the timeline and expectations areound stories and how they happen in EAH severely angers me so a large part of my rewrite centers around the stories happening at different ages and kids at the school being in different parts of their stories

as for apple, does this make any sort of sense (its extremely convoluted sorry)

im aware its unreadable but im exhausted ill explain it better if anyone wants me to

ALSO im unsure if i want the poisoning to be raven or the evil queen (i think i want who it is to be a plot point rather than js what happens), but obvs the dwarves do a lot of the caring for apple anyway so it fits in the snow white lore mostly :3 and obviously EQ's motivations are a tad different in this version

and obviously this means apple and raven are half sisters but i dont think its gna end up being super duper relevant

#hmm. might change hero's since “the archer” feels quite plain compared to everyone else's #but “the bow” is silly and “the hunt” is off limits for obvious reasons 

could i suggest “the huntsman” as a possible alternative then? just hear me out!

it personally brings to mind the character from disney’s snow white, and judging by his most important scene, i’d say he’s a pretty worthy namesake!

(the scene is question is available on youtube; its only about 3 minutes long!)

the queen tells him to take snow white out to pick flowers somewhere in the woods, but he reacts with shock and apprehension when its revealed that she wants him to kill the girl.

the queen shuts him down with the threat of consequences if he fails, and he’s told to bring back the princess’ heart in a box as proof of his task.

(the symbol on it is pretty much just the stp logo, which is such a cool coincidence!)

when he comes face to face with snow white, he cant bring himself to do it. he falls to his knees and begs for forgiveness. 

he warns her about the queen and scares her into running away for own her safety. (if i recall correctly, he puts a pig’s heart in the box the queen gave him, which she was really mad about!)

and idk about u, but that sounds right up hero’s alley to me! he’s pretty reluctant about hurting the princess, especially in chapter 1, and he doesnt want us to follow the narrator blindly…

i almost forgot to add, the huntsman has a feather on his hat too, just like ur hero! he may not wield a bow, but he does wield a dagger, and isnt that just as appropriate?? :D

and thus concludes my tedtalk on why i think “the huntsman” would be a good alternate title for hero! this is just a suggestion tho, so take or leave it as u will ^^

i was planning on saving this for later but 🫴 voice lore crumb. you might have noticed that each of my voices were assigned their own costume/role, and i've given them all a second title

ONCE UPON A TIME...

⤷ a series re-imagining famous fairy tales with assorted genshin women !

⤷ featuring:

beauty and the beast [eula lawrence] ➳ on the edges of mondstadt, nestled in the frigid mountains of dragonspine, is a lonely, forgotten castle. word around town is that within the cold stone walls is a monstrous beast, a scion of the cursed lawrence family. you are content to live your days far ignorant of such a rumor, but when your father gets into a terrible accident in the mountains, you have no choice but to take your chances with whatever lurks in the castle to save him.

the little mermaid [raiden ei] ➳ the world above the water has always fascinated you. the tales of rolling hills and towering mountains, vast plains and mystical forests; and of course, the people. the people who sing and dance and run along the shore, carefree and lively. you wish, and you wonder, what it's like to be part of that world. your wish is granted somewhat on a stormy night, when a ship crashes against the rocks and scatters its human occupants to the waves. against what you've been told, you rush to save the one person you can find--a beautiful, purple-haired woman, dressed in fine, ornate clothing. it's a meeting that will change your life, forever.

snow white [arlecchino] ➳ your step-mother wants you dead. you know as much, when she cast you from your own home and into the cold woods, setting a hunstman on your tail. you barely escape with your life. the little cottage you stumble upon as you run, and the seven little fools you find inside become your saving graces. you spend your days there in peace, and even meet a handsome, dual-tone haired prince who passes by the cottage ever so often on her hunts. but peace, as you've learned, is fragile, and your world is upended again when your step-mother discovers that you're alive. and you can't help but wonder--is a happily ever after simply not in your cards?

rapunzel [beidou] ➳ when you were born, your parents gave you to a sea monster. you don't know why, and you were never told why. all you know is that you are this beast's prisoner, forever to be locked away in a tower by the sea. there is no escape for you; the only exit is the window, and the only thing waiting beneath it are jagged rocks and harsh waves. the beast comes and goes, ascending your tower using your hair as a rope. he calls your name in a singing rhyme, and you let down your hair. only one night, it is not the beast whom climbs through your window--but a charming, pretty pirate, who brings the first light of companionship to your life.

