Styles’s Stylist
River Johnson | VOGUE
Many of you know the singer/songwriter Harry Styles. Whether it be his music, looks or daring fashion sense. Not many know the person who makes him look that good. With the last leg of Love On Tour having kicked off a couple days ago, I sat down with Y/N L/N to discuss styling for the past couple years. As one of Style’s stylists, L/N shares this position with Harry Lambert. Her other clients include Conan Gray and Måneskin.
L/N herself is dressed in custom Bode with a mint plaid set with a pair of baby pink converse to match. It’s clear that she’s planning on looking up to par with the hoards of fans outside of the stadium waiting to be let in for the second show in Coventry. She’s making me feel underdressed in my beat up air forces and dungarees. She assures me that a boa and a matching cowboy hat would have me fitting right in.
“So how has styling him been different post COVID? Have any of your creative processes changed?”
“It hasn’t been all too different from before I suppose. His looks have definitely changed, but a part of that just came with the album. Really the only difference is there’s less interviewing looks to put together because it’s only waist up now. I just have to make sure his shirt doesn't have wrinkles or a stain on it. Which is pretty easy considering we share the same wardrobe.”
“How do you come up with the different looks for each album and show? And does this differ from awards or appearances? Are there different processes? Acceptable designs?”
“I mean the process definitely depends on the event. His looks for the album are based on what he feels the mood of the album is and wardrobe is based on that. For the album he said he wanted to be more colorful and fun, so that's how we got the varying patterns. So don’t blame us for the mis matching looks, blame him (Harry).
“So I'm assuming his tour outfits are the same?”
“Yes. At the start of each leg, we’ll go through possible designs and what we feel will work best from both our (stylist & artist) sides and his opinions. Gucci and I will sketch some ideas and it’ll get sent to the group chats on which pieces we like, then we'll play mix and match and the night of the show it’s pretty much chosen by the band and him.”
“Elaborate on the band. Because I've noticed that they always seem to coordinate.”
“Yes, certain looks from the band go with certain outfits of his or at his request. If he’s wearing all black then he likes the band to wear pink for some reason. Or if some of the band's looks aren’t ready, then we’ll move that look to a different day and pull a different one.”
“Speaking of different days. I imagine it was quite the switch between show looks and award looks.”
“Oh, it actually wasn’t too bad, it was more of the execution. We had had the outfits planned for months, it was just a matter of making sure the tassels didn't tangle and the (red) carpet look came in on time. Show looks require less coordination because normally it’s just the people here”
“He also had a few outfit changes between the two events, he had what six outfits? What was that like?”
“Yeah no, he had six official outfits plus if he chose to change for an after party, which is all on him to decide, and I don't remember if he did.”
“Do you have a favorite look of his?”
“Are we talking shows? Or award wise.”
“Either”
“I mean any of the ones with the decals. It was really fun coming up with all of the different designs. Tonight’s also might win for this leg so far.”
I then proceeded to ask for a sneak peak but she just laughed me off saying how it’ll ruin one of the best parts of the show, the reveal. Upon more pestering, she revealed that color wise they were matching, which if you follow L/N tour looks, you already know. “Back to the decals. You came up with these designs? I thought you were taking a break from that?”
“I was meant to but then the idea was brought up from all of my doodles during the meetings. Plus I was working on Conan’s and the band’s (Måneskin) looks for their tours, so I was ‘cutting back’ on some work.”
Just then the fans started getting let in and I noticed just how seriously some fans took their outfits with a perfect recreation of a previous outfit or on the other side of the spectrum, various fruits. “How do you feel about the fans' outfits?”
“Oh my gosh. We all love them. They make the whole thing better and sometimes we steal inspiration from them. I swear some of the fans could steal my job and I’d be happy to let them.” She then proceeds to show me the album that she has of the fans outfits ranging from recreations of the Coachella outfits or the custom shirts with funny pictures of the band on it.
Upon wrapping up, she asks if I’m doing anything between now and the show starting. I wasn't, so she took me backstage to get a sneak peak at some upcoming outfits and let me tell you something, L/N really went all out for this last leg. The sequins, tassels everything.
Upon seeing tonight's show, I definitely agree with L/N on tonight's look being a favourite and the decal on the back making the outfit. I can definitely say that his outfits make him shine brighter and you should go see if you can snag a ticket to one of his shows to just watch how L/N’s designs enhance his performance at the very least.
A/N: lemme know if you wish to be added to my tag list

