The song I chose is "Rule #1 - Magic" by Fish in a Birdcage with (gender neutral) Reader x Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling. Reader and he have been friends for a while and Reader secretly likes him and finally works up the courage to try to tell Jinwoo that they REALLY like him.

Y/n stood in front of the body length mirror before smiling and nodding your head. You put on just a basic burgundy sweatshirt and burgundy sweatpants, white joggers. You had told Jinwoo that you wanted to meet up with him at the cafe that just opened across from your apartment. You also wanted to tell him that you like him. Like, REALLY like him. You had been nervous since you found yourself crushing on your best friend and worried that yours and his friendship will end because of the crush. 

You grab your keys and wallet and proceed to head over to the cafe after locking your apartment up. You took a deep breath outside your apartment before turning and heading to the elevator. ‘You can do this Y/n. You got this. You can tell him.’ You mentally hyped yourself up as you walked out of the elevator and out of the apartment complex. You were met with the faintest chill of the Autumn breeze and the sounds of car horns and alarms. Stuffing your keys and wallet in your pocket, you jogged over to the cafe and opened the door. 

You looked around before finding Jinwoo sitting down in the farthest corner. He looked ethereal, much more than you had realized. You took a deep breath and walked over to him. “Long time no see stranger.” you said, sliding into the booth just as Jinwoo looked up from the menu. Jinwoo smiled when he heard you. “I apologize for not talking to you sooner. If I would have known becoming a hunter would turn my life into an absolute mess, I would have declined.” He mumbled taking a drink from the water he had ordered you a water too making you smile and your heart melt.  He was such a sweet man that you couldn’t help falling in love. You had fallen the minute you saw his sweet smile again after thinking he was dead.

You and Jinwoo spoke for some time before the sound of music from the speakers lulled the two of you into a comfortable silence. You looked at Jinwoo as he continued to look over the menu. Your eyes traced over his face, mapping everything. You were absolutely head over heels for this man but you were so shy. You didn’t know if you could tell him that. ‘Come on Y/n. This is the perfect time to tell him how you feel. Worst thing that could happen is he tells you he doesn’t feel the same.’ Your thoughts were not helping. You listened to the song that played on the speaker and bobbed your head to the tune of the song.

“Magic- fish in a birdcage.” It startled you from your thoughts as Jinwoo started talking after the comfortable silence you both were in. “Pardon?” You asked. “The song. It's called Magic by fish in a bird cage. My sister listens to this song 24/7 when I am in the vicinity or around the house. The song isn’t bad though. I quite like it.” Jinwoo mumbled before waving over a waiter. You both ordered what you wanted before turning to face each other. “What was it you wanted to talk to me about?” Jinwoo asked. You froze with the straw sticking out of your mouth. 

You swallowed the water in your mouth before leaning back against the booth seat. You played with your fingers before taking a deep breath. “I really like you. Like Like you. You are my best friend but I have feelings for you. I have had a crush on you for the longest time and I was afraid to tell you because I didn’t want our friendship to disappear. I was scared that you would like me back so I just kept my feelings bottled up but I can’t anymore. I like you.” You said, your chest heaving and falling as you waited for his answer. 

Jinwoo smiled sweetly. “I like you too. You are a wonderful friend Y/n.” He said. You blanked at his words. “No Jin, I like you. As in, I want you to date me. Kiss me. Hug me. Call me yours. I want-” You were cut off when Jinwoo leaned across the table, lifting his hand and placing it behind your head and pulling you towards him. “I know. I was just playing. I like you too.” His lips connected to your not even giving you a chance to respond. Your eyes fluttered shut as he kissed you. 

Pulling away from the kiss, Jinwoo leaned back in the seat he was in and smiled in your direction. You were redder than a tomato. You sputtered and tried to get yourself to cool down and Jinwoo wasn’t helping either. He was chuckling at your little freakout moment but found it in himself to reach out and intertwined his fingers with yours. You stopped and looked down at your connected hands and a bright smile appeared on your face. “Here are your orders…am I interrupting something?” The waiter asked with a knowing grin on his face. You turned and glared lightly and teasingly at the waiter before he shrugged, placed the food on the table and winked at them before leaving. 

“Remind me why I got him a job here?” Jinwoo mumbled, rubbing his forehead. You cackled as you started to eat the strawberry cake that was brought out for you. Jinwoo smiled as he watched your eyes light up with glee as you ate the piece you had cut with the fork. “I think that we will be coming to this cafe. It's rather nice and quiet so I like it. Makes a great place for a hunter like me and you to do some studying up on portals.” Jinwoo said, holding your hand in his as you both left the cafe to continue walking around. 

