What I still can't believe is that League of Legends has a single tiny map they played all the time. It's always the same fucking boring map all the time game after game. No wonder people who play it were like that.

Hopped on for a quick meat run and noticed the sky.
I'm not sure if we'll be getting to Extinction right away since it looks like it'll be very late for us when it finally releases. It miiight have to wait til Monday. :P
I installed The Volcano and have been mostly chilling on it and re-familiarizing myself with the map. I found the Aberration cave already though I don't have a tame yet strong enough to go in. Haven't gotten any screenshots yet, but once I find a perma-base spot and figure out what I want to build I will take some. \o/

i've been taking my time this playthrough, not rushing to do everything all at once and spacing out the exploring with side quests more than i did last time, and i'm not very far in yet but it already feels like the game flows a lot better this way

Recent game related things .. hrmm...
#I do like the inconsistency of the first map. that is actually something older but that I re-found and added to my Game Reference stuff#so that when characters reference where they're from I can be accurate. I like that the whole map is kind of shifted up that way. Where the#actual south part doesnt even count as the south since its Too Far and Scary lol. and if you say you're from 'the north' thats basically#like.. one single continent. Though some people do make distinctions like 'north midlands' or etc. still. I like the ways that common#language isn't always precisely accurate like that. and thinking about why a culture would classify things a certain way or etc. etc.#The inventory page is so funny to me because it's literally just the BASe like.. sample layout just to make sure it works properly with 0#actual design into it. just colored rectangles thrown together in MS paint. but what if I like... left it like that.. what if all the other#art in the game and UI is like stylized and fully matching BUT the inventory/journal/etc. screens I just left as plain colored blocks#with random misalignments and black spots and etc gjhbhjj... It looks unfinished in a Funny Contrast way to me.#the wordcounts are just like... my past few days of writing.. I am still not getting 2200 words a day done or whatever I needed. I'm lucky#if it's even half of that .... tee hee.. :3c I do also keep having appointments and other things going on but..grrr...#The full map of the area is probably not necessary but I thought it would be more realisitc if people were able to reference things. Like i#you have people all living in a city area probably at some point someone might mention a neighboring city or some landmark nearby#or etc. so I thought having at least the basic names of what's around for reference would be sensible. A side character mentioning#'oh yeah I don't live here full time I just travel from Marisene sometimes' or whatever makes it seem more like a Real#Fleshed Out Place than people just making vague references like 'the river' or 'i come from a city nearby' or 'i went to a place somewhere#around here' or 'the other city' or etc. lol.. Especially since global cities/global areas are weird as they operate almost like an#independent country within their walls. so it's like a micro country inside of another country usually. just plopped down in some agreed#upon plot of land that won't be too disruptive to the main country around it. That could get very complex depending on the cultural and#political backdrop of where they're placed (though obviously they try to choose the 'easiest' areas possible for it). Asen is a very mild#country without much history of conflict or anything so it's fine. But still interesting that Sifeh and the entire branched out global area#border three other districts of Asen. Which means like 3 times the local representitives you'l have to negotiate with for some major change#or anything. I think one of the 'random characters you can find around the world and have short discussions with just to make the area#feel more populated and real even though theyre not actual important npcs' is going to be a guy who actually serves on the council that#handles running the global areas and he's like.. some perpetually exhausted middle aged elf running around with a clipboard or whatever#ANYWAY...... hrgh... still trying to write when I can....#I WISH so badly that I had the scope for a simple character creation menu and all character interactions would allot for the background#of your player character. And also to have a simple day night cycle where places in the world you explore/people you talk to during the day#have new options or dialogue at night.. BUT alas... I already am so behind on everything as is lol.. aughhh... T o T#As the worlds number one Needless Detail And Complexity Enjoyer i must dilligently prevent myself from adding additional complexity