December 30th 1915 saw the Cruiser Natal explode in Cromarty harbour, killing over 400 people.
HMS Natal on that fateful day was at anchor in the Cromarty Firth. Her Captain, Eric Percy Coventry Back, had allowed a number of the ship’s crew to take shore leave – many of them to watch, and play, in an inter-ship football match.
For some of his officers however, Captain Back had invited them and their wives to a film show on board. He had also invited a family friend, John Henry Dods – a former Scottish International rugby player – his wife Annie and their children Dorothy, Marcus and John. Captain Back’s wife (their own children were ill) and three nurses from the nearby hospital ship HMS Drina.
At around 3.20 pm the Natal was rocked by an explosion, followed by a further three blasts in short succession. Flames shot throughout the ship but the true seriousness of the situation wasn’t fully appreciated, with injured seaman were being sent to sickbay to have their burns dressed. Orders to flood the magazines couldn’t be carried out and although hoses were rigged no water was obtainable through the fire main system. Within three minutes of the first explosion the ship started to list heavily to port and after another two minutes, she had completely settled down with the forward end of the starboard bilge keel clear of the water.
421 men, women and children lost their lives in this disaster. The loss of the ship was soon announced to the press. Various photographs of the Natal, her crew and the ship’s cat (with the caption “Rudolph, it is feared, was on board at the time”) appeared on the front page of the Daily Sketch two days running. And although they attempted to notify next of kin as quickly as possible, the Admiralty was inundated with letters from family members of the crew.
Although not immediately ruled out, the idea of a submarine attack was soon dismissed. In order to carry out a torpedo attack, a U-boat would have needed to have passed two other ships: another cruiser and an even more tempting target – the battleship Emperor of India. Having talked to survivors personally, and from divers reports, Vice-Admiral Jellicoe was of the opinion that the foundering of the Natal was due to an internal explosion.
As was traditional in the loss of a Royal Navy ship, a Court Martial into the loss of the Natal was held at Chatham between 18th and 20th January 1916. As the highest surviving officer, Lieutenant Commander John Spencer Tyndall was the first to give evidence. He was in the Mail Office and in the immediate aftermath directed the crew to rig fire hoses. His testimony, along with that of others, in particular the divers William Russell and Charles Lambert, confirmed the opinion that the loss of Natal was due to an internal explosion caused by faulty ammunition. (The divers reported that the explosion had blown both sides of the ship bodily outwards)
Today, a buoy marks the spot where Natal sank – the remains of the wreck designated under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986. Many of those who died are remembered on the naval memorials at Chatham, Portsmouth and Plymouth. Of the bodies recovered only 17 were identified and were buried in the local cemeteries of Cromarty and Rosskeen.
More than 100 years later their memory lives on in the local community, with a garden created in her honour at Invergordon, and museums in Cromarty and Invergordon remembering the sinking, a memorial in Durban was erected in 1927.

i have a question how do u think colt would interact w my oc harin 😍
@namraniiart is my art blog that has her information :3
Thank you for this question!!
I've read up on harins backstory and I've gotta say I think theyd get along swimmingly with both of them having loaded backstories yet remaining compassionate and kind people! They also share an interest in art and albeit colt is more about painting whereas harin likes sketching they'd surely bond over that hobby too!
BUT OK ENOUGH RAMBLING HERES SOME INTERACTIONS I THINK THEYD HAVE!!
She would see herself as the older sister of Colt and not shy away from scolding him for taking up bad habits such as smoking
They'd find comfort in each others presence, colt being the calm and collected to harin's more rambunctious demeanour! At the same time harin's free-spirited attitude would help colt lose some of his seriousness and live a little
The two of them could jam out to Elvis together!
THEYD PAINT TOGETHER DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT THEY 100% WOULD. HARIN WOULD SKETCH COLT IN DIFFERENT DESIGNER PIECES AS HE STANDS IN FRONT OF THE NEW COVENTRY SUNSET WITH HIS EASEL. He could also be her model for masculine projects!
Considering her shared past with Ted (which I found very intriguing and would like to hear more about harin's current relationship with him and the other jocks!) She'd attempt to convince colt the jocks aren't all bad, or at least their leader isn't. She'd seek vengeance on Luis when she finds out what he's done to Colt though, NO MERCY (tying into the protective older sis aspect of her personality)
Once again thank you so so much for the ask and I hope you like how I imagine out OCs together I had so much fun writing this AND I LOVE MY GIRL HARIN!!

