breaking the bed
(cw: age gap 25/41, nsfw, MDNI, smut)
the part before: gaming with him
I stir awake.
A stray strand of dark hair is tickling my nose. I push it out the way, not really able to move, because two strong arms are wrapped around me. The one is hugging my waist tight, while the other is a pillow for my head. I’m fully engulfed by him.
I turn my head to look at him. His brows are furrowed, even when he's peacefully sleeping like this. Deep breaths, the puffs of air hitting my naked shoulder. The tiniest snores dropping from his lips. His chest expands with every breath, his warm skin against my back. He's spooning me in my sleep. Like the biggest spoon there ever was.
I suppress a giggle, pushing my cheek into his tattooed arm. With a sigh, I snuggle myself against the big burly man. And he might not be awake yet, but one part of him sure is.
I press my ass up against him, rubbing myself on him. Grinding ever so slightly in an effort to stir him awake. And it works like a charm. He hums softly, a little yawn on his lips, as he pulls me even closer to him.
"Good morning.", I whisper, when he presses soft kisses to my face and neck, which make me squirm and shiver.
"A good morning indeed.", he grumbles. His hips are rolling against me now, pressing his length into the swell of my ass, hot and heavy. A little dollop of precum is spreading on my cheek, as he rubs himself on me. His hands roam my body, while I grind into his movements, soft sighs falling from my lips. I look back at him, my fingers tangle in his hair, pulling him towards me, into a longing kiss, while he is gently stroking down my tummy, right to where I want him to be.
It starts off as soft and slow morning sex, but that doesn't last long.
My back is arched back, my face pressed into the mattress, my fingers tangled in the sheets, desperately trying to hold on. My ass up in the air, as he pounds into my pussy.
The whole bed is shaking, the headboard thudding against the wall with each of his thrusts.
Donk. Donk. Donk.
He pulls back every time, almost sliding out of me, only to push in hard again. His hands gripping my hips, jerking me against him. The full impact of his thrusts against my thighs and ass, his dick hits me deep inside, the intense feeling of the tip nudging against the sensitive spot while he fills me to the brim is pulling loud moans from my throat. I'm just praying that my walls are thick enough, so my neighbors won't hear every-thing.
"Fuck, you feel so good.", he groans and my answer is nothing but fucked-out, whiny mewls.
The bed is aching, but I don't even notice it, the pleasure coursing through me, dictating my every thought while my eyes turn up from the hard fuck.
Krieks.
Slam.
Dunk.
And suddenly the mattress isn't propped up on the bedframe anymore. It tumbles down onto the floor, the slats breaking with loud bursts.
König falls forward as the bed breaks, almost squishing me before he can prop himself up on his arms. I shriek from the sudden movement, getting pushed forward.
He slips out of me, as I turn to look at him, our faces painted in shock. And we both realise what just happened.
"So a Scheiß, ah, fuck, I'm so fucking sorry.", he curses, sounding as sorry as he says he is, trying to get up from the mattress in between the broken parts of the bedframe.
But I can only laugh, the laughter shaking my whole body, that was at the brink of orgasm just moments ago.
“We broke the bed.”, I wheeze, in between bursts of laughter, when he finally finds his footing again, straightening up. He holds his hands out to pull me to my feet as well.
“Well, I think that’s my fault.” He assesses the damage, the big naked man looking at the less than sturdy bedframe, the broken slats. I mean, I didn't buy the most expensive one. But this is kind of ridiculous.
I shake my head, still laughing a bit. Breaking the bed. I look to the side up at him and I can tell that this is making him feel bad. It’s written on his face.
"Don't worry about it, it's just a piece of furniture.", I tell him, trying to push some of his guilt away.
"You're not mad?", he asks, a little incredulous.
"No, not really. There are worse things.", I tell him, truthfully, adding then: "Though I would still like to have a bed to sleep in."
"Yeah, what are we gonna do about that? I don't think, I can fix it up, it's... Too broken for that.", he says, scratching the back of his head.
I shrug. "I'm just gonna take the mattress and sleep on the floor, until I can get a new frame.", I say.
His expression falls, the concerned look turning into a frown, his brows drawing together. "Fuck, no. I can't let you sleep on the fucking floor after I broke your fucking bed."
"While fucking.", I add pointedly, amused with how he drops the curseword like it's a comma.
"I'm being serious.", he says, not seeming amused at all. A little exasperated.
"It's not a big deal, okay?", I try to reassure him. "I'll be fine."
"Hell, no, I can’t let you sleep on the floor."
"Then what?"
"Stay at my place."
"But-"
"Just until we get it sorted out and get you a new bed.", he says. Calmly, but adamant, even though I can see a hint of uncertainty in his eyes.
"You sure?", I ask hesitantly.
He nods. "I'd even sleep on the couch, if that what it takes to convince you.”, he tells me, his thumb softly stroking over my cheek before the pulls back. “No obligations, of course.", he adds.
I shoot him a look, like 'don't be ridiculous'. "You don't need to sleep on your couch in your own home." He probably wouldn’t even fit on there, lying down.
"Yeah, and you don't need to sleep on the floor, just because I broke your bed.", he retorts.
"While fucking me.", I repeat my quip, looking up at the tall, still very naked man.
The corner of his mouth quirks up. "While fucking you.", he says, nodding along.
I laugh and press myself against him. "Has anybody ever told you that you're cute?", I mumble against his pec, my face nuzzling into the pillowy muscle, the dark curls on there tickling my nose.
He chuckles. "No?" Of course not.
I open one eye and look up at him. "Well, then ask yourself why that is.", I joke, which makes him shake with a small deep laughter. And I feel a little better as well cause he doesn't seem as angry with himself. He has no reason to be.
Grinning up at the laughing man, one thought still is on my mind. "And you sure about this?", I reiterate my question.
"Yes, don't worry about it, we will be fine.", he says, leaning down a bit and pressing a kiss to my forehead.
I nod. "Okay. Mimi also needs to come with, though.", I bring up then. I can't leave my cat here, alone.
He thinks for a second, then grins at me. "Can I make another confession?"
"What?"
"This was all a ploy to steal the little furball.", he says, hiding his joking grimace under a mask of seriousness.
"The nerve!", I exclaim jokingly, my hand spanking his butt, once, but as hard as I could, which earns me a hefty pat on my ass as well.
It's settled then.
I get myself ready for work, packing some of the stuff I'll need, and saying goodbye to König for now, because the whole ordeal made me late – again.
"See you later.", he says, dropping another kiss to my lips before getting into his car, a box with some of my necessities on the passenger seat.
"Laters!" I wave after him.
Later when I'm gonna bring the rest of my stuff to him. Mimi as well. To stay at his place because he broke my fucking bed fucking me. I shake my head, shooting my friend Robin a text. They'll never believe me.
next part: wearing glasses or more stuff in the Masterlist~
a/n: this goes out to my moots on tumblr and discord who put the idea in my mind of him breaking furniture while fucking <3

Game Night With The Crows
Tumblr media
so @padfoot-lupin77 i am still a bit confused about the whole re-blogging thing (since i joined Tumblr, quite recently-) but the idea caught me and grew in me like the most resilient disease *starts blabbering about Inception* *please ignore* ... well, anyways .... here i am!
