Both of our guys keep improving themselves while fiddling with their new familiar responsabilities. While Prince's career started skyrocketing (yay!), Cinder is grasping parenthood a bit better thanks to his guides.

i would love to hear your thoughts about zoe
i'm here to remind everyone that zoe decided to befriend a hundred-headed dragon w terrible breath, just bc she could. like zoe says she could feed ladon by hand! meanwhile, her sisters are still scared of ladon in the present story, some two thousand years later. but zoe and ladon were close enough that he doesn't attack her immediately when she returns to the garden and purposefully makes herself "a bigger threat." i don't think we talk abt this enough.
this is under a read more bc the first bit is the most important part honestly. i haven't seen a single person draw zoe w her hundred-headed, stinky dragon. that feels like a crime.
but i also want to talk abt how she badly hercules burned her. she has no real reason to help him, at no point in their conversation is there any sort of implied transaction, but she helps him anyway. bc she's kind! and it cost her everything she had. her immortal power, her gift from her mother, her family, the dragon she befriended. and she gets nothing from it! not even the slightest bit of recognition. she had to rebuild everything.
anyway. closing thoughts. zoe deserved to shoot a man.

What to do when writing projects seem too ambitious? I was thinking about this idea of a fluffy relationship story between two characters, but now i am not sure if i can pull that off.
Write it anyway.
Okay that's maybe too vague an answer. We had a longer discussion about this here:
But essentially, a lot of people (including me) argued that yes--maybe it is possible, but that doesn't mean you should shy away from it. Every piece of writing is practice for where you want to get to. You might not nail the idea that you have on first try, but you'll get closer. And closer. And then one day you'll have written enough that you've gotten to where you wanted to be.
So.. y'know. Write it anyway.

Throwing another option of HMC dynamic you might have never thought about: Mari and Princess Valeria's friendship would be an unstoppable force of power unknown to making and to prevent this from happening the universe made them exist in different words.

What is your favorite Redwall book?
Mattimeo! It's the first I one read and still my favorite of the bunch. I also liked Redwall, the first of the series, and have vague positive memories of The Bellmaker, but I don't really remember them as well as I'd like.

for so long I was like “why do so many people ask me questions with answers easily found in the books” but now I’m wondering. what if they’re actually not easily found. I just think they are. because i already know so much. and so my perception is completely and entirely skewed.
that or people not having the books on hand but I’m just. like. finally processing that i cannot speak to what a normal amount of kotlc knowledge is at all because I’m such an extreme. I know so much. holy shit guys I don’t think I’m normal

This seems kind of unlikely, but since a few of you have bookbinding experience I thought I'd toss it out there:
I'd like my next practice bind to be a favorite novel, but most of the novels whose full text is easily available are also easy to find as beautiful clothbounds, and thus I already own them. If I bound a favorite classic, my efforts would be redundant. This leaves me with (a) binding a B-tier favorite or (b) attempting to bind something outside the public domain. I'm trying to figure out how feasible (b) would be for me now.
Does anyone know of a method that could be used to harvest text from ebooks into Word or similar? Or can anyone even recommend some less legitimate resources for getting ahold of these texts with the formatting intact?

are there any classics (whatever your definition of that is, actually) that have strong aro/ace/queerplatonic relationship vibes?

AU WHERE GUINEVERE AND MORGAN'S SON'S WERE SWAPPED AS BABES SO LLEU WHO WAS RAISED AS THE LEGITIMATE HEIR IS ACTUALLY THE INCESTUAL BASTARD AND MEDRAUT WHO IS VIEWED AS THE BETTER STATESMAN AND FIGHTER IS THE LEGITIMATE HEIR.
Logically, if that happened, it would probably be Morgan who swapped them, but I think it would be interesting if she wasn't the one who did it and had no clue 🥰🥰🥰
Nonny, you are a genius! 🤯 Remember when me and Yono were confused why Lleu was the sickly child even though Medraut was the child born from incest? Now we have an explanation. Lleu has been the incest baby all along! Morgause shaped Medraut's beliefs and made him loyal to her. It doesn't matter if he's of her blood or not because even if he is not her child biologically, he is her child idologically. A weapon of her own making. Artos' rejection drove him into Morgause's arms. If her plan came to fruition he would have slain her enemies for her and made her queen. It's brilliant, really. Medraut wouldn't even need to become a kinslayer, usurp and start a war. The throne would be rightfully his. All it would take is the revelation of Lleu's bastardy that would disqualify him as a successor.
The plan was never to make a child that could be her pawn as a king. The plan was to make a sacrifice. Morgause bore Lleu to give Artos a distraction while she was poisoning the mind of his real child. And in his shame Artos was playing right into her hands when he send away Medraut and neglected him. Medraut's hunger for parental love made him vulnerable to her manipulations and welcoming of her inappropiate advances.
Artos had no idea he was pampering his sister's bastard while he was treating his legitimate son like a stain on his family. If Medraut were to kill Lleu it wouldn't be regicide, it would be the execution of a pretender to the throne. He'd be treated like a hero instead of the villain he was. ooooh, this is so evil I like it. ^^

have you read Being Nixon: the man divided?
yeah i actually just finished listening to the audiobook of it like a week ago and i was thinking of writing like a whole ass post about it on here because i had a lot of thoughts. i enjoyed it because it focuses a lot on what nixon was like as a person and how his mental/emotional state affected his actions, which i always find interesting, and i learned lots of new stuff from it even though i've read a ton of books about nixon. and many of the observations the author makes about nixon i totally agree with. BUT i was also constantly frustrated by the author's super-sympathetic view of nixon and constant excuses for his actions. guys he was just a poor little meow meow and he was soooo sad and he wanted to do the right thing but external forces and the dark side of his personality were against him 🥺🥺🥺 the most egregious example is this passage:

With a sudden, thunderous roar, the dragon threw its head back, unleashing a sound that shook the very air. The roar was deafening, echoing far and wide like the breaking of a storm, filled with fury and dominance. The red glow of its eyes flared with the force of it, casting an eerie light that danced across its sleek black scales.
As the roar faded into the night, the dragon's massive tail whipped through the air with a sharp crack. The movement was swift and powerful, slicing through the space like a scythe. The tail swished around with fluid precision, coiling and lashing as if testing the air, creating gusts that stirred the stars all around. Each movement was a reminder of its untamed strength, a force as dangerous as it was magnificent.

if you don't mind me asking, and if i just missed something again somewhere thatd answer my question, i am so sorry. but. it seems like even tho with the assumption that korvin is basically from our world, he doesnt know all that much about general comic book lore. so like. how aware is korvin that he was isekai'ed into the comic book world?
don't mind, will clarify.
let's think of it like this. at what point does it matter how much you know about the world you've isekai'd in? especially for a comic book world, in which canon and continuity are already loosely defined? what about it being so close to the real world for most of the time, and then jarringly different during the highest stakes?
are you willing to bet your life on assumptions?
korvin's not.
he knows of batman from the cultural zeitgeist but has my general...uh, disinterest and skepticism in the messiness and narratives of comics and superheroes stories.
and on his general mindset (my mindset): it's folly to walk into something assuming you have the ground truth. a lot of the work i do day-to-day is interdisciplinary aka working between specialties to connect them into a larger analysis. and by god i work with some of the most brilliant people... in their field that can't for the life of them understand and articulate their working assumptions that only WORK FOR THEM. knowledge bias is real and it's a barrier for this type of collaboration. so, i'm extra-wary about going into things treating it like it has to be some way. i rather rely on a more abstracted and fundamental set of first principles and adapt as necessary.
and so you get korvin.
