uncapping it before meticulously following the motions you demonstrated, and just like everything else Jungkook does, it comes out perfectly, “Yahhhhh letsgetiittttttt!!!!”
This has you in a fit of a laughter, your chest filling with joy at the sound of his excitement.
Jungkook shoves his sundae into your view, “Don’t laugh! See? It’s so much better now.”
You wipe the tear that’s forming at the corner of your eye, shaking your head at him, once more, “Yes baby, it’s so much better.”
He starts laughing again too because your joy is infectious and he is weak for your smile.
“Thank you. Your expertise is appreciated.”
With that, he wraps an arm around you and pulls you into his side, placing a kiss on the top of your head, “You’re prettier than this sundae though don’t worry.”
You’re all too eager to cuddle in close with him, admiring the way he looks in his gray sweat suit and admiring the way he makes you feel even more.
“I’m glad you find me more attractive than the sundae Jungkook.”
He just smirks, getting to work on his ice cream and as he pulls the spoon out of his mouth, he shrugs, “I find you more edible too but, you aren’t ready for that conversation.”
Although you know there is an err of immaturity to his jokes, they still affect you.
They make you feel like a giddy teenager, sick from the pure lust and attraction you feel for your crush.
The comment also sends a rush of heat to your cheeks but, you don’t say anything, you merely kiss his chest and cuddle closer to him.
He is satisfied regardless as he enjoys the fact that he can still make you blush, even if its with cheesy jokes.
The rest of dessert passes in comfortable silence.
Jungkook finishes before you and, offers to take the dishes to the sink whilst you straighten up the living room before bed.
As you’re folding the cream throw blanket that rests over the arm of your sofa, you feel two strong arms wrap around your waist.
He wastes no time by slowly placing kisses down the side of your neck, his hands slowly up towards your breasts but stopping just beneath the swell of them.
“Is it that time jagiya? Can I make you feel good now?”
His request is nearing a whisper, his lips brushing up towards your ear.
You lean back, resting your head on his shoulder whilst your hands settle over the tops of his.
After resisting him for the past 10 hours, you’ve grown tired of waiting.
“Yeah- it’s that time.” You whisper assuredly and at that, he spins you around, pressing his lips eagerly against yours.
His breath stalls a bit as your hands find his hips, squeezing gently whilst the two of you settle into the kiss.
It’s getting too frantic for Jungkook’s liking as he has specific plans for you but, the way you’re kissing him and touching on him is getting to his headspace and he knows he has to stop you before you start kissing his neck.
Because after that, he’s a goner.
“Come here...come sit on the couch for me.” He whispers into your mouth.
Jungkook has you on the couch seconds later, ridding you of your sleep shirt, leaving you in nothing but your panties.
Instinctually, your arms come around your stomach.
You’re not exactly insecure around your husband but, old habits die hard you know?
Jungkook immediately kisses his teeth, bumping your arms with his hand, “Ah ah...don’t hide from me please, I want to see all of you...” He assures you, as he has a million times but it never gets tiring.
To solidify his sentiment, he spreads your thighs gently and leans over and kisses all along your lower stomach, focusing on the areas he knows you don’t like.
He drags his nose across the band of your panties, looking up at you through his hair, “Did I ever tell you how beautiful I think you are?”
You giggle, brushing a hand through his hair to reveal more of his face to you, “I think you have yeah, once or twice...”
He raises an eyebrow, smirking at the sound of your giggle, “Once or twice? Aish that’s certainly not enough...”
“Maybe more than that...” You mumble, a shivering as he runs his nose along your panties again, one of his hands travelling up towards your breast, “All the time.”
He chuckles lowly, “That’s more like it.” He hums, pressing a kiss above your belly button as his fingers brush over your aching nipple, “It’s still not enough though...that’s why I married you. So I’d be able to tell you every single day.”
Your back arches against his hand whilst he slowly rubs over the sensitive skin, bringing it to a frigid peak.
“I love you.”
It’s all you’re able to whisper at the moment because your arousal is starting to invade your ability to form sentences and he clearly has a plan to continue fucking with that.
“I love you jagiya...” Jungkook smirks, kissing over your stomach again before sinking onto his knees, “Can I tease you for a little bit? I wanna make sure your nice and ready for my tongue. That sundae didn’t fill me up enough...”
With a shaky breath you nod, parting your legs further but to be honest, you can’t imagine being anymore ready than you are right now.
“Close your eyes for me.”
You’re engulfed in darkness then, surrendering yourself to whatever he has planned for you.
“Thank you.” He kisses the top of your pussy, allowing his lips to linger there as he inhales, “Fuck- you smell really good. I know you’re probably ready now but, I really want to make you drip if I can.”
His comment causes you to inhale sharply, your nipples hardening almost uncomfortably as begins tickling his fingers up the length of your inner legs. His hands are so soft, so delicate as they touch you, stopping just outside the seam of your panties before travelling back up to your knees. Over and over again, he tickles your skin and eventually he starts tracing the edges of your panties with his fingers.
“Touch your nipples for me. We’re almost there baby, just a little longer.”
He isn’t controlling you.
He isn’t in charge.
He just knows your body so well.
He knows how to make you feel good.
And fuck, if he doesn’t want to make you feel so so good.
You follow his instructions, bringing your fingers to your nipples and rubbing back and forth over the tops of them, the sensations going straight between your legs as your husband continues his teasing.
He slides his index fingers beneath your panties now, allowing the backs of them to brush against the lips of your pussy ever so gently, ignoring the throbbing knot of nerves that needs it the most.
When he’s done there, he focuses the tickling motion just on the outside of your panties, tickling his fingers up and down.
Over and over and over and over...
It’s getting a little overwhelming and, just when you’re about to say something he gasps in admiration.
“Oh look at that jagiya- you did it. You dripped all over your panties for me...”
He sounds genuinely proud of you and, you react to his praise instantly, your eyes opening to catch the smile on his lips.
The darkness in his eyes is obvious but there is mixture of adoration and deviance in there too.
He’s going to destroy you.
“Good girl...” He tickles his fingers over your panties once more before kissing the top of your kneecap, “Are you ready to get your pussy eaten now?”
Your fingers are still lingering on your nipples, your legs twitching at his touch.