Hope you like it!!
.‱°☆°‱.
Summary: The Crows take a break from their usual schemes to play a game of Monopoly, in which without a doubt, Kaz dominates.
***
The Slat was unusually quiet. The kind of quiet that always put Jesper on edge. Kaz was in his office, working through a stack of papers, while Inej sharpened her knives at the corner table. Wylan and Nina were huddled over some new schematics for a job, and Matthias stood guard by the door, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of trouble.
Jesper, unable to sit still any longer, wandered over to Kaz's office and knocked on the open door. "Kaz, we need a break."
Kaz didn't look up from his work. "A break?" he repeated, his tone flat.
"Yes, a break. You know, something to take our minds off the constant scheming and plotting." Jesper leaned against the doorframe, his usual grin in place, "how about a game night?"
"Yes! Monopoly, to be precise. Let's see who really knows how to make a fortune," Jesper suggested with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
Kaz glanced at the papers on his desk, then back at Jesper. After a long moment, he sighed. "Fine. But only for a couple of hours."
Jesper's grin widened. "Perfect. I'll get the others."
Jesper practically bounced back into the main room, where the others looked up curiously. "Guess what? Kaz agreed to a game night!"
Nina laughed. "You actually convinced him? This I have to see."
Matthias looked skeptical. "The demjin playing a game? I’ll believe it when I see it."
Wylan lan's eyes lit up at the mention of Monopoly. "I’m in. It’ll be nice to do something normal for once."
Inej smiled softly, her curiosity piqued. "I’ll play."
With everyone in agreement, they gathered around the largest table in the Slat, clearing off maps and blueprints to make room for the game. Jesper spread out the Monopoly board while Nina and Matthias brought waffles from the kitchen.
Kaz emerged from his office, looking slightly bemused but not entirely displeased. He took a seat at the head of the table, watching as the others chose their pieces.
"I'll be the thimble," Inej said, picking up the small metal piece.
Jesper grabbed the race car, of course. "Vroom vroom, here comes the winner!"
Nina picked the dog, Matthias took the hat, and Wylan chose the boot. Kaz, with a resigned air, took the battleship.
"Let's get this over with," Kaz muttered, though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.
The game began with its usual mix of excitement and strategy. Jesper was the first to land on Boardwalk, a broad grin spreading across his face. "Looks like I'm building an empire!"
"Not if I can help it," Wylan said, eyeing the other properties strategically.
Nina and Matthias engaged in playful banter as they moved their pieces around the board. "You always pick the dog," Matthias observed.
"It brings me luck," Nina replied with a wink.
Kaz played with the same ruthless efficiency he brought to everything else, quickly accumulating properties and planning his moves several turns in advance. "Luck is for amateurs," he said as he landed on Park Place, solidifying his hold on the board.
At one point, Kaz bought up a whole block of properties, and Jesper couldn’t resist a comment. "Looks like Brekker’s Investments are expanding."
Kaz glanced up, "It's all about knowing where to invest your resources," he said, his gaze briefly flickering to Inej, who rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless.
His eyes lingered on to Inej...
Inej...
Her quiet strength, the way she held herself with such grace and confidence, always struck him. Her dark hair fell in soft waves, framing her face perfectly. When she smiled, even the most hardened part of him seemed to soften.
She was more than just an investment.
Her eyes caught his, and for a fleeting second, the world outside of their little circle ceased to exist.
Her smile was like a rare glimpse of sunlight in the dreary streets of Ketterdam, and Kaz found himself caught in its warmth. He wondered —
Nina’s voice cut through his thoughts like a knife. "Kaz, are you daydreaming about Inej’s strategy or just imagining your next romantic move? It's your turn," she teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Kaz blinked, realizing he had almost missed a crucial move. He quickly rolled the dice and made his play, landing on a property he had been eyeing for several turns. With swift precision, he bought it up, adding another piece to his growing empire.
As the night wore on, the board became a battlefield of hotels and houses. Kaz, unsurprisingly, was in the lead, but the others put up a valiant fight. Jesper, true to form, made a few reckless moves, much to Wylan’s dismay.
"You’re supposed to be good at this!" Wylan exclaimed as Jesper handed over another stack of cash to Kaz.
"I’m good at making things exciting, merchling" Jesper replied with his usual grin.
As Kaz placed his final hotel on Boardwalk, sealing his victory, Jesper groaned.
"Next time, we’re playing something that doesn’t involve you bankrupting us all."
"We’ll see about that."
Even in victory, Kaz allowed himself a rare moment of relaxation, knowing that sometimes, even the sharpest minds needed a break.

Prompt: “I might have had a few shots.”
For Jesper x Reader please!!
Bottom Of The Barrel, And The Bottle - Jesper Fahey
Content Warnings: Alcohol. Drunk Jesper. Suggestive Content. Angst. Not Beta/Proof Read.
Tumblr media
You can tell Jesper has had far too much to drink before he even opens his mouth, the lopsided grin as he leans in the doorway is a dead give away, that and you know how bad the last few days have been for him. You're almost impressed that he took it to the tavern and not to the tables, but even as the lesser of two evils, it's still evil.
Jesper has a tendency to collect bad habits and coping mechanisms like they're a rare art form, and with that in mind you have a pretty well formed idea of what he is doing at your doorstep.
"Have I told you lately that you’re completely gorgeous?" he leaves spaces between the last three words, expanding his hands in front of his chest for emphasis, and that's the last piece of evidence you need as to why he is here.
"Go home Jesper," you tell him. He frowns. You turn to look at him properly, his buttons of his shirt are undone lower than he would usually have them, which tells you how he has been fiddling with them as he drinks, and he keeps pushing the sides of his jacket back behind him, attempting to rest his hands on his hips, but forgetting what he is doing almost instantly. "You are drunk."
“I might have had a few shots.” His admission is matched with a waving dismissal as he steps inside and closes the door behind him.
"Jesper," you warn him, extending his name in a harsh tone.
"Come on, can't say you're not happy to see me," he says.
"I am always happy to see you," you tell him, "I just prefer it when you haven't drunk the entire barrel."
"I have had a few shots," he defends. "I still could hit any target."
"That says nothing of your sobriety," you inform him. He looks at you, sat at your desk, you've shed some of the clothing from work earlier, enough to make you look less official, less put together, but not enough that you're not presentable in that, tired, shirt half tucked into trousers, top button undone, hair slightly messy from the stress type of way. Jesper doesn't have a day where it doesn't occur to him just how good you look, but he isn't sure he remembers a time you've looked quite this good. In an attempt to tell you that, you just roll your eyes at him. "It's the alcohol," you tell him. "You see this pretty face perfectly often enough to know that."
"Your perfect face is the least beautiful thing about you," he says, and if he weren't so drunk, you might think that was quite a compliment.
"Do you need me to walk you home?" you're teasing him, but the offer has hints of sincerity.
