The women in the show are beautiful, smart and capable.....so it doesn't really make sense they would ever want to spend a life with someone like Howard or Leonard. The series fails to show what the boys bring into the relationships and it's mostly hard to see the ships as romantic and functional. I am a romantic, I WANT to ship Penny and Leonard but damn, the show's writing makes it impossible to root for them.

I know that there are countless video essays on all the flaws BBT has (the misogyny, the transmisogyny etc.) and it's all valid. But while the offensive, cheap and bad jokes are terrible, many other sitcoms have them too, BBT is not that special. For me (someone who watched the reruns) most glaring issue is inconsistent writing and weird or none character development. The show could have been good, but they killed it.
