Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's novelization will be published in paperback, e-book, and audio book on April 16 via Titan Books. The film hits theaters on March 29.
The 320-page book is written by Greg Keyes (Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong novelizations), based on the screenplay by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean), Simon Barrett (You're Next), and Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy).
The almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla face a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The latest epic will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

Seeing Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire this past weekend made me so nostalgic for the time I went to a screening of The Guest (which has ended up being one of my favorite horror movies forever) back in 2014 with a Q&A by the guys (Adam Wingard, Simon Barrett, and Dan Stevens) and I'm so proud of all them. Also I STILL can't believe this happened?!

CONTRACTED (2013)
Tumblr media
Girl gets the start of a demonic zombie virus? Interesting. A good view at how we treat lesbians/bisexuals differently. Not a very good movie though.
⭐⭐
(Trigger Warning Sexual Assault)
Tumblr media
Bisexual/lesbian girl is being treated like shit by her girlfriend, Nikki. She hates her mom. She wants to be a botanist and take her Orchids to plant shows or whatever. She goes to a party and gets sort of raped by this dude who gives her a wicked STD. Bad shit is going down in her body. Nikki finds out from Alice, a friend who is in love with Protagonist, that she had sex with a man. Protagonist snaps and kills Nikki, then goes to find Alice. Alice is not surprised that Sam is grotesque and even lets a kiss happen. Sam vomits blood and Alice totally overreacts and gets murdered. Riley comes over dtf. They fuck. Car wreck and she bites the mom. (A plot movie that tries to be an indie film)

Shudder has plenty of hit or misses in their catalogue and "Azrael" plays the middle namely because of it's pacing which makes the film asţ much a a slog to get through as IFC's "In A Violent Nature" which released earlier this year. The mute premise was also handled better by John Woo with "Silent Night", but the gore and the "Baby Driver" earphones-in fight scene was a plus. A pregnant woman with a meat cleaver? That was dope. The cult like summoning of Moloid-like mud people using qi-gong breathing techniques? That was unique. But putting this film in the forest, just wasn't the move and gave "Azrael" too much of that "In A Violent Nature" taste. If only the cars at the beginning of the film with the kidnapping would have drove off into a city instead of deeper into the brush, then I would barely have an issue with "Azrael". But still, all those problems aren't enough to make me not watch "Azrael" over and over again. But then again any flick with a preganant woman and a bunch of gore is going to be a draw for me. I recognize my bias, knowing that there is a better movie in here if the setting was switched and if it would have been a "talkie", but I'll still try and catch "Azrael" as much as I can before it vacates it's limited run in U.S. theaters. -