"You want to take me home?" he asks, all flirt and no attention to the atmosphere of the room. Normally you revel in Jesper's flirting, you take comfort in it, it fills you with butterflies and makes you smile so much your cheeks hurt. But you hate this. This makes you feel on edge. He is drunk, and you know Jesper can say a lot of things he doesn't mean when he is halfway down a bottle, you've seen an argument or two he has had with Kaz this way, and they were never pretty. "In that outfit you could have anyone you want," he says, without even giving his mind a chance to vet the words.
You reach for a jacket. "Okay, enough, that's it, I am taking you back to the slat, and you're going to be someone else's problem," you say, you don't mean it exactly, but the flirting with you when he is like this is almost painful. Jesper is an endless flirt, flirting is more natural to him than breathing, but normally it's easy to take it in stride. It's something he does, with everyone. You don't take it personally, or at least you tell yourself you don't. Your own feelings for Jesper are complicated enough without having to think about them too hard.
"You like me being your problem," he counters. You do, but not in the way he is suggesting, you like that he comes to you. You like that he reaches for you because it means that he knows the reality of your care for him, which is rare to express and even rarer to believe in the barrel. What you don't like is that he is here, on your doorstep, drunk and stirring up a whole bunch of feelings you have but don't have time for. "You belong with me," your hand stills just above the handle of your door, not really able to process anything as you hear those words, "or even under me. consensually, of course," Jesper says, "or on top of me if you'd rather." The illusion shatters with that and you remember to breathe.
"Jesper," you open your door and grab his arm, "for all your smooth talk, you've never learned when to stop."
You get him almost to the door of the slat before he pushes your buttons again, grabbing your wrist, pulling you in close with a smirk. "You really want to ship me off?" he asks. You look into those eyes and you feel fit to combust, how can he not understand how unfair this is on you?
"Jesper, stop," two simple words but said with such affront that Jesper feels sobered up by the resent.
"Hey gorgeous," he says, his voice sounding more like his again, "I am sorry if I have upset you."
"You haven't," you drag in a breath, not having it in you to make the sharpshooter understand, "look just, you're drunk and you're saying things, and I... I wish you weren't."
Regret, that's the look you notice on Jesper's face, one you recognise well, and he doesn't know how to hide it, alcohol still running all his inhibitions down, he has no clue what to say to make this better, he doesn't know how to apologise or exactly what he is apologising for, but he knows he needs to. "I'm sorry," he says slowly.
You take a step away from him, leaning to knock on the door, not doubting that Inej has probably already heard you in the commotion but wanting to be sure someone is there to take Jesper inside before you leave, he watches your movements in silence. "I don't want your apologies Jes," you say, as the door opens. "I just wish you were sober."

cruel summer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
genre: fluff, angst au: non-idol au warnings: none word count: 0.5k   pairing: gn!reader x lee minho song: cruel summer by taylor swift mini series: cruel summer // august // betty // cardigan // the 1 a/n: the reader in this is not the same reader as betty or cardigan. this reader is minho’s summer friend.
DEVILS ROLL THE DICE, ANGELS ROLL THEIR EYES.
The soda can lands against the door of the vending machine with a thunk. When you bend down to grab it, you ask Minho again, “You sure you don't want anything? I can pay for you, you know.”
As expected, he replies, “I’m good. Pier or beach?”
“Pier.”
You walk side-by-side with him and take special care to not look at him. You’re not supposed to look at him. Not even when the sunset is in your eyes, when there’s nowhere else to turn your head. You’re just friends. Friends don’t look at each other the way you look at him.
You keep your gaze steady on the wooden planks. You feel every bump and whorl under your sneakers. Through the slats, you watch the tides lap at the sand, desperate to make it farther than the dark border painted on by their predecessors. It would be so easy if friendship had an easily discernible line. At least you would know if you were toeing it. Instead, you have to rely on instincts and hope that you’re on the safe side. The right side. But the more time you spend with Minho, the more you want to leap over the blurry gray area and into definitive love.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing,” you say too quickly. When he snorts, you admit, “You.”
“Me?”
It’s only one syllable, but you hear his amusement curling around it like smoke. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, but Minho has always been good at luring you to the flames. You’ll make a joke, he’ll laugh at it, you’ll take another step into forbidden territory.
“Yeah,” you reply. You lean against the metal railing and finally crack open your can of soda. “Why are you always chewing bubble gum?”
He chuckles and shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans to search for his pack of gum. Another question you could have asked: “Why do you insist on wearing jeans in the summer?”
“I’m not chewing gum right now,” he says. “I don’t know. Gives my mouth something to do, I guess. Want one?”
While you shake your head, he takes one for himself. With the same amusement in his voice, he says, “I bet you’re just jealous ‘cause you can’t blow bubbles.”
“That’s not true.”
“I’ve never seen you do it before. Do it now.”
He doesn’t know about the smoke in his voice and its effects on you. You feel it tugging at your wrists and almost take a stick of gum. Instead, you catch yourself in time and lamely answer, “I should drink my soda before it goes flat.”
“Knew it. Watch this.”
Like he commands, you watch with tamed envy as the pink bubble between his lips gradually expands. It would be so easy to make the wrong choice right now, to kiss the other side bubble and pray that he doesn’t pull away when it pops.
So, so easy.
WHAT DOESN’T KILL ME MAKES ME WANT YOU MORE.

💔  // for Marco, why not?
There were bodies and bodies and bodies down here, desiccating behind sighing walls, scurrying along sunless streets. Cities on the surface were built on a foundation formed of pocketed catacombs. Marco imagined the world above pressing down, pinning them to this dusty and depleted mattress. Buried together a mile underground, a pair of paupers in the suffocating squash of a communal grave. Where did one set of remains end, where did the other begin? Did it matter? Beneath all the smiles and sinew, they were only bones.
Nobody came to the underground to find themselves. Marco watched as the walls warped, the spaces between the slats expanding and contracting like trusty bellows, the room breathing around them. He lost himself in those shadows, where a thousand eyes rolled in their bloodless sockets, creasing as they squeezed shut – anything rather than look at him. It made sense that this place was haunted, that he was haunted. Bertholdt had appeared to him as a ghost long-limbed and lean. Eyes that familiar nimbus-grey, dark head strung with kaleidoscopic starlight. No longer the corpse seen hung like a deer carcass, but still just as gaunt, and older. A figment of imagination, of strange longing.
Even the most mundane of days proved a little death, a shedding of skin. In the wake of cataclysm, Marco barely recognised himself. Laid back on the sunken ruin of the bed, he was anchored only by the peach velvet of Bertholdt’s smoky voice, by the point where the toes of his booted feet touched the floor. Without these, he was sure to turn to water, to pour away through the cracks. His headache persisted – he was aware of it hammering at the backs of his eyes – although he no longer felt the pain. Coderoin flooded his blood, desensitised the flesh, thinned the veil. Through it, he could touch the face of the boy who had died in Trost, bright-eyed and able-bodied.