i think totk improved on botw in a lot of ways but i also still had the same issues w it that i did w botw and it had new issues as well (the inventory was a nightmare, armor upgrade reqs were ridiculous, too many collectible-based quests esp the fucking hudson signs)
but my biggest complaint was that even with a storyline that i personally found more interesting, there is just zero connection to it at all. botw and totk feel like revenge for skyward sword being so emotional, linear, and story-driven (iirc miyamoto was not happy with its direction and he and aonuma (?) were just undoing each other's work which is partly why the game suffers from repetition)
so now we get zero emotional attachment to anything that's going on except in cutscenes that aren't even required and have no visible impact on link in any way. hardly any of the sidequests feel meaningful, and the ones that could have been always seemed to fall short. the npcs seem weirdly chipper about the gloom spreading, the ground splitting open, and the earth levitating into the sky. many of them that should remember you just... don't, for some reason, like there's so little development in any of link's relationships with any of these people, zelda included, as if he hasn't even existed for the past eight years between games, like what was with the hateno village retconning
my personal favorite quests were awakening the fairy fountains (felt like classic zelda and i liked that it made a permanent impact on the world, even rewarding you with a permanent new rendition of epona's song at every stable), giving all the bubbul gems to koltin (you have to go out of your way to talk to his brother kilton to get the full kinda bittersweet ending and it's a rare touching moment imo), and the balloon thing with rhondson and hudson's daughter (i liked that it actually expanded on a questline from botw and it was also bittersweet), also i liked penn and the newspaper questline
the biggest improvement imo was the shrines, the puzzles were so much more interesting with so many possible solutions, and the temples/bosses were so much better than the divine beasts and stupid scourges
but idk i just... feel like i wanted more from it. to me the story is just as important as the gameplay and tbh in both games link feels so detached from the plot, like it's just happening around him, not to him. and you can argue that in the older games they didn't explore his emotional state or w/e but the narratives were tight enough that you felt immersed anyway, and could project your own feelings onto him. these games actively thwart your attempts to humanize the silent protagonist bc he's more emotional about fucking cooking than about being manipulated by a creepy puppet of the woman he's been with for 8+ years at this point (should've made puppet zelda a boss again smh) or seeing memories of people dying horribly
all of which is too far spaced out between, idk, grinding for lionel parts
with the world as big as it is, nothing in it is allowed to be too big and i'm concerned that this is just what zelda games are going to be like from now on. i hope the next project announced will be something completely different.

Hey remember when the Mario Party DS piracy horror series was a thing and I was like "Man this is triggering me and making me paranoid as fuck but hopefully it'll get more eyes on Mario Party DS cause it's my favorite and severely underrated!" And then no one has talked about Mario Party DS since??

like theres not a lot of games im REALLY good at so when there are ones i latch on super hard. and boy have i latched on to this one
#and i think part of it is that im on console and therefore kinda at an automatic disadvantage?#like no matter what you do you still will never have as many buttons or the quick cursor movement as pc#so you have to make do with way less hotkeys and either just Way Less Weapon Options or brute force your way through them#like most ranged weapons are Ass on console aiming them is so frustrating because you cant just Put Cursor On Enemy And Track It#and grappling is so much harder too#like i have played a lot on pc too so this isnt just me going 'woe is me this must be harder' like it is So Much Harder#i had to kinda build my own key mapping from the ground up bc the defaults werent intuitive at all#except jump‚ you dont feel like having jump on a trigger makes sense and then you set it to b or a and then the next time you want to jump#while shooting youre like Ah. Its So I Dont Have To Let Go Of The Aiming Stick To Jump. and switch it back in shame#but ! all of that combined. console is so much harder. so i think my brain was like 'alright well in that case#fuck you im gonna get good at it anyways' and now we're here#also i didnt realize until recently that most people play it multiplayer???#like i looked up something i cant remember what but it was like 'if you like most others play in multiplayer-' and im like#Wait Huh.#and it said something about the bosses kind of being more scaled for multiple players and that#single player makes it harder again#so im just like. clawing my way through mud and barbed wire for fun#its funny too cause i remember the controls thing almost made me drop it again but then one day i was like#yeah they are weird as fuck controls and complicated as hell but i bet if i did it long enough i could force myself#to learn it well enough to make it instinct#and sure enough !! like the grapple button when i first set it to b it was sooo hard to use at all#forget shit like grapple dashing or grapple dodging i could barely aim it while walking#and then i realized i had to just. only use the grapple when i could be pointing the movement stick the way i needed#so i couldnt use it as often or as versatilely as pc but i can still use it to some degree#adapt achieve overcome etc i fucking love vibeo game#sorry if this is bragging or weird im just very proud of the amount of skill in this game ive built up so quick#its my one (1) thing right now#my other ones are binding of isaac (not dead god but still p fuckin good tbh *tucks hair behind ear)#splatoon (2&3 specifically salmon run)#but those ones arent really active right now

