@stormysprite thank you so so so much for your ask!! likewise, i am SO sorry for not responding until now; life has been super hectic!!

So, if you've seen/heard of EPIC: The Musical, this is a shameless reference to Open Arms 😅 The first time i was introduced to EPIC was actually because someone said they head-cannoned Wars voice as Odysseus, and i listened and thought "oh my goodness this is so accurate!" so when i heard Open Arms, i immediately thought of Wars and Sky. So i guess this is something i have been dying to try, since i thought of it the first time i heard the song!

As for my favorite LU character, i love them all equally, and couldn't pick a favorite despite thinking about it for a looonngggg time lol.

So, I have Wars looking a little surprised here, and you can interpret it one of two ways:

1: Wars is startled because Sky comes up behind him and points out that he is tense (Wars just wasn't expecting it)

2: Sky actually bursts into song and Wars is just like 0_0

The Darkness (2/2)

In the Rift into Overdrive Comic, it's revealed that the Skystones collected the remaining portion of The Darkness after it was defeated by the Core of Light, which is also how Kaos ended up turning back evil after being turned by good by the Kaos Trap, Kaos and Glumshanks were able find it in a sealed door inside the Skylanders Academy, locked in a vial which they stole

Kaos would use the vial of Darkness to power the Sky Eater, however the Darkness would end up becoming sentient and begin speaking to Kaos, manipulating him into not just taking over Skylands, but the entire universe as well, however it's actual plan to is destroy everything

Kaos would later come to his senses and betray the Darkness by banishing him with a Rift Engine, however it didn't work as The Darkness would return, using the Sky Eater as armor, however, the Superchargers would defeat it for good

In the IDW Comics, the Darkness is mentioned by Spyro to be locked away

The Darkness (1/2)

When the Ancients explored the universe with Rift Engines, they somehow created a Dark Rift Engine that opened a portal to a "Forbidden World" which the Darkness came from, The Darkness would the source of Evil in Skylands

The Portal Masters and Skylanders fought the Darkness until the Ancients created the Core of Light to banish it to the dark corners of Skylands

The Darkness would later destroy the sky surfer town of Billowy Cloudplains, before being consumed, Boom Jet would evacuate the civilians, he would later join the Skylanders

According to the Skylanders Giants Strategy Guide, before becoming evil, Kaossandra would play Skystones with her son's Willikins, however one day she get corrupted by the Darknees, causing her to blame the Portal Masters for the problems across Skylands and for her son, Kaos, having Portal Master powers, this would lead her to become the first Dark Portal Master

However she would end up being defeated by the Swap Force after her plan to attack the Ancient Elementals

The Darkness would later kill all of the Ooga Warriors until Voodood was the only one left, causing him to join the Skylanders

A group of Elves would end up worshipping the Darkness, they would embrace it's effects and transform into Drow, who would end up working for Kaos, however it would erase their desire to protect nature

In the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure, When the Darkness arrived to the Radiant Isles, it brought an unknown being of unknown origin called Hektore, he enslaved the Mystic Seekers and forced them to create the Dark Mirror

The Dark Mirror's purpose is to shroud the Radiant Isles from the rest of Skylands and corrupt the isles by poisoning the Radiant Crystals, the Mystic Seekers would later destroy the Dark Mirror with the help of the Skylanders, using the power of the Shattering Sigil, Hektore would then be killed by the Dark Mirror's explosion

In the 3DS version of Trap Team, The Darkness takes over the Midnight Museum so it can engulf the relics in a state called "Eternal Forgottenness" using light spheres, the Skylanders rescued the relics before the building was engulfed

i have a headcanon because of this wonderful 100+ thousand words fanfic series on ao3 that stein is just obsessed with spirit and spirit is literally the only reason stein's still has some sane sense. the guy just desperately clings to him like a little boy to the only adult who didn't reject him, spirit is literally a breath of fresh air for him after a bad battle or a candle that burns forever in the dark. i can't fully explain how stein feels about this redhead idiot, it's just that felling in the chest when he sees him and suddenly everything as it's supposed to be for a few seconds, no horrors, no abstruse thoughts, just spirit, his red hair and his awfully stupid face

This beautiful piece of fan art by @/stickymaelk on Twitter made my brain start whirling around an Arcane x Soul Eater AU that I'm sure I won't be able to get out of my head for a little while, so here are my fledgling headcanons:

Jayce & Viktor are obviously partners, with Jayce being the meister & Viktor the weapon. Viktor has a very closed-off soul & finds it near impossible to partner with anyone other than Jayce (ala Soul). Jayce has a very large, kinetic soul-wavelength that he can use to attack sans his weapon ala Black☆Star, though he wouldn't necessarily want to. He has an easier time pairing up with other people compared to Viktor, but most other weapons would find his wavelength overwhelming. Jayce grew up in Death City with his mother. They're probably the first of their class to make a Death Scythe. I absolutely see the two of them getting into a Maka-&-Soul-esque dilemma where Jayce develops a complex around needing to protect Viktor at all costs, despite it being the weapon's job to protect their meister. The handle of Viktor's hammer-form takes on the aesthetic qualities of whatever cane he's using at the time.