You're completely enamored with him.
His praise is addicting and you never want it to end.
“Please.” You clear your throat, brushing a hand through his hair, “Yes please.”
He smirks, almost darkly as he kisses the side of your wrist, “My sweet girl...”
It’s the last thing he says before he’s slipping off your panties and getting to work.
He starts by kissing down the length of your lips a few times but, he knows that the time for teasing his over.
You feel his tongue between your lips then, searching for your swollen clit before getting to work on it.
As he licks you towards bliss, his hands are wandering all over you, squeezing at your hips, brushing over your breasts, rubbing at your stomach.
He wants you to know how much he loves pleasing you.
He groans at the taste of you, his dick hardening almost painfully, precum staining the seam of his sweat pants.
“I- Jungkook I’m gonna cum.” You whisper, hands tangling in his hair as he focuses all of his attention on your clit, licking at it faster and faster.
“Mhm- I know, you’re twitching all over the place for me. Let me taste it beautiful...”
The pleasure launches itself into your senses then, taking up every square inch inside of your body.
You feel your toes curling against the carpet, the back of the couch damp with your own seat as you press your hips towards Jungkook’s mouth.
When it’s over, he’s kissing you and his eagerness accidentally causes him to bite your lip harder than he intends to.
“Shit sorry- I'm so worked up right now. Eating you out makes me crazy...” He whispers shakily and you actually feel for him.
His erection looks painful beneath the confines of his sweat pants and, you want nothing more than to suck the discomfort away.
“Me too- it's ok.” You assure him, brushing his hair away from his face, “Switch me. It’s your turn.”
You don’t have to tell him twice.
He’s on the couch, tugging off his sweatshirt, which was sticking to his skin, his hair a mess as he leans back against the couch.
His body is beautiful; tan, toned and covered in little marks that are specific to Jungkook:
Little moles, various old scars and tan lines from working in the sun so much.
He is beautiful, it’s painful.
Chest heaving with excitement, he ushers your mouth to his “Please ride it, I wanna hold you.”
Who are you to refuse him when he asks so politely?
After yanking his sweats off, you’re sitting aside him seconds later, kissing his mouth like your life depended on it.
“Wasn’t our sex life supposed to go stale at this point? What are we doing right?” He jokes, his hands roaming over your back whilst you line him up with your entrance.
“There’s something in the water up here I think.” You giggle and he follows suit, nudging your nose as he tugs you closer to him.
“Oooh good theory.” He smirks and as you sink down on him, he locks eyes with you, allowing you to see his most vulnerable self.
In the midst of pure bliss...
His eyes widen as you engulf him, mouth opening at the sensation before his forehead falls against yours.
“Fuck.”
Bracing your hands behind his head, you start a pace you know will lull him into bliss, all while keeping your eyes on him.
The gaze is so intense between the two of you but with the only sound being labored breathing and your skin slapping together, Jungkook snickers.
“Why does it have to sound like that?” He whispers, burying his face into your neck when you laugh.
“It’s not a cute sound.” You agree, giggling despite sinking feeling in your stomach.
Jungkook’s dick is a work of art and it’s more fulfilling than anything you’ve ever experienced.
It’s going to make you cum again regardless of the unsavory noises filling the living room.
Speaking of cumming, Jungkook seems to be getting further away from humor as you start to bounce faster on him.
“O-oh shit. Okay- fuck keep going jagi. Please keep going- like that...” He moans now, which is something he only reserves to inform you that he’s really close, “Shit. It feels so good.”
To solidify his fate, you usher his face out of your neck to lock eyes with him again.
“Yeah? I want you to feel good. Are you gonna cum inside for me?”
“Yeah...” He nearly chokes when you tighten around him, holding onto your hips for dear life.
“Let me feel it beautiful. Cum for me.”
Using his own words against him was a dirty move but, Jungkook makes no complaints and follows your instruction.
His stomach caves in with the force of his breath as he spills himself inside of you, digging his nails into your hips as he does.
You’re not far behind and with a hand between your legs and your husband whispering encouraging words into your ear, you soon meet the same fate.
The two of you stay wrapped up in one another for quite some time before deciding to clean each other up.
Straightening up the living room was a fruitless endeavor as your clothes end up abandoned on the floor anyway.
You simply can’t be bothered as you usher a very naked, very happy Jungkook to your bedroom.
Beneath the cool cotton sheets, he pulls you against his chest, humming contently.
“I wish I could marry you again- that'd be pretty cool.”
In the darkness, you smile rubbing your face playfully against his skin.
“Mmm no. This time, I’m definitely marrying you.”
He scoffs, “Uh no. You married me last time. I wanna marry you this time.”
“Um? You literally proposed to me last time so no, you married me. This time I get to marry you.”
He snickers, “Oh so are you gonna propose to me this time?”
“Yeah- then I’m gonna marry the heck out of you.”
The lack of light prevents you from seeing how big his smile really is but, you do feel the kiss he places between your eyes, “Fine. I’ll allow it but, only because I love you.”
You unknowingly return his smile, hugging him tightly, “I love you too.”

What's some of your most favorite random facts about your SF OCs? Do you think the SF64 bosses have... Love lives? Drama? Favorite foods? I'm here for all of the tea.
[Note 1: I will take the opportunity to say that to answer your questions in a simple way, I will make a separate post talking about the relationships and love lives of my SF 64 headcanons. I have written too much about them and their love lives that I prefer to do it in a future post so as not to extend this too long.Thank you very much for understanding my decision, and also thank you very much for asking and reading my answer!)
(Note 2: I apologize for not answering your question before. Very busy but also writing headcanons, although fun, they are difficult to write too lol)
Let's start it:
Tumblr media
OH HELL YEAH I IMAGINE THAT!!!!!
I think many already know me as the artist who spends all her time drawing and writing content about the bosses of Star fox 64, and I also admit that I dedicate myself to thinking a lot more about relationships, daily lives and writing ideas apart from their fights in war or as Andross soldiers (Although I don't want to ignore that part either, because I mainly decided to write about them to show Andross's empire and what the character is like interacting with his army).
But oh! I suppose you mean my characters Pluto, Ophelia and others, right? Honestly I like many headcanons/ideas that I have, but I can tell you only one for each of them (so as not to lengthen the answer so much!)