June of Jesper 2023 Part IV
(cheating a little here perhaps)
Enigma (It's The Repent Harlequin AU!)
@brotherbandarchive
wherein my Heron Dance Troupe AU blends with the short story I read a while back and my bizarre instinct for stage adaptation...continue at own risk
Here's the link to the short story, Repent, Harlequin, Said The Ticktockman, if you're interested:
And: casting!
Jesper as Everett C. Marm AKA the Harlequin, a clownish rebel. As Jesper is the best dancer in the troupe, it makes sense that he has the lead dance role. The style is best described as acrobatic street ballet.
Ingvar as the Ticktockman, the time-obsessed government agent and villain. Ingvar's eyesight gives him trouble dancing, so the Herons work in roles that let him use his acting skills/intimidating presence without too much movement. The Ticktockman moves in straight lines while the chorus dance around him.
Hal as Chorus / the Minee, the Ticktockman's assistant. To be honest, this is mostly a size thing. He practically orbits Ingvar.
Stefan as Chorus / Pretty Alice, the Harlequin's lover and betrayer. This is a nice hefty character role Stefan can get his acting teeth into. He may get a song.
Lydia as Chorus / Marshall Delahunty, the man who tries to escape the Ticktockman's reach. Come on, don't you want to see Lydia perform a desperate tumbling obstacle-course escape across the stage only to have a dramatic death scene at the end? She'd kill it.
Edvin as Chorus / Georgette Delahunty, Marshall's wife. Another nice character piece with plenty of room for face acting.
Wulf as Chorus / Raoul Mitgong. A walk-on comic role. He doesn't help much.
Ulf and Stig as the Chorus — along with the other Chorus-marked cast, playing Scientists, Minees, Workers, Coventry Guards etc. Ulf and Stig are good dancers but not the strongest actors in the crew. The chorus wear very basic costumes and switch characters quickly.
Thorn is their coach and AV tech, of course.
I may do some set/costume sketches later. I may talk to a choreographer and see if I could someday stage this later NOPE NOPE TOO MANY PROJECTS
...unless...

Week 7,8,9- Puppet & Stop Motion Project
The Research-
With the project we had to choose someone famous depending where you would spend your christmas , so i chose Coventry because thats where I live and everyone here knows who The Specials are they were a really famous 2 Tone band during the 70-80s era.
Who would communicate political and social issue during that time through their music . My chosen character for my puppet was on Terry Hall the lead singer of the band , so i researched into him sketched different still life drawings by watching his music videos or band rehearsals or concerts shows, then, the environment he was in as we are paired with a graphic design student who builds our set up place so i talked to my pair and we decided on what tone mood colour scheme and things i wanted to include so chose like an edgy underground music studio basement room , as it makes sense for terry aswell , then i used to experiments from trimester 1 where i did the two complimentary colours only using pen and pencils for his face shots then also did some fineline drawings of places in coventry he has been too which are mostly cathedrals-
The Puppet Making Process-
Then to get started with our puppet we used wire thin and thick, clay two different types ; milliput and polymer clay, also pliers drills and aluminium foil.
For the body we used the wire we twisted the arms and the legs then twisted the hips and the torso together then made a loop for the head, hands and feet, The used tinfoil for the head hands and feet , then i started molding the polymer clay for the head hands and feet and sculpted the face i wanted to exaggerate him and make him unappealing so i made a long pointy nose heavy eye bags sunken eye sockets with no eyes and a downwards big clown like frown with a sculpting tool-
After i did the same for the hands and feet i baked them and put magnets inside the bottom of the feet so it could stick to my stage when i animate it.Then i used the milliput to hold the elbows torso chest hips and limbs of the legs but still left some wire so it could bend- then we used foam we cut it a bit bigger than our puppets body shape then glued it together, i wrapped rope around the foam so it could form the shape and hold it in place after 30 minutes i took the rope off and started shaping the limbs to my preferred size it was more bulkier and thicker than i wanted it to be as my puppet was supposed to be thin but we worked with what we had so thats a tip for next time-

The left pilot was a German Luftwaffe pilot in the sketch, in which they showed Germans using the Baedaeker to bomb Coventry and getting all exited about fudge 😂. I love that sketch way to much. Ben playing Germans is always great.