It had started with the terrible intimacy of a tourniquet, the poke and pierce of a needle shared. Come with me, Marco had pleaded. It won’t hurt. Marco had been the one to administer the poison into the fat bulge of a vein. Marco had been the one to whisper encouragement and quiet promise as he guided Bertholdt back onto the dust-stricken mattress. First times required reassurance, the gentleness he possessed in spades.
Blurred at the edges, a raw nerve temporarily cauterised, but even so he was aware of the heat and weight of Bertholdt’s hand squeezing the meat of his thigh. His warmth had always drawn them in. During the days of their training, cadets had slept curled around Bertholdt in grateful heaps. On nights beneath stars, on nights beneath tarpaulin canopies. Now, on a night far beneath the earth.
No physical proximity could compare to the baring of souls. They bled out, exposing their ugliest parts. They spoke of everything and nothing – of machinations far beyond their control, of wheels that turned and ground common people to a pulp, of forgiveness and friendships and oceans of hurt. Still, they reached out across the water. Why had he not lost the eye that allowed him to see the good in everyone?
The spectre of Bertholdt Huber stroked him like a wounded animal, hand sliding deeper into the furrow between thigh and groin. His white button-up shirt had unfastened in a split sea, laying spread open against the bedsheets like the feeble wings of a dying dove, a malformed angel. Bertholdt’s golden hand detoured, smoothing over the constellations of freckles, the taut muscle, the supple leather of the shoulder brace hugging his pectoral. Wherever he touched, he left trails of embers, shimmering stains of heat. It didn’t matter that Marco was a patchwork, a hare shaken dead by a terrier, a doll disarticulated. It didn’t matter that he was held together by thread.
A sedated sigh escaped him. He felt no shame in his arousal, did not flinch when the palm-flat touch moved over the fly-front of his white trousers, rubbing where he grew heavy, stiff. They had been boys together, they had weathered the storm of adolescent hormones, sharing early mornings and surviving communal showers. Those memories came in sharp focus and technicolour, brighter and clearer than anything that followed the battle of Trost. Still, the truth remained that nothing he possessed could surprise Bertholdt.
Or almost nothing.
Marco forgave – forgave it all – even if he could not speak for Armin, for Mina, for the faceless dead numbering thousands. Turning away from the trapped souls in the buckled ceiling, he looked instead at Bertholdt, wreathed now with something warmer than starlight, and saw in him the face of god.
Hollow at its heart, the mattress sucked them in, stitching them together. Marco rolled onto his back, pulling Bertholdt with him, taking that sorrowful, steadfast face into his hands, breathing deep its sticky, cinnamon-smoke exhalations. He could see nothing else, he could not see beyond his would-be executioner – particularly when Bertholdt leaned nearer still, to kiss the skin-warm leather cap of his eye patch.
Tenderness intensified with the brush of a callused and nicotine-stained thumb, the cover flipped to reveal the horror beneath. Marco made no move to shy away, to hide the ruin of his blind eye, the orb and its chambers filled with blood so viscous and dark it looked like red-black pitch. Floating in that dark sea, twists of cloudy material the same spectral colour as cataracts, like the cold forges of faraway galaxies, giving birth to distant stars. Beautiful, in a grotesque way. There were other, less-than-pretty parts of him that Bertholdt might yet be privy to.
Perhaps it was regret, or a secondhand sort of pain, that shivered through Bertholdt’s frame, that set his eyes to shine once more. Marco was quick to reassure, parting his thighs, deepening the contact between their war-torn bodies. Pelvises stacked, he was aware of Bertholdt’s arousal curving against his own.
“It’s okay. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Then he kissed Bertholdt’s mouth, tasting starfire and liquor on his lips.

AU Thursday: Smiler's Otherland -- Weapons!
We've done the domains -- time to cover Smiler's marmalising arsenal! Well, if you can call it that, given these weapons are all nonlethal unless Smiler's in their version of Hysteria Mode... These admittedly got covered pretty well in the original post, but I wanted to expand a little bit upon what each one does (both in normal and Hysteria modes) and what their upgrade paths might look like --
Vorpal Spoon: As previously indicated, this came about because I needed an equivalent to Alice's famous Vorpal Blade, and since Victor got the Vorpal Fork thanks to his big fight scene in Corpse Bride involving him using a barbecue fork...well, I guess Smiler wanted to complete the cutlery set. XD
Look -- An oversized silver spoon with a black handle grip (with little yellow spirals painted on it, natch) and a twisted slatted "neck" (the part that actually connects the handle and the bowl) -- it's supposed to look like a heartline roll, which is the first inversion on the Smiler coaster. The bowl itself is a bit oversized, and would probably be engraved either with spirals, or the full-on swirly-eyed Smiler logo.
Effect -- Not having any sharp bits like the Blade or Fork, the Spoon is instead a stunning weapon -- Smiler bops enemies on the head with it, and they freeze for a few seconds, unable to move, while swirls go around their heads. Perfect for giving Victor or Alice the chance to get in close with a more lethal weapon! The Hysteria Mode version would still stun the enemy, but also cause damage as Smiler hits harder.
Upgrade Path -- Like the Vorpal Blade and the Vorpal Fork, the look of this weapon doesn't change as you upgrade it -- instead, the trail it leaves as Smiler swings it and the spirals that appear around bopped enemies changes. I'm thinking we start with simple black spirals, then move to purple, yellow, and finally a whole rainbow of spirals.
The Inoculator: One of the elements of the Marmaliser, and probably one of the most famous, since -- well. Big needle full of mind-control juice! That grabs people's interest! This is the equivalent of Alice's Pepper Grinder or Victor's Wedding Wine, functioning much like the latter.
Look -- A big old syringe (about the size of the Pepper Grinder) with a copper needle and plunger and a glass barrel full of yellow liquid (Joy Serum). The serum drains as Smiler presses the plunger, and will need a few seconds to refill -- longer if Smiler empties it completely.
Effect -- Smiler can depress the plunger to squirt out the serum onto enemies -- any enemy hit by the stuff ends up covered in dripping yellow liquid for a short time, and during that time, is friendly to Smiler (and Victor and Alice, if they are present). The enemy will also attack other enemies if they are present. The Hysteria Mode version is a full on "needle jab" attack, where Smiler gets in close and actually injects an enemy with Joy Serum -- this causes the enemy to take some damage from getting stuck, but also turns them completely yellow and makes them fight at Smiler's side for longer.
Upgrade Path -- The needle and plunger go from copper, to silver, to gold, to black; the barrel gradually gains some minor decoration in the form of swirly engravings, and the Joy Serum inside gets more and more excited, going from just plain liquid, to bubbling a bit, to actively fizzing, to occasionally having the Smiler logo fade in and out of it.
The Tickler: Another Marmaliser element, big fuzzy rollers designed to tickle people -- though I wouldn't be surprised if most people looked at them and thought "car wash." :p This is the equivalent of Alice's Hobby Horse or Victor's Grim Scythe.
Look -- The ride Tickler is made up of big car wash brushes; mine is a paint roller. XD Specifically, it's a long black pole with a large fuzzy yellow roller mounted on the end. Just -- picture a paint roller, yeah.