cinderella [jean gunnhildr] ➳ life is not easy after your mother's death. your father does his best, yet the woman he brings home to replace her is cruel. but she makes your father happy (or at least, you tell yourself as much) so you keep your head down and do as she and her daughters order you to. it isn't too bad. the attic is your refuge, and the barn mice keep you company. in the dark you gaze through the window at the glittering palace in the distance, and you let yourself dream of a sweeter life. but magic--magic has a way of turning dreams to reality, and there is more magic in your life than you know.

⤷ notes/disclaimers : ➹ this will not be a 1:1 retelling! i will of course do my best to be as close as possible to the source material, but since i will be incorporating genshin lore into this as well, i will be taking several creative liberties. also, some of the source material is... dark, and i'll be changing that because i personally don't enjoy writing dark content of that level. ➹ this is currently not the finalised list! i plan to add maybe two more characters, but i have yet to figure out how to work their corresponding fairy tales. ➹ unfortunately, there won't be a upload schedule! as much as i wish i could write only this for the next few weeks, i have other life things to handle, so i'll only be working on this in my free time. nonetheless, i'll do my best to get them up as soon as i can.

Venti's Disney Princess Traits are Lore-Relevant

Credit to Ashikai, specifically in their YouTube livestream discussing the Genshin 3.7 preview stream

So, in the stream today, Ashikai mentioned the idea that Mondstadt is a city of fairytales - with Klee being Little Red Riding Hood, Razor being the Big "Bad" Wolf, and Lisa being a storybook witch.

Finally, my interest in the old versions of fairy tales is relevant!

I believe Venti is Snow White.

Plenty have joked about Venti having a "Disney Princess Moment" when he talked to animals (as witnessed by NPC Sage). I wanna focus on his preference for Apples.

(Venti liking eating the Christian symbol for Original Sin is a whole separate essay, that I believe others have written before)

I believe Venti represents Snow White, the 7 dwarfs the people of Mond, and the Traveler the prince. Who's the Evil Queen? Uncertain.

What Happens in Snow White Again??

Snow, a princess so-named because of her pale skin and black hair, is sentenced to death by her stepmother, the evil queen. The queen wants the hunstman to kill Snow in the woods, and bring back Snow's heart, either as proof that she's dead or so that the queen can eat it to achieve immortality. Snow begs for her life, and escapes to live with the 7 dwarfs. The queen finds out, disguises herself, and, in the original tale, makes 3 attempts to kill her:

1st, with a corset she laces so tight, Snow can't breathe. 2nd, with a poisoned comb she runs through Snow's hair. And finally, with a poisoned apple.

In the first 2 attempts, the dwarfs return, unlace the corset/remove the apple, and Snow wakes up quickly. In the 3rd, the dwarfs cannot figure out what's wrong, and believe she's dead. She is asleep until the prince happens to come by, and wakes her up (how he does this varies by version).

How Does This Relate to Venti?

To my knowledge, Venti has fallen asleep 3 times after achieving archonhood: once after the fall of Decarabian, once after the fall of the aristocracy, and once after the fight with Durin.

After the first 2 sleep periods, the people of Mond were able to wake him up with their prayers. After the 3rd sleep period, he was badly poisoned, and was only healed after the Traveler came along and purified him.

Exactly how/why Venti sleeps so long is unknown to us, but now I'm inclined to say it's involuntary, and in fact caused by Celestia, in order to keep him complacent.

The Evil Queen, Seeking Snow White's Heart

Mayhaps the Evil Queen wanting Snow's heart, and getting a false one, is representing the Tsaritsa sending La Signora to take Venti's gnosis, and (in this case) getting a fake gnosis. This supports the theory that Venti did indeed keep his real gnosis.

Or, to keep with the timeline and happen way before he goes to sleep:

Mayhaps it represents the Anemo Authority.

Maybe it represents the time powers he has thanks to Istaroth, and even Celestia doesn't know the true extent of Venti's power.

Kalim, Rook and Silver all have light cosmic magic because they are the good counterpart of their movie.

Kalim as the Sultan in Aladdin, Rook as the Hunstman in Snow White and Silver as Sleeping Beauty in the film.

