fennel’s tol dad, sindriel forelen!

sindriel was - is? - an elven prince, but thankfully a rather minor one and not any sort of heir, so there was only a minor fuss when he noped out of an arranged marriage and ran away from home. he’s rather quiet and not overly demonstrative, happiest when he’s with his family and rather withdrawn when found without. he comes off as a lot grumpier than he is and specifically works to be open with his emotions around his family, since it wasn’t something that was super important when he was growing up.  

he likes dying his hair so i had a couple of different color schemes in mind, but i ultimately decided to go with his natural hair color. as most of his skills lean toward killing people and stealing thing, and he and his partners are now wealthy, retired ex-adventurers, he’s the one who stays at home with the kids.

Sindriel is obviously inspired by medieval fantasy elves. When I was trying to come up with some male character to pair up with Julian, I thought it would be interesting to make one with really long hair. I was having headcanons on Julian playing with MC’s hair, one thing leads to another and, finally, I decided to make him an elf, ‘cause elves look hella cool with long-ass hair.

But since there’s no elf culture in The Arcana universe, I had to create my own. I kind of mixed the concept of the elfs from The Lord of The Rings, the night elves from World of Warcraft and the vastaya from League of Legends. In the end, I came up with the elvish kingdom of Ethwan, a huge bright colorful forest full of magical creatures, inhabited by the mysterious elves!

Sindriel’s magic is inspired by shamanic and Wiccan dragon magick, which I’m also studying. So, just as Saoirse, as I develop Sindriel, I also learn about my path!

The core of his magic comes from his lantern, lit by the breath of his guardian. It grants him the power to cast elemental spells, speak and understand animals and nature, communicate quickly and kinda vaguely with his guardian spirits and send messages through the elements. He’s also a ranger and can work perfectly with bows and crossbows, sometimes enchanting them to work with magical weapons.

Really important: he’s not an apprentice! He is a magician that went to Vesuvia with Saoirse, the actual apprentice, to make her company while she was learning magic with Asra. He also died from the plague and came back to life, but didn’t lose his memories like Saoirse did. He was brought back by the dragons, that was when he got his lantern and the complete control over his communication with his guardian. 

So, that day was pretty bad for Julian. First, he found out he lost Saoirse, his young nurse apprentice, and later he looked for Sindriel, wanting to cry on his shoulder, and found out he was dead too.

By the way, the way Julian and Sindriel met each other was the fluffiest thing you can imagine. The first time they saw each other, Julian and Asra were hanging out and Asra brought Sindriel with him. Ilya was very curious about his pointy ears and kept asking about his origins and the elvish culture all night. Saoirse, Asra, Portia, and Nadia were shipping them. They got the two in a blind date and their love story started after that <3

Arrested for: Where do I start? Disrespecting an officer after trying to bribe them with cookies; vandalism for drawing dicks on everything; using nunchakus in states where they’re not allowed; And the most probable is for aggression because he stole some kid’s scooter and used it to hit a guy that called him and Julian “f**gots”, but they couldn’t prove the guy was an a-hole first.