My SF fan characters / ocs:
Pluto Galaxicos is very interested in makeup. Cosplay and drag. This is not only because he finds it to be an entertaining and cute hobby himself, but it also allows him the ability to dress up and sneak well on secret missions together with Andrew.
Barbara Andorf (Andreas / Andross' twin sister), during her childhood to a certain point of her adulthood, had the same personality as her future son, Andrew. She was the same image of a faithful, childlike fan with her own brother as Andrew is with his uncle. The only difference is that Barbara was not able to die for Andross.
Randall Nook (Aquarosa Mechanic and friend of Caiman and Star wolf) has a difficult relationship with Pigma Dengar. It is not that Pigma is abusive towards him out of evil, but the mechanical pig loves to get Randall into his crazy and stupid things when a meeting or collaboration between them if is possible. Lucky for Randall, Leon or Caiman they are there to save him from the dirty hands of the pig.
Iris Halsey (a Meteo crusher soldier and one of Aaron Galaxicos' lovers) sometimes has the habit of putting her pupils across since she is a chameleon woman. She sometimes only does this to scare or annoy her lieutenant.
Moe Sokolova (Meteo Crusher Chief Mechanic) also has a difficult relationship with Pigma, but unlike Randall with Pigma, the two mechanics despise each other. Many of their matches are to demonstrate their superiority or talent among them, fighting who is the best mechanic. It is also because Pigma despises the pilot of the Meteo crusher and Moe ends up defending him by being her superior.
Ofelia Watson (Meteo crusher Soldier and also lover of Aaron Galaxicos) ... she has a great love for dark movies. Horror movies, gore movies, Class B movies, disturbing-themed documentaries. Ofelia is a great collector of these types of films and is fascinated to talk about this content. A large collection of gothic / dark merchandise can also be seen in her room. For this reason Galaxicos is sometimes scared of her.
Marshall Davis (Ace pilot of the Meteo crusher and right hand of Galaxicos) was once a loving family man to his beloved wife and daughter named Daisy. Even though the years have passed since his wife divorced him, Marshall has not been able to forget about his daughter.
Mikhael Fierro (Bodyguard of Aaron Galaxicos) hides a homo erotic relationship with that of his own lieutenant. The Meteo Crusher pilot takes advantage of the bodyguard's sexuality to commit secret actions or missions at his command or to manipulate him. Fierro, despite not being intimidated by the pilot on public, feels a great panic towards him.
Theorisa Bouvier (wife of Aaron Galaxicos and mother of Pluto) was a woman thief from one of the small planets of the Lylat System. Her reason for being exiled to Venom was by attempting to steal a private property from General Pepper on that planet and an assassination attempt while defending herself against him. She thought, until her death, that her actions were wrong and she hoped she could remedy her punishment.
Nera Relian (Attack Carrier's Chief Doctor) was one of the few daughters in a family of Venom roving cooks. She wanted to study medicine and have a doctorate, but the culture and society of the city where she grew up was so patriarchal and sexist that she could never have studies. When Andross came to Venom, he offered Nera and other women to study medicine and Nera was able to fulfill her dream, working in the army because of her loyalty to her new emperor.
My SF 64 headcanons:
Aaron Galaxicos (Meteo Crusher pilot) has been singing since he was very young. His great inspiration was watching the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs movie. During the Lylat war, the pilot gives small musical shows to bring good cheer and support to the soldiers of the empire (and seduce women * coff coff *)
Caiman Dilia is the first Venomian-Lylatian translator. Before meeting the former Doctor Andreas Andorf and having strange non-Venomian beings hanging around Venom, the young Venomian has dedicated himself to practicing and understanding and translating the Lylatian language to Venomian. This was because Caiman believed that acting in a pacifist way against the Lylatians would be better to understand the arrival of these to Venom. His unique ability served Andross to communicate with the other Venomians in their encounter.
The Commander Cobra Ryota (Area 6 Commander) will look like a reserved man, educated and good-natured, but he has a great appetite, especially for meat. If you remember the cliché of the protagonist of shonen anime eating a lot like Goku or Luffy, then you know what I'm talking about! (Oh, and many times he has a fantasy to eating Pigma).
In his spare time, Fidel Macbeth (Forever Train Engineer) loves to paint the small ceramic or wooden figures of the Macbeth family mascot. Playing the violin is also his biggest hobby and relaxation outside the factory.
Hook Silver (Sarumarine Captain) has a great fatherly personality that is often seen surrounded by civilian Venom children or Andross allied soldiers. It is his rule to never attack minors, pregnant women or commit acts such as human trafficking or abuse. If one of his soldiers (who are considered like a family to his) breaks this rule he is punished with death or exile from his squad.
Osamu Kumo (Shogun Pilot) has frequently talk too much about the Mecha of him, the Warlord (Shogun). It is common to see him clean the robot by himself or give him pampering or kisses as if it were a cherished object, or refer to the Mecha as "my baby".
Granga often plays video games when he has free time or simply when he is bored at work. The video games that he loves to play are mostly RPG, Puzzles, shooter, etc. In case he is playing online and someone decides to bother him, this person will be hacked by the little monkey to get even with that person.
Magno Doenis (Attack Carrier Captain) saw Andross as a great enemy and potential danger to Venom when the scientist ape man arrived on the toxic planet. Years before the arrival of Andross, some exiles from Corneria or the Lylat System came against their will to Venom, terrifying the Venomians for being considered dangerous and unknown beings. For the city of Magno and for himself, these new furry beings were a new plague that came to conquer his homeland. Andross was no exception for the Venomian soldier, but as soon as there was a peace pact and the komodo dragon could meet the scientist monkey, Magno became a great ally of Andross. His new emperor promised a better life for himself and the great Doenis family and the entire Venomian civilization if they succeeded in achieving victory. Magno has a great patriot and soldier spirit that would become one of Andross's greatest allies.
Oh, and because you asked too. My boys' favorite foods!
Galaxicos loves fruit salad. Especially since it is healthy for a man like him. The Meteo crusher pilot is always careful with his physique and health.
Any type of meat is the favorite food of The Commander ... but if I had to choose that is ... Pigma! Ok, lie! The truth is, in my hcs, the Venomians hunt and enjoy the meat of the Dodora, who is a native creature of the planet and that the meat of it helps to strengthen the Venomian warriors.