You snuggled up close to Jinwoo as you both walked through the now busy streets. “Where to next?” Jinwoo asked, looking down at you with a gentle smile on his lips. “Hmm, how about the bookstore.” You said grinning big. He rolled his eyes knowing that would be your answer but agreed. He couldn’t say no to you. Not when you had the courage to tell him you liked him even though he was gonna do that exact same thing. ‘I’m so lucky we became friends when we did. Y/n is everything to me.’ Jinwoo thought as he watched you dart from one book to the next with four books already in your arms.

Hear me out: Jin Woo with a shy!s/o who can sing like a Siren but thinks their voice is bad

I think the first time he heard them sing he'd be shocked. First time he heard them sing was when he was an E- rank while reader thought he was asleep.This being after a particulary rough raid. Kinda just singing random melodies to help him sleep. When he asks about singing, s/o denys it using the excuse of the radio playing.

(When he hears a recording of the same voice, it's from Jin Ah's phone as a ring tone. Jin Ah doesn't dare tell him, being sworn secrecy by s/o, saying "oh, it's just a friend". It would be funny if this is something Jin Ah holds over him too ajdbhdbd)

After his second awakening, I'd imagine he'd finally hear the singing again. when he arrives home early without his s/o noticing using Shadow Exchange Divine melodies floating though the space, just to find his s/o by themselves filling the silence. Wher his presence is acknowledged his s/o is startled af and gets shy, denying profusely while blushing up a storm.

Jinwoo is now seriously considering trying tobuy a copy of his s/o's voice recoding from JinAh. (Jin Ah did not take the offer and insisted it was made for them, teasing him EVEN MORE)

Mf treats it like a forbidden fruit. aluxury that he keeps trying to indulgein. Jinwoo's been trying to find a way to hear them sing again but s/o hasbeen successful in his evasion after that one time sjbdidj. (He thinks the shadows are helping them .. He is 100% correct)EVEN THE SHADOWS GET TO HEAR THEM SING DIRECTLY TO THEM (ONLY ONCE OR TWICE BUT STILL)(doesn't even include the ones when s/o is just singing to fill the silence) Its even more funny if it BOOSTS MORAL foR The ShADOW ARMY TOO. Sure Jinwoo can hear them sing through the shadows but its muffled and nothing compares to hearing it in personally.

I think it would eventually accumulate to Jinwoo arriving home on a particularly bad day, drowing in his own thoughts. And reader being the only thing that pulls him out of it.

Jinwoo barely registers coming home at all, taking of his shoes. Nothing. Just him and his thoughts. The abyss threatening to take hold ofhis mind. Eventually he comes to his senses. First thing he registers, is a voice. After a while, it's then fingers combing through his hair, and then the surrounding softness. He's in bed, cleaned up, with his head laying on his s/o lap. Opening his eyes, Jinwoo sees s/o staring into space while feeling their running fingers through his hair. Serenading him with the same melodies from the first time Jinwoo heard them as an E-Rank. He doesn't dare break the moment of peace. When his s/o notices he's back, there's palpable relief, no shyness or doubt: And after checking in on eachother, they enter a comfortable silence before switching positions so Jinwoo is laying on s/o chest before exhaustion takes hold completely. The next morning, Jinwoo asks how he got cleaned up. Still in bed, and nestled in eachothers arms, his s/o very quietly confessed to just giving him commands while singing to getting himself cleaned up. But also notes the aid from the shadows too. (The shadow soildures taking comands from his s/o? S/o comanding him like a siren??? Questions for another day) Then he asks about why s/o doesn't sing around him. After a bit of resistance and wiggling in protest. Flustered, shy to high heaven and unable to escape Jinwoos grasp, s/o admits that they think their singing is bad. What.? ( The same voice thats Jinwoos been trying to hear again for months?? The same voice that his-sister uses a recroding of against him? The voice that shadow army worships to a concerning degree?? That voice??) After some silence, Jinwoo proceeds to reluctantly confess his obsession with their voice. The jealousy he has for his sister and the army hearing them sing before he could once again. (Hes kinda pouty but dosent want to admit it ajndjdn). All while showering them in affection, giving playful kisses here and there. Jinwoo savours how cute their s/o becomes as they fluster under the attention and giggle about his pettiness. In the end, s/o agrees to stop hiding their voice from them. A few days later, Jinwoo receives a recording from s/o of them singing a familiar melody. If he proceeds to lowkey rub it in Jin Ah's face, then it's none of our buisness.