Effect -- This is another weapon designed to stun -- Smiler hits enemies with it and rolls the roller over them, and they get incapacitated for a short time with laughter, as shown by little yellow "ha ha ha"s coming out of their bodies. It's got better reach and stuns for longer than the Vorpal Spoon, but Smiler can't swing it as fast, or move as fast while they're using it. Like the Vorpal Spoon, the Hysteria Mode version of the attack has Smiler hit harder and more aggressively, actually causing damage while also stunning the enemy for a bit longer.
Upgrade Path -- The pole goes from plain black, to black-and-white-striped, to black-and-yellow-striped, to black-white-and-yellow-striped. The roller, meanwhile, goes from plain yellow, to yellow-and-black-striped (like it's presented in The Smiler Game), to black-white-and-yellow-striped, to black-white-yellow-and-purple-striped.
The Flasher: Another Marmaliser element, and the one that most people I think would be fine skipping, as it does involve being flashed with bright light. This is what makes The Smiler fandom not great for anyone who doesn't like or can't view flashing images! This functions much like Alice's Clockwork Bomb or Victor's Altar Candle.
Look -- A medium-sized yellow box covered on all four sides and the top with light bulbs -- a set of six to a side. The bulbs blink on and off occasionally.
Effect -- Smiler puts this down on the ground, holding a small black switch in their hand as they then move about freely. The Flasher will remain where it is placed, with bulbs blinking on and off randomly to attract enemies. After thirty seconds, or when Smiler presses the switch, the box will let off a brilliant flash using all its bulbs at once, then explode, stunning all nearby enemies briefly. It can also be used to hold down switches temporarily. In Hysteria Mode, the explosion is accompanied by flying glass from the bulbs and thus actually causes damage. (I know the Clockbomb Bomb doesn't really have a "Hysteria Mode" equivalent like the main weapons, but I still like this idea.)
Upgrade Path -- N/A -- as the Clockwork Bomb has no upgrades, neither does this. (Given it can literally blind enemies from the start, does it really need them?)
The Giggler: Another Marmaliser element, this one being tanks full of laughing gas sprayed at riders as they pass. This one doesn't get a lot of love -- I think most people are more into the Inoculator's Joy Serum -- but I like it as it's fun and, from what I can see, the gas itself is the ride's explicit purple element. :) It's the equivalent of Alice's Teapot Cannon or Victor's Quill Bow.
Look -- A small tank about the size of the Teapot Cannon, with a black top and bottom over a clear glass middle, showing the purple Giggler gas. A black handle with a trigger is attached to one side, and a black nozzle on a short flexible black hose is attached to the other. Smiler holds it by gripping the handle in one hand and holding the nozzle with the other.
Effect -- Smiler can depress the trigger in the handle to release clouds of gas from the nozzle, which then drift toward nearby enemies -- the longer they hold the trigger, the bigger the resultant cloud, and the faster it moves. Any enemies hit by the cloud end up tinted purple with a purple "ha ha ha" over their heads, and, like with the Inoculator, end up friendly to Smiler and will attack other enemies for them. The clouds have better reach than the Inoculator and can go through barriers, but the tank empties faster than the syringe and takes longer to refill -- it's best used with large groups of enemies, as the clouds can affect multiple enemies at once. The Hysteria Mode version would have Smiler getting up closer to give enemies a bigger dose of gas straight in the kisser, causing damage from lack of oxygen but also making the enemies brighter purple and keeping them loyal for longer.
Upgrade Path -- The top, bottom, and handle of the tank go from black, to white, to yellow, to yellow-and-black-striped; the actual tank gets engraved swirly decorations, then an engraved Smiler Logo with a hazardous X on the bottom, like can be seen in the front in this Tower Times picture; and the nozzle and hose go from plain black, to black-and-white-striped, to black-and-yellow-striped, to black-white-and-yellow-striped.
The Hypnotiser: The final element on the Marmaliser, and probably the other most famous/liked one of the lot, basically just a lot of spinning spirals and other patterns designed to, well, hypnotize. This would be the equivalent of Alice's Umbrella or Victor's Sketchbook.
Look -- A large disc on a black pole, printed with concentric white, yellow, and black spirals (much like the eyes in the logo), which spins at a steady rate.
Effect -- Smiler can pull this out and use the disc to reflect back projectiles or as a defensive shield. It also has a chance of distracting enemies so they don't attack, leaving them open to another weapon. The Hysteria Mode attack would be -- hmmm. Maybe if Smiler pulls it out, it can frenzy enemies into attacking whoever or whatever is closest? (Again, I know the Umbrella doesn't have an Hysteria Mode attack, but come on, it's fun.)
Upgrade Path -- N/A again, as the Umbrella never gets upgraded. (Though if it did have one, I'd imagine the spirals would get more complex -- maybe it would start with just black and white spirals and gradually add the yellow?)
Whew -- I think that covers all their current weapons pretty thoroughly! Once again I count myself lucky that the ride's various "Marmaliser" elements could be so easily converted to weapons. :p Next time in Smiler Otherland news, we'll talk outfits! At least, those outfits I've managed to figure out...

Vibrations
I can feel the thump of my chest vibrating through every inch of my body as I finally make it to the white chair I’ve sat on many times before. My legs feel heavy from the walk up the steep hill, giving out with sweet gratitude as I rest on the wooden slats. My head hangs backwards, allowing a cool breeze to brush against my exposed skin, feelings of stark coldness overcoming the warm sweat on my neck. I had brought a book with me, but I never end up actually reading it.
I take a deep breath, the air cutting down my throat, filling me with freshness and light. I lift my head again, eyes scanning the rolls of hills and trees expanding our land. Home. This was where I felt most at home. Beau barks at me from the bottom of the hill, always too lazy to follow me up. He fills the air with echoing bellows, three times, before allowing the comforting silence to settle again. Allowing the swoosh of the eucalyptus to form rhythm, lulling me to a quiet sigh. The wind brushes past my ear, sending tingling sensations down to my toes. Birds chip.
My mind, usually swirling with thoughts and emotion, finally settles as I close my eyes again, my body relaxing against the harsh wood. My fingers make small circles against the chair, slight splinters pressing against my fingertips, though never with enough force to pierce my skin. The sky begins to swirl with hues of apricot, lilac and rose.

Aluminium Roller Shutters: A Modern Solution for Enhanced Property Protection
Introduction to Aluminium Roller Shutters for Commercial and Industrial Spaces
Aluminium roller shutters are a popular and reliable choice for both commercial and industrial applications. Designed with horizontal steel or aluminium slats, these shutters roll around a barrel to open and close seamlessly. They can be operated through various mechanisms like springs, chains, or electric motors, and are fully customizable to meet specific requirements.
Customization and Operation
Aluminium roller shutters feature side guides to keep the curtain securely in place. Built for vertical operation, they are compact and take up minimal space when fully open, with the curtain’s top space varying between 200–500mm based on the door height and slat type.
Many modern shutters use electric motors for ease and efficiency, especially in high-traffic areas, as they are cost-effective and more practical than manual options.