Granga has a great fascination for sweet food because (according to him) it helps him stay awake. But if I have to mention a specific food as his favorite, it would be the waffle.
Osamu loves to eat fruits or vegetables like Galaxicos. But in his case the salad with vegetables is his favorite.
Fidel also loves to eat dishes with vegetables or fruits. He always accompanies it with a rich orange juice and oatmeal cookies. He is a classic man who loves to eat everyday food but ideal for a high class man like him.
Magno, like The Commander, is a huge fan of the Dodora's meat.
Caiman prefers to eat a sandwich (with meat from Dodora).
Silver loves sushi! Especially accompanying it with beer.
and ... I think that's all I have! As I said, I prefer to answer about the relationships and dramas that my SF 64 bosses guys have in another post, and I hope to publish it soon! Thank you very much for asking and reading this entire post! I appreciate it very much. Please don't be shy to keep asking! :3

Weekly Wrambles #5
Heyo, I’m back! Moving in’s been a little insane, so I don’t have any project updates to share--
But I do have house updates :D.
Tumblr media
My very first project was unpacking my massive collection of books and magazines and filling the shelves in the fireplace room (which you can actually see in this picture; huzzah)! I also put my various knick-knacks on the shelves and set up a little table so we have somewhere to eat; it’s where we have breakfast every morning. :)
Tumblr media
The biggest project has been my writing nook; it’s required a lot of hanging up of art and organizing and just generally trying to figure out what to do with the space which has been hell for my adhd because Choice Paralysis. Go figure.
Tumblr media
This is the wall right next to my desk, which will be dedicated to, you guessed it, more art.
Tumblr media
This beam is right behind my desk, which is wear I’m putting my more Aesthetique art pieces.
Tumblr media
And this is the Thirst Wall, which is technically in the writing nook, but this wall space is dedicated to my Thirsty Thotty pictures of Piotr. It’s also where I have all my art supplies and notebooks, and it’s so nice to have everything accessible and visible for once instead of crammed away in drawers.
Tumblr media
And this is some chalk art I did on the chalkboard in the front room. The whole “Dabby” thing is an amalgamation of my name and my fiance’s name. It popped up early in our relationship and it’s stuck since then. (Also yes I know my Spanish is trash I’m sorry sdlfjsdlkfjldsf.)
Overall, this house is starting to feel more like a home. It’s been a lot of cleaning and organizing and BOXES SO MANY BOXES SAVE ME, but it’s been so worth it.
See you guys next week, hopefully with some actually creative stuff lol.

Storage Sheds – Building, Designing, and Mastering
Storage Sheds – Building, Designing, and Mastering
Storage sheds serve as far more than a place to put your extra stuff. They make your yard look spectacular, give you building experience, give your kids or pets a place to hang out, and sometimes house unexpected (but welcome) visitors. Convert them into a man cave or a tiny cabin to get the most out of your shed without building an entirely different structure! DIY sheds are cheap, go up in about a day, and finding the materials is easy compared to more complex structures. The sheer diversity of shed plans is astounding, allowing you to customize your storage shed.
So, how do you set about building your own storage shed? Why would you want to build it over other structures, what rules do you have to follow, and how do you choose your shed plan? This article goes over those things and more. Sit tight if you want to learn more about finding materials, building your shed, and using every nook and cranny of your storage shed to your advantage! This comprehensive guide goes over everything you could ever want to know—even if you’ve never built a home in your life! Without further ado, let’s begin.
  Why a Storage Shed?
Storage sheds offer a whole array of versatility when it comes to long-term usage. You might build it for storage, but down the road, you can convert it to a workshop, playpen, or even a man cave! Trust me on that last one, I’m an expert. The shed adds value to your house and looks great once you finish building. It helps you utilize space in your yard and saves you just a little time mowing.
Their main advantage might be to keep your house and garage clean. You can put random knick knacks or seasonal stuff in the storage shed and keep your home looking great. No one likes a cluttered attic or garage, and keeping your stuff exposed in the yard just looks trashy.
So, why choose a storage shed when there are many other kinds of buildings to pick? Well, first of all, anything labeled as a storage shed can be repurposed as a different type of building. Secondly, storage shed plans are the most popular type out there, so you actually have the largest amount of diversity as you build your shed. Large barns and second homes take many more resources and a long time to build. Sheds on the other hand take barely a day to build, unless you decide to make a cement foundation! Then it takes two days of work. That’s still nothing compared to a large construction project.
    Making Outdoor Buildings
I’ve briefly mentioned the legal to-dos for shed building in this article, but I want to touch on it in full detail here. Before you build any type of outdoor building or shed, check the legality of the shed plan. Building laws have many layers, and you need to check each one to ensure your hard work pays off in the end. Tearing down a storage shed is the last thing you want to do after you build it!
For most areas, you want to obtain something called planning permission. Your building has to conform to a certain code in order to get that planning permission. Not every county has building codes enacted into law, but it helps a ton to plan ahead and build something that weathers the years easily. Here are some typical restrictions that apply to sheds:
Distance from Other Buildings
Must Build a Proper Foundation
Must Minimize Risk of Fire
Needs Proper Ventilation
Needs Resistance to Natural Disasters
Number of Exits and Their Location
Restrictions on Materials Used
Type of Roof Restrictions
Restrictions on Types of Walls
Zoning laws also determine the type of buildings you are allowed to build, so check those ones in particular. If your plot of land is in the center of a city, that city might have designated the area for transportation or business, rather than personal storage or buildings. If you owned the property before your zone changed, you can grab a lawyer and use the old zone codes. Once you’re sure your shed plans match requirements, get your building permit and start your project.
Guidelines of a Building a Great Shed
With those basics away, let’s look at which rules you should follow, no matter what the law requires! First and foremost, the foundation can make or break the worth of a shed…literally. Keep your shed well above the water table and then some. The area around the shed should slope away. If you build close to another building, make sure it is level with the building and then slopes outwards to prevent water from wearing away the foundation of the original building. Also make sure that the roof of a shed close to a building diverts all water away from the building (lean-to sheds are good for this).