After that, Jinwoo picks up the habit of sneaking up on his s/o singing and not saying anything untill their done Even teasing them a bit, before showering them in compliments wth the most lovestruck look. (Theres something so domestic about coming home to his s/o singing that fills him with so much love, that it makes him more determined to protect)

Its to the point that Jinwoo will ocassionally space out if he hears his s/o singing though his shadows… Has he gotten distracted durring sparing sessions with other s-ranks or during meetings because of this? Yes. Does he care? Absolutely not. Will it happen again? Probably. (Even funnier if he has a blank expression while spacing out scaring people unintentionally) It would be even sweeter if Jinwoo starts calling them "little siren" much to s/o flustered dismay.

Idol!Sung Jinwoo in which his theme revolves around darkness ofc. But specifically it revolves around time and the bitter clutches of being alone on the bring of insanity.

His songs revolve around the idea of wandering in an infinite loop. Existential crisis and such. The pain of being being alone. The agony of a soul who yearns for the spotlight, who yearns for recognition, the crave for glory.

He sings songs of misery, of tears, of anguish and longing. His instrumental with dramatic violins and pianos. Luring you even more into the dark depths of the abyss that he embodies. He tugs at your soul with his deep voice. Lullabies that are full of sadness and complexities and such

Idol!Jinwoo in which his solo choreography is similar to an emotional ballet. Fluid movements as if he were drawing shadows in the air. Hypnotizing you with his movements that were ever so beautiful and graceful.

Though, he does take a change of phase sometimes. Love songs that are just fluffy and warm, dreamy instrumentals that goes along with his deep voice. It's as if he is coaxing you, cooing at you ever so lovingly. His love songs make you feel like dancing around in the rain in his hand. He makes you feel like a princess with how gentle and loving his voice becomes.

A lullaby so to speak, a lullaby that makes you feel like you are floating on clouds. A field of flowers on your bare feet, and there he is, guiding you in such a breath taking view. He wants you to feel his heart, he wants you to feel important, his love songs exist as his canvas of longing.

"Can you call out my name sweetly once more? Let me hear your voice, part your pretty lips and utter my name." His voice lowers into a teasing whisper, tickling your ears and most especially your heart. After all, our Jinwoo is such a charmer.

Today I woke up all confuse cuz I dreamed with Jinwoo BUT Odysseus!Jinwoo and idk if it was before leaving Ithaca or during his odyssey. Thing is he heard of a fortune teller who could see the future too (I forgot the name? If it have one…)

I WAS THAT PERSON TF the bastard kidnapped me 💀 but he promised me food and a place to sleep. Protection too but I have to travel with them and use my gift to help him.

About that Architect x Sing Jin Woo fic. What if the Architect had been really obsessed about male to female beauty standards because it's the first time he has seen them? Considering the fact that in the LN he was stated to be a hermaphrodite, which is why he had both a female(used by the system) and male voice.

And also it would be funny if Jin-Woo thought he had been courting like a woman, because he only heard the voice of the system, only to find out that it was a huge 7 feet statue with no separate gender. He is probably in bi panic when he sees the architects true form.

Jinah: LOL oppa got catfished! Catfished by a 7 foot tall statue!

(Things would be far more hilarious if the system also had a loli voice. Luckily for Jinwoo, there was no loli voice.

I’m very happy with my year in reading. I hit my new year’s goal of 52 books finished. And I read a lot of things that I really fucking loved. Lots of robots. LOTS of scifi/fantasy sapphics which I am SO happy about. Some good horror, some good fucky “romances”. A lot of things written in response to the Trump era or written during 2020 lockdown.

I also enjoyed partaking in online book fandom for the first time in possibly ever! Especially Murderbot fandom, which is very active and creative and lovely.

For 2024, I am going to keep my goal at 52 books and save any extra time I have for rereading old things.

tldr:

deaw (named after morning dew - actually the old english way of spelling it) was adopted by two women (sinistra and lucia) who lived on the outskirts of rural new york in their homestead, following a sustainable lifestyle. life was musical, ideal, and isolated, with leisure time spent running alongside deer, singing to the moon, and bathing in the wild rivers.

life is idyllic until lucia ups and leaves overnight, seemingly with no warning signs, and no attempt at communication. the remaining family is heartbroken, but carry on as best they can, though deaw is particularly wounded by the sudden abandonment. 

years pass. chance leads to deaw discovering a letter addressed to sinistra from lucia dated the night the latter left, and he sets off to find her.