Heavy-Duty Requirements for Industrial and Commercial Use
In commercial and industrial settings, roller shutters are often required to handle frequent use. Heavy-duty 3-phase electric motors are common for shutters that need to open and close over 15–20 times daily, or for larger and heavier shutters. This setup ensures durability, strength, and a longer service life.
Versatile and Durable Aluminium Roller Shutters
Our aluminium roller shutters are a versatile, lightweight, and durable option suitable for a range of settings, from shopping centers and storefronts to bottle shops and canteens.
They provide excellent protection, style, and resistance to wear, making them ideal for both aesthetics and security in any commercial environment. Their custom design also enhances protection against extreme weather conditions and potential break-ins.
Why Choose Aluminium?
Aluminium is known for being lightweight, strong, and resistant to rust. It ensures a quiet, smooth operation, efficient insulation, and lasting durability.
Additionally, aluminium’s high-quality surface finish maintains its appearance over time, making it a reliable choice for long-term use.
Enhanced Privacy, Light Control, and Noise Reduction
These roller shutters offer more than security; they add privacy, control over light, and noise reduction, making them a suitable solution for both commercial and residential spaces.
Aluminium roller shutters are perfect for homes that want both functionality and style in their design.
Expanding Applications Beyond Industrial Use
Traditionally used in factories and warehouses, aluminium roller shutters have gained popularity in retail, schools, and healthcare settings, proving their versatility beyond industrial buildings. They offer a practical and secure solution for various commercial uses.
Added Security and Energy Efficiency
Aluminium roller shutters act as a solid barrier when closed, providing high-level protection against intruders. Their tight, gap-free design offers a clean and professional appearance, giving businesses a secure, polished look.
Some shutters even include automatic locking systems for extra security, further safeguarding the premises.
Streamlining Operations in Warehouses
In warehouse settings, roller shutters help streamline workflow by creating organized zones for different types of stock or activities. This organization can improve efficiency by separating temperature zones, preserving product quality, and managing stock effectively.
Built to Last with Quality Craftsmanship
Aluminium is well-suited to withstand twisting and minimal expansion, even in high temperatures, making it ideal for precision manufacturing.
When combined with professional craftsmanship, these qualities make aluminium roller shutters a top-quality, reliable option for commercial and industrial spaces.
Boosting Protection with Wind Locking Mechanisms
For areas prone to strong winds or storms, a wind-locking mechanism is a valuable addition to ensure shutters stay secure. This added feature helps protect your shutters from damage in extreme weather, enhancing their longevity and performance.
Conclusion
Aluminium roller shutters offer a range of sizes and customization options, making them suitable for any commercial or industrial setting, from small stores to large warehouses. With benefits like durability, security, and efficient operation, aluminium roller shutters are a valuable addition for any property seeking style, protection, and ease of use.

Maximizing Space in a Small Modern Kitchen Design
Keeping kitchen wares, decorative accessories and other clutter out of sight is key to making your small modern kitchen design feel larger. Cupboard pull-outs can increase storage efficiency and help to keep items within reach without cutting off a line of visibility or blocking a walking path.
The broken plan is a great option for smaller spaces, separating the kitchen from dining and living areas with full or half partitions that can be opened or pulled back as needed. Look for partition alternatives that include freestanding furniture or slatted screens.
1. Use Monochromatic Color Schemes
Color is a powerful design tool that can make any room appear larger. White walls and cabinetry are an obvious choice, but darker tones can be just as effective in a small kitchen.
Rich shades can also look upscale when used on floor tiles in a narrow layout. But for the most impact, limit this look to the floor so that upper cabinets and walls can remain pale and open.
Cooking utensils and equipment as well as hanging towels are often found on kitchen counters, so use these areas to add pops of coordinating color that will mix with your overall monochromatic scheme.
2. Forgo Upper Cabinetry
A modern kitchen trend that’s sure to endure, avoiding upper cabinetry gives a room a more open feel and lets in more natural light. Smartly outfitted lower cabinets can make up for the loss of storage space.
Consider a clever backsplash or countertop ledge to hide utensils and other clutter. A breakfast cupboard can stash away a few essentials and a kettle or coffeemaker. And a pantry in the kitchen can hold bulky cookware and glassware. Alternatively, use a kitchen island to double as extra workspace and storage.
3. Create an Open Layout
Open kitchens offer great flexibility when it comes to design and can work well with many different layout ideas. The trick is to clearly demarcate the cooking area from other living spaces by playing with lighting and other simple interior design techniques.
In this small open kitchen, dark green full-height cabinetry adds a sophisticated look that keeps the cooking zone separate from the living space. To keep the space feeling airy, floating open shelving is used to store a range of items, including mugs and utensils.
4. Install Mirrors
One of the most important things you can do to make a small kitchen look modern is install clever lighting ideas. Clever mirrored lighting will help bounce natural light throughout a compact room.
It’s also a great way to visually expand a tight space and keep your floor plan clear. To maximize the effect, consider showcasing an edited collection of ceramics on open shelving and selecting sleek seating like backless Lucite chairs and a mod tulip table.
5. Opt for Single Sinks
While a single sink can be a real space-saver in small modern kitchen designs, many kitchen necessities require ample counterspace. Avoid encroaching on precious countertop area with clever kitchen appliance layout ideas.
Clever shelving options can also help keep countertops clear. A breakfast cupboard with bi-fold doors can hide away jars of jam, sugar and coffee, plus kettles and toasters. Glossy door fronts bounce light around and make a kitchen feel bigger. When not in use, simply roll the unit out of the way.
6. Invest in Integrated Appliances
Integrated appliances are ideal for small kitchens as they offer a sleek finish that suits the overall design scheme. They also sit flush with the cabinets, making them suitable for both modern and traditional designs.
Instead of opting for a double butler sink, consider a single one, which will take up less space and make the room appear larger. Similarly, choosing a slimline dishwasher and fridge will reduce the amount of items to stack, freeing up more floor space.
7. Open-Plan Dining
If your home is open-plan, you can still tuck a small kitchen away without compromising on the living space. One option is to fit a kitchen into a single wall setting that conceals it from view with a bank of floor-to-ceiling cabinets.
Glossy door fronts and transparent shelving make these a visually smart choice for open-plan spaces. Hanging a fabulous pendant light will also add interest and help bounce light around the room. If you go for a galley kitchen layout, keep walls minimal to improve visibility and walking lines.
8. Opt for Broken Plan
A broken layout is a clever way to retain the benefits of open-plan living while providing some sense of privacy. Open boxed shelving units are a modern alternative to partitions and can help distinguish between a kitchen and sitting area, for example.
A one-wall kitchen is a great option for small homes as it keeps all the essentials within reach and helps to streamline workflow. For larger spaces, consider a U-shaped layout or horseshoe design to make the most of your space.

Can you DIY a Kitchen Renovation
Do you want to renovate your kitchen? You can, but here are some things to keep in mind.
A kitchen renovation is a large project. Make sure you have enough time and energy to complete it. You should also have basic plumbing and carpentry skills before you begin. Also, you will need to decide what aspects of your kitchen to be changed, such as extra storage space, changing old appliances, or changing the lighting.
