Mr. Burns (and jealous Smithers) in 2x2: Simpson and Delilah
---

---
---.
#I admire diabolical Smithers#He really gets peeved when others get between he and Burns#Also I find it interesting how Mr. Burns calls Homer an OLD GEEZER as soon as he loses his hair#It sounds to me like Mr. Burns is projecting feelings of inadequacy towards his own baldness onto Homer#I think he's jealous of his hair too and it's why he pokes fun at Smithers for being jealous. Even calls him “tired” and “old”.#More projecting. It's like he's seeing his own flaws in Smithers -- being jealous and old and tired#And so he starts treating him badly. directing his self-loathing at Smithers. and attaches instead to Homer#who is what he wants to be#but then at last he admits he understands the sting of male pattern baldness#I love how effeminate Mr. Burns appears to be in his youth#thats consistent#He still exhibits effeminite qualities even now#He's rather dainty#He also cross-dresses more than once#The Simpsons#Mr. Burns#Waylon Smithers#Burns x Smithers#Simpson and Delilah

I still go back to classic Simpsons when I’m feeling blue. I remember being a kid and being miserable in school, and I would come home and watch the Simpsons and the episodes would always cheer me up. Especially with episodes like this ‘Simpson and Delilah’ (S2, E2). Where the ending is pretty sad. But, the story has a point. The first five seasons of the Simpsons were the best; they just had neat stories, and they had nice little points to them, as well as being funny. … As a 31 year old man, I was lucky enough to have the show be on a lot, on Channel 4. And I’ve seen the episodes hundreds of times, and know all the lines. But, whenever I’m feeling blue and could do with lightening up a bit, I stick the golden oldies on. Ace stuff.

Coming back to bother you more, with questions 27 and 34! (it rhymes)
27 – Did your OC ever date a character from the show? Are they currently in a relationship? Do they have exes?
Delilah has 3 ex husbands and like, a dozen dead boyfriends, all of which were a means to an intelligence-collecting end.
If you ask, she'll deny any involvement in any of their deaths, and that she was so sad she cried for 3 days for each dead partner. Boohoo.
As for canon characters, heheh... Yeah. Although they didn't officially become boyfriend and girlfriend </3
34 – Your OC is interviewed live on Channel 6 News! What could be a reason for this to happen?
"Now onto today's topic of discussion: Is capitalism a good and fair system of government? We asked a genuine Slavic communist!"
"..."
"I-"
"Trick question! You NEVER ask a commie for their opinions on our government!"

I am begging you please make more head cannons for Andy Barclay and his kid 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Alright ;)
Dad!
Andy barclay x !12!daughter!delilah!reader
Dad and auntie Kyle are talking about some shit whilst I'm just listening to the Hamilton soundtrack through my earphones. I was on Non-stop and they were arguing Non-stop.
"I'm not a bad driver!" My dad says like he isn't, but he is. I'm suprised how he hasn't been arrested for suspection of a DUI yet.
"You are, dad." I say with a small smirk, but I knew I'd get in trouble.
"Thank you!" Aunt Kyle says happily with a smile. In most debates like this, I'd be on her side.
My dad was discombobulated at how I was on my aunt's side and not his.
My dad does have some pros and cons to his driving, but I just think there's more cons then pros.
As they tept talking, I kept thinking about my mother and her death. I saw her die when I was 4 and I can't belive I still remember. Her blood was gushing out of her stomach on the floor and my dad was heartbroken, I think he still is. I have nightmares from when she died. What if it happened to me? I don't think anyone could slaughter someone's daughter, but chucky would.
On the left backseat next to me was my pink bunny from when I was younger. My godmother from my mother's side got it for me when I was 2 years old and it's the only thing that's keeping me going.
We have boxes of my mom's stuff, but they're just at home. My favourite is her wedding dress when she had to marry my dad when she was 23 and he was 25. It was- wait, it is beautiful.
After a while, we got to a gestation and me and my dad just got out and leaned by the car whilst my aunt Kyle went into the convenice store.
My dad pulls my earphones out and smirks whilst I looked up at him surprisingly.
"Daaad! I was listening to Hamilton!" I say with a sad voice.
"Oh god, not that play where people from the 1800s rap! What is it with that musical anyways?" He asks with a irrated voice and smirk.
"It's a good musical!" I say innocently like I'm backing up thr musical more then my father.
"Maybe I'll have to see." He says with a sly smirk and then ruffles my hair up but I had the perfect French braid.
"Daaad! I spent 2 hours on this in the car!" I say with a sad and innocent but cute voice.
He chuckles softly and smirks and says "Just hold on a sec." And then grabs a hairbrush from the glove compartment of the car and then pulls the hair tie out of my braid and then he makes me hug him and he starts to brush it and braid it. It always felt nice when he did it for me.
I stayed still and quiet and just kept on hugging him as he braided my hair, thinking he'd take a while, but he actually did it under 4 minutes.
"Done." He said with a proud smile.
"Already!?" I ask as I look up at him whilst still hugging him.
"Yeah, kid. Think I forgot how to braid my daughter's hair?" He asked and chuckled softly.
"But I didn't know it'd be this quick! You took like 2 hours before each school day!" I ask as my suprisement turns into a smile.
"I only did that so I could spend more time with my angel." He then lifts me up and spins me around like when I was 6.
"Dad, stop!" I say whilst giggling softly and smiling as I kick around for him to stop.
"Alright, alright." He then drops me down and my aunt Kyle comes back out from the convenice store and walks over to us.
"What were you both doing?" She asks curiously, as my dad was still hugging me but I was being held up on my thighs.
"Just messing around. What's it to you?" my dad asks my aunt with a small smirk and then he kisses my check and drops me down.
"Well, here." She passes my dad black leather gloves and passes me the same.
My dad and I put on our gloves but he whispers to me "just get in the passenger seat." And I was confused.
I just nodded and got in the passenger seat and he got in the driver seat. After we both closed the doors, he leaned over and fully locked mine.
"Dad, what's going on-"
"Just trust me, baby." Hr said reassuringly.
My aunt then came over and knocked on the window after she tried opening the door and said irratatedly "haha, andy. Open the fucking door." But he wouldn't budge.
"Delilah, open the door." She said but I looked over at andy and he shook his head, so I shook my head at her but with eyes that said "I'm sorry".
As she tried getting in, my dad decided to just drive off and I felt bad but listened to the music on my earphones to drain the feelings out.