PSYCH. he is a replicant bladerunner. up until this bullet, his memories were fabricated by a memory-maker; it is this same memory-maker who made him sweet and whimsical and wild, who gave him a natural extinct castrato's voice (without the horrific injury so well-associated with the practice) so he could sing with the wild birds, who made him find love and beauty even in the darkest and most decrepit places. abrubtly, this memory-maker was replaced by another more... efficient. one that helped hone him into a more ruthless bladerunner.

unfortunately, the work of a bladerunner goes against his very nature crafted by his first memory-maker. though he is extremely skilled, he hates the work, hates that he was also made to be so proficient at retiring replicants. secretly, he yearns for a future free of stoneage industries, and he dreams of one day meeting his first memory-maker. to understand them. to better understand himself.

SUMMARY: deaw is a creature of contradictions and dichotomies, love and wrath, tenderness and easy, fleeting touches and a penchant for altruism and restlessness. a made nymph, as wild and freefalling as his 'mothers', but with a great affection and tenderness towards his fellow 'man'. unfortunately, he's an incredibly proficient bladerunner.

They See You Crying And Want To Comfort You

Jaehan

It doesn't take long for Jaehan to get sad when he hears the small sobs coming from your shared bedroom. He would walk there and slowly get closer while asking if everything was alright. To comfort you he'd lay down beside you and wrap an arm around you gently. He would stay like that for as long as you need him to, singing to you softly when you request it.

Hwichan

Hwichan would try to get you to talk about what's troubling you so he can figure out what's wrong. He wouldn't like to see you crying so he would get tissues to wipe your tears. When you'd stop crying he would get you your favorite plushies if you have one and would give it a silly voice to try and cheer you up.

Sebin

Sebin would cry with you. He'd do his best not to but he couldn't hold back. Seeing the person he loves just crying makes him feel helpless. He would comfort you by holding you in his arms, petting your hair, and gently kissing your cheeks. All this while silently crying himself. He would only calm down after he makes sure you're calm.

Hangyeom

Hangyeom would try to get you to speak about it, and if it doesn't work he'd leave to get you something you love. Flowers, snacks, anything to cheer you up. And when he'd come back home he'd give them to you in hopes to make you feel better about whatever's troubling you.

Taedong

Taedong would be attentive to you, trying to figure out himself what's wrong. He knows you very well so most of the times he could tell if you're crying of sadness or tiredness, or anything else that could've made you cry. And he usually has a solution for each of those. Most of them would include cuddling you and calming you down by playing with your hair and whispering sweet things to your ear.

Xen

Jinwoo would make sure to do everything to make you feel better. He would start by cuddling you, then if it doesn't work he'd offer to run you a hot bath so you could relax. That usually would work so he would be quick to start the bath and light candles to make sure you can have the most relaxing time. If you ask him to stay in the bathroom with you he would, and he'd hold your hand or rub your arm. He would even get in with you if you ask.

Jehyun

Jehyun, just like to Sebin, would cry with you. His tears would fall down silently as he watches you looking this fragile. He would cuddle you and rub your side gently while holding you close. He wouldn't ask you to talk about it and instead would let you bring it up if you want to. If you do bring it up, he'd listen carefully and would let you say everythig you want to say before speaking himself.

Kevin

He would try to cheer you up by acting a bit playful. Of course he would ask what's wrong and if you want to talk about it, but to comfort you he'd do what he does best, make you laugh. He would act silly and give your plushies voices, similarly to Hwichan. When you'd calm down he'd offer a movie night to change your mind.

Junghoon

Junghoon would think of the best way to comfort you. Yes cuddles are always a good option and it always works. But in times when he finds you crying alone, he knows that just cuddles won't solve this. He'll ask what he can do to help you and comfort you the way you need him to. If it's cuddles, then he'll cuddle you. If you need to talk, he'll listen. If you need him to run you a bath or give you a massage, he'll do it.

Hyuk

Hyuk will listen to you and cuddle you at the same time. He'll remind you of how much he loves you and that he wishes he could take your sadness and troubles away. He'd probably list off his favorite things about you in hopes it would make you happy again. He would keep you close for a long time just cuddling you and kissing you.

Yechan

Yechan wouldn't like to see you in such state. He would turn from a happy puppy to a sad puppy. He would make you a hot drink and would offer to cuddle on the couch, hoping it would take your mind off of whatever is troubling you. He would listen to you if you wanted to talk but if not, he would simply hold you close and make sure you're comfortable as you calm down.

I’m pretty sure that once in a relationship Jinwoo tries to learn even more about Haneul and her family.