Once you’ve planned your kitchen renovation, it’s time to start shopping for materials. You will need to make a decision about cabinets, countertops, flooring and appliances.
This is an excellent idea. This will help you decide how much space your kitchen needs and what type layout would work best.
There are many choices when it comes to cabinets. There are two types of cabinets available: Ready-to-assemble (RTA), or custom. RTA cabinets can be made in many styles and colors and are generally less expensive than custom ones.
It is essential that you ensure safety and security during large-scale renovations. For renovations, it might be a good idea to check the local building codes.
Although it may seem tempting to handle a large-scale project on your feet, it is best that you seek professional advice. By hiring a qualified contractor, you can save both time and money. You will also be able to work with professionals to ensure that your project runs smoothly.
Are Kitchen Remodeling Costs Worth it?
Remodeling your kitchen can make your home look better, but it can also come at a high cost. If you’re thinking about remodelling your kitchen, you might wonder if the costs are worth it.
There are many factors that you need to consider when deciding whether or not remodeling your kitchen is a good idea. The first consideration is the price of your home. You will need to make sure that the remodel costs are covered in your sale price if you intend on selling your house soon.
You should also consider the cost of the actual remodel. The cost of high-end kitchen renovations can reach $50,000. It is important to make sure that you have the finances in place to cover them. If you’re not planning on selling your home, the cost may be less of a concern.
The last thing you need to think about is how much you’ll use your new kitchen. If you entertain often or cook large meals, you’ll want to ensure that your new kitchen can accommodate your needs. If you don’t plan on using your kitchen much, you might be able to get by with a more minor, less expensive remodel.
If you don’t know where to start, here are some tips for getting started:
Consider whether you would like to replace or make new cabinets. The cost of a kitchen remodel can increase significantly if new cabinets are added. And, if you choose to replace all the cabinets, you’ll need to remove them before installing new ones.
Carefully choose your colours. Your kitchen’s overall appearance can be affected by your choice of colour. Make sure you choose carefully.
Decide if you want to update the flooring. If you plan to sell your house soon, you might want to leave the flooring alone. A freshly painted concrete slab could give off a “new look.”
Consider adding more storage. Your kitchen’s usable area can be increased by adding shelves, cabinets, and drawers.
Lighting is important. You can brighten the dark corners of your kitchen by installing recessed lights above the sink, stove, or refrigerator.
Add Appliances. You can save energy by replacing your fridge with a more efficient model. It can also increase the value of your home.
You should ensure that you have enough outlets. Most kitchens only come equipped with one or two outlets. This means that your blender, microwave and other appliances won’t work in your kitchen.
Water lines should not be overlooked. The water pipes are concealed behind floors and walls. Before beginning any work, ensure you check for leaks.
Eliminate clutter. If your kitchen is already cluttered, you can organize it. You don’t need to keep it cluttered.
Get estimates from several contractors. Compare prices by square footage, material type (cabinets or stone), as well as the number of windows and doors.
You should look into financing options. Many people opt to finance their kitchen remodels. You don’t have to pay interest while you make the payments.
Get a rough idea of the length of time you intend to stay in your house. Your kitchen will be more valuable the longer you keep it.
Keep track. You can keep track of every detail by using a notebook.
Plan ahead. Sketch out the vision you have for your kitchen. This will make it easier to visualize the whole thing.
What are some common mistakes made when renovating your kitchen?
A kitchen installed in an inappropriate location might not work.
You could get wet floors if you place the dishwasher too far from your sink.
If the fridge is placed next the oven, it can make opening the door difficult.
Insufficient counter space can lead to problems.
A common mistake is to not have enough storage. Make sure to have enough cabinets and shelves to store all your kitchen appliances and gadgets.
It is difficult to choose the right appliances for a kitchen remodel.
It is important to ensure that they are both space- and energy-efficient.
A mistake is not hiring a professional to assist with the design. A professional can make sure everything fits into the space and is accurate to scale.
Don’t try to do everything yourself. This is a common mistake with kitchen renovations. For a successful kitchen remodeling project, it is crucial to understand your limits and when you should call in the professionals.
A mistake is not planning enough. Kitchens can be costly, so ensure you have the funds to cover the entire project.
It is a mistake to not have a clear vision of the style and layout you desire. Before starting a renovation you should have a clear idea of the style, layout, finishes, and materials that you are looking for.
These are just some of the many mistakes people make when renovating their homes. To avoid making these errors, consult a professional before you start your project. If you are careful about planning and execution, your kitchen renovation will be a success.
What are the steps involved in remodeling a kitchen
Plan your kitchen remodeling. Decide what you want to change and how much you want to spend.
Find a contractor. You can get bids from many contractors. Choose the one you feel most comfortable.
Demolition. This is the fun bit! Rip out the old cabinets, countertops, and appliances.
Installation. According to your plans, the contractor will install cabinets, countertops, appliances, and other items.
Final touches. Your kitchen remodel is complete when you add finishing touches such as new hardware or paint.

How To
How do I choose a kitchen contractor?
The following tips will help guide you in your decision-making process when it comes to hiring a Kitchen Remodeling contractor.
Ask your friends to share their experiences with different contractors. It’s a great way for contractors to receive honest feedback. Ask about their work ethic, professionalism, cleanliness and punctuality. Consider asking them if there were any problems with their contractor. If they had problems with the contractor, how did they solve them?
Contact several companies and request quotes for your project. Be prepared to provide a detailed description of your project and explain why you want to hire someone else. It’s a good idea to tell them that your search is for someone who has experience in kitchen renovations. It is possible to include details such as the size and type of materials used. You should tell them exactly what finish you desire (i.e., countertops and cabinets, backsplash, flooring). Don’t forget to mention anything specific that you would like done during the project. Are you looking to have new appliances installed? Do you prefer a particular type of cabinetry or style? Do you want a particular feature, such as a built-in microwave oven or wine fridge?
Make sure to verify that the company is covered by worker’s compensation and insurance. You can check online to find out if the contractor is a member of any trade associations. It is always best to choose a company that is a member of a respected organization.
Schedule a meeting with the contractor to discuss your project in detail. Ask them questions about their experience, qualifications, and methods. Ask them how they would approach your project, and what timeline they envisage.
Refer to previous clients for references. Don’t take a contractor’s word for it. Ask for references. Call the names he recommends from his list of references. You can reach them by calling the people he recommends.
You can see past customer reviews on sites such as Yelp, Angie’s List and Houzz. These sites are popular for homeowners who want to leave feedback after they’ve completed projects. Positive reviews will assure you that you get a good job.
A kitchen designer can help you create a plan to remodel your kitchen. An experienced designer will have a better understanding of what looks best in your particular kitchen. She/he will also be knowledgeable about the latest trends for kitchens.

abilene was nearly glowing in his arms . every moment was a gift , and she intended to treasure them . she would have said anything , done anything , to hear his laugh and see his lips part in a smile , and when they finally did as he teased her she felt her heart swell in her chest . he looked free when he smiled , she thought , like all of the weights that had so steadily built up on his shoulders fell for just a moment . she wished that she could see him free of all of that , she wished that he would let her carry some of those burdens as well .