Pathhead to Everywhere
I’ve been walking in circles for weeks, parched and disillusioned, hoping that pushing ’til I break might break me out of my cycles. I keep walking away from myself, attempting to take refuge in a bright-green past, air buzzing with little black dragonflies, only to find myself frozen, with that song in my ear, watching a man in orange lycra shirt and black bike shorts struggle up a hill.
The pavement’s all cracked and busted open, jolting little dip between parking lot of the petrol station and the road. It’s along these cracks I find a filthy twopence coin. Found two in a dried-out raised garden in Belfast, deformed with strange growths. Discovering loose change on my walks, no matter how disgusting and unusable, is always a happy occurrence, like I’ve stumbled upon some secret.
My leg hurts from all the walking, tendons strained behind my left knee, but I prefer the quiet roadside to the noisy bus, with its engine stuttering along, full of strangers, the driver asking my destination and demanding fare like some medieval gatekeeper I can never seem to please. I’ve replenished my energy with a picnic in the grass, outside a new housing block, and a limerick I’ve written for Sam Fender, mind running wild imagining how sending it on might lead to a tender friendship, a passionate love affair, or both.
Something about the country and the biker and the music I’m listening to inspires me. I pull out my phone and type a poem. It’s a happy moment, etched in my mind alongside the more painful bits. It’s not the only one, either. The picture, as a whole, is marred by anxiety, depression, loneliness, and shame, but when I zoom in, other positive moments come into focus.
On the upper landing of the Lit and Phil, I find respite, huddled in a corner with a pile of poetry books, scribbling away in my journal, observing others’ lives. At the Scottish National Gallery, I journal again, sat on a bench next to an art student reproducing a sketch of The Monarch of the Glen. I’m massively relieved to have found an escape from the social obligations of my hostel dorm and the crush of strange bodies along the Royal Mile. At the Surgeons’ Hall Museum, I examine rows upon rows of organs in glass jars, until my eyes can’t take any more; across the street, at the National Museum of Scotland, I stand in rapture as the Millennium Clock awakens and performs its hourly dance. A bottle of stout suffices for lunch in Portmeirion; I drink it slowly at a cafe table on the patio, near two men sharing a bottle of champagne. In Penrhyndeudraeth, I pull cash from a shady ATM to buy my first ever kebab, walking back to my hotel, triumphantly clutching my spoils.
Bangor provides romantic trails among hillsides blooming with bellflowers, and I spend a whole day exploring Church Island and the surrounding countryside, getting lost along the beaches and sinking into muck, pissing in any shady corner I can find, procuring groceries on the way back from the cleanest, happiest Waitrose I’ve ever shopped in. Aberystwyth offers the best chocolate cake and almond croissants, and I relax somewhat uncomfortably into my seat at a Korean restaurant in Coventry, knocking back soju and spooning up mouthfuls of spicy seafood soup as I listen to a couple on their first date at a table across from me, discussing cybersecurity.
I contrast my pleasant roadside trek from Pathhead to Dalkeith, where I observe the lonely biker, with a five mile trek I undertook from my accommodations in Newcastle to a business park on the outskirts of Gateshead. Green fields were replaced with rows of tidy brick townhouses and a steady stream of cars which carried on past me, subjecting me to their ever-watchful gaze. I looked into every passenger window, imagining he might be there. I dreamt of him stopping and offering me a ride. I’d tell him the story of who I was and how I’d come to be there; he’d commend me for my bravery. That was all I really wanted, for my troubles. Someone to tell me I’d done something cool or worthwhile, to notice the effort I’d put in, how much I’d improved. But no one ever did, and knowing it in myself simply wasn’t enough.
I’m happy to retread my past, in moments like now, where I feel totally fucked. At least in the recounting, I find some worth, and it removes me, for a minute, from my current obsessions over job, money, and future plans. However it felt then, I’m happy to have done it, that I can occasionally escape to those far-flung memories and enjoy the strange, painful pleasures of a foreign land.

1985 - Coventry Kahawa Cafe
1985 – Coventry Kahawa Cafe
Here is another of my belated sketches from the UK. I sketched this in a cafe in Coventry (where we stopped on the way from Oxford to Liverpool) while waiting for my wife to finish a meeting (I added the colour from a photo a few days ago). This probably isn’t the best view in Coventry but it was cold and this cafe was near the carpark (and had a WC!). Thu-17-Feb-2022

Next I needed to come up with some ideas for practical accessories. I sketches out some design ideas for a face mask, an umbrella and a water bottle. I tried to keep the designs as simple as possible to keep the professional look, by just having the Coventry UK City of Culture logo and Instagram @ on there. For the mask however I thought it would look good and would stand out if it had a creative print on there.