Obviously, you want to use materials that are safe. Don’t fill your shed with asbestos. If you use insulation, pick a fire retardant. Treat your wood properly so it doesn’t rot. Ensure your roof tiles or tarps are firmly attached so that they don’t blow away in a windstorm. If you live in somewhere hot or humid, provide proper ventilation—unless you want a bunch of mold. If you live in a colder climate, ventilation only matters if you are a smoker or plan on having people spend time in the shed. Sheds typically stay insulated against the cold unless conditions become extreme for extended time periods.
To elaborate on a dwelling that you plan on using for social stuff or relaxation, you’ll want to take special safety precautions. You don’t need to keep a fire extinguisher nearby (although I encourage it), but you will want to provide multiple exits. Something as simple as an extra window gives the shed some nice, natural lighting and makes it that much safer.
Now that you know this, some of the weird laws and regulations make more sense, right? The only thing to watch out for now is a Home Owners’ Association, if you’re unlucky enough to have one!
    Choosing Your Shed Plan
If you want to check out a whole slew of plans and styles, I made a dedicated post here. If you just want the summary, let’s go over how to quickly choose your shed plan now! Beyond the stipulations I outlined above, think about what sort of features you want for your shed. Will you need a large door to get machinery in and out? Do you need a garage door for a car? Or maybe you just need a simple door to keep things nice and secure? In any case, the door’s a great place to start, if only because it’s the first thing you interact with in a building!
After you narrow down the designs based on that, think about the size and style of shed you want to build. If size is of no legal concern, consider building it as large as possible, without taking up the whole yard. Why? It greatly improves the value of your home, plus, you might have the funds down the line to upgrade your shed into something livable. Not bad for a weekend project, right?
If the exterior is also a free-for-all, check out all the neat architectural styles out there. Instead of building a typical shed, you could have a colonial shed with a patio, or an impressive Tudor-style shed! These alternative designs look amazing and elevate it from a simple shed to a true addition to your home.
Lastly, choose a shed design that matches your skill level. That doesn’t necessarily mean going with the most simple design if you have no building experience. Different designs contain varying amounts of instruction, so find the instructions that work for you! I recommend using this design collection, but you can find several other types of shed plans on Amazon, the rest of the net, bookstores, and so on. Specialized shed plans are just a bit difficult to get your hands on unless you buy from a collection.
Finding Materials for Your Backyard Shed
The obvious location for backyard shed materials is a home improvement store. They have a huge range of pre-cut sizes of wood, every type of nail and hammer under the sun, and basically everything you would want for your shed. However, these stores have two big disadvantages. The first is that they overcharge for their wood. Granted, their nails and other utilities are competitively priced, but most of your money will be going into your actual building materials. Another disadvantage is the quality of this wood. Wood that goes through too much shipping and handling shows the wear and tear of its journey through small defects.
To circumvent this, purchase all of your wood from local lumberyards. They have a wider variety of wood types, sizes, and everything they sell simply has a higher quality than what you would find in a store. The workers there know exactly how to handle these types of wood and can pass that knowledge on to you. Some even offer special services with custom cutting, letting you build a shed from any type of shed plan!
    Backyard Sheds and Yard Sheds
When it comes to outdoor sheds and backyard sheds, make sure you treat your building properly. This might seem strange to talk about so early, but if you mess up during the building process, it can be a pain to fix these things. Outdoor storage sheds should have an elevated foundation and floor, ensuring that water doesn’t creep in. Use a sealer to cover any nooks and crannies to insulate the shed further and keep out pests. Start with the roof and move down, taking care to do the corners properly.
After that, make sure to prepare good materials for a roof. Any shingles or tiles should be firmly attached to the roof or a strong breeze would blow it away. Gutters help mitigate swamping in certain areas of the yard, so if one side of the shed will receive more water than the other, think about installing some of those. If you neglect your insulation, you’ll get a bunch of bugs and water in the room. I guess that’s fine, if you’re okay with mold on the walls and black widow spiders in the boxes. To each their own, right? However, I highly recommend doing things the proper way with backyard sheds!
  Wood Storage Sheds
When you make a storage building out of wood, picking the wood ends up just as difficult as finding your materials. If your shed plan doesn’t list a particular type of wood, use this guide to determine which type of wood works best for your storage shed. Always choose construction grade wood! I also talk about wood sheds in this post.
Cedar Wood – This is very lightweight and resists both decay and insect infestation. It is dense enough to stand up on its own at the same time. Cedar wood has a distinct aroma that will stay in the shed for the duration of its life…so make sure you’re not allergic to it ahead of time!
Cypress Wood – Cypress wood stands out thanks to its amazing resistance to water. Even if you submerge it in water for months, it shrugs off the water damage. Since these trees are native to the American south’s coastlines, they are built to withstand all the flooding that comes with living in a swamp.
Elm Wood – A beautiful tree that offers a lot of shade, you rarely see this in yards nowadays thanks to a very proliferous disease running around the nation. Despite this, it works spectacularly well in construction projects and other things that require hardwood.
Fir Wood – This is the most common type of building wood out there. You will run into several varieties that have unique attributes, so be careful which ones you pick. Spruce trees, Douglas Firs, Hemlock, and a few other types of trees will be labeled as whitewood alongside pine. This is generally a bad choice for outdoor building, since it rots fairly quickly. It at least works well for furniture.
Of course, these hardly represent the full range of woods you can use. There are also manufactured types of woods that are cheaper and just as durable. Here are the types of engineered wood that you’re likely to run into:
Cross-laminated Timber – By stacking sheets of wood on top of each other and gluing them, you can create an extremely strong type of paneling. It is good to use if your area is prone to fires, since it has a great heat resistance. This works so well that people are starting to build insanely tall wooden buildings with it! The only disadvantage is that it’s difficult to find.
Glulam – By fusing various sizes of wood together with phenol glue (which is a tiny bit toxic), you can create very large and strong beams. You normally see it used in roof work—and keeping it up there instead of in your walls or floor boards helps a little bit with the air quality of your home!
OSB – You’ve probably seen this type of wood before. It’s not as durable as plywood and doesn’t stand up to rain as well, but that doesn’t matter as much when it’s in a covered place where no one will see or stand on it.
Plywood – Yep, it was only a matter of time until you saw this! Since this resists a lot of wear and tear, plywood works great for floor beams, floor boards, roof supports, and studs.