Caitlyn is the first meister in Kiramman family history (maybe she gets it from Tobias's side?) & her deciding to pursue this path has created a rift between she & Cassandra. Caitlyn & Jayce hit it off during their first week at the DWMA & she was extremely disappointed to find out he wasn't a weapon. Caitlyn goes through her entire first semester without having chosen a weapon before Death Scythe Grayson reccomends she pair up with Vi; the two of them never would have seriously considered the other before, but they work like a charm. Maybe they eventually have a little breakup arc where their partnership dissolves & Caitlyn picks up Maddie as her new weapon, but they can't resonate the same way she & Vi could.

Vi & Powder are kind of a combination of the Thompson sisters & the Nakatsukasa siblings. Like Liz & Patty, they're both modern firearms. But whereas Vi only has one form (a rifle) like Masamune, Powder is a multi-form weapon like Tsubaki; she can turn into a handgun, a canon, a grenade, a time-bomb, etc. Vi lowkey wishes she were a meister so that she & Powder could've been partners, & has a bit of an inferiority complex about not being a good enough weapon. The two of them were taken in & raised by the DWMA along with Ekko. Maybe their parents were all meisters and/or weapons who were killed by witches or something. Powder absolutely gets injected with Black Blood at some point. At some point before either of them had official partners, Jayce & Vi tried to pair up & it was an absolute disaster (their souls are like the immovable object vs the unstoppable force, lol).

Ekko is a meister & Powder's partner. The two of them decided to be a pair before they were even officially enrolled at the DWMA. Ekko has a grigori soul (ala Maka), which helps to counteract Powder's madness post-Black Blood infusion. If they ever formed a team of weapon-meister pairs like Spartoi, then Ekko would definitely be the leader. Powder worries that she's dragging Ekko's as a meister potential down with her.

Mel has a Stein-esque soul, in that she can meister any weapon with ease &, like Jayce, can fight without a weapon (she's more adept & eager to do so than Jayce is). Her most common weapon partner is Elora, & sometimes Sky (I definitely see Sky having Marie's healing wavelength). Maybe Elora is killed in battle (sorry girl) or decommissioned some other way, & Sky becomes Mel's primary weapon after that? The Medarda's are a long, unbroken line of prodigious meisters & weapons, & Mel definitely feels the weight of that legacy. Mel is revealed to be part witch ala Kim.

I think this is my first Linked Universe post ever so I hope this isn’t messy!

LU Soul Eater AU: this is how I think it would with pairings and the mild plot I’ve cobbled together!

The chain are people who were selected to stop the reawakening of an ancient evil, it’s just this AU equivalent of Ganon. 

Hyrule and Legend would be a pair with Hyrule being the weapon and Legend the meister. Hyrule would be a magic rod capable of the spells that he knows from Zelda 2 and somewhat combined with the offensive abilities from his first game. Legend is very good at knowing what to push through and they’re very in sync with each other.

Four kind of goes against Soul Eater canon and his actual canon but in a way that I hope makes sense. He is a weapon, the four sword which in this AU is like a Scottish claymore sword, that’s made of the four colors after they essentially fuse together to create the weapon. Each color is also a weapon, all of them being different types of knives. Green a machete, Blue a trench knife specifically with the brass knuckle handle, Vio is a throwing knife, and Red a concealable switchblade. Shadow is their meister. 

Sky and Time are the next pairing with Sky being the weapon and Time the meister. Sky would be the equivalent of the master sword, an ancient weapon passed down by bloodline. For Sky and Time however, Sky had been a meister until recent events and Time was a weapon in his past.

Wind and Warriors are a pair with Wind as the weapon and Warriors the meister. Wind would be a flintlock pistol. Warriors never stayed the meister of a weapon for longer than a year until he and Wind met.

Finally, Twilight and Wild, Twilight the meister and Wild the weapon. I think Wild would be the bombs from his first game, or maybe another type of sheika tech. I had the most trouble figuring out this pair.

I have much more backstory for everybody but I was worried it would get too long. If you want to hear them though I’d be thrilled to talk about them! I’d also like to hear other headcanons if anyone has them! Especially when it comes to Wild and Twilight 😭 I have part of their backstories but for how they’d function, I’m coming up blank.

Snake Eater:

Gotta be one of the most iconic (and best) songs in the mgs franchise. Vocals and instrumental are both so powerful and tell the general plot of mgs3 through Snake's perspective. Also pretty touching because the lyrics are about the strong feelings he has towards his boss and you don't get to see such a tender side from Snake too much. Incredible song from an incredible game

Aaaaaaaah, the feelings! This song gives a feeling of enthusiasm, discovery, and is really sad also. This is the game that brought to tears a generation of pokéfans.
