Saying this as someone who spends a lot of my time searching for new queer bands and has a whole spreadsheet of almost 1000 queer bands + artists -

Why are trans mascs so adverse to making music in styles that are not commercially viable?

#there are so many queer people across the gender spectrum in so many different genres EXCEPT for trans mascs #why do they all make music that without the lyrics could just be the punk band in a coming of age disney channel original movie in the 00s #crouch speaks #i can name one trans masc noise artist (victim unit) and two grindcore bands with trans masc members (kissies and ballstomper)#its like. every trans masc musician is either doing riot grrl/ghoul or pop punk #or folk punk #and thats it. like. you can do music that wont get you a support slot for MCR one day. you dont have to be pallettable enough for a car ad

And then I remember that as a kid, 7-10ish, every Wednesday night I would struggle to pick if I wanted to watch nature documentaries on PBS or The Big Bang Theory

IT accidentally put my email on the traffic scheduling list for the entire station. So I asked for it to be removed. Then they put my email on the traffic confirmation list for the entire station. Now I've deleted my email from my phone.

Basically, it's over 120 emails per day now flooding my work inbox.

For something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with my job.

And they refuse to take me off it.

#i produce; voice act; edit; shoot; light; write; and handle marketing materials i don't fucking handle broadcast traffic #and it isn't just one channel it's three channels and two radio stations #that's not just emails confirming every single time slot #it's every single time slot plus every single ad that plays during commercial breaks #and every single element of programming on our app #THIS ISN'T MY JOB #and the emails bury work that IS my job

holy shit. Hunan tv's nye stage is the craziest thing ive ever seen they fucking built an almost full scale city block of high rises plastered with LED screens in that?? Concert venue?? Sound stage??? an actual street outside?? whatever it is theyve outdone themselves again. I wonder how much all the channels spend on their nye performance in total every year bc every year they are spending money like the world is gonna end the next day

#and four main channels are fighting for viewership in that same time slot. crazy #most fun stages in a year in c-ent are these. cos chinese new years is sometimes too serious and theyre not big concerts #theres skits and speeches and sketches and dances and stuff in the middle #not as much of a party #sidney talks shit

Not my first memory watching Coraline, but I remember when it was on the TV every Thursday at 11 at night, and so once a week my father would wake me up to go downstairs and watch it because it was my favorite movie. I fell in love with the story and colors, and never got any nightmares from it :)

Happy anniversary, Coraline!

Coraline is officially 15 years old today!

I'll never forget when it came out on DVD and I first watched it with my brothers at night with the lights turned off. I was of course really freaked out by it, but my oldest brother seemed pretty calm throughout the whole film. He normally didn't get scared easily. But the very next morning, he came downstairs for breakfast and told us he'd had a nightmare about the Beldam running at him screaming.

I don’t know anything about how Japanese dramas are produced but it really does feel like the Love Live! School Idol Musical The Drama was meant to have more episodes (or at least they hoped it would do well enough) and then was told to quickly wrap things up.

like if that didn’t happen then idk what is up with the pacing

#especially because if they already knew it’d be six episodes - thats short enough to write the whole thing at once #which usually results in much more consistent and tight pacing #instead we have six 24 minute episodes and the last heavily used flashbacks - almost like they were trying to shoot as little as possible #and the plot is fairly light early on and then rushed at the end idk I think the plug was pulled on this one #can someone explain Japanese live action tv to me? Is this why it was so hard to find an episode order count before it started?#maybe it existed and I didn’t look hard enough but I know tv is different there - slots are rented #the channels are more like landlords and the studios more like tenants (but as a result ad sales go to the studios I think?)#it’s been a while since I looked into it though I could be getting stuff wrong #but it changes the business a bit in terms of like who is in charge of canceling things and why that kind of call is made #love live school idol musical the drama #love live musical drama #but yeah idk how episode count is determined in Japanese dramas and idk who makes that call and when #looking back on some of the ones I’ve watched I wouldn’t be surprised if the episode orders are much smaller than US/Canada and even the UK #like batches of three or less. just something about the pacing. I feel like either the tension is constant or the ending comes out of nowhe #whereas US standard *used to be* 13 with a ‘back 9’ ordered if the show did well for a total of 22 per season #but few networks run that way anymore. in the streaming era it’s more like 8-13 or even less. sad. give me back my regular shows #and give my friends back their reliable jobs please #sorry I’m rambling in the tags #posting in the weeds

I honestly think cable could make a fucking killing if they just restructured a little bit

#Manage the ads better so that you don't have the same one playing multiple times in one commercial break #Better channel bundles or if possible just let people pick and choose like basic cable is x number of channels that everyone with cable has #plus 10 channels that you pick and more expensive plans give you more slots #On demand is included but dvr is an add on #Like I think part of the reason people have gotten so weird about ads is that they're in places they're not supposed to be/didn't use to be #But cable/network tv is exactly where ads are supposed to be #Like there used to be funny ads and now they're all just viewed as an inconvenience and imposition
