Curse of Strahd; Off the Shits continues a pace as our DM kindly works to let us play out an endgame we've been building towards for years.
IN THE MEANTIME more of our bullshit;
Touchingly, Garland's dead husband Creed helps him cast Spirit Shroud.
Milan's Pinup, with perpetually sharp kitchen knife.
Whenever we meet the old men who are irrefutably barreling on towards their tragic destiny we keep bullying them into being sensible and maybe not doing the dumbest thing imaginable to keep perpetuating their cycles of tragedy. Bully! That! Old! Man!
Milan is having a time.
But he's still here to read the cards for Mortimer's father... oh wait that's genuinely an awful reading... oops.
Vol tries to convince Kasimir not to be stupid (bullying works better.)
Osry is not easily deterred from the hunt for knowledge but we did decide better of going to the Amber Temple for now.
Milan's familiar, Illya has kindof been through it of late. He's fine though.
Vol killed Sangzor the Blood Goat one-on-one (12 rounds, it was a long fight) and gets some new gear and also a ton of barbarian/druid assistance from the mountain folk? Fuck yeah. I think they're taking it pretty seriously though, even if it's Vol. (Not gonna lie it was very fun to have my own special combat segment, much thanks to Dr Prof DM DJ ModMod jenjenjenjamin.)
And one last thing - Mortimer banishing his father, who has been DEEPLY UNKIND TO HIS BOY (and the Morninglord's specialist baby!)

Simic Hybrid, at least the D&D version. Basically a human/elf/veldalken that got fused with a few parts of aquatic creatures and reptiles. Fins, claws, tentacles, shells, acid spit, that sort of thing. They prefer to be referred to as "guardians," and while created as soldiers they do sometimes go rogue, never truly accepted by outsiders for fear they're spy.

SHELBY MISCHIEF (he/they)
Simic Hybrid Artificer - Artillerist
AND SO THE THIRD SET BEGINS
A flamboyant young pirate captain 'blessed' by the creatures of the deep. Loves tinkering and building magical explosives and cannons. Strikes cute poses as things blow up.
D&D OCs - Redesigns 2025 - Set 3 #1
UNDER THE CUT: old 2024 design & notes
Tumblr media
This design has barely changed, I just wanted to make him even cuter. I am a simple beast. Also I wanted to incorporate his tentacle-hair situation into the design and flow of the silhouette a little more seamlessly. I like the idea that the tentacles sprout specifically from Shelby's head, and the longer ones are able to function like extra limbs. They're not terribly strong, but they can be used to manipulate simple devices quickly and assist with stabilizing his weapons when firing.
I think maybe the shortened tentacles are ones that he keeps tied up or stunted because managing that many limbs isn't something humanoids (he's a verdan specifically, part-orc, part-goblin) were built for, and as such it's like a second organism using the same heart and brain. So he doesn't use most of the tentacles for anything other than styling because it can get mentally overwhelming. Though I do like the idea that they still move and react involuntarily when he's surprised or in an emotional state.

Recent DnD character I made for a Curse of Strahd campaign (her name and colours are based on the tourmaline gemstone)
Also because of my past work in storyboard revisions on the recent season my friends have dubbed my johnny-flavoured shitposts as Official Johnny Test Art

There's just something about Barbarians and Potatoes I guess.
Karlach Cliffgate, Holga Kilgore, and my dear beloved Vol all seem to have a special place in their heart for the humble root vegetable - With Karlach's family's loving 'taters', Holga's potato time, and Vol just in love with anything potatoes.
Barbs need carbs - gotta eat something to fuel that RAGE.
Tumblr media
P.S. Yes, I do think Karlach and Holga would get along well (I know Holga doesn't smile much, but I'm sure someone equally enthused about special weapons would bring joy. And I know Karlach isn't especially on about fancy weapons in particular, but she does seem to love special things by known craftsmen):

Kobolds! 3 ft (1 m) clever dragon people of passion and teamwork, switching wildly between complete cowardice and pure bravery! They tend to mate frequently and without jealously, it's just what you do to keep numbers up and prosper. So chances are they'll be very experienced! Magic ones learn things like mage hand and charm person, and as you can see some are especially great with traps and cages and ropes. The thing about kobolds is that they fill wherever needed. They ALL mess with traps, the "dragon shield" is as much title as training, and while the scale sorcerer is special...like, they know 5 spells. They'll still happily grab a pickaxe or mess with traps if needed.