    Small Storage Sheds
By choosing to build a small storage shed, you drastically reduce the costs needed for your project. You can even buy them preassembled and have them shipped to your door, if time is the most expensive part of a shed for you. Simple shed kits provide all sorts of styles and you can make your own shed according to a plan in just a day…provided you have all your materials picked out and bought. The disadvantage of a small storage shed is, of course, the small amount of stuff it can store. However, sometimes you only have a small amount of space to use! Let’s talk about how to maximize this space.
If you plan on hanging out in the shed, keep any decorations thin and make sure the room is brightly lit. The shed should have windows to make it look even larger. The better your view, the better you feel in the shed. Small furniture is hard to find in America, but some antique shops and places like IKEA offer you a few options.
If you plan on using it for its actual purpose of storing stuff, make sure you know how much it can hold before you build. Don’t assume that you can fit everything in the yard in that small space without doing a little math. Try to include extra vertical shelves and use the tips I talk about in the Tool Sheds section to avoid catastrophe.
    Tool Sheds
For tool sheds, use hooks, shelves, and gambrel roofs to maximize the amount of space you use. Pent sheds plans or lean-to shed plans offer the most space for the least amount of money and building expertise. Since tool sheds never end up becoming domestic, feel free to fill the space with ways to store and organize things. You also have no need for windows or ventilation. Let’s get into the specifics of creating the perfect storage shed now!
  DIY Tool Storage
By building your own tool storage, you ensure that even your specialized tools have a home to return to. You no longer need to shuffle through your own storage shed to find that one ruler that slid to the back of the shelves. When building your own tool storage shed from scratch, your only concern is the size of the shed. You want it to store everything you need—both for the house and the yard. Yard tools tend to be bulky, while home tools tend to get lost in the cracks.
Purchasing a tool shelf or using pin boards for the small tools helps mitigate the lost tool issue. However, the only thing that helps your large tools is foresight and good planning. I find a typical lean-to shed to be the perfect size for a tool storage shed, plus, it doesn’t cost a fortune. It goes up quickly and all of the work is easy, even when you build from scratch! You can read about making your own in this dedicated article, or you can follow along with the general shed building instructions I put further down!
    Utility Sheds
A utility shed is simply a shed where you can store your yard and building materials for a time you need them. A tall and thin shed does the trick, but a lean-to shed also served the job and lets you store larger things like bikes and lawn mowers. When your man cave, kitchen, or attic starts to overflow with what I call ‘one-trick-items,’ you throw them in the utility shed. These items are quite useful, but maybe only once a year, and for one thing only. They offer utility, but not often enough to warrant a place in the home.
Anyways, make sure that your utility shed is nice and organized! If things go missing inside it, you might as well have never built it. Use pegboards to store all of your small tools. Put all of your large tools at the bottom of the shed and incorporate shelves that become gradually smaller the higher up they go. And, of course, keep a stepstool or a ladder handy so you get a good view of those upper shelves. With this method of organization, your utility shed gains a lot more…well, utility!
Here are a few ideas on what you might want to store inside the utility shed that people often overlook. Saws, hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers are a given. Throw in masking tape, duct tape, a leveling tool, a tape measure, a triangle ruler, a protractor (which is a godsend during any building tasks), and enough markers to last a lifetime. You only really need one marker, but they tend to go missing. If you live in a very warm place, replace the markers with some large pencils so that the ink doesn’t burst and stain everything vanta black. A fire extinguisher, flashlights, ice scrapers, picks, work gloves, pressure gauge, and bike pump also serve some niche needs that might present themselves.
    Portable Storage Sheds
Sometimes, your backyard storage needs to be movable. You may only need it for a temporary event, or perhaps to protect your car from hail, or you might want to move it when you get the time to build a patio, or maybe you want to live on the go for a while and keep it in tow. There’s plenty of possibilities. Whatever the case, portable storage sheds help you make that happen. Portable storage sheds are universally small (they have to sit on the back of a truck, after all), and it’s not worth it to build a proper foundation for them. Portable sheds tend to cost more than permanent sheds, so if you just need a shelter for some of your stuff, I recommend…
A canopy or a garage tent. These large tarps use a shed-like frame to create a small garage or storage space for your stuff. Sometimes labeled as greenhouse tents, they don’t serve as a secure location for storing goods, but they do protect your stuff from the weather and keep it all in one place. If you live in a good neighborhood, one of these is more than enough for your needs. Plus, they cost less than $400…compare that to the thousands you would spend on a portable shed!
  Cheap Sheds
If you want cheap storage sheds, you have to put in some extra work. Good storage sheds range in price from $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the features you want. And, honestly, a $1,000 shed doesn’t cut it for most things. Of course, there are ways to cut down on these typical price tags without chopping the trees down yourself. This section guides you through building on a budget and helps people in every financial situation stow away a little money for things to put inside your shed!
Finding Materials for your Storage Shed on a Budget
The best way to find materials for your shed on a budget is to check out discount and clearance sections of big box stores. You’ll find all kinds of materials marked down for little things like a scratch or some unappealing patterns in the wood. Since you’ll be building the shed from scratch, these types of problems will likely go unseen in your finished product. As long as your materials look structurally sound and the price looks good, go for it.
Another great way to find cheap materials is to browse online trading sites like Craigslist. Many people give up on their projects or just find themselves with extra lumber. They really want to get it off their property. You can score a bunch of stuff just by trading some junk from your garage. Or, you could be lucky enough to get your materials for free! Always make sure these materials are properly treated and in a good condition before you start to build with them.
The last way I recommend saving money—and the way to go for people who don’t like buying used stuff—is to go straight to a local lumber yard. This cuts out the shipping and upcharge that big stores give you, plus it saves you the potential damage the wood would receive as it changes hands. Lumber yards carry all kinds of sizes, wood types, and may even cut some custom stuff for you if you show them your shed plans. Ultimately, they charge far less than any other place for brand new and fresh materials. No matter your financial situation, consider this your best option!
