It’s really funny to me that in the BBC version Sherlock is introduced as this badass intimidating cold hearted genius who saw straight through John without lifting a finger while in the original ACD story he’s just really fucking excited about his own discovery, speaking excessively, jumping around in excitement, super enthusiastic about sharing a flat with Watson and is - quote - “a little queer in his ideas”

I'd be remiss if I didn't do Holmes' husband too. So here's a buncha Watson studies featuring him in various stages of his life.

I was trying to figure out how I wanted to draw him. He was a little harder to figure out compared to Holmes, but I adore Hardwicke and Burke's Watsons so he's mostly based off them!

I tried to strike the balance between reservedness vs. vulnerability and I think I've managed to pin him down!

I've just read "The Story of the Man with the Watches", a mystery story by Arthur Conan Doyle. If you're ever mildly convinced the queer undertones in Sherlock Holmes stories are coincidental, I think Doyle clearly had a fascination with different kinds of love

"Then one day he dressed himself as a girl, and carried it off so well, and made himself such a valuable decoy, that it was their favorite game afterwords."

"You lived your brother, I've no doubt, but you didn't love him a cent more than I loved him, though you might say I took a queer way to show it. Anyhow, it seems a mighty empty world now that he is gone."