❛ i meant about the whole you-loving-me-more thing , ❜ she teased back , fingers running through his hair . his curls were always so soft slipping between her digits , and there weren't many back home with hair as light as his . it made her think of golden sunlight through the slats of a roof , of laying on her back and letting the warmth seep through her skin to her bones . ❛ though yes , i am happy that his vocabulary has expanded hey , what's wrong ? ❜ her hands stilled in his hair as alex's smile fell . his eyes always reminded her of clear skies and the warmth of the sun , but she could almost see the clouds rolling in as he spoke .
dark brows furrowed when alex continued . why wouldn't she want those things ? fantasies of what those days would be like , memories of being safe in his arms , all of those promises had been what had kept her lucid these past few months . now with the reality of it in her hands , why would she toss it away ? her mouth opened to protest , fingers moving from his hair to his cheeks to force his eyes to look into hers .
❛ what are you ❜ she was cut off by his next question . it was a name that she had not heard in ages . . . in nearly a decade . for just a split second , half of a moment , her eyes widened . she felt all of the warmth leave her body at once and her hair rose up on the back of her neck .
Tumblr media
the name brought up an image that abilene had long since tried to push from her mind , one that visited her again and again in her nightmares . it was of gunner , of his muddy brown eyes glaring into hers as his hands wrapped around her throat . she could still see the blood dripping from his nose from his fight with the other tribute , see how his lips pulled into a smile as surely he would win , surely he was not to be bested by a pathetic little girl ? why would he want to talk about gunner now ? she hadn't even been sure prior to this moment that alex knew the boy's name . then , as alex's jaw sets and he continues , she felt like the floor had been ripped out from underneath her . her stomach sunk , and her heart nearly stopped beating .
abilene let out a soft , albeit shaky , breath and her thumbs brushed along his cheeks just once . ❛ i will always love you , alexander nilsen . ❜ yet again , her voice was firm though quiet . she brushed some of his curls from his eyes . she knew that his intention had not been to hurt , though his words still stung . did he not trust her ? she held so much trust in him , had given him so much of herself , that the thought of him not returning that feeling made an ache settle in her chest . her stomach churned . ❛ you can always ask me anything but . . . where's all of this coming from , mi vida ? ❜
“aren’t you proud of him for expanding his vocabulary?”   alex teases with a laugh,  clinging onto what little normalcy this conversation offers him.   it never fails to amaze him how easily abilene can make him forget about the world and all the terrible things that have happened to them,  breathe a newfound sense of hope into his weary heart.    “thank you for taking care of him.   you didn’t have to,  and
i just want you to know that it means the world to me,  that i see what you do for the boys.”   and it makes him love her even more.   or does it?   suddenly,  memories of his time in the capitol come back to him,  and anxiety begins to brew deep inside his chest.
“i made plenty of promises before the games and i intend to keep them all if that’s what you want.   still.   that is.”   he’d been told things about her.   things that didn’t sit right with him and seemed so very far-fetched,  and yet they might have managed to plant a seed of distrust in his chest.   “cause if you don’t want the things that we talked about,  for whatever reason,  i won’t be upset with you.”   fingers combing through her luscious locks,  he can’t help but think how desperate they were back then,  before the games,  how terrified
he wouldn’t blame her if she only clung to him for comfort and protection.
Tumblr media
“can i ask you about something?   will you promise not be get angry with me?”   he pleads softly,  pulling back just to look at her,  hands cupping her face to get her attention.   “can we talk about gunner?”   and how was he different from alex?   wasn’t he an ally and a friend,  too?   he’d been told in the capitol that there might have been some feelings between the two,  and in the end she betrayed him.   was she planning on doing the same to him?   has she been taking care of david because she’s feeling guilty?   alex’s mind is still a wreck,  a battleground where there’s rarely a moment of peace,  and this internal conflict finds a way to lance through his features.   brows furrowing in confusion,  jaw setting.   “if you don’t love me
i won’t hold it against you.”

The cheapest way to build a fence
Without spending a fortune, a fence that deters nosy neighbors and potential intruders can also improve the exterior appeal of your house. While fencing materials like vinyl and aluminum are distinctly expensive. Although fencing can be pricey, we've compiled a list of inexpensive fence designs that will work with almost any budget.
Pallet fencing - Pallets are frequently used, especially when constructing a yard fence. To make stacking and hauling heavy goods easier, they start off as flat transport structures. They can either be left whole for the project or divided into slats. Pallets create excellent yard fencing that is easy to assemble because there are often few gaps between the slats.
Living Fences -Growing your own "living fence" is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional yard fencing. Typically, private or boxwood are good choices for hedging. A nice approach to protect wooden fence from rain and solar is to apply to maintain paint or stain You can try a store like Home Depot or Lowe’s, but it might be cheaper to work with a local landscaping company or greenhouse. We adore environmentally friendly choices and the thought of being able to boast to your guests that.
Chain link - For a little budget and a big yard, a chain link fence made of robust steel wires bent and connected together is frequently the best choice. Chain-link fences are an efficient way to keep pets in and intruders out, but providing less privacy than a solid fence due to the 2- to 3-inch intervals between the wires. Chain link fencing isn't particularly attractive, but you can make it look better by growing a fast-growing vine-like ivy right next to it and letting it cover the fence. The appearance of the chain link can also be changed by painting it with an attractive neutral or earth-tone oil-based exterior paint, like forest green.
Bambo Fences -Planting a bamboo fence along the chosen path and letting it grow. If you want dry bamboo, grow it until it is the proper height in a convenient location. After that, cut it down, let it dry, and erect it as a fence. Bamboo may grow up to 36 inches in just 24 hours. Bamboo fencing rolls that are already made are also available. Additionally, bamboo keeps deer away if you live close to animals. If you respect environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, this is a terrific concept.
Split rail and mesh - The split-rail fence has expanded to include ranch and Southwestern-style residences in addition to its traditional use on farms and ranches to confine animals or designate property boundaries. Timber logs, typically made of cedar or chestnut, are split lengthwise to form "rails," which are then stacked between short or tall vertical posts. This fencing is far less expensive than solid versions since there are 8 to 10 inches or more between each rail.
Barbed Wire - Barbed wire is most frequently employed on farmland, and its primary purpose is security rather than ornamentation. A barbed wire yard fence is a low-cost way to keep animals or people out of a particular area. This is the greatest option for coverage in areas with broad open spaces or those that demand additional protection. If you know perfectly how to maintain a wood fence, that will allow you to prolong the life of your wood fence.
Around the perimeter of the property, three to five strands of barbed wire are stretched horizontally between metal posts, with wood or metal posts put at the corners to support the wire. Check your local codes before employing barbed wire because they are only allowed in rural areas.
Concrete Fencing - When privacy and security are top priorities, concrete might be an affordable fencing choice. For maximum coverage, use only concrete; for design contrast, include brick or wood accents. For this one, you might need to hire professionals, which would increase the cost.