  Pre-made Sheds
Sometimes, the most expensive part of a shed is the time it takes to procure materials and build one yourself. Of course, hiring contractors is out of the question if you want to save money…but how do you build a shed without spending time or extra cash making it happen? Quite simply, you don’t. You purchase a pre-made shed! Lots of online and retail outlets offer pre-made sheds that they ship right to your door and place in your backyard. Since everything is built, any extra money is more like a delivery fee than a contractor fee. The building gets finished the moment it touches your yard.
The main downside to pre-made sheds is their small size. Obviously, a pre-made shed needs to fit on the road in order to get shipped around the nation. You might be able to find a very wide shed that looks more like a trailer, but that still hardly functions as a proper shed. They look a little more like storage closets. Another big disadvantage is their materials. They usually contain a lot of cheap wood and plastic to cut down on prices, which means more repairs in the long run.
If you dole out some extra money, then you can find some high-quality pre-made sheds to save yourself some time. If you don’t care about saving time and simply want the most cost-efficient method, skip the pre-made sheds.
  Storage Shed Kits
From simple garden shed kits to huge two-story sheds, storage shed kits save you the time of finding materials and help you build your shed quickly and efficiently. They cost less than fancy pre-made sheds or contract work, plus they look great. A few companies even allow for customization! Building from a storage kit takes very little time and the instructions provided also speed things along for people new to building. This is by far the best option for people who want to cut down on the price and the time spent without lowering the quality or building everything from scratch.
Furthermore, if you have a shed plan, it’s quite possible to get your own custom storage shed kit from local lumberyards. I’d be lying if I said all of them offered this service, but some of the more professional ones will gather your materials and cut some custom pieces of wood if you give them a list. That definitely saves you time and gets you exactly the sort of shed you want!
When a storage shed kit arrives at your door, simply check the quality of the materials. Then, set aside a day to get everything done. Storage kits typically come with walls pre-assembled, so it’s just a matter of picking out a spot and nailing everything together. Siding and roof tiles usually come separately, so you can pick out what sort of decoration (if any) you want the shed to have. No one can really tell the difference between a shed built out of a kit or a shed built out of scratch, especially if you choose a nice design. Definitely go with storage shed kits if you want to save some time without breaking the bank!
    Storage Shed Ideas
Do you have an old storage shed laying around and have no idea what to do with it? Maybe you have plenty of room in your garage, or perhaps you moved into a brand new property that contains a shed. Clearing out the shed to make room for the new also opens up possibilities. In any case, these shed storage ideas help you figure out what to do with that space. After all, you can use a shed for far more than storage, especially the bigger ones!
  Man Cave Shed
Hey, look what site you’re on. Clearly, I have a bias towards building man caves. Man cave sheds give you space all your own, separate from the house, and let you customize the room in ways you can’t do inside a home. For example, setting up a surround sound system is far easier when your ceiling opens up into the rafters. It gives you way more space to maneuver up there! Building a second story doesn’t fill the home with sawdust, plus, you can create a loft to make the man cave that much more impressive! For more ways to convert a shed into a man cave, check out my post here.
  Garage Shed
When you find the perfect home…minus a garage…don’t despair! Use a simple storage shed plan to create a garage of your own. Most storage sheds take up very little space and a ton of plans exist to ensure you stay within building codes of your area. You can opt for a single car garage or go all-out with a two-story four car garage shed! If you do make your garage two stories, make sure to include excellent ventilation and insulation. The fumes from the cars below can collect on the upper floor if the cars are left running.
  Workshop Shed
Building a workshop inside a house is just asking for trouble. Sawdust, paint splatters, loud noise, and grease stains are just a few things that ruin the coziness of a home. On top of that, any damage done by an active workshop detracts from the value of your home. By building a storage shed to serve as a workshop, the opposite is true—your home goes up in value and feels much more peaceful. The benefits of hosting your workshop outside include letting you mess up the room with the filth of dirty work and customizing it to suit your needs—even if it goes against a few building codes or your wife’s wishes!
  Gardening Shed
By adding in windows or skylights, your shed quickly becomes the perfect gardening environment! The warmth of a shed during winter keeps your plants safe. You only need to cover them if temperatures get extreme for long periods of time. During the summer, it’s easier to control the sunlight your plants experience. They won’t wilt as frequently if you can easily cover the windows or move them into the shade. Watering becomes easier and your shed just looks better.
You can continue to use portions of your shed for its original purpose—as a workshop, storage area, or otherwise. The plants filter out the air and keep it from getting to dusty or musky. It benefits you in the long run to have nice clear air to breathe as you use your shed. The only disadvantage of a gardening shed is that they get a little muggy at times. With a proper ventilation system and a few humidity and temperature monitors, you can negate that entirely.
  Barn
The biggest shed of them all, a barn actually fits the bill for a jumbo storage shed! To convert a shed into a barn, grab some extra lumber and divide the room as needed. Stalls or small rooms help keep it organized. While a storage shed deals with storing items, a barn deals with storing animals! Keep in mind that the health and happiness of the animals should be on your mind as you build the barn. Even one extra foot of space in the stable makes the difference between an aggressive stallion or a tame horse.
Another integral part of building a barn is making it easy to clean. Keep the floors smooth by using large boards of wood or loose gravel. Taking things in and out of the barn should not be more of a chore than it is already! Typically, you want to make the door as large as possible to accommodate your animals. Huge machinery needs an equally huge entrance. For more information, check out my dedicated post on building barns.
Making the Most Out of Your Storage Shed
Ultimately, your little storage shed helps you out with some big life problems. Whether you choose to house your cars or bikes with one or convert your shed into a man cave, these storage sheds provide some essential shelter and seclusion in a world that’s becoming busier by the moment. The effort you put into its function and appearance determines whether you created a mere shack or an essential addition to your property.
Hopefully this post helped you learn everything you need to know about building storage sheds and using them. Cutting down on material costs, finding the perfect plan, gathering the proper tools, and figuring out how to construct everything proves tricky the first time for everyone. If you have any questions about building a storage shed, please let me know in the comments section. I can help you and everyone else who has the same question!
Once you build your first shed, you store all of this knowledge. It comes back to you naturally with your next building project. My goal in writing this was to give you as much knowledge as possible. Next time, you’ll be able to improve all on your own! Good luck, and get building!

Dueling DIY: Before and Halfway Reveal?
My friend Charlotte and I are in a DIY battle to renovate our guest bedrooms. Catch the entire series here.
