The men are supposed to have 3 rounds tomorrow.

I would rather have a womens competition, which may have to be pushed or expanded to the afternoon, and two mens round than no womens comp and 3 rounds for the men.

My first reaction was: What??? No 😭

But you know what? Good for him to make such a decision. I hope it proves to be the right one for him at the right time. It's not like he has to prove anything to anybody anymore.

But man, I am sad.

I got back into ski jumping in 2018 after seeing Daniel become ski flying world champion in Oberstdorf. I got back into learning Norwegian because I had forgotten what to say when Norwegians asked if they could lend my flag during the victory ceremony. Thank you for that.

I saw highs on the hill (Oberstdorf in 2018, podium in Innsbruck in 2020) and got the impression in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen that he's a nice, smiling, generous and modest guy beside the hill. Not to forget that he's also always up for funny stuff like the Dirty Dancing parody, doing mock videos for Ramm like "Hver gang vi hoppes" or beating Kenneth Gangnes in a fake game show by eating insects.

I also saw lows on the hill, feeling like there's nothing you can do, and then of course absolutely shocking moments in his life where you can't believe that he came through (sicknesses, hospital, personal tragedies, Planica) - and then he jumped again. His message came through loud and clear: Never give up.

Wishing you all the best for the future, champ! Never stop smiling (and laughing in that unique way of yours that's so catching). I hope life stops giving you lemons and that you are happy with whatever may come in that new chapter for you after your active career. The whole situation with team Norway and Stöckl is just sad and weird. I do feel bad for Stöckl, and I do understand that the jumpers want to focus on competing and results, and therefore won't comment the situation, but I really wish they did say something.

Cause even though I feel bad for Stöckl, and he has done an amazing job as their coach - there must be a good reason behind the athlete's behavior and wishes as well, and a reason for all of the big ski jumping teams in Norway supporting the jumpers wishes. There is a lot that no one on the outside know about, and I am a bit scared that their choice of not speaking about it will have a damaging effect on ski jumping in Norway. A lot of people are engaging, and like 90% gives all their sympathy to Stöckl, and chose to stand beside him - despite of us not knowing why the jumpers want a change.

And people are being pretty damn rude towards the jumpers, calling them all sorts of names and accusing them of being some spoiled brats that are only doing these because of the results so far this season. And poor Forfang really gets a lot of hate, only because people can't understand the difference of him being the chosen spokesperson on behalf of the jumpers, and him as his own person. They are basically blaming him for starting this whole thing and being the mastermind behind it all.