THE BEE QUEEN IS DEAD.
LONG LIVE THE SPIDER KING.
Tumblr media
KING OF THE SPIDERS, SPIDER OF KINGS! KING OF THE SPIDERS, SPIDER OF KINGS! KING OF THE SPIDERS, SPIDER OF KINGS! KING OF THE SPIDERS, SPIDER OF KINGS!
#dst#Don't Starve#Don't Starve Together#webber dst#webber don't starve#original#the context for this is that the bosses in this game are ludicrously strong and not really meant for single players but#you see#if you play as the child with a spider for a head then you can recruit spiders to kill the bosses REALLY REALLY FAST.#which for this game means it still took me like 8 minutes but#(8 minutes and several hours of prep work lol)#BUT IT'S A NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT GAME AND I FINALLY KILLED THE BEE QUEEN WHICH HAS AN INCREDIBLE LOOT DROP#I'm playing on my own. I adjusted the settings of the world to produce so many spiders that I actually had to go around culling them#because certain areas of the map spawned so many spiders that it froze the game and forced me to reboot#it's not a great map to play in if you are any other character and therefore spiders are aggressive to you 😅#but it IS a great map if you would like to defeat every boss in the game using a massive hoard of spiders in hats#I had to individually craft each of those hats by the way it took forever.#before I wiped out about 100 of the 150 spider dens on the map if you attacked a single spider then#there were always HUNDREDS waiting just offscreen to swarm and murder you#I cannot express how much more fun this game is for me now that it has save files#in the original game if you died once you lost all your progress which sometimes meant hours and hours and hours of work#when I say it was notoriously hard I mean the original game was very good but utterly devastating#this version of the game is still hard it's just that you can reset the day if you die. the old one immediately deleted your save file.#anyway I died like three times but I eventually killed the queen and in retrospect probably didn't have to make that many hats#but the good news is basically none of my spiders died!#y'all don't even know - I unlocked every type of spider in the game. i have a home base that is COVERED IN CAVE SPIDERS#I went down into the caves like a dozen times and filled my entire inventory with spitters (the cave spiders that spit) and took them#back up to my base again and again#I've never tried taming one of the Beefalo. or well. I did and then immediately died. maybe tomorrow I'll look up a tutorial.#or I will simply rush face first into the ruins with as many spiders as I possibly can

gotta love how its incredibly easy to make single player gmod incredibly unnerving by just having a map that has good ambience and auto spawning and deleting npcs and objects

i am so curiious what the online component of gta6 will be like, cause rdo not having near the level of success, earning potential, and longevity, and lacking a lot of the well loved and wanted features of gta online, is kinda evidence they might not know How to capture that lightning in the bottle again.
Cause so many games have tried to get a bit of that success by apeing gta online, but failing to meet the basic criteria/missing what it was that made the game so dang successful, and instead starting out as an entirely online predatory nightmare live service.
#like gta online started as a fun online offshoot that had more than enough to do immediately on release#it had enough to PROVE that it was worth investing the time into#it was also - importantly - fucking FREE#it was a like relatively small additioinal aspect of a very solid single player game#that exploded because it just did so mmuch right#it still earns ludicrous amounts of money every year#but the ability to play only with friends - to not engage with other players you do'nt know - to have a bunch of premade mini game types#that functioned on top of the vast array of open world gameplay#off the bat it was a good option#and then bcause of its success they developed it mmore#from what i know/what i remember (so might well be wrong) they didn't plan to continue to develop content for it like they have#they didn't set out with a road map to making a game worth playing#in the hopes of stringing you along long enough for the sunk cost fallacy to kick in#even though it's not fun and not worth it#the game was immedately solid with its core gameplay#obviously they refined it#playing it on 360 when it was fresh out vs playing on pc a few years ago were definitely different quality experiences#but they were both a lot of fun#the game didn't set out with a decades long road map to the hover cars and tron bikes#it just made a solid game and then started thinkng 'what can we add to keep them interested?' afterwards#it didn't start out with the promise of being slowly finished over months and years all while costing you a contnuous amount of money#likke so mmany games trying to ape the success and vibe did#even RDO fucking sucks in comparison#maybe it improved#but the one time i itried it the forced multiplayer mission before going into the forced open access lobby - no private or friends only -#wound up with me getting called racial slurs over voice chat it turned on by default in game#and there just wasn't enough interesting gameplay like mini games and fun encounters#this is't inspired by anything im sure gta6 is coming and saw some speculation about it#imm not going to get it cause i don't care about them and unless the online is v good i wont bother#but im going to guess they'll fuck it up

Biped is a fun little robot 3d platformer game that you can play with friends or you can split screen this game.
This game is fun but it can become emotional and challenging and tricky as you are trying to get through each level without dying. It is an adventure game that will allow you and the other player to work together to complete it.
You basically will need the other player if you are playing with someone but if not then you can basically do it alone or you can play with someone online with the online coop searcher.
If  you are new to the game then there is training to basically teach you everything so you do not go into the game blind and mess up. To walk, you will use your left and right mouse buttons each one moves a leg but it is hard to walk in this game so be careful, you are going to have to time everything perfectly.
You can skate around smooth surfaces if you hold both mouse buttons which is nice but can make things harder or easier depending on how you use it.
You do not have hands in this game so everything is with feet. You are going to use your feet to move around, grab things and open them. I believe this is the most challenging thing in the game not having hands but having to use your feet.
Attempting to complete each level without trying to die and or fall off the map when all you have is feet to use is a challenge and hilariously irritating.
You can also make your own levels using the in game steam workshop which is nice.