Hey folks! I’m sure you guys expected me to post this last Wednesday (sorry about that), but these last two weeks have been nuts!
My birthday was on the 1st… and like clockwork, I was hit with epic hayfever that left my face swollen, sneezing, and itchy. Not a pretty picture. It makes me feel miserable, and feel so lame, all at the same time. I think it’s the mundaneness of being taken down by tree dust. Or that I somehow manage to forget not to leave the house until June when I’m excited that spring has finally returned.
Still, I at least got to go out to dinner and put on a nice dress and flowers and all the mushy stuff with K, and I also got a new power tool (because he knows my love language, ha). I’ll get to why I was outside to make matters worse at the end of this post, but I need to give you a Dueling DIY update first!
As we touched on with the last update, Charlotte (of At Charlotte’s House) was thinking she was probably going to be done with her guest room makeover by our next scheduled post. And since her room was a little smaller than mine, it’s not exactly a surprise that the challenge is ending sooner than I’ll actually finish all the big builds in the room (I still have the built-ins to finish, plus two custom-made pieces of furniture to create for the double-duty use of this room… a lot going on!).
But, that isn’t really ever the point of Dueling DIY. I still plan to fully finish this room, but the goal is always to light a fire under my ass and actually make some progress after years of stalling. I think my room has done just that! So, it’s time to toot my own horn a little, fully furnished or not. Let’s go wall to wall and cover the biggest leaps forward that we’ve seen thus far, and what’s yet to come!
Before: boring and cluttered
During the “before” tour, I showed you a freshly cleaned-out room. Lots had been donated to Goodwill, which was a start, but the room had ZERO personality.
Progress: a cozy corner
I added a beautiful sage green to two of the walls, and a super pale gray to a third. A final wall will be painted after the built-ins are complete (and will match the wall on the right). But how awesome does this same corner look now compared to before? The picture ledges turned out exactly as I imagined, and got a ton of my artwork out of boxes. Win!
I also added DIY curtain rods to the window that have a nifty hanging rod built in, which allowed me to create some hanging planters. I still like them, but as you can see, I already switched them out. K made that call, actually… he didn’t like that they were deliberately hanging at different heights. Since this room will serve as his office space when he needs it (and I’m trying to make him feel welcome in what was my house exclusively for years), I made a switch to pre-made ones from Amazon, and will pick my battle another day.

Before: cluttered TV wall, too-hot room
ugly boob light
Clutter and a boob light… snore.
Progress: a place for remotes, a comfortable breeze
I know I’m not breaking the mold with these two upgrades, but adding another picture ledge beneath the TV and a bright, breezy ceiling fan (with remote) has made this room so much more comfortable to even be in! We removed the old visible storage as well, and there will soon be a custom-built piece to fit right under the TV and house a set of K’s vintage speakers. He is really excited to develop a piece for the blog, so I may give him the reigns with that one for his first project to share his design from his POV.
As for the little nook o’ nothin’ right next to the door, that space will get a few easy shelves for K’s vintage records and video games. When the built-ins are finished, we may switch what’s displayed where; but with all his stuff moved into the house in odd places, getting things out of the living room will be a step in the right direction!
Before: the bed wall
Progress: still “the bed wall”, but way cooler!
The Murphy bed has been talked about repeatedly already, but in the last two weeks, there have been two significant changes:
It’s painted the final color of the future built-ins; and
I’m working on the art on the front!
The green tape in the photo was a way to visually see what size art I want on the wall. The two smaller vertical pieces are where the handles need to be for optimal leverage. My goal with the art piece is to make it so that the handles are somehow incorporated into the art, so when closed, it looks like a really cool wall and not the exposed bottom of the bed. So far, here’s what it looks like!
Murphy bed wall art
Ignore the plywood scraps behind the art… that’s just a flat surface to work on. This is a happy stopping point until I get some input from K on what we should do next (I’m thinking of adding some scroll saw pieces so it’s got some geometric and swooping shapes to it). And as for where the handles fit…
I’ve cut out a place on each side that should fit right over the handles once installed! I cut these using a scroll saw and then glued them to another piece to keep them stable (that front part of the wood that hides the handle is super thin, so it would never hold on its own). It probably still looks a little confusing with the plywood in the background, but I’ll have a post dedicate to the entire DIY process once I figure out how the rest is going to look, stain it, etc.
Dueling DIY Vlog #4
Since this is the official end of Dueling DIY: Guest Room Gauntlet, I made one last vlog update as well! You will now find four episodes over on my YouTube channel, and I’ll be adding each of these to a playlist on the Dueling DIY: Guest Room Gauntlet tag in case you ever want to see them in sequence. If you want to see more about how I plan to make the art on the Murphy bed work too, I have a short clip of the handle placement, and wait for Charlie’s input around the 2:20 mark.
And as for that reason I was outside, getting attacked by hay fever demons? Here’s a sneak peek:
Things are finally happening with the new shed and platform deck! I’ve been planning things since last fall, and things are now majorly underway. These are the big reasons I was trying to make headway with the guest room before spring, since I knew that it would be way too hard to try to do the bulk of the Murphy bed and all this at the same time. I’ve decided that I’ll batch out the posts as two separate series (series-es? hehe) so I can give more details on things like pre-treated lumber (such as when to use ground contact, etc.), framing the walls, and all that. It’s all a huge learning process for me, so I’ll pass on as much info as I can (we’re still talking about structural details that will likely vary a good bit depending on location and what codes to follow, so it might be hard to answer specific questions if they haven’t applied to me/my yard).
That’s all for now, but check in again this week. My goal is to post every other day (including weekends) until all of the goings-on have been posted about, but I have several complex tutorials in my pipeline that I’ve been wanting to share, so it’s mostly a matter of how much sleep I get until the hay fever goes away (which unfortunately after a winter of not enjoying warm weather, makes it hard to stay inside!).
So, tell me: what have you been working on or planning that you’re really excited about?
P.S. One more thing: Charlotte and my friend Erin Spain have a podcast called North South Makers, and they asked me on as their first guest interview! You can check me out on Episode 34 right here. They’re also going to be my roomies at Haven in Charleston this July. I’ll be sure to include any road trip shenanigans when we do a recap.