A surprisingly good article--and how good is it to see someone other than me appreciate Sam as William in Snow White and the Huntsman. It's not a big role but he nailed it perfectly.

I think though that that ship has sailed, I don't see him play a Disney prince again, more likely a captain of the guards type of character, or something like that. He could play a father to a prince or a princess when he's older. (Although... Hans in Frozen, dammit now you made me think. I love Frozen.)

Design Notes

Honestly love the earthy tones of the event but the designs weren't my personal fav😅

For this design, Haze requested an outfit that fit with the event's colour schemes but wanted something that gave more princely/bodyguard vibes

The first major deviation from the event's canon designs is giving more minimalist jewelry. I gave her more bracketed or quadrilateral embellishments because the event's overall design was much more boxier in shape (sans Vil). The jewelry is also more spread out on the design as accents instead of the main centrepiece

From the fan translations I've read, the accessories were a focal piece but Haze and I personally didn't feel like the embellishments were the focal piece and instead distracted from the clothing

The second was how the fabric was shaped. I wanted a boxier shape to show that Yuu was still a bodyguard and had a certain toughness in her runway design

Themes of Snow White's Huntsman: The red cap feather as a hair accessory, golden arrows as hairpins, the intricate heart arrow earring, turned the black straps into golden waist chains, the red arrow on the tie, and mimicked the darker eyes of the Hunstman as smoky make-up

Themes of Snow White's Prince: The white cap feather as a matching hair accessory, the golden bracelet with the Prince's dagger as a charm, the red lining of the coat to mimic the prince's red cape, and the puffiness of his hair

Been watching a ton of Dimension 20 lately and got super obsessed with Neverafter! So I made some concepts for characters using preexisting ocs as jumping off points~

Hansel and Gretel, but in this setting they kill and eat the witch instead of just killing her, and become candy witches themselves. They’re based off of my twin ocs, Buzz and Quinn (previously named Buck and Gwen)

The Tooth Fairy, but more inspired by the French and Spanish versions where the fairy is a mouse! She’s based off of my oc Chai

Snow White and the Hunstman as a Necromancer/Bard and Barbarian/Ranger respectfully. Yes I used my boys Sam and Benny for those lol

Something I really like in the House of Mouse AU is that the OG sidekicks have really taken a shine to their twisted counterparts

Like the Queen of Hearts’ card soldiers treating the twst!card soldiers as little brothers

The Cheshire Cat treating Che’nya as though they’ve been best friends for life

Shenzi, Banzai and Ed adopting Ruggie into their cackle

Flotsam and Jetsam just absolutely loving Floyd and Jade

Aladdin’s carpet enjoys playing with Kalim’s carpet

Queen Grimhilde’s crow likes to hang around with Epel sometimes (I know Epel represents the apple but technically the crow was there when the poisoned apple was made so technically it counts)

Humbert the Huntsman is too terrified of Rook to say anything so he just sits there in traumatised silence

The OG seven dwarfs being grandpas to the twst!seven dwarfs

Maleficent’s goblin minions having a blast whenever they see Sebek (again I know that he’s Maleficent’s lightning but they get zapped with lightning so it works)

It’s nice and cute watching the villains grow soft for Yuu and their twisted selves but these henchmen have their own counterparts as well that their protective of

The villains are rooting for their boys, but the sidekicks are going "One of us! One of us!" :D

I like to think Lucius and Lucifer are just napping together somewhere. Like they found a nice to curl up in and are just chilling.

I feel like Humbert the Hunstman is just really awkward, ya know? He didn't want to kill Snow White, he let her go, he doesn't know why he's here counting as a henchman. He figured Rook was a nice enough guy, but also he says some off putting things and this man is scared. He just wants to home tbh.

Sebek is trying, key word there is trying, to bring some order to Maleficents goblin henchmen. But after learning that babies do grow after sixteen years, they still horribly misunderstood and are under the impression that Sebek is a big baby wanting to be a grown up. So his attempts to bring order are met with "Aww! Look at him! He's trying to be a big boy now!"

Also you know the episode where Pinocchio starts hanging out with Pain and Panic and they're being a bad influence on him? That. But with Ortho. They like him, don't get me wrong, but they also want him to loosen up and have, what they think, is a good time.