rewatching simpsons. just rewatched 2x02, homer and karl are tomgreg coded, with the roles reversed. that is all
#mainly bc karl gives off insane tom vibes it has to be said#i literally forgot all about this ep omg#it’s one of my faves#‘my mother taught me never to kiss to a fool!’#karl i love you dearly#i’m sad he’s only in one ep as far as i remember#was literally watching the ep being like ‘i’ve definitely seen this one before’ then karl showed up and i was like ‘ohhh it’s this one!!!’#sooooo funny of the simpsons to have homer be kissed by a man and clearly not care and then be revealed as homophobic a while later#like it’s not adding up#the continuity of homer’s homophobia is off just anyways imao#it would have made more sense to have homer’s phobia before simpson and delilah but sure i guess#the fact that homer kisses karl years before smithers is canonically revealed as gay outside of the ‘in love with mr burns’ joked#he is an innovator <3#he broke grounds in 1990 babes x

Upon first glance, you'd think Mr. Burns has delusions of grandeur, but he's actually quite aware and realistic.
He knows of his shortcomings (or perceived shortcomings) and sometimes tries to work on them, other times realizes it's not in his nature.
There are times you'll hear him say things like "I'm a proud fellow, it's difficult for me to admit this" or "I can't be that way, it's just not me". He admits he has trouble understanding certain things (such as how to attract the fairer sex), realizes he has frailties and that he's physically weak (he gets mad at Smithers in an episode when Smithers cheers him on after he threw the baseball only a foot).
A really good example of How He's Perceived vs How He Really Is is in "Brush with Greatness", episode 2x18.
Mr. Burns is looking to commission someone to paint/draw him, so that he can be immortalized (Smithers put him up to it).
It starts with him having commissioned many different artists, but he doesn't like ANY of their work.
"Garbage!" he says.
He had an entire closet full of art he didn't like. You can see that some of the work is fantastic and that many of them did a perfect job of replicating his image. One might assume "oh, he thinks these renditions are inaccurate and that he looks better in real life".
That's actually exactly what Homer thinks:
BUT when Marge is alone with him and they're discussing the commission, he implies TWICE that he doesn't find himself attractive.
"Can you make me beautiful?"
"I'm no matinee idol, you know."
This is the definition of a "matinee idol":
So he actually DOESN'T find himself handsome, and when the artists draw him accurately, he gets upset, because he thinks he's ugly. What he really wants is for someone to beautify him, draw him in a way that makes him feel good about himself.
---
Kind of unrelated, but not completely -- I noticed more than once that when he feels a certain negative way about himself, he projects those feelings onto other people. He does this consistently (at least in earlier episodes). It's subtle but it's a consistent pattern, so definitely deliberate.
When Homer comes in feeling good about his appearance because he lost weight, Mr. Burns gets nasty and mocks him for "being pleased with his current appearance" (his exact words). He wants Homer to feel ugly, because he feels ugly.
He did something very similar in "Simpson and Delilah" (2x2), where he projects onto Smithers, randomly calling Smithers "old and tired" and poking fun at him for being "jealous" (this was an episode where Homer grew a full head of hair, and Mr. Burns later confesses that he is insecure about his own baldness).
A lot of times his insults to other people tell you how he actually feels about himself. It's interesting
